And now just go ahead and make that first post!
Wasn't specifically my idea, Tru. I think there are a special set of challenges for women trying to lose weight, but have hopes that this group could also provide a place for discussions on Women's issues in general.
sorry for the delay in my reply. :)
I've never thought about losing weight, because I've always ignored my body. I feel awkward and clumsy all the time, I'm very self contious.
This is my first time on calorie count. :)
I've joined this site to help me take better care of myself. I know my eating habits are horrible. I consume a lot of sugar and alcohol.
I work at a sushi bar named Gaijin and at La Baguette, a french pastry store. I draw women's bodies and sell them to collectors for money. I also sing at the OCCC Jazz Band where I go to school. I give off an outward layer of confidence, but inside I am not setting myself up for success, or positive feelings on myself, I am noticing my body is losing a lot of definition, and that I put myself down a lot, especially while I'm inhebriated.
Hi Everyone -
I have been exercising 3 - 4 times a week and the weight is not coming off. I have tried other diets in the past (with very little sucess). I wanted to try a different approach.
Found the calorie count plus website listed in a newspaper article and it perked my interest. To be accountable on what foods I should be eating is THE GOAL I will be working on. By joining a group (first time I have ever done this) I know I will need help and with the encouragement we give eachother, we will all make our goals.
I recently retired, keeping busy has been easy for me. It's the times I take a break from what I am doing that I find myself looking in the frige or cupboards for a snack I really don't need.
I do have a sweet tooth, and a love for Ben and Jerry, especially Chucky Monkey.
When I am not at yoga, water arobics, or Curves For Women, you can find me volumteering my time at a local non-kill Cat/Kitten shelter. I sort through and price the donations for their thrift store.
I am divorced. I have one son and last July he and his wife had a little baby boy. They live in town so I get to see my grandson every chance I get. As for pets, I have (I should say my son left me with) two dogs. I also have a cat, that I rescued before it was taken to a shelter.
My name is Kate I turned 50 this yr. I gained 40 pounds in the last yr and 1/2,
due to an injury that prevented me from working as a letter carrier and from exercising all together.
I have 3 children my girl is a figure skater on the Royal Caribbean cruise ships. Which I plan on visiting in a few weeks.. YAY!!!
My 2 boys are 16 and 19 both in school. I have 3 dogs and a new husband who loves me fat or skinny,......so hes NO HELP !!
I joined a gym in Feb. I have been working so hard at the gym, Zumba classes, Turbokick, power pump, weight training classes to name a few.at least 3-4 times a week 2 hr each time. I don't have ANY alcohol (and I love my wine) I stay away from breads, sugars basically low carb high protein..lots of fish grilled!
AND I HAVE NOT LOST AN OUNCE !!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY!!!!!!
I am so frustrated,,,if I worked out like this 10 yrs ago I would have been HOT STUFF!
WHAT AM I DOING WRONG.HELP
HI Kate -
Just call me PB.....
I joined last week and am going through the same frustrations as you are.
After retiring I thought "no problem, I will exercise 5 days a week, watch what I eat and the pounds will just melt away".
Since February, I exerise at Curves For Women, 3 days a week, with yoga and water arobics rounding out the week. I really want to loose 50 pounds.
My Curves trainer reminded me that exercise will turn that tummy fat into muscle and once you've built muscle , then you will start loosing those pounds. You are on the right track, for us '50's" gals it just takes a little longer for those pounds to go away.
My problem is yo-yo dieting and controling the portions of the food. I would really work at eating right, loose up to 15 pounds it's a matter of time before I gain that all back. SO I am using the Food Log to account for every food item I put in my mouth.
Kate - I wish you the best, hang in there, you are on the right track and you will be thin again.....
Hey Everyone,
I'm Kristen, Australian and just looking for a little support. I work at a gym and have managed to lose 10kg so far but I think I've just hit my first plateau - Yay!
To make my life wonderfully hard I have been made the "slim Coach" at work, running and maintaining a weight loss plan for my members - all the while being judges on how well I manage to lose my own weight.
The plan is great, structued regular eating, no meal replacements, it encourages exercise - its just so hard to be thrown into a position like this where my very appearence is the basis for whether or not the program is doing well. IM ONLY HUMAN!!! Lol.
Hey Well I have been up and down with my weight for along time.
Just started with Calorie Count a month ago just trying to see if it helps.
Joined the Becusae well I am a woman and thought it might help.
I am getting married on 10-10-09. I really want to lose alt before then and have about year to do so. My job doesnt help and sit most of the 8 hours I am here. My manger trys to get me to eat fast food with him all the time. I walk my dog 5 mornings a week and somtimes during the day with my buddy and his dog.
hell, my name is julie and I have had issues with my weight since I got out of the military. I guess no more six am workouts, is really hard on the body. I am getting married next August and wanted to lose some weight so I can feel good about my appearance when I walk to meet the man of my dreams at the alter. Calorie count is great cause it lets me see what and how well I am eating. It also helps my fiance see how much I eat too. He enjoys helping me watch my weight. I just started a new job that will hopefully not hender me too much.
