Welcome to the Group
1. History with weight loss:
2. History with Calorie Count:
3. Reason for joining this group:
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:
And now just go ahead and make that first post!
1. History with weight loss: I lost 30 pounds with a friend in 2005(?) that was the extent of it... didn't even realize I lost it.. didn't realize I put back on plus 10! The only thing that tells me so is the scale, my jeans and my body's inability to cope... I don't think I've accepted it yet..![]()
2. History with Calorie Count: I joined and posted once in June 08.. am back at it..
3. Reason for joining this group:I attend a University and live on-campus
It's tough,, being older, alone and unhappy with myself. I know there are all the resources and networks I need right here! But I just need more encouragement maybe... that I can do this, it is possible!I almost feel like I need proof
4. Some interesting details about yourself,
such as
your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I'm Native American from the midwest. I have 3 sisters and a brother... we're all "big", but I am the smallest so... yeah. I currently am helping out at a bookstore in town... awesome. I want to be more active without the dread of being overweight. I can't believe that I'm "overweight".. Hard to swallow. I always thought of myself as being the "same" as the I was in high school, but looking at pictures (and picture comparison only) I've realized the huge difference.
1. History with weight loss: I lost about 25 pounds in 2007 by following weight watchers, and working 12 hours a day. I was grocery shopping for myself and a certain family member kept eating all of my healthy food I was buying so I just stopped buying it. I quit one of my jobs because I was going back to school, then I was let go from my temp job. So I was just in school, had a lot of extra time on my hands (which I still do) and picked all of the weight back up.
2. History with Calorie Count: well this is my fist day, I just found the site! It's going good so far, seems like I have a lot of supporters and support systems.
3. Reason for joining this group: I have been a college student since 2006 so I fall into this group!
4. Some interesting details about me: I am currently a full time student at LSCC (community college) in my area. After I get my general studies out of the way I plan on transferring to either UCF or the university in Gainesville to pursue my career as a forensic pathologist. I have a LOT of pets! I have 7 pet rats (they are SO sweet & despite their bad rep, really clean when kept in a clean environment) Their names are:
Cookie, Zoe, Serenity, Rex, Midnight, Occie, and Crypts. In addition to them, I have a hamster named Frisky, a mouse named Charlotte, and a dog named Lucky.
As far as family goes, after I moved from my hometown with my mom when I was 5 they stopped talking to me. So basically all I have is my mother, brother, and my grandmother.
I love music! My favorite band it Tool, love concerts I've been to over 50 ( I honestly can't tell you how many I've been to, because I've lost count. I also love anything art related=]
1. History with weight loss: I was really skinny (a picky eater with some anxiety issues that made me sick to my stomach) up until high school. I ate terribly throughout high school (we're talking entire boxes of mac n cheese, cans of spaghettios, frozen pizzas, big bowls of pasta, salami sandwiches...all at least twice a week) and was slightly overweight but I didn't really notice or care much. After graduation I stopped drinking soda and started paying a bit of attention and dropped 10lbs, went to college and dropped a few more. Sophomore year I wanted to lose some more so I decided to eat only 1200 cals/day, but probably ended up around 900 or fewer because I had to estimate due to dining hall food. Second semester I moved off campus and ate like I had never seen food before...went home about 22lbs heavier and was devastated. My body image was worse than before...which was already pretty terrible. I sporadically worked out in high school, but pretty much completely stopped once I reached college.
2. History with Calorie Count: I joined Calorie Count this past summer after coming home from college
with a bit of extra baggage and have lost 15lbs since June. I'm trying
to get back to my lowest weight from last year of 115, but the healthy
way. I was pretty skinny then, but I felt most comfortable and it's
well within a healthy weight range.
3. Reason for joining this group: A lot of my
weight issues come about due to schedules and stresses of life as a
college student, so this seems like the place to be! It also seems like
a good place to communicate with people nearer my age and with whom I
have a little more in common!
4. Some interesting details about yourself,
such as
your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I'm
a junior biochemistry and molecular biology major at UMass Amherst, I
have an internship to work in a pretty cool research lab and I get
credits for it as it is an honors requirement, I plan to go to grad
school for nutrition and I am looking into BU and Tufts, BU being my
top choice. Also, I have a 30lb diabetic cat and I love him more than
words can say!
