And now just go ahead and make that first post!

Hello All,

My name is Kim. Ever since I was 12 I have been experiencing weight problems. I lost the weight in my teenage stages and once I started college the pounds kept rolling back. I believe now that my weight is beginning to affect my health and that changes needed to be made.

This is my first time trying calorie counting. I am the type of person who likes to see fast results alothough I know it isn't always that simple lol. I am determined to shed some pounds off, and I guess I am willing to try anything that works.

I would like to hear about those who have found their experience successful. This will help me feel more like I made the right decision.

My name is Dava.  I recently had a baby on May 4th and tipped the scales at 238.  Two weeks later, I am at 208.  I am breast feeding, which concerns me that maybe my milk supply will be reduced, but I am motivated.  I want to slim down for the sake of my mental and physical health, for my children and for my husband.  I hope and pray that I will stick with this committment.

Dava,

You can totally use this sight to slim down.  Breast feeding will use up calories too.  However you can not go too low on your calories.  Have you done your profile?  Or your calorie burn?  Checki out all the tools on this site.  So long as you get enough nutrition and eat enough calories, your breast milk will be fine, even better if you eat nutritional foods.  Is there an activity for breast feeding?  Check it out.

Hello!!! So i've been a member of caloriecount for quite a while now but am just recently getting into posting and joining groups.  I love to see how many people there are out there that i share so many things with (like calorie-counting!!!) I am a 22-year old recent college grad who's looking into grad school.  I am a very active person, and my part-time job is actually as a group fitness coordinator for a gym in town.  So when I am not either teaching or taking classes, I spend a lot of time @ the gym and love to work out.  I am also a pescatarian ( I eat fish), but could really live off of veggies alone if i didn't need the protein!!  And as i'm sure everyone else here is, I am a uber-meticulous calorie-counter!! Not really sure when it started, but one day I stumbled upon this site and stopped keeping napkins in my purse with my "food-log" for the day and just kept it all here! I lost about 15 lbs two years ago, just from starting to eat healthier (although i ate plenty of veggies and lean proteins, candy was my weakness...) and got to my ideal weight of about 130 lbs.  Unfortunately, I have now been having problems getting my calorie intake back up and have actually been GAINING weight on about 1200 cal/day!!  It is a very depressing feeling, but I know that I can turn it around (hopefully), and this is exactly the kind of place to do it!!

Thanks to everyone for your inspiration and wisdom!!!

Hey there,

My name is Destinie. I'm married with no children, but my husband and I are planning to have some in about a year or two. For now we just have our pets which include a pomeranian, a bearded dragon, a crowntail betta fish, and a black mystery snail. I love all of our little critters.

I work in administration, so it's a lot of sitting, working on a computer, and talking on the phone.

When I'm at home I enjoy working out with the wii fit my husband bought me about two weeks ago. It's so much fun and really encouraging. I also enjoy working on digital illustrations (mainly cartoonish art), singing (which I do publicly on request), and playing video games. My husband and I are also really big into musicals (we just saw Wicked live last weekend).

I'm also a neat freak, so it's not unusual to catch me cleaning house regularly. It's a chore to keep up after the hubby. He's one messy individual, but I love him. I also prefer to home cook my meals, and I prefer to buy my fruits and veggies fresh.

I started gaining weight when I was in high school. Before that I had always been very slender and petite. I went from 120 lbs to the 140-150 range in about two years. I had also stopped being regularly active because we had just moved, and I went in to depression. When I went off to college I got hit with the dreaded 'Freshman 15' as they called it, and my weight shot up to the 160s. I was still battling depression at this point and the medication that I was put on caused me to rise into the 170s. A few years went by and I just stopped caring and started feeling sorry for myself. When I reached 181 lbs in 2008 and saw a picture of myself I knew something had to change.

