Hello!  Glad to meet you all.  I'm 33.

I struggled with thyroid disease for a number of years; first hyper so I was overly-thin and then hypo after surgery to remove the thyroid.  Unfortunately, that caused some weight complications because my metabolism went "into shock" from the rapid transition.  I gained nearly 40 pounds within 3 years (went from 120 - 160).   Several years ago, I was able to dip below 140 by controlling calories but leveled off no matter how hard I tried, and I learned that severely restricting my intake back-fired.  So last year I began a workout regimen (at home) and have reached my goal/maintenance weight (128).   I've been maintaining for nearly 3 months.  I'll always have to be careful about my food choices and remain dedicated to my exercise routine - I've had to accept that grudgingly.

I've been doing calorie count for a few years at the recommendation of my endocrinologist.  When I went to him miserable over the weight gain, he said one of the best tools he'd ever seen for weight loss was tracking calories and nutrition.  He was right!  It definitely keeps me honest.  LOL

I live in Charlotte.  I'm not from here, but moved to the area nearly 7 years ago to work for one of the major corporations here.

I work as a Project Manager.  I'm attending college online, since my original degree was completely unrelated to the job I ended up doing.     Life is funny that way!  I have 2 children; 14 and 3 and a 2-year-old part Russian Blue kitty boy.  (He likes to lay on my Step during interval workouts.  LOL)  Other than that I'm pretty eccentric...  Love collecting Betty Boop, nickname my cars, and I love action movies.

Hello, I am a 31 yr. old mother of 4 ages (14, 6, 5 and 2)!!! I weighed 210 lbs. when I gave birth to my last child and I guess I just sort of gave up?? I lost about 30 lbs. after having him and have stayed around 180-185 lbs. for the last 2 yrs.

I know that I need to make some major lifestyle changes, not only for my health but for my self-esteem. I don't like looking at myself anymore. I don't like going out because I never know what to wear, etc.etc. Also, I feel as though I am always tired (and that can't be good) so.......it's definetly time for a change!!!

My long term goal is 135 lbs. I also need to start small and make exersize goals (this is a hard one for me). I am hoping that this site will give me the motivation and the tools to suceed.

Hi everyone.  I am a 31 yr. old mother of 5 ages 14, 9, 8, 3, 8 mths..  I just started with calorie count yesterday.  My goal is to lose 70 pounds over the next 18 months.

Hi, my name is Clara.  I'm 31, and just had my 3rd and final baby 2 months ago and am ready to get into shape.  I've been overweight since I was 9 years old, and have never stuck to a diet/exercise plan longer than a few weeks.  I am 5' 10".  Mostly my weight has gone up up up, weighting 180 in high school, 220 when I got married, and now I'm at 250... 3 kids later.  I'd like to get back to the 180 mark by my child's first birthday... July 2009.

I'm trying to find some support online, that's how I came across this site, hoping someone can keep me motivated.  I'm currently using my Wii Fit and enjoying that.  I've borrowed my friend's Gazelle to see if I like that before I buy another piece of equipment that will collect dust.  My oldest starts preschool in a few weeks and while she's in school, I'm going to take the other two to walk the mall for the two hours she's in school.  I'd like to join a gym, but can't afford to at this time.  I used to have a membership, but never went.  I'm serious this time, I need energy to run after these kids, hahaha.  And I need my cholesterol to go down, it's 246.

Hiya everybody! Proud 30 yr old father of a 16 month old daughter here!

To be honest, I always been worried about my weight, but never really had the drive to make any changes. I was always a big boy growing up, but quickly got into shape in high school (thank you football!) I was 6'2" and 220, broad shoulders and built. After football though, I never really did get the excercise I needed and ballooned to close to 300 lbs. I stayed that way for years, until I started working at my current job.

I am on shift with a couple of other big boys and our breakfasts and lunches would make most cringe. I gained more weight and peaked at 352lbs. All three of us got tired of feeling like poo and made a $50 bet with one another on who can lose the most weight in three months. This is what brought me here.

I needed a good way to log my calories in and calories out. I never did realize how bad the foods I was eating actually were. (And I used to eat a lot of it!) I was also pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to burn calories when one is 350+ lbs, which motivated me to get out and excercise. Week one: lost 11 lbs. (prolly a good amount of water weight in there, I realize!)

Great to meet you all and good luck!

