You answered my question yesterday about olives, and I thank you.  You also invited me to join your group, so here I am.

1.  I have a long-long history of weight loss.  Always successful; then returning to the old eating habit and regaining the lost weight plus more.  Familiar story to many, I'm sure.

2.  I joined CC on May 12, 2008.  Just browsing the internet for calorie-related sites and stumbled on CC and fell in love with it.

3.  As I said before, I am always successful with weight loss, it's getting through the plateaus that have undermined my efforts.  I am currently experiencing a 24 day plateau.  I asked around the site and read everything written, and finally after examining my food analysis determined I wasn't getting enough "good fats".  I had upped my fiber intake, but didn't provide the results I desired, and I didn't want to turn to OTC laxatives.   Yesterday, when I found a printable list of those "good fats" I saw that olives were on the list.  One thing led to another and I had to ask the question "who do you believe"  (the can or CC?)  I didn't eat the olives, because 3 (serving suggestion on can) would have lead to the whole can (I know me), and ended up eating an apple instead.  Here I am this morning with my list of good fats in hand, ready to go to the store to find my desired fats.

4.  I don't know if I'm interesting or not.  I can be a character, and some have said I'm an interesting character.  I have a sense of humor, which is required with my life to survive, and I laugh at myself more than others do.  I turn 50 in August, with not one day in my adult life being at a normal weight.  I've been close before  I'm going to make it and stay there this time if it kills me!  I'm running short of time this morning, and we'll learn more about each other in no time.  Thanks for inviting me to your group!  ~Tonnie

My name is Kelly and I created a profile on this site a year ago and haven't been back until today. I weigh 8 lbs. more than I did a year ago and I'm 45 yrs. old. I feel like there aren't any more reasons to continue being overweight and robbing myself of the numerous pleasures of being healthy, so I'm back and will log in daily to chat. Here is what I'm doing.

Breakfast - instant oatmeal unflavored w/ spray butter and splenda. 110 cals.

Salad - w/ 2 tablespoons lower cal dressing. 80 cals.

Healthy choice entree - 350 cals.

Snack or Vitamin drink-  120 calories

Dinner at home

4oz. lean protein & veggies or salad 600 cals.

Total calories 1240

Supplements:

High dose of fish oils

2800mg. - EPA

1400mg. DHA

Carb cutter - White Kidney bean extract

GNC - Womens Ultra Mega Formula - I use this as a mini meal. This formula has absolutely everything you need.

As for excercise - I'm walking and cycling but not enough. It seems like I can't do the diet and the excercise at the same time. I get stressed and start to cheat so until I can feel solid in my new eating habits I'm not pushing it.

I am a busy gal and lots of hobbies and a fiance, plan to plan late 09 but no date set.  I'm 166 lbs. and 5'4" my goal weight is 130lbs.  I'd love to hear what you folks think about my plan and any advice you might have.

Thanks - Have a great day!

Hello everyone.  I used to be a member of Calorie Count but stopped when I hit my goal of 140 LBs back in June.  Anyway, I now I'm told that my cholesteral is too high.  (I don't have the numbers yet, just got a call that my Dr was sending a perscription for meds. I don't even know what is "normal" numbers.  I guess I'll get more information when I go for my next apointment in 1.5 weeks.  I've always believed in healthy fats and eat pretty healthy.

I joined this group to find out more about eatting healthy fats and balancing my hats.  Currently eat natural, grass fed beef and bison when I can get it.  We eat Tuna but my husband doesn't like any other fish.   I really don't like the idea for taking drugs for this but since I still don't know how high my numbers are, I'm not ruling anything out.

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:

My husband & I live in Washington state and we're retired.  I have 5 children, 12 grandchildren, & 3 great grandchildren. We have 2 dogs (Chihuahua mix & American Cocker) and 3 cats (2 Bengals, & 1 Sokoke).  I make jewelry, crochet, and have an online business.

For starters, does anyone know where I can find out about normal cholesteral numbers?

Thank you,

Pat

And now just go ahead and make that first post!

Hi all!

I am Yaaquut, 5' 2" ft tall, 33 years. Living in the Middle East.

1. History with weight loss: Need to lose about 16 lbs and maintain
2. History with Calorie Count: Joined few months ago
3. Reason for joining this group:  The topic and motive of the group sounds cool to me. I'll go for anything healthy.
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: Married ,no child yet but working and praying hard to get, like flowers and nature in general. I like Nuts! unfortunately i have to eat in moderation :(

1. History with weight loss: Um, I'd say a bad history. I'm not here to lose ANY weight. I'm definatley sticking to my gaining plan. I developed an ED back in spring 2007 when I simply started to "eat healthier". It turned into a mess, but it's been a blessing as well - I've learned so much about feeding myself better (used to be a junk food junkie) and also about exercise and COOKING! I love cooking and experimenting in the kitchen.
2. History with Calorie Count: I joined in September 07 when I began ED recovery and re-feeding. The Health and Support forums helped me out a lot.
3. Reason for joining this group: Simple - I love healthy fats! It feels great to be able to eat them again after being afraid to for so long. I no longer worry about olive oil, nuts, and salmon - I eat them daily and actually get EXCITED about it. I probobly have salmon three or four times a week, and I have about six tablespoons of flaxseeds daily, as well as a couple ounces of nuts or nut butters.
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: For starters, I'm a thirteen (nearly fourteen) year old, and I'm homeschooled. I have one little brother (who I'm very concerned about - he's gained a lot of weight latley and HATES the idea of eating healthy) and two great, supportive parents. I love cooking and baking, as well as art and writing, and recently I've developed a love for running (which I'm not allowed to do at the moment actually.)