1. I wasn't a fat kid, exactly, but I had a horomone problem that made my tummy swell up like I was pregnant. Yeah, that was great for my social life in elementary school. But unlike most kids, puberty was a GREAT time for me. All my weird big body parts (thighs, stomach) went to wonderful places (chest, butt). But loosing weight became associated with being more popular, so I tried really loosing weight to keep making myself feel better and better. Eventually, I realized that wasn't the case and people like me no matter what, so I stopped even thinking about my weight let alone dieting. I was terrified of the freshman 15 at college, but poverty is keeping that at bay. I'd been living on rice and beans and beer until I went home for the holidays and lost a little weight thanks to the complete lack of food, as well as my hard-earned toned body. So, I'm thinner but flabbier. Woo hoo.
2. I've been off and on Calorie Count, but not recently.
3. Support! We're all in a hectic time of life, and I want to connect with some party-goers so we can all find some balance between fun and being healthy. Right now I'm kind of running myself raw.
4. I eat the weirdest food wherever I travel to. I've had whole baby octopus, kangaroo, ostrich, wild boar, guinea pig, rocky mountain oysters, crickets, grubs, and shark to name a few. Writing is my passion, I'm quite the hippy, and I knit faster than most people write.
1. Well my wight issue all started after i had a child when I was 18 i used to have a normal average body then after i had my son i lost all my baby weight plus more because i felt a ton of pressure to fit in with all the other teens at my community college that worked for about six months then i began to gain a ton of weight because i got an office job and i ate junk food all day now my son is 2 and im still over weight its so hard for me because i work full time and i go to school so by the time i get off school like nineish im starving i really just wanna loose that extra weight while being able to juggle my motherhood and college life:)
this is the first time ive been on calorie count but im really excited
I joined because i really want to be able to offer support to others as well as recive some
well im now 21 i live in a apartment with my son and my sons father i work full time at a bank and i go to college at night at the local community college i try and fit in going out sometimes like to hang out with people
Hi everyone!
1. I'd always been thin, never super skinny but a healthy weight. I could always eat a lot and not gain weight and that kind of became my calling card. By the time I graduated high school I was thirty pounds over my goal weight. I rarely ate veggies and fruits, lived off Mcdonalds, and ate whole eggs EVERY morning. I realized I was setting myself up for a lifetime of bad health and bad self-esteem about my body.
2. I joined calorie count about 2 years ago I think. Thanks to food logging and the advice I found on this site I was able to go from 160 to 130 the healthy way, no starvation and no over-exercising. After reaching my goal weight I slacked off and stopped logging. And so, I put on ten pounds over the holiday season! So, I'm back because I realize I'm the type of person who needs to see in writing what I'm eating in order to keep up my healthy diet.
3. I'm joining this group becuase as a college student my lifestyle differs greatly from other members who work normal full-time jobs. I have day and night classes, work part-time, and have a house to take care of. So, my schedule and dining choices are unique to this group. I'm hoping to get some good tips on sneaking meals in between classes and how everyone fits in workouts.
4. I'm 21 and live on a really neat lake that is actually a state park. It's a very chill and fun place. I commute 30 to Mount Union College where I am a senior. I work 3 or 4 days a week. I live with my boyfriend of 3 years, our two dogs and cat, all of whom I love like crazy! ![]()
1. History with weight loss: In high school I took stregth training every semester for four years...a class that was 1.5 hours a day full of lifting and cardio...I was 135lbs solid muscle (other than a bubble butt)...Now I'm in college, well in my fifth year (Grad student) and I'm 145 pounds...NOT of solid muscle. I have extra weight in places I didnt have in high school! Saddle bags, my back, my tummy. High school I didnt have cellulite...hmmm. now i do. in college i played softball for 4 years so spring time would keep me in shape...but after it was over...i gained it back. the only time ive lost weight in college is from mono, hard cardio before spring training - and not having time to eat anything due to sports and work. :(
2. History with Calorie Count: Just started this week! I'm a newbie!
3. Reason for joining this group: I'm looking to change my lifestyle & habits for a healthier, lighter life. Looking for fun new cardio programs, tips on eating, scheduling, and motivational ideas, etc.