(By the way, our $50 bet was officially called "Who wants to live until 35?") ;)

Hello Ya'll,

I'm fast approaching my forties(just turned 39) and in complete and utter denial about it. I figured joining "30's" group would help keep my head in the denial comfort zone. One thing I'm not in denial about is my weight. I have battled with weight since the day I was born.

I was born and raised in the south. Coastal Virginia/North Carolina area to be exact. As everyone from the area will tell you, we LOVE our fried foods. Fried clams and hush puppies were one of the highlights of my younger life. Unfortunatly, hush puppies are about as loyal as a real puppy. They never leave your side...literally.

I relocated to the San Diego area about 16 years ago. My weight has seen some highs and low's over the years. Some of the low's were achieved in a healthy manner, some were not. Needless to say, I have accepted that weight management is a mandatory and necessary part of my life. I have found that I achieve greater losses when I am dieting/working out with others who have the same goals. I guess that's why I'm here and writing this.I reached a breaking point about 3 months ago and started counting calories/carbs like a crazed person. That's how I stumbled upon Calorie Counter. To date I have lost 27lbs. My goal weight is 130. I would like to achieve this by October of 09.

As for who I am. Well, I'm not really that complicated. I am a dietary manager(ironic, I know) for an upscale Jewish retirement community in San Diego. I have been with my partner,Vladimir, for over three years. We are currently living in the La Cacho area of Mexico(about 5 min from the U.S.border)because we are having a very difficult time obtaining a visa. Come on Obama!!! I commute to work every day and that takes a significant amount away from my personal time. Prior to the move I was going to the gym 4 x a week. I enjoy making new friends and spending time with old ones. I am a music freak and love going to live concerts/shows whenever possible. I love to cook, bake, cater parties, body surf, camp, go to museums, art shows, street fairs, thrift store shops, and local movie houses,I am an animal lover/owner. I spend a significant amount of time enjoying life and trying to live mine to the fullest.

Hello everyone!  I am so glad to be in a group of 30+ because we all know it gets a little tougher as the years creep up on you. I am new to CC and want to make sure I stay connected and accountable!

So, here's the scoop on me.  I have been overweight most of my life with many ups and downs.  I lost 60 pounds in college (the wrong way) and managed to keep it off for quite a few years until I had a bad marriage.  All the weight came back and then some.  About 7 years ago (post divorce) I got serious about losing weight again and 5 years ago I met my second husband.  After 3 years of marriage some of the weight has come back but I am determined to win the battle!

Ok here are my stats: I am 5"6' & I am 39 years old.  My starting weight was 237, current weight weight is 224, & my short term goal is to get to 180 with a long term goal of 160.  I just want to be healthy and feel good.

What else is there to know? I work for a large bank as a Product Manager in Corporate Marketing. I do not have any children but I have chihuahua and a pug that consider me "mommy".  My interests include reading, reality TV shows, playing WOW (World of Warcraft), and enjoying a Bombay Sapphire Martini with good friends!

Hello all 30 something people!  I'm a 37yo w/o any kids and I have lost 30 lbs since the start of this year.  My profile picture was taken last week @ ~175lbs.  I have always had issues with gaining and losing weight my entire life.  It’s like a 2-3 year cycle where my weight fluctuates ~30lbs.  I'm trying to get to 156 and have another 17 lbs to go.   Having recently joined CC, I’m looking for a way to keep track of the food that I eat and exercise I do so I can monitor my progress or lack thereof.

I joined this group to hear other people's stories and successes they have had that may help me continue my downward trend.  I also wanted to be a part of a group where some of the members actually saw “Back to the future” in the theatre unlike my classmates in their early 20’s.  You see, I am undergoing a career change into becoming an eye doctor.  (The avg age in m class is 26).  This certainly keeps my busy with reading lots of books, so I’m not as active as I would like, but still manage to make it to the fitness center at least 5 times a week for ~50min, or until I have burned at least 500 calories.  I wish I could do more outdoor things like walking or riding my bike, but I guess the gym will have to due for now.

I wish everyone here the best of luck in accomplishing their long term goals.  Not only do I hope to lose some weight, but I want to develop a healthy lifestyle of eating so I can finally put a stop to the pendulum effect of weight loss/gain I have had most of my life.

Good luck to all!

Chris

Helloooo!