Hi Everyone,
My name is Melissa, i am 23 years old and live in Ottawa, Canada. I ..like most of us has struggled with weight my whole life. I have tried all the yo-yo dieting...exercising...liquid fad diets. I will admit, i may have seen some results but they didn't last long. I think my struggle is routin and sticking too it. If i don't see results fast enough i give upa nd try something else.
I just quick smoking last week..i wasn't a big smoker but a casual one. One of my good friends is running her third 1/2 marathon this weekend....i have asked her to start training me for an upcoming marathon. I have always hated running..sports no problem but long distance running i have struggled with. She has made up a program for me, i will try it out for a few weeks and if i see results i will document them and share my plan with anyone who is interested.
Motivation is a mind set, some days i feel i am top of the world..other days it's like im crushed under a big rock and can't seem to move. I have gone through a rough few months and now it's time to focus on me and what will amke me happy.
A lifestyle change and wellness will follow. I wish you all the best of luck.I do hope we will be able to share our stories with one another throughout our weight loss journey:)
Hey Everyone! My name is Savannah! My stats are as follows: 5’3, 145, last known body fat was 18% (that was a year ago though!), 38 hips, 31 waist, 26 chest. My goal is 130lbs! I am pretty athletic, although like every human being I have my moments of inactivity and laziness, which just so happens to be right now! Haha! Well that’s not 100% true I run almost every day, but I don’t always run for 30 mins. I am in the military and I am trying to get my 1.5 mi down to 11:00 (it’s one of my goals!) I am also using a pedometer and aim to get 10,000 steps a day. As far as my eating goes…well it’s not the best and it’s not the worst. This is the first time I have started counting my calories. I didn’t realize how many I was consuming in a day (near 4,000!!!! Ahhh!) It’s no surprise I wasn’t losing any weight. But now I am going to give this all a shot and see how it goes. My calorie aim is around 1900. Some days I eat more, some days less. I am hoping that if I give my food intake a serious look I will be able to lose these 15 extra pounds that have been hanging around for the last 4 years! As far as my personal life, I don’t have much of one haha! I am 22 years old and have been active duty in the Air Force for 4 years now! My job is Security Forces, which is basically a glorified security guard, haha! Last year I made a whole bunch of big changes to my life to include buying a house, getting a new nicer car and getting my puppy, Dudley! I live by myself out in the country and love it! I have good roads to run on and take my puppy on. I am currently deployed to Iraq but will hopefully be leaving very soon! I enjoy my job immensely but the hours are long and my schedule is not always very accommodating to a healthy life style. But I always find a way around it. Good luck to everyone with their goals!!!
Hello!! Everyone.. Just notice this group forum today.. Been a member over here since feb 08 .. I would agree that we woman seems to have lots of issues on weight problems so am not new towards yo-yo weights.. Previously tried on food reduction only and it works really well .. Went for a full body check and found out that i'm pre-hypertension.. During my younger days,I used to be in the low category but due to heditary it has change towards pre.. Am in my mid 30's now.. my height is close to 5ft 2",small frame built, body fats 21.4%,34 hips,27 waist,36 chest, current weigh 48.7kgs(107lbs).. It's a little difficult to do calories counting for asean food so I would estimate them each time according to my portions.. Join about.com to find new friends whom likes walking and find a whole bunch of them.. So since they post in their walks daily,I had walking time schedule daily to share with them.. First of all,we set a personal monthly goal and work it out from there.. With the moral support that they provide,I find that walking is the best choice for me.. So every morning,I would get into a routine of wearing my pedometer, going to the bathroom, change into my short and tees, weigh in,drink 2 glasses of room temp.water and hop on my strider with my mobile in my hand and start air gliding and smsing.. My morning walk would be around 30 - 70 mins before breakfast, short 10 mins walk to buy lunch and after dinner walk til i'm tired.. My 2nd living room has a manual threadmill,a strider, aerobic stepper,a set of dumb bells and 2 types of stability ball(1 smooth and 1 bead) .. Mini home gym for my family as gym time open from 10am to 8pm only.. This way I get to watch tv or dvds while exercising.. Or grab a book and start reading while I'm air gliding on my strider.. Find that I would lose track of time and get carried away.. Whenever I'm tired of standing and air gliding,I would sit down on my stability ball and start moving left to right with lots of arms movement for toning up.. Have the tendency of moving up and down while i'm on it and it sure adds lots of steps on my pedometer.. Am good at keeping this routine for at least 5-6 days a week but come weekends and public holidays,it would be a very challenging time for me as my family members hate exercising.. Would try to meet my personal monthly goal and maintain my weigh below 50kgs for as long as I can.. Happy exercising and dieting..

