Welcome to the Group

Welcome!

This group is to help motivate others with positive messages, inspiring stories and general happy thoughts. Lets encourage each other to put aside our frustrations and focus on what we have achieved and not what we are lacking.

Feel free to add your positive thoughts, quotes, stories, helpful tips on food, exercise or even just life in general.

Hiya

I have just started this group. I did look first to see if there was anything already in existence but couldn't see anything that was the same as what i wanted to start.

Basically I wanted to start a group where people could post positive feedback, inspiring stories, happy thoughts, quotes, sharing helpful tips. I really wanted a "happy place" to go to for when people feel down and frustrated which as we all know can happen during weight loss/gain.

I myself have battled on and off with depression for 16 years but i like to think that I am in a place where I can successfully manage it. One of the things that helps me do this is trying to stay focused on the positive and although I do acknowledge the bad stuff I dont let it own me.

Anyway have been doing CC for about a month now. So far have lost 3 kgs (6.6pounds) which I am happy with this rate of loss. It has also really inspired me to concentrate more on exercise too which I find so beneficial to feeling good about myself.

Anyway goodluck to all and feel free to post forums or drop me a mail anytime.

Hi everyone-

This looks like a good group for inspiration and support, thanks for starting it Bigtum.

I can't promise that I will always be a positive person, but I promise that on my bad days at least I won't unload here! Wink

Weight loss truly depends on one's memtal state, I believe. To me it's almost like turning a light switch on and off. When I'm in a funk, nothing can deter me from stuffing myself, but when I get my mind operating correctly, there's almost no struggle with temptation. Now, that's not to say I always know how to operate that switch, but I think it's good to know that the control is within our power.

Today I'm remembering that it's a numbers game, too. Last week I had one day with whoppingly high calories and two others that weren't so hot, either. BUT... in the long run, I've still managed to average fewer calories than I'm expending, and if I focus on that, I won't give up. It's a matter of the long haul, not the quick fix.

Hello,

A friend just told me about the tools she found at about.com and I'm finding a lot of helpful information.  I'm working on losing 20 lbs. and I've found that I really benefit from working with a personal trainer.  I'm grateful to find so many free resources on this website.

Success to all - and never give up! : )

Hi,

I have just joined this group, last week I think.  I think it is great that a group has started that is about being positive.  I believe that the amount of success in whatever we do depends upon how positive we are in life and how much we get from our friends and family; our support systems.  I work out regularly with  a personal trainer and keep an eye on my diet, even though I don't always choose the right foods.  I try.  I have been blessed enough to have a supportive group around me to keep me somewhat positive, especially about diet and exercise.  I would just like to keep that support going to those who do not have as much as I have been given.

I am going to add a quote that a friend sent me earlier this year:  "The road to success is not straight.  There is a curve called Failure, a loop called Confusion, speed bumps called Friends, red lights called Enemies, caution lights called Family.  You will have flats called Jobs.  But if you have a spare called Determination, an engine called Perserverance, insurance called Faith, a driver called Jesus, you will make it to a place called Success."

I know, slightly religious, but still it makes me think a little bit.  I hope it makes you think too.

I found this on a poster: "The voyage of discovery is not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes."  Marcel Proust

I love quotes,

Jenners

Awesome quotes Jenners! We actually have a TV ad here in New Zealand that is something similar. Its actually advertising a free financial budgeting website, but this lady is driving along in her car and all the street signs are about perservarance, hope (turn right) despair (turn left). I think the last one she reaches her destination and there is a sign that says "Indepence - Welcomes You"

Hey all,

I didn't realize I could join such motivational groups on this website!  My name is Brian and I'm from NH.  I just ran my first Marathon a couple of weeks ago.  It's been a long journey to get there.  I've lost about 100 pounds since I started all of this and I'm ready for my next adventure.  Ok, I'm rambling.  I just wanted to say hi, and I hope I can be part of your group!  Have a great day! B

Hey Brian, welcome! That is pretty inspiring to hear you have lost so much weight and completed a challenge like a half marathon. I did a 1/2 marathon a few years ago - when I was younger, fitter and leaner and I found that a real mission so I have lotsa respect for those that have accomplished the whole 42kms. I can appreciate how much time and dedication is required to get there so feel very proud of yourself.

Hi,  thanks for the warm welcome and for the praise, though it was a FULL marathon that I completed :)  (26.2 miles).   I feel like I am still paying the price for it.  My feet are still bugging me, but I'm still a little on cloud 9.   Have a wonderful day!!

hey, i like your positiveness, reminds me of 'the secret' im a recovered anorexic, and im getting healthy :D  if anyone wants to talk or anything im here

Aloysius,

I love the secret! It really changed my life. I've attracted so many wonderful things since learning it that I truly can't imagine where I'd be if someone hadn't turned me onto it. Do you use it much? I think it's fun to share about instances where you clearly see the law of attraction in action in life. (Gotta pay attention though :)

Congrats on your recovery....

Take care!

Yolie

Oops so sorry Brian! I think I meant to say full marathon. Sometimes my brain thinks quicker than I can type and things come out muddled. Big thumbs up. Laughing

Okay I might be being dense - What is "the secret" you are talking about?

