Hi everyone!

I'm a 32 yo homeschooling momma.  My youngest just turned 1 yo this August and I'm having trouble shedding those extra baby pounds.  My hubby and I will be celebrating our 10 year anniversary next September and I would LOVE to be at my goal weight by then (before that would be AWESOME!!!)  I'm 5'6" and 174 lbs right now.

My goals are to:

1.  Fit into my wedding gown by September 2009

2.  Get to my goal weight of 139 by June 2009

1. History with weight loss: Not overweight until & after my first pregnancy @ 21yo :) I'm 31 now. My youngest was born in January and I've lost about 60 lbs since her due date. I've slacked off somewhat intentionally this past month and now I'm going to closely count calories to see if the shake-up in calories helps me lose a good amount of extra weight by Thanksgiving (7 wks!) I still have about 80 lbs to go until my goal weight range (140-145) which I hope & plan to reach in July. I will have lost half of my former self by then! (and actually I did weigh about 20 lbs more than that at one point, too, but who's counting)

2. History with Calorie Count: Back and forth since Spring '07 while during pregnancy. Great motivator, participated in and won 1st place in a Biggest Loser Challenge this year on CC, love the calorie counter, nice to have groups to chat with occasionally

3. Reason for joining this group: Well, I'm a 30-something now :) I'll be 32 in Nov.

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I'm a stay-at-home Mom, celebrating 11 years of marriage in Nov, and we have two sons ages 10 & 9 and four daughters ages 8, 6, 4, & 8 months. We also have 2 cats and 2 Labs, lol. I volunteer with a childrens' club as a secretary a few hours/wk. That's about it :)

hello, I just joined today. I am 38 years old and I have been on and off diets all my adulthood. I just started planning my wedding today, I am getting married next year, on a cruise, so I just decided today that I need to lose 80 lbs in 8 months so I can be a beautiful, thin bride. My current weight is 220lbs, I work out an average of 3 times a week, but my weakness is food.

Hello Everyone, I just joined CC today. I'm 37 (soon to be 38) and while I feel 28 on the inside my outsides aren't keeping with the program.Tongue out  I'm 5'10 and currently weighing in at 190, the program says I need to lose about 30lbs.

I've never been on an official "diet" before.  While everyone around me IRL seems to have intimate knowledge of calorie counting and so forth, I haven't a clue.  Consequently, this is all new to me,I kind of feel like I'm fumbling about in the dark here. I joined up to the 30 somethings group in the hope of finding guidence and friendship on this new adventure I've undertaken.

I'm Mom to an awesome 9 year old Kidlet, working towards a new career as a legal assistant. I deal with most of life's ups and downs with humour and a sense of "well that's the way it rolls eh?".

I'll mention it now I guess, that I'm lazy, well lazy in the sense that by the time I roll into my home it's usually after a 16 hour work day, the last thing I feel like doing is exercising! I do however, walk everywhere that I can, mostly through necessity since I don't drive a car. I gotta work on that...

Anyhow nice to be here....

Back to trying to figure out how exactly this board works.

Hello everybody, I joined today after my sister mentioned this forum to me on several occasions.  I have battled weight since my early teenage years and it only got worse after I had my daughters, just kept piling those pounds on.  My heaviest weight was 230 lbs about 2 years ago and I have managed to take 60 pounds off since then.  I am now at 170 lbs, and with enough motivation I know I can get another 30-40 pounds to disappear.

I am married to a wonderful guy whom I dated in high school and have been with for over 18 years.  We have two beautiful and intelligent teenage daughters who make us very proud.  I am a big animal person, have 3 dogs and 2 cats.

I have been in the nursing field for several years and work in a nursing home.  I enjoy helping the elderly and find it a rewarding field to be in.

I really enjoy exercising and find it makes a huge difference in my mood and my attitude.

Hello everyone, I joined after a freind of mine mentioned it to me, and i saw her  lose some weight... I am really more interested in maintaining my current weight, not so much losing wieght, I once weighed 200+ pounds and now i am at 135... I had a pretty tough time losing the weight i wanted to lose, but I feel like it is harder to keep it off...  not to mention that finding time for excersice sometimes proves to be hard... Since this is my first time to use a calorie counting system (I used a low carb diet to lose the wieght) I am hoping that this will help me acheive my goals...