Ive been a memeber of CC since 2006.  I have been struggling to lose the weight I put on 4 years ago through quick fixes and of course have just put it all back on and extra.  Now I have a more realistic approach and expectations, I have come back with a positive attitude and am "trying again"!

Im 32, no kids and none planned.  I have 3 pets...2 goldfish, named Salmon and Potty and a husband named Will.  I'd like to say "Im a lady of leasure"... but Im actually just struggling to find work since we moved to Australia!  I keep myself occupied with housework, a vegetable patch and gardening; and ironing whilst watching Oprah.... My interests are traveling; 4-wheel driving and exploring; Ayurveda and Reflexology and Aromatherapy; cooking and seeing the positive in life everyday and counting my blessings.

I joined this group cos "Im in my 30's"!  Im looking at leading a healthier lifestyle and to feel content.

So, "HELLOOOOO" to you all Laughing

1. History with weight loss:  I have struggled with my weight my whole life. SW 135pd at H.S. graduation but started to have kids and from there it was all over. The short shorts, the bathing suit all gone...I'm now at 190pds and can't seen to lost it.  About 2 years ago, I lost 35 pds but as soon as I started putting the carbs back into my diet, BOOM 45pds gained :( and still gaining.  I am at my highest weight ever.

2. History with Calorie Count: I goined CC about a year ago and was on the site maybe twice.  I am very good about going support groups but I never stick to them.  I am serious this time.  I am up for any suggestions....

3. Reason for joining this group:  I am hoping by seeing everyone posting their GW and seeing them reach it will keep me going.  I am a cheerleading coach and we all know cheerleaders are known to be very fit.  The girls I coach are only 6-7 years old but I want to show them that I can be fit and heathly. I want to inspire them.  I have a couple of overweight girls on my squad and I want them to know they can also we fit and healthy too.  They do still have alot of baby fat on them but at 6 or 7 you shouldn't weight 95pds.

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:  I am 31 years old, 5'2 and weight 190.5.  I have 2 daughters ages 12 and 4. I am single but have been in the same relationship for 13 years with my girls father. Not sure why we haven't got married yet but I hope when he sees me at my GW, he will be ready cause he will not want to let me go .  I am a medical assistant on my first job and a Transporter on my second job. Yes, I work seven days a week. Alot of my exercise comes from my second job as a Transporter.  I work in a very large hospital and I am required to transport partents from test areas.  It has been calculated that we walk anywhere from 18-20 miles in a average 12 hour work day.  Working seven days a week I really have no time for interest but I would say that my girls and my cheerleading squad is all I think about.  I also have one dog (jack russell).

Hi-  I have struggled with my weight for the last six to eight years.  I started really gaining weight when I was pregnant with my first child thinking the weight would fly off after my son was born- didn't happen.  After my second child I was even heavier.  I have exercised on and off but have never gotten my eating under control.

I found calorie count online and love it!  What an eye opener.  I had no idea how many calories I consume in a day.  I was at 500 calories before breakfast from all the cream and sugar I dump in my coffee!!!!  I am excited to finally shed the weight for good:)

Hi,

New to the whole weight lose thing because i did care about me, until now. I have a bone skinny husband or say well just lose weight, he has been the same weight the last 13 years! After having three children including twins and my youngest is 2. I need to get this weight off. I am 12 pounds away from my start weight with my 2 year old. I have been exercising and slow it is coming off, way to slow to me 18 pounds since the new year. I am still wear my maternity clothes, I can't fit into my pre-kids clothes. Someone told me to start this group and start counting the calories. I don't eat bad things, but i do eat for a meal the children leftovers and on the run. I need an eye openner and help in seeing were i am going wrong, thanks Jen

Hi. My name is Helen and I am 35 years old - not sure when that happened. I am 5'10" and currently 152lbs. I started cc at about 170lbs and have been impressed by how simply logging all my food has enabled me to lose weight. I was really shocking at how much of my daily calorie intake came from snacks and alcohol without me realising it. My goal weight is 147 and I am aiming to get there by Halloween as it's my mum's 60th birthday. She's having a party and I want to look good in my dress!