4. Some interesting details about yourself,
such as
your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I'm 22, a Graduate Student in Architecture, I work at an architecture firm i've been with for 6 years. i have an athletic past and my dad's side of the family...it's just getting the motivation and excitement to start...once i start its down hill and easy as pie then! I'm open to new experiences & techniques! So suggest away!!!
- History with weight loss: I am the middle child of me and my two sisters. They are both quite slim and I have always felt the 'fat one', in year 10/11 of school I became quite depressed and overly worried about my weight and lost alot, i didnt weigh myself I just didnt eat and exercised everyday in my room and went to swimming sessions. I remember my mum actually crying once because she thought I was anorexix-this in the car after a shopping trip, she would have bought me anything but I said I looked horrible in everything and didnt want anything. I then got with my current fiance and after the first year began to put on weight, i guess i was happy and took on his eating habits. I have now been trying to lose weight since starting uni, so for about 2 years as I feel uncomfortable. I lost about 10 pounds last year between April and July, then went on holiday and only put on about 3 pounds. I kept my weight the same from then on but then christmas came along and I am back to what I was last year.
- History with calorie count: I have never used this but I did use 'weight loss resources' last year which helped but you have to pay for it which is why I have switched to calorie count-I cant afford to pay!!
- Reason for joining this group: I have never told anyone about my weight loss goals, I think I feel that if I tell them it will be worse when I fail because more people know about it and expect more of me. I thought I would try it this time.
- Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: Im 21 in April, Im in my final year of uni qualifying at a primary teacher. I swim with a club as a hobby, I used to swim about 4 times a week and compete saturdays but I no longer compete and swim twice a week. I love trampolining but cannot afford to start proper sessions and am a bit apprehensive about starting a group this late. My sister is getting married next year!and me the year after so theres a lot going on at the moment!
Hi all,
I have been overweight most my life. I currently weigh 204 lbs, and my weight goal is 150 lbs at the moment. I exercise at least 3x per week, but that isn't moving my weight at all. I am new to calorie counting and I am hoping it will help. I need a friend to help me on my journey to success, for I am terrified of failure.
I am a freshman at Auburn University in AL. My major is Accounting. I am from the East Texas area, and I want to surprise my family and friends with the new me when I go home this summer.
Hello,
1. Over the last few years I have had various successes with weight loss. I lost 15 pounds at the end of high school and into the beginning of college. Slowly, the weight has come back on over the last couple of years and I struggle to maintain a healthy relationship with food. I am trying to get back to the healthy weight I once was. The constant change in weight is difficult.
2. I just started today, so I don't really have a history with Calorie Count!
3. I joined this group for support. I've failed a few times to lose my goal weight and am determined to make the effort stick this time. I usual end up gaining more than losing. I'm hoping that with support, I can really achieve the weight loss and become healthy again.
4. I'm studying Environmental Science at University and love it. I have two really close siblings, a brother and a sister who I miss while I'm away at school. I tend to always be traveling and moving around. I love watching movies and listening to music, but also love being outside!
1. History of weight loss: Well after my freshman year of college, I gained soo much weight. I used to be in a dance company and eating heathly came naturally. Now that has changed and I can't seem to stop eating. I have tried diet pills, exercise programs, nutritionists, cutting calories, and I cant find anything that works. I get bored or frustrated and just give up. This has been a 4 year struggle and I don't want to get any bigger.
2. History with Calorie Count: Just joined today so none whatsoever
3. Reason for joining this group: I am a college student and will soon be entering the real world and I am not happy with the way I look. I am not getting support from anyone else so I am searching for any help.
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I am fairly young, 21, and will be graduating from college a year from this may. I work part time at a retail store in a nearby town. I am really close with my family, but they live in a different town here in Ohio and I don't see them often. I have a puppy named Winnie and she is a long hair dachshund. I love to hang out with my friends, watch movies, and just to have a good time.
1. History with weight loss: Throughout high school, I maintained a healthy weight being active in sports. When I started college, instead of the freshman 15, I gained the freshman 30. After being hounded by mom about my weight, I changed my eating habits, began exercising, and dropped the freshman 30. During my junior year of college, my relationship of 1 1/2 years ended which caused me to lose 10-20 lbs for about 6 months. Now, within the last year, I've gained excess weight from stress and unhealthy influences.