I started walking more. I went to the gym once in a while, and I jumped onto various dieting fads. Calorie counting was what helped me lose the most weight. I lost 40 lbs in 3 months last year. Then I hit a plateau. When the holidays came around I gained back 10 lbs. At the beginning of this year, I started becoming frustrated and confused as to why my weight loss halted. Then I remembered that I had stopped exercising and really hadn't been following the calorie counting properly. I just kind of started doing my own thing.

My husband recently bought me a wii fit, as I mentioned before, and it's gotten me active again. The community we live in is nice and I enjoy taking walks on the sunny days. We also have a pool and sometimes my husband and I also like to go play badminton or spar with training swords in the local tennis courts. I feel more energized than ever!

I'm losing weight again, but it's slow and it alters up and down. I lost two pounds last week and I'm currently at 146lbs. I have a small/medium body frame (I'm on the border), so I'm aiming for the 120-125 weight range for my height of 5 feet 4 inches.

I joined this site and the community because I love how organized it looks and I'm hoping to find a lot of encouragement and inspiration to keep going.

Everyone keep at it!

I apologize for the double post.

Welcome Destinie!!! You're already on the right track so just keep up the good work!!! (I'm a musical nut too, Wicked is like the only one I haven't seen...I'm so jealous!!! haha)

Thank you for the welcome. If you do ever get the chance to see Wicked, I highly recommend it. It was amazing! And the premium seats are soooo worth it!

Hi ladies, My name is Pam, mother to 3 grown children, grandmother to 5.  I had gained weight with every pregnancy and just couldn't lose it...I was 305 when pregnant with my last child, by 1985 I was 365 Pds.  In 1997 I got very sick and lost 120 pds, since then I've only been able to lose 20 pds, and every so often i gain 10 - 15 pds.   I had set a goal to lose 50 pds by August 2009 in March....I am an overeater by nature and I couldn't do it....I recently talked to one of my aunts that is on a 1200 calorie diet, so I decided to join her...I found this site and I could journal, and log every bit of food I ate and any exercise that I did...I think that is truly the key...I'm only 3 days at it and it's amazing how easy it seems.  None of you ladies seem to be as overweight as I am, but I would appreciate any and all input, tricks etc.  Peace and Love, Pam

Live in a v eruy rural area, with mainly seasonal residents--Nancy

Hi, Im Lauren.

Im 19, and have been unhappy with my weight since I was 15. When I hit 175 lbs. at age 16 i became bulimic and lost 30 lbs in a year. But stopped for certain health reasons. I quickly gained all the weight back, and Iv been at 175 now for a while (college can do that to you). But instead of losing weight the harmful way, Iv decided to try it the healthy way. Its hard to keep a healthy diet with no job and being in school, so that will be very challenging for me and I may just have to make up for it by working harder in the gym, but Im willing to do what it takes. I joined a week ago, and Im already down to 171! :) Feel free to add me if you want to talk or anything, I love making new friends!

Hey all! :)

I'm 18 (19 in about a month) and have an extremely petite frame. I'm just over 5'1" with tiny wrists and neck and huge hips!! I've always been told that I'm the human version of barbie because the difference between my bust, waist and hips is always over 10" which makes weight a very difficult thing. I currently weight 187 lbs, but my bra size is a 36 F, so I'm hoping to lose a lil' bust with my hips lest I need the dreaded surgery!!

Anyways, I wasn't so heavy until my freshman year in college and I just packed on the pounds. Mostly, it was from a combination of stress and eating almost nightly at work where everything is almost dipped in grease.

I love animals, so I am currently working on my undergrad biology degree and getting my teaching certificate. After those 5 years are up I would like to get my graduate degree in veterinary care, woo-ho for 9 years of college! I've grown up with animals all of my life, I've ridden in horse shows since I was little and helped my grandfather to rehabilitate and break horses since I've been fairly young.  My family also used to breed beagles and many times I've helped with the deliveries.