1. History with weight loss: It's a long one - I have overweight parents and had an overweight childhood. I've been on some form of a diet ever since I was 16. I maintained between 115 and 120 for a year and half before I decided to take control and lose the last few pounds. That's when I found CC, I was close to my goal - then college happened. I gained the freshman 15 and now I'm trying to lose it and then some.
2. History with Calorie Count: Been on it for a year, lost, maintained, and gained - trying to lose again
3. Reason for joining this group: I used to avoid fat because I knew diddly squat about nutrition - It was called fat, it has to be bad, right? I'm reducing my carbs and upping my fats to lose right now.
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I'm a college freshman, I'm going to be an econ major and an international studies minor, I like to dance and party and I just joined an intramural soccer team and got an unpaid internship

1. History with weight loss: I was always a skinny child, until I was 15 when my menstrual stop coming. With 9 months and no menstrual the doctors were worry, then came the whole weight gain and both my dad and my doctors thought I was pregnant. They ran pregnancy test and that confirmed I wasn't, but they still couldn't figure out why I wasn't having a menstrual so they placed me on Birth Control. That bought my menstrual down but my weight kept going up...We used to think it was because I was eating very badly...but when I got on a diet when I was 20 and couldn't lose weight for nothing that's when people started worrying even more. Then my insulin was sky rocking and that's when they finally diagnosed me with PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) and I didn't get what that meant until they explained it and I studied on it on the internet. Then I realized that my weight loss efforts were going to be a challenge. They gave me Glucophage to bring down the insulin levels and it worked...then that's when I realized that the high insulin explained why I was always sleeping and being tired all the time...So, I gave up and didn't do anything about my weight loss plan. Then I met my loving boyfriend 3 years ago and we were always walking everywhere, of course he loved to walk. And one day when we were at his families house his grandfather suggested we all weigh ourselves. Once I did I realized I lost a total of 10lbs without trying. After that is when I realized that if I lost it by just walking imagine if I was on a diet too????  hmmmmm...Now I'm on Herbalife, the only diet that has worked for me by far.

2. History with Calorie Count: I joined Calorie Count a week ago...of course last year though I was looking to find out how much calories certain foods had...you know the ones where they don't have nutrition facts? Yeah. And being since everyone is advicing to keep track of my calorie intake I tried finding CC again and I did and now I'm a member.

3.Reason for joining this group: I found some topics that were appealing and that applied to me somewhat and I would like to learn more.

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: My name is Yesenia, I came to NYC from Dominican Republic when I was 3 years old. I'm now 23 years old, I live in a Studio apartment with my wonderful boyfriend of 3 years and my grey domestic short haired cat Soulja. I dropped out of H.S. (10th grade) due to depression and lack of desire to learn. I moved out of my father's house at age 19 to this fine caucasion man who was also battling depression, personality disorders and a big control freak lol. I ran away from him 3 months after and reside in a shelter for a year until I found my comfy Studio apartment I'm in today :)

I'm also HIV+, currently undetectable and taking my meds regularly and I'm completely healthy. They say that most weight gain are due to HIV meds but I'm sure not using that as an excuse to not lose weight. And I'm so happy that I met my boyfriend who was so understanding and so willing to look past my condition...we've been together 3 years so far and he's still HIV- YAY!!! lol

I'm currently receiving SSI so I'm pretty much holding out on working, because my meds are EXPENSIVE!!! So I'm not jeopardizing my health benefits and my monthly income.

Wow...I just noticed I did a biography on myself LMAO!!! Well that's enough for now...thank you for reading this long lol

Well my history of weight loss is that I had/have an eating disorder.  It started with me becoming a vegetarian, then turned to bulimia, and then (I believe) it turned to Orthorexia which I'm still kinda struggling with. Anyway, I became underweight, lost my period, hair fell out, yada yada.. Now I've gained enough weight back, got my period back, but I'm still a vegetarian and I still have A LOT of trouble dealing with the psychological issues that triggered the eating disorder. But enough about that!

I joined Caloriecount at the beginning of my eating disorder (I'm not blaming CC, though!). It started with me googling nutrition facts for the Cheesecake Factory and even though I never did get any stats, one of the results was someone on here asking for the same thing! So I started looking around (and at the time I was thinking I needed to lose weight when I totally didn't) and I thought this site would help with my "weight loss goals". So after about a year with eating disorder(s), I then started going to the Support and Weight Gain forums and getting encouragement from other wonderful people also suffering with eating disorders.  yupp

I joined this group because... well I love nuts! And olive oil :] And since I'm vegetarian, those are my main sources of fat in my diet. So I thought I'd join with other nut lovers.

Some things about me: I'm 15 years old, but I'll be 16 in less than 2 weeks. I'm very active. I love running and bike riding. I'm on the varsity Field Hockey and Track teams on my school. I also love animals. I currently have 2 awesome cats. I love to cook too.