2. History with Calorie Count: I started C.C. over a year ago but did not keep up with it. Since the beginning of the year, I've begun to keep track of my calorie intake, healthy food choices, and my physical activity.
3. Reason for joining this group: I wanted to join a group with whom I shared a similar lifestyle and goals.
4. Interesting details: I am in my last semester of college completing an internship for my Social Work degree program. I'll graduate in May and then begin graduate school. I work with disabled individuals with a focus in the deaf and hard of hearing population. I love going to concerts and having nights out with my friends. I've recently taken up the hobby of running 5k races and am loving it.
The main problem I have is after my girlfriends and I come home after having a night out and binge eating late at night. My food of choice is tortilla chips, which isn't good, but better than some of the other options we have in the kitchen. Has anyone else had/have this problem as well and come up with a solution or advice? Thanks :)
1. HISTORY with weight loss: I have always been fat!! My family is fat!!! I have tried and tried and tried to loss weight since I was in 5th grade ( mostly back than I would starve and binge). In 2005 I did weight watchers and lost 38 pounds, but than went on vacation and fell off the wagon and never recovered. Currently, I"m in graduate school, working two jobs, and have had to move back into my parent's house due to the economic conditions. The stress of it all has put me at my largest weight ever of 270 pounds.
2. History with Calorie Count: THis is my third day and so far so good....I've decided to work on watching my calorie intake and healthy food choices first before integrating physical activity (somewhere) into my life schedule.
3. Reason for joining this group: I interested in how other people manage to balance it all. It's hard to eat healthy being a college age student because social gathers are usually filled with bad food and alochol. Plus if you are poor like me its hard to choose convienent, healthy, cheap food.
4. Interesting details: My full time job is as a community nutrition educator!! LOL
The main problem I have is money and time. If someone has the magic answer please tell me!!!!!
Hi, I'm Kelsey
History with Weight loss: So I've been the chunky kid my whole life. I was never picked on much for it because I got along with everyone. Well, one exception they use to call me "cowsey" when I was like in fifth grade. I almost find it funny now. Anyways, I swam on a swim team my whole childhood and was pretty good. I made it to champs a few times but i was never fit like the others. In this last year I began jogging and recently joined a gym and lost 40 pound woooo woooop! Im pretty active however this last semester Ive been a bit more lazy. I know I can loose it I just need to get on track. :) I'm 152 right now and I'd love to loose 20 more.
History with Calorie Count: I use to use this website as a resource for my nutri class and it was very helpful. I just decided to utilize this website because it looks as if it can be helpful for more than just my cla
Reason for Joining this group: I'm just lacking people around me that are supportive manner. Just some guidence and tips would be awesome! yay!
Interesting details: I love going camping backpacking painting and chilling with the best friends. I want to loose this weight so I can learn to Skim board this summer and be as confident as possible!
Hey Everyone!
1. History, back in the fall of 2006 my roommate who is a big health and fitness freak got me going and I dropped 30 lbs. over the course of 3 months. It was impressive. I felt so good. Then he went abroad and my motivation was shot. I have gained all that weight back plus some. It took a former co-worker to tell me a looked like I was having a baby to get me to realize I had a problem.
2. History with calorie count. My girlfriend is on here somewhere and she told me to join so as of 3 days ago I am a member of htis site.
3. reason for joinging this group. I still feel like a kid, i graduated from school in December. Please don't kick me out!
4. I am a full-time music teacher now living in Chevy Chase, Maryland. My family and friends are all up in Boston, MA. I love boston sports and music. I hate passing by McDonald's because I think about how cheap a cheeseburger is there then I have to repeat to myself the # of calories inside that single burger.
Good luck everyone! We can do it!
1. History with weight loss: So I haven't really tried losing weight but I've realized that I'm not as healthy as I should be and I want to lose weight to help boost my self-confidence and make myself happier. I'm 5'3" and I weigh around 140 and want to be around 120.
2. History with Calorie Count: New to this, hopefully it can help me lose some extra weight!
3. Reason for joining this group: Trying to lose weight, I hope that it will provide the help & support that I need; College is a new experience and I'm trying to keep off that freshman 20!
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: No job, looking though. I miss my pets from home, I'm looking to adopt a puppy though. My interests are reading, shopping, and hanging out with family and friends.