I work in a bank... it is lots of fun and i get to meet a lot of people...I have 3 dogs Buddy (a mutt that maked us smile eveyday) Ziggy (a miniature Austalian Sheperd, who has more energy than i can explain) and Scooter (he's a boxer terrier mix who likes to cuddle) i also have 2 Golden Geckos...

Hi everyone.  In a month I'll be 35 omg, and I want to remember my late 30's as the start of the healthiest, happiest years of my life :)  I have always hovered in the 130-145 lbs for my 20's, and then I had my two sweet children, and started the juggle of mom, married life and career.  Two years ago I was feeling good at 140 lbs, having had a personal trainer and hitting the gym 3 times a week.  Somewhere along the way, the last 10 lbs goal kind of left my mind as I focused on my career, so here I am now at 154 lbs and 5'1".  Though I'm happy today because I weighed in at my 2nd week of weight watchers and got the five lb star, I have a ways to go towards my first goal of 130.  I have the added motivation of our May 2009 Maui trip to drive me, along with my ladies indoor soccer league, where I have to force myself to keep up with the 20-somethings :)

Hello,

My name is Joel, and I am 33 years old Married w/3 children. I have been overweight since I was around 18. I am 5' 6" and am currently 180 lbs, I was at my heaviest a few years ago pushing around 245. I spent most of the last fifteen years doing every diet known to man kind. Never really considering exercise, I was always looking for the quick weight loss plan. Many diets worked for a little while, but I always sooner or later gained the weight back. About 2 years ago I decided that I should eat whatever I want, and all I would have to do is workout 7 days a week for an hour or more at a time. After about six months of that I was not losing any weight, and started dieting and working out. The magic formula, why did no one tell me about this before? Finally at 33 I understand that for the rest of my life I will continue to work out and eat healthy. I have spent this past year studying everything I can about nutrition and physical fitness. I have never been this healthy and fit before, and I am excited aobut my future.

Stats:

Highest Weight: 245

Current Weight: the past few months Teetering between 170 and 180

Goal Weight: 155

Hello!  Well I guess I have had the battle of weight for as long as I can remember.  In High School, my mother said I was overweight.  Looking back I was not!  But those thoughts are now in my dna.  I am overweight now and need to loose about 80 pounds to have a good bmi.  I would be happy with about 50 lbs.  I have two wonderful children who have not made my body the best that it can be.  One was 9lbs 3 oz (8 years ago), and 5 years ago 10 lbs 3 oz.  I never lost the weight after the second one was born.  I was dealing with too many other things, mostly that both of my children are deaf and was totally focused upon them.  Well now we just moved and I am a stay at home mom (who is looking for a job) and can take the time to watch my calories and work out.

I did lose about 30 lbs in 1998-1999 through the "weigh down diet."  It really worked for me, but I also had a huge support system back then and NO children.  After my first was born I did not gain much back, it really was my second child that sent me into weight hell.

So here I am starting to watch what I eat and how much.  I am hoping that this week will be better than last.  I totally lost control over the weekend and I hope that I can keep things better under control this weekend.

Highest weight (not pregnant) 240

Height 5'6", current weight 230

I would be happy with 170, but bmi should be 154.

Blessings, K Marie

Hello..To all 30+ guys and gals.. Started my maintainance journey from joining about.com last sep 07 and somewhere in feb 08,I discover cc.. I would be 36 in another 2 months time and currently still single.. With my height of 5 1/2",my current weight as at today is 49.2kgs(108 lbs).. Have a deskjob of working from 9 to 6pm from mon-fri and 9am to 1pm on sat.. Join cc to learn more about counting calories and about.com to find friends whom has the same passion for walking.. I'm from a country where food and drinks are available 24 hours a day and our weather is very hot and humid with occasional raining seasons.. It's hard to convert all asean food towards calories counting so I estimate my calories thru portions for homecook meals.. Losing weight has been my favourite topic for a long long time.. I would say that my highest weight that I ever allow myself to gain was til 55 kgs(121 lbs) back in 95 and the lowest that I achieve is 46.2kgs(102lbs) sometime in mar 08.. That was because I join my fellow forum walkers on their journey over at idita's walk.. I manage to walk a total of 768.35km in that month.. Enjoyed the fun for I seem to be walking as much as possible to stay in pace with them.. My mum and sisters started hinting about my crazy passion for walking and they put a control on my leisure time.. So I reduce my walking time a lot and after a few months of walking in the lows of 300+km a month,I'm back towards my starting weight.. The trick to lose weight is to buy a pedometer, strap it on for 24 hours(only to remove it when you are showering) and keep a journal for your journey towards weight lost.. My journal consist of daily weight, fat percentage, water percentage, number of steps, distance, calories and fat burn and monthly distance goal and minutes .. And by using cc,I can chart my eatting habits and learn from there.. So let's put on our comfy clothes and start walking ..