"The Secret" is program on both DVD and as a book, also. It teaches the law of attraction. This is one of many laws of the universe (like gravity). It says that like attracts like. Even on the level of thought. Thought has a frequency, so when you think about something over and over, you're attracting it into you're life. The more strongly you feel about what your thinking, the quicker it manifests. The trick is just allowing it to happen. You do that by being grateful. Visualizing your desires also helps bring them into fruition. You create you world this way. So it pays to monitor what you're thinking and feeling. In short, just feel good. If you feel good you attract more things that help you to feel good.

Go to www.thesecret.tv ; I think that's right. Or just google it. It works for me everyday.

Yolanda

Thanks Yolie, I did what you said and googled it. Wow this looks interesting albiet pretty controversial. It looks something similar to what I have touched on reading other self-help books/tapes. I agree that if you think good things, good things will happen to you and vice versa and I really believe in the power of positive thinking! However I do also have to trust God/fate/Higher Power about asking for the things I want. Sometimes I dont always get what i want but what I need instead - including a kick up the bum when being selfish!

Perhaps it wasn't a coincidence that I came down with a cold after thinking unpleasent thoughts about a co-worker last week...?

I use to be such a control freak and would stress out if things didn't go my way - Now I try and go with the flow and trust that things will work out in the end and will happen regardless of me trying to fight it. In saying that I am not completely complacent and do work towards achieving goals. I think saying/thinking affirmations is a good idea and I listen sometimes to a Louise Hay audio book on my IPOD that has morning affirmations and evening affirmations. For me the most positive affirmation is to believe in and love myself. Growing up I was always taught to be humble and put others ahead of myself - however I think you can take this too literally and shouldn't do it to your own detriment. Once you are happy in yourself it seems easier to love others. Well thats enough waffling from me!! Out for a lunchtime walk in the windy weather.

Bigtum- I'm glad you googled it. I guess it may be controversial. I don't know. All I know is it works! And having faith in God/fate/Higher Power is also what the secret is about. It states that the Universe(God) matches whatever frequency you put out. So, if you're putting out a selfish frequency or vibe, you will get more of that. And there is a difference between what your ego wants and what YOU, the real you wants. If you're being selfish, it's just the ego. ") The fact that you're aware of this is great!

I used to be a control freak too. I learned from all my self-help and spiritual researching that the need to control is fear. Once I understood that fear is opposite of love and love is the way, it became easier for me to LET GO. That's what I meant earlier by allowing the good. If we just trust that the Universe will deliver whatever we truly want if we get out of the way and let it happen, it will.

Oh, and I love Louise Hay and Hay House Publications. I'm also a fan of Dyer and Eckhart Tolle. Somehow all these teachings do overlap. Like you said, it boils down to positive thinking, in a sense. Which is not a new concept. Only, I prefer to call it positive being.

Well, you see how I love this subject. I could go on and on..haha!

Have a great walk!

the secret is amazing! iv used it alot since i watched it!

my favorite experience is when i wanted to go to this evanescence concert, so i focused on me being there, i even got a shirt for it! and i was like im so glad i had an amazing time there! and my older sister came to see me and she got us tickets!!! then the best part comes, when ever i would imagine me there i would also picture me meeting her, and i would say, im so grate full i got to meet amy lee! and when i got to the concert a radio station guy walked up to me and asked if i'd like to meet the band, and guess what! i did!!!! it was amazing talking to her! i meet the whole band!!!

another cool one is after i read the book, i gave it to my mom, and she almost started crying, and i was like whats up? and she said that when she was a lil girl, she was selling girl scout cookies and she came across this house she loved! and after she went inside she would non stop draw pics of her in the house, and when she got older she actually drew each room and what would be in it and everything, and guess which house were living in? YA! she got the house of her dreams and each room its just how she wanted it!!! she had no idea she was using the secret but she did!

Yep, the secret is happening whether you understand it or believe in it or not. I have more examples of the law of attraction in action that I could post here! Some small, some huge! Like yours, aloysius. Meeting Amy Lee! WOW. That's great. A similar example that I have that happened to me many years ago was meeting the cast of Jesus Christ Superstar. I grew up watching that movie and the original cast came to my town for a performance, so I knew I had to go. I told my best friend, "I'm going to meet Ted Neely" (the star of the show). How did I know that? I just did. Sure enough, after the show, I went backstage and talked my way back there and met him! He met my whole family, too. We even got to meet and have dinner with the entire cast! Next day my friend heard I had something to tell her. But she already knew what I was going to tell her. When asked, "how do you know?" she replied, "because Yolanda told me she was going to." She'd seen me use the law before. She knew I would do it because I was serious when I said it. ") Even though I had no logical way of knowing I'd be able to pull it off! SO COOL!

I also attracted my first car, a burgundy convertible. Burgundy? Yes. I still have the picture I drew in my journal of the car I wanted. Sure enough, with no other resources, I got that exact car. I've got the picture to prove it! It works whether you understand it or not...

Ok, you guys are freaking me out! hahaha.  I willl need to check this out today.

Do check it out. It's just a natural law of the universe. You might as well work with it. ")

Good luck

(Don't be scared. Fear repels your desires. FYI)

Hello everybody

My name is Monique and I'm so happy to be on this site! My personal trainer was telling me about it and I decided to come and check it out. I need so much support and my motivation is lacking, I need to lose about 50 pounds and in two months of working out and eating somewhat right, I'm not doing so well, but I'm not going to beat myself up! I hope I can find more inspiration and motivation to reach my goal and I look forward to being on here!!