So there ya go, feel free to catch up with me :)

OK, well then hello!  I'm new, just joined Calorie Counter yesterday!  I didn't really start feeling concern for my weight until about a year ago.  For so many years I was pretty stable at 140, which is perfectly healthy for my 5'6 medium build.  Then I got a desk job and stopped being as active as I used to.  McDonald's was also way too easy to get to on my lunch breaks.  As a result, I put on about 15 pounds over a span of 4 years!  That is just weight, I'm sure I lost muscle mass too, so I may have actually gained more than 15 pounds of fat.  I became "skinny fat".  Yay.  So, I layed off the Mc'D's and started going to the gym.  I lost 15 pounds through a strict calorie diet and cardio, but never really got the muscle tone I want.  I went through a major life change shortly after that (I left my job at the Navy to marry my husband, who stayed in, thus transporting us to England for 3 years- my life got pretty hectic to say the least!), so the gym was too time consuming, and Krispy Kremes and big dinners became my go to again.  In what may have been 3 months I gained those 15 pounds right back, and then some.  In March I bought one of those body fat measuring things, and even though I've been trying to get back on track with my diet and exersice, it's staying at 148 pounds and 30 percent BF for about 4 months now.  I'd really like to get back down to 136 and 23 to 25 percent BF.  I'd like to feel sexy in a bikini again!!  I tried other diet methods ( I don't personally recommend Special K- we need balance!), but they don't really work.  So Calorie Counter seems like an excellent, no excuses way to get back on track and STAY there!  Does anyone else just LOVE the grading system of what you eat in a day?!  It's great!  Anyway, if anyone is in the same boat, feel free to add me!  I would love to have someone to hold me accountable, and me to them.  Sorry this is so long but I tend to talk a LOT when there's no one to stop me, lol.  Okeedoke, take care!

Hey, My name is Lacey.

I am 15 years old and I used to be healthy sized for how tall I am until last year when I started putting on more and more pounds. Currently I am 5"7' and weigh 170. I can't seem to get out of my fluctuating 160-170. Sadly, I have tried to be anorexic and got down to 150 but had that all taken away when I started eating again. My mom, who is 45, turns 46 in July currently weighs 140.

I am very new to the site so really I don't have a history with calorie count. I have counted calories though!

The reason I am motivated to start changing my life now is because I've realized that more and more people are dying because of being overweight and eating unhealthy. I also have a family history of getting diabetes and other diseases that accompany being overweight so I want to be there for any of my kids and their kids too.

Hi, I'm Carin. I'm a 30 yo working mom of 2 boys and married for 9.5 years. I've always been athletic, but since a death in the family in December, I've been struggling with 20 extra pounds. I've lost anywhere from 8-11 pounds, just to have them back within a week or two.

I've been with Calorie Count for about a year, but just since March, I've been dedicated to using it.

I love sports and would love to actually run the 5K Komen or MS charity run/walks that I do. I also have a 8 hr./day desk job, which actually keeps me motivated to run everyday so I can fight the inactivity I have during the day. I also have a Golden Retriever who used to walk or run with me until recently. She just can't do it anymore. :(  I also love to scrapbook, photography, and I'm dabbling in graphic design right now. I love to go to the lake in the summer and take mini weekend road trips.

I turn 49 this year and would like to be in great shape before 50.  I have managed to put on 20 lbs. over the past 25 years and for the first time--I have a muffin top that I will get rid of.  I'm going to try and restrict my caloric intake to 1500.  This has made me aware of exactly the kinds of foods that put on weight.

Hi, I'm Jess, turned 51 this year and can't believe where all the years have gone.  I've probably been struggling with 7 - 14 lbs all my life.  I'm under 5 ft and find clothing a prob unless I am near my proper weight.  I'm self-employed, most of my day is sitting at a desk though I try to keep plenty of breaks, in other words making myself go up and down stairs for any little thing just to get some exercise in during the day.  I find it easier to exercise in the morning as I am worn out by evening and motivation is at a low which means I probably comfort eat in front of the telly.  I now have a walker and intend using it more often while watching the telly.  I also need a cut-off time at night to 'stop eating'.  I joined about two years ago and gave it up very quickly but now I'm back and more determined.