1. History with weight loss: I have always hated my weight and body... which was made worse by my family always trying to put me on a diet or work out regime. Once I was bribed with a new bathing suit if I would let my sister be in control of my workouts (bad idea...). I have never been all that heavy, just not that thin either. I'm 5'3" and 140 lbs. The most recent 10 lbs have been adding themselves to my waist over the past year. My dream is to be at 115... something about that number makes me giddy! Reasonably speaking I want to be 125 by June. Being an RA has meant a lot of take out and being a vegetarian has meant a ton of cheese (sat fat) in my diet!
2. History with Calorie Count: I just joined this week, but I already feel guilty reaching for those cheezits knowing that later I will have to record them.
3. Reason for joining this group: I've been changing my diet for the past few weeks. I'm pretty sure what I am doing is healthy, I want to be confident with the choices I make.
4. Some interesting details about yourself,
such as
your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I'm a social work major, vegetarian, lover of social justice, resident assistant.... and more than a little busy! I currently work at the Armed Forces Retirement Home and I'm looking forward to my senior year comfortable in a new pair of jeans and hopefully down a cup size!
I am a 22 years old girl from Denmark, I study to become a socialworker and I'm graduating next january.
I've lost around 30,8 lbs (14 kg) in two rounds of dieting, the first time I lost 9 kg and was quite satisfied but i started gaining a little and in february i decided to lose a little more and I've lost 5 kg since then.
Now i just wanna keep motivated and maintain my weightloss. I am scared of forever having to count calories in order not to gain it all again.
A different issue is to get used to my body, eventhough this is the thinnest I've been in many years, it is not the most confident I've been. The last time I lost weight I felt great, new clothes and all that, but this time I don't even feel like I look that good.
I can't think of a number(weight) I would be satisfied with, I don't neccesarily want to lose more, that wouldnt make me more satisfied, it's just regaining my confidence, being proud of what I've accomplished and realise that I do look good, best in years probably:) But it's all easier to write than to do.

Welcome! We would love get to know you, so please tell us a little bit about yourself. You can choose any format you'd like, but most of us here share some or all of the following details:
1. History with weight loss:
2. History with Calorie Count:
3. Reason for joining this group:
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:
And now just go ahead and make that first post!
1. Well my name is Kandi live in Southern Cali, history with weight loss is that I had been overweight my whole life finally made a change and changed my lifestyle after had my son. Heaviest was at 210 when 9 months preggo and lowest in my adult or teenage life is right now at 127.
2. Joined calorie count in feb 09 but didnt really use it until today.
3. I wanted to join a group so that during this last 9 lb struggle I can be involved with others journing through weightloss.
4. Interest are being with my son, working out, and going to school full time right now for nursing takes up a lot of time.
1. History with weight loss: Well I've always been very athletic. I was a dancer and a cheerleader my whole life and was never worried about gaining weight because I was always active. When I graduated high school I weighed 130 lbs, I lived at home for two years and went to community college I gained about 10 lbs. The first time I left for school (140 lbs) I was very nervous and ended up losing about 20 lbs. I came home (120 lbs) to have surgery and ever since I have not stopped gaining weight. I have gained 25 lbs since my surgery and am now at 145 which is the most I've ever weighed. I figured it was time to do something before things get really out of control.
2. History with Calorie Count: I used calorie counter in college for a nutrition project. I remembered how it helped me. I knew that I had to keep track of everything so I was much more aware of what I was putting into my body and able to make changes.
3. Reason for joining this group: I am looking to make a lifestyle change. I need some support because I tend to stray easily. I just want to be healthy. It's hard running around going to classes and working and trying to fit in a work out and watch what you eat. I need some tips and advice from other people and I want to share what works for me and maybe it'll help someone else.
4. Some interesting details about yourself,
such as
your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I am almost done recovering from surgery that I had this fall. I'm just starting to feel better and wanting to be more active. I work three jobs which is about 75 hours a week, so fitting in a work out and a balanced meal is hard...especially when McDonalds has a drive-thru that is on my way from job to job. I am going back to SUNY Albany in the fall to finish my degree in Psychology. I have a huge family that I love very much. I love being outside in the warm weather, going on hikes or riding my bike.