I've been a member of cc for couple of months but I'm naturally quiet and I think that I have been missing out a bit on the community side of this site so I'm trying to be more of a joiner :)

I work full time at a desk job so spend the majority of my day sitting down and my hobbies are quite sedentary too, reading and knitting. I love camping and hiking at the weekends and am trying to make the effort to get outside more. I also bought a Wii Fit which has been good to a certain extent, although sometimes it's really mean! I am married with no children and at the moment I don't have any pets either. My cat died last month, he was about 8 years old and I'm still getting over it, although I suspect it won't be long before I'm down at the rescue centre getting another one.

My name is Dawn.  I live in Napa and I love food and wine (duh!). Wink   I have two daughters, ages 3 and 5.   I am 38 and I don't know what the heck is happening to my body but I've packed on 10 pounds in the last 6 months.   I still had 10 pounds of "baby" weight at the beginning of the year and now this additional 10 snuck up on me.  The only 2 things that have changed over the last 6 months are: I went back to work after being a stay at home mom for  5 years, and..I went on the birth control pill.   I'm wondering if I gained the weight from being at a desk all day instead of chasing kids around all day or if it was the pill????  I've been exercising and watching my diet and its been impossible to lose a pound.  In fact, the scale seems to sneak up which is so depressing!  Is it my age? The desk job? The pill??? Is anyone else out there having this mind-boggling experience?  I'm trying to stay positive and focus on how I feel and not what the scale says.  I'm healthy but I can't button my pants and sleeves squeeze my arms....  I don't want to buy a size 10P... I hope this site will help me break through...   Eat less, move more... easier said than done.

Hi everyone!

I'm a 33 year old Canadian girl and a mom of two, a son who is 12 and a daughter who is 10.  At 5'4" I am now weighing in at 147.0lbs.  I have only had an issue with my weight for the past 15 months or so and am determined to not let it go on any longer.  It all started when I began a new relationship with a wonderful man.  However, he is about 120 lbs overweight and I seem to have adopted alot of his lifestyle and eating habits.  I also left my job a couple of months later and became a SAHM so I went from being extremely active to being just about idle (fitness-wise).  It certainly has done it's damage as I have put on 27 pounds since starting this relationship.  I need all the motivation I can get as I'm not getting much of it from home.  My SO and I have discussed our weight issues and it seems as if he really doesn't take it seriously.  He really doesn't see that he has much of a problem and doesn't understand why I am completely uncomfortable with the weight I have put on.

Hello Everyone!

I'm new to this group. I just started finding new groups to join. So here goes. I am a 32 old single mama of 2 wonderful boys.

I started my weight gain when I got pregnant with my first child. At that point I was 140 and a size 7. Now I don't want to get back to that really, but I would like to get to 160.

I started CC in 2005 I believe but didn't get a chance to do much because I ended up having my 2nd child. So technically I rejoined in August 2003. I started around 193 and as of today I am at 177. Not to shabby so far I think. I am just happy I am sticking to it so far. I hope to reach my goal around Christmas time.

I joined this group because I was recently tranfered to downtown st.louis for my job. I am from illinois and had worked in edwardsville but they wanted to move me to a different team so that meant moving to downtown. I work as a paralegal at a firm in one of them huge bank of america buildings. I do like that I have plenty of places to walk to. I have been either walking down around the river and the arch or walking all the way to union station.

My boys are 3 and 10 in 11 days. WoW! They are certainly a wild couple of kiddos. So I am trying to lose this weight so I can keep up with them. I don't get to do much else other than work and then I have my kids any other time I'm not at work. So I thought coming on here would really help keep me motivated to get that weight off. Okay...enough blabbing for me. Nice to meet you all.Smile

Well.....where to start:

I've struggled with my weight since the birth of my second kid. I tell people I'm still struggling to loose my "baby" weight and laugh when I then say my "baby" is now 9 years old. Weight is so hard to loose and so easy to gain! I was thin even through college only struggling after my second pregnancy. After my first pregnancy I lost all my extra weight I gained (60 lbs) no problem.  Thought it would be that easy after the next one two years later...absolutely not.

I have been a nurse in surgery for 9 years and absolutely love what I do. I take care of a lot of bariatric weight loss surgery patients that have gastric bypass surgeries. I love to take care of these people because I have such a heart for their struggle...they are me...I am them. I have found that it doesn't matter if you weigh 500lbs or 250 lbs or even 160lbs and want to loose the weight.  The struggle is all the same.  It's hard!!!!