Hi!  I'm 34, soon to be 35 next month.  I have been married for 4 years, for the second time, and have a 11 yr old boy, and a 3 yrold daughter.  I have been a nurse for 11 yrs and have a hectic schedule of days and nights that follow it.  I usually follow weight watchers,  but thought I would try calorie counting for awhile instead.  I am 5'5 and weigh 181,  and would absolutely love to weigh 150!  I have been on a diet roller coaster most of my adult life with my heighest non pregnant weight of 215 and my lowest post divorce weight of 145.  I know what it takes to lose,  I just need the motivation!  I love being thin,  so why do I sabotage it?  I'm really excited to get started!  Good luck to all!

Hello!  I can tell a similar story to many of you-- just turned 34, married, 3 beautiful kids aged 7, 6, and 3, insanely busy with family, work and pets.  :)

Somehow we manage to lose ourselves in the flurry of days and once we *do* get to the scale, it isn't good news.  Right now I'm 155, and 5'7".  I want to lose the last 10-15 pounds of my "baby weight" and get into better shape.  The upcoming holidays are looming over the horizon and I am DESPERATE not to put on weight before the new year!

It will feel very good to have the support of a group.

Thanks,

Susanne

Hi there! My name is Amy, and I'm 31 years old.  I just joined Calorie Counter yesterday, and I'm pretty excited and hopeful that it will keep me on track.  I'm hoping to find the much needed support through Calorie Counter.  I have done Weight Watchers several times in my adult life, and it has always worked.  I just tired of paying people to help me lose weight.  I'm hoping to find the encouragement right here.  I am married to a great (but also overweight!) husband--who I hope to get started on calorie count as well, and we have three beautiful children ages 5 1/2, almost 4 and almost 2.  With my son starting kindergarten this year, I feel like I'm always in the car!

Growing up, I was ALWAYS thin.  Really thin--and I didn't even have to try.  I ate everything, and I never worked out.  Ahhhh, the beauty of a teenage metabolism! When my hubby and I met 14 years ago, I was 108 pounds.  I look at pictures now, and I feel that was way too skinny for me.  By the time we got married in July of 2000, I had gained a "few" pounds, and I was up to 122.  I looked and felt great! To me, that is the optimum weight.  However, from July to December--just five short months--I gained 20 pounds.  I didn't change ANYTHING but my last name!

Through the years, my weight has fluctuated from 122 pounds to as high as 189 pounds when pregnant.   I absoutely LOVE food, and I feel like every day is a struggle for me.  I'm currently 142 pounds and 5'7", with a small body frame.  I would like to lose 17 pounds, which would bring me down to a great weight of 125 pounds.  I recently started working out at a gym that we have paid for (but not used!) for over a year.  Since August, I have been there four days a week (while taking a few weeks off for sick children and self).  When I lose the weight, which I hope I will, I have a special treat planned for myself.  Non-food of course!

Hi all!  My name is Heather and I am 34 (ew, that still stings!!).  I have been a member of Calorie Count for about a year, but I finally got serious about things in mid-July when I maxed out at just over 200 pounds (mind you, I am only 5'4").  Since then, I have lost about 20 pounds and I have made exercise a habit and, much to my surprise, it has become a real stress-reliever and something I look forward to.  I have been delighted that losing weight after age 30 is not nearly as difficult as others had made it out to be.  However, I wish I could choose which nooks and crannies I'd like to lose it from!

I am single without kids, so, fortunately, dieting and scheduling time to exercise has not been a challenge, but I work in a Christian drug/alcohol recovery ministry and attend college as a return student, so I spend the better part of my time with MUCH younger adults who all seem to be thin and full of energy!!   Also, I am a recovering alcoholic myself (2 years sober in November--woohoo!!Laughing), and I have a serious weakness for ANYTHING remotely resembling sweets!!  I am looking forward to meeting new people through this forum.