Hi y'all! My name is Amanda, I am really excited about this group. I just joined today! I am 5'6 and 156lbs, my goal is 135. I never really struggled with my weight until my thyroid quit at age nineteen and I really packed on the lbs, I rocketed from 110 to 160 in less than a year. Four years ago I had my son and that did nothing to help the midsection. Last May my mil was diagnosed with colon cancer and my sil started a faith based organization to do awarness walks/runs and I decided that I wanted to participate, I figured how hard could it be? I always ran track in high school (note to self that was 8 yrs ago!) To say the least I nearly died on the course, it was awful! I really wanted to have support of other women that are unhappy and going through the same things.
I am a momma, and a wife. I have a bloodhound named Shamus he's my second son! I am a victims advocate for a Domestic Violence Shelter, and its a very stressful job!
I look forward to getting to know you all, and hope to make some really good friends!
And apparently I have been signed in under my husband, whom I am forcing to do this with me!
Hi, I am 39 years old, my husband died almost 9 months ago, I had a 8 day old baby. I have been doing pretty good inspite of having my life turned up side down. I am 5'2, 130 pounds, I would like to be 120, I need help with stress eating and night time eating. By the time I get my kids to bed (I also have a 3 year old), I am tired and tend to over eat. I am looking for any ideas on how to stop stress eating and late night eating. The more things in my life that can be back to normal the better I feel after the loss of my husband.
I am very active, have to take care of a house, kids, backyard, get wood for the winter... I do more formal workouts when I can.
This is my first time on calerie count, I hope it will help me with my last 10 baby pounds.
Hello there! My name is Tammy, I'm 24, and I'm overweight. I've been overweight most of my life starting through Jr. High. It was rough but thankfully I got through. I have gained on and off until today where I stand at a grand total of 209 pounds. I'd like to be in the 120 pound range!
It is going to be very rough to get where I want to go, but I think I can get there! I could use some friends to help to motivate me, and I'd like to do the same.
I'm your typical yo-yo dieter. I try one book and move on to the next without putting much effort into it. But I think by calorie counting, the numbers will astound me and put me in my place. Plus I want to up my exercise, I've started over the last few weeks!
I live in Nova Scotia, Canada, and I'm looking forward to new friends and a brand new me! So hopefully T minus 85 pounds and counting!!

Base on everyone's reply, most of you are unhappy about your weight and would like to learn to reduce them.. Since your weight takes time to add on,one should give time to run them away.. By adding exercise and reducing daily calories intake, one would gradually get there.. Had manage to learn and use all healthy ways to get to my weigh so if any of you need any motivation, please post in.. My first step of getting more exercise was to buy myself a pedometer and put it on for a whole day.. Situps and legups are the only strength training exercise that I do but I do a lot of cardio exercise ie walking.. It's the best exercise for me as it help to reduce my insomia and stress.. Since i'm asian,I do not know much ways on preparing western food but I would like to share with you some easy style of chinese cooking which are healthy.. If sugar is your worst habit, try popping a small square of dark chocolate and slowly suck on it.. (I would break a whole bar of dark chocolate(70% or more cocoa) according to it's squares and put them in a container in the fridge).. Each time I had to binge on something sweet,I would pop one into my mouth.. That saves me from raiding the fridge for other junk food.. If i want something fried,I would eat them before 5pm as them it would provide me time to burn them off.. I think most of you heard about this.. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a queen and dinner like a pauper.. If you can practise that then you wouldn't have any problems.. But most of us including myself have problems sticking towards 3 main meals a day so I suggest that you break 3 main meals towards 5 - 6 mini meals.. That way it would tell your mind that you have lots of food to eat and you wouldn't be binging.. Like any of my suggestions??? If yes, please tell me.. I wouldn't want to offend anyone.. Not sure if any of you would be able to read my food logs, activities and weight logs over at calorie count but what I pendown there is my true daily logs..

Hi,
&nb sp; I am 21 and from BC, Canada. I am currently a nursing student- can you say BUSY! I am sometimes an emotional eater... I can eat nothing to an apple all day (with copious amounts of coffee) or everything under the sun. I have osteoarthritis in my knee, which prevents alot of activity, particularly anything weight bearing. I had to quit my quasi active job, and now work at a desk.
I am 5'4 and 135 lbs... but not muscular anymore (My goal is 120 and toned). As I am getting older and entering nursing, I want to start doing things for myself- it would be so nice to feel sexy underneath my baggy eyes (did I mention that I get on average about 4.5 hours of sleep?). Thats about it for now... really I want to find a steady, healthy eating habit and some sort of exercise routine.