I am a single mom and with two busy kids (11 and 9) we are constantly on the go. Our meals a lot of the time consist of fast food that can really pack on the pounds.  After a longs days work and running the kids to soccer, basketball, dance etc.  I just don't feel like exercising...you know?! That has been my challenge and downfall: busy schedule, tired, lack of motivation.

I saw a picture of myself this summer and never really realized what I "actually" looked like.  I new I was overweight, but saw the picture and said Oh my ...is that what I really look like?  That is NOT me.  Not the real me anyway. I have to do something.

This time I'm going to do something new and allow God to walk beside me on this weight loss journey of mine and have some help and encouragement from others as well.

Hi All!

Glad to find you here in CC+ land. I am a forced convert to CC+, I must admit I stayed with CC Classic until the bitter end last night. LOL

Anyway, I've struggled with weight loss for most of my adult life. I've tried every diet out there, was always successful but when I tried to maintain, I'd eventually gain it back. One day I woke up, realized that I didn't want to ride that roller coaster anymore and decided to make a real lifestyle change. That eventually brought me here to CC, when I was first starting to be serious about counting calories and logging what I ate.

I hit a plateau along the way and the scale would not move. However, my clothes fit better and I looked smaller. It dawned on me to start taking measurements with a tape measure instead of relying on the finicky scale. In the last year or so, I've lost over 30 inches; I attribute that to the combination of turbo jam and weight work that I do. I'd still like to get the scale to move more, though! LOL

Other stuff about me, let's see...oh yeah, I'm 38 and I am a research scientist currently working in the public health field. Lots of times my job involves icky things like grease, sewage, rodents and bugs, but it makes life interesting! I've been married ten years to my best friend and feel very fortunate for that. I love to read, travel, golf, sit on the beach, drink good wine and cook :) We just lost our kitty last month, and like spannerlamoo, I am having a hard time with it. He was 21 and was just lovely. I suspect we may get a new kitten sometime soon, though, because the house just seems to quiet without him.

Nice to meet you all!

Hello all! I am 32 years old mother of two (6 and 4 , will be 5 in a few weeks). I gained all my weight when I got pregnant I went from 160 to 200with 1st one and 175 to 220 with the 2nd. My goal weight is 150 and currently I am at 205.  I have a lot of work to do! I am new to CC+ and really need the support and accountability to get this weight off!

Hey folks,

I am 39, heading towards 40 in the next few months, but prefer to think of myself as 37. :-)

I spent most of my 5'8" life at about 160 pounds until a few years back I realized I had peaked at 225 pounds.  My hubby and I did the slimfast route and portion and calorie control to get down to 155 pounds for me - he lost 100 pounds!

Since then[ 2004/2005], we gradually have been creeping back up, putting on weight gradually over the past 3 years to where I peaked this summer at 180 pounds.

After freaking out, I talked to him and we started with trying to use power bars as meal replacements, but the sugar content is so high in a lot of meal replacements that I did not want to continue with that route.  We examined portion control again and started calorie counting.

After a summer of take-out and delivery foods, we realized that had to stop, and got off of it all when we went camping for to weeks in August.  We can back to start fresh in early September, and have been doing our best to keep on top of controlling our intake and choosing mainly healthy food with only the occasional treat when we know we'll exercise it off!

I teach belly dance classes during the fall/winter/spring so those 6 hours of dancing each week plus extras when I am hired to teach privates really help me get back moving and burning.  We walk as much as we can as well.

I sew during the day, so it is pretty sedentary and I am looking to make sure I keep up a bit more dog walking - no kids, one Miniature Pincher, Boing - but she likes to sleep a lot :-)

I joined CC a few weeks ago as it is incredibly helpful - especially since I can put in my own recipes and have them analyzed for their nutritional value - that is so handy!

Today I got down to 170 pounds, and decided I should actively try to participate!

So yay me - and YAY to everyone~!

Just read a post of someone who is trying to lose weight without a supportive SO.

I hope you are able to find support here in your weight loss journey.

I am blessed to have a hubby who is in agreement that we both need to get into better shape and health, so the losing is supported

I know people in your place and it is not fun for the person trying to lose when the potential for sabotage happens at home.

So, just thought I would drop a note saying that I hope you find that strength and support wherever you can, and best of luck!

Not sure if this just gets posted in the general list or goes directly to the person...  new to posting here!