Hi my name is Rosalyn but you can call me Ros for short. I am a 31 yr old married mother of 3 kids. I have a boy (12), and two girls ages 14 months and 10yrs old. I was born and raised in Miami Florida. I am new to calorie count and I am looking forward to getting to know each and every one of you. I've been pretty much into diet and exercise since I graduated from high school and started having kids. I've tried just about every diet you can name but right now I'm just trying to do what has worked for me in the pass which is counting calories. I've lost a lot of weight in the pass counting calories which is why I am turning back to counting calories. I am glad to be apart of this group.

Hi I'm Brandi age 35, proud mother of 3 ages 11, 9, and 2! I had gestational diabetes with my 2 year old and it did not go away. I am now a full blown diabetic and it sucks! All the finger sticks, sugar watching, and medications, wow! I want to get control of my diabetes, that is my goal. Eating healthier and losing some of this weight can only help!

This is my first time joining a weight loss site but so far I like it!

I joined a weight loss challenge at work about 2 weeks ago, I have lost 5 pounds since starting so I'm off to a good start. But it's always easy to start it, it's the sticking with it that is difficult for me.

My husband is the cook in our home and he's a great one! Too great! LOL However, he is very supportive of me and he has even started cooking healthier dishes! It's awesome!

I started at 166, am now 163 and my goal weight is 125. My short-term goal is to at least not gain! LOL

The calorie counter is great! It really makes a difference when you SEE how much you have shoved in your mouth in a days time! Woah! I guess I didn't think I ate that much! It was an eye-opener!

I recently started walking to get it some exercise I so desperatlely need. I take my children along and they make a great cheering section! Smile

Congratulations on getting serious with your fitness and on losing those 20 pounds! Sounds like you've got the right plan of attack Heather! LOL

Do you ever have days you just don't wanna get up and work out?

What helps motivate you?

Ohhhhhhh YES I have those days that I'd rather do just about anything than work out--today, unfortunately, is one of them.  I admit, I sometimes just listen to my body if I'm tired, or if I've been doing really well in other areas of my life.  I cut myself some slack and stay home.  However,  I try not allowing my body to tell me what to do TOO often. I've found that once I actually get myself to the gym or out on the road if I'm walk/jogging, then about 12 minutes into the workout, it feels great to exercise --it's the getting out of the house that seems to be the challenge.  I often promise myself a reward at home (to curl up with a book, take time off from homework, watch a movie) if I go to the gym on those evenings when I'm just not "feelin' it."

The word workout seems to be at the back of our mind but in order to put it right in front, just put your foot one step of the other and you would walking out of your door.. For someone whom hasn't been a member of any gym, I would say that it's way easier and more convinent to do housewalking, pacing, indoor marching or garden or outdoor walking with a pedometer.. Invest in one which would allow you to keep track of distance, steps, calories, fat burn and with 7 days memory.. Strap it on from the time you wake up and remove them whenever you go to bed.. My choice is omron hj-113.. If you like figures like i do,make everyday into a game plan.. It's known that one needs to walk 10k steps a day.. 12k - 15k steps to lose weight.. And how long would it be?? Find it out for yourselve and you find that it's not end of the world for 10k steps can be achieve very easily.. You would find that in order to see the number of steps increase, you would walk here and there just to see it adding.. Keep a walking journal to post in weight,distance,calories/fat burn, steps and you would be amaze by it.. It allows you to retrack back your walking history just like calories count except that it's available 24 hours a day without sitting down.. Hope you can try this habit of mine.. Instead of sitting down an hour to watch your favourite 1 hour sitcom, try pacing front and back or marching on the spot for an hour.. My walking steps are pretty average ie 115 steps/per minute or 3.5 mph an hour.. My highest record is 56753 / 39.72 km in a day..Burn off 1333 calories and 98.5g of fats.. By right 55 is for 5 ft,60 is for 5ft 1",etc.. Set mine as 70 but my height is only 5ft 1 1/2".. Since I have a deskjob from 9 to 6pm,I try not to sitdown at night.. So reading or watching tv/dvd/vcd is by pacing or marching or with the help of a threadmill, you can easily stay in one place.. My mum even provide me with a houseslipper with microfabric fibres so that when i do housewalking,it would help to clean a part of the house.. I find housewalking very easy for you don't need to wear shoes.. Just keep washing your feet with water whenever it's dirty.. I would normally login my post over at forums 10000+ club,700 october walks, october minutes and october miles.. The last three goes according to the month.. Hope that all of you can join us..Happy walking..
