And now just go ahead and make that first post!

Hi everyone,

My name is Julianna and I am 34 years old in Sept this year. I have a 22month old boy who consumes most of my time after a fulltime 8 to 4 office job.

I have been struugling with weight loss for the last 10 years. I have tried diets and diet pills and have been able to lose 20Lbs in 2001 but eventually gained it back plus and extra 15lbs.

About 2 weeks ago I was invited out (I dont have a social life anymore since I had my son, I am a single parent and dont have family living close by to help me with babysitting) and realised that my jeans could not button and i had absolutely no clothes that fitted me properly! That was it I did my research and found this site and am now making a concious effort to exercise and track all the things I consume. I am trying to stick to a 1200 calorie per day diet and so far have lost 5lbs! I am pleased that I am making progress although I wish it could go faster. I am an impatient person.

Exercising for me is the most diffcult part of it, I try to work out at least 3 times per week at around 10pm(when my son falls asleep) to BB Amp'd taebo. Then on weekends I try to do some outdoor walking/jogging either Saturday or Sunday for 40 to 50 minutes.

I have read lots of posts and I empathise with everyone. Keep up the good work ladies and lets all keep encouraging each other...my goal is to lose 30 to 40 lbs and be confident enough to wear a bikini.

Hello Everyone

My Name is Hazzard! And I'm a food Addict... Lol Sorry about that just had to say it...

I am 25 years old. And have been struggling with my weigth since I started college. I work as a graphic designer and gallery artist. And both jobs I sit on my butt all day.

I have tried some diets and found some that work. But I finally figured out your head has to be in the game. And Im using my BF as motivation and finding this calorie counting site just awesome! I have been on the Big D for a week but just started this site two day's ago! And already losing weight! My Bf and I are going to the gym 3 times a week. (He is in the military, and we have a long distance relationship) I also ordered some fitness videos which I cant wait for! (Bollywood dance workout vid)

My goal weight is 140 or so but I would be super excited if I can get back to 130! I have a long hard road to go down. But there is a change in the wind says I!

Starting at: 207

Now: 202

Goal: 140

Calorie intake: 1300

Keep up the great work Ladys! You CAN DO IT!

HI! My name is Jena, Im 25 and I LOVE FOOD!!  Im a certified personal trainer and have made fitness and nutrition my lifes passion.  It feels great to help people make changes in their lifestyles to lose weight, get fit and be healthier!  But oh the journey Ive made for my own fitness!!  Maybe thats why Im so fired up about it, I know how hard and frustrating gaining weight and having to work it off can be- I know how AWESOME i feel eating healthy, exercising daily and how crappy I felt when I wasnt so on point.  Ive set my priorities, and nothing is gonna stop me!! :)  :)

I happened on to calorie count when I googled fruit facts.  Started cutting carbs down a little bit to see if it would help me bust through a plateau-  CC popped up and I was like WHOA!! Its kinda like myspace for health lovers!

I liked that you can look up calories burned through different types of exercise and all the daily blog posts I get in my email are always full of tips and info.  Im a glutton for information!  I pass on anything I learn to my clients..you never know what small bit of advice or new tip will be the key turning point in someones ability to keep on track, boost their motivation and fuel their drive to keep pushing!

Im 5'7 1/2....currently 150 ish.. I am an avid body builder so I have quite a bit of muscle on my frame, but Im also genetically a pear...thanks mom, and I always have to work hard to keep my legs and glutes lean!  Frustrating really!!!   The past two years was a bit rough for me, fluctuating from a lean mean 141lb up to a scary 167lb!!!  Some of it was from a bout on Zoloft, some of it was from starting a new relationship and going out to eat and drinking a bit more than I was used to...Ive dropped 17lbs since the beginning of the year and got my rear back in gear-   I have put on more muscle than when I was 141, so I may or may not get back down to that, but Im still looking to lean another 5-8 pounds off my frame.  I finally feel more comfortable in my clothes again and my energy is back...but I dont want to be in the 150's anymore.  Ive been having a hard time breaking under 150-- even with foog logs, exercise logs and an exercise routine that makes people go "whoa"....   Ive upped all my weights recently, push harder during my cardio sessions, and started paying attention to the number of carbs Im getting in my diet....I take the best supplements and eat great!  Just a matter of time....Im not giving up!   I have lost 2 lbs since joining....I love being able to enter in a new lower weight and see the decline on my weight chart!

Exercise and good nutrition keep my sane-  Ive ben successful at cutting the junk, and replaced it with a happy mood (ok ok not ALL the time)  self-discipline, self-respect and found so much self-worth!  I cant imagine my life any different now.  I never want to be lazy, over weight and out of touch and out of control again.   My favorite quote is "Make the most of yourself, for that is all you have"  from Ralph Waldo Emerson..... Its so true. No one is gonna look out for you more than you-  so step up and take your happiness into your own hands. you wont find it on the couch staring at the boob tube or at the bottom of a ben and jerry's quart of ice cream.....

I havent added many friend on here yet....but would like to!  Hit me up!

First Day w/ Calorie Count
Jul 22 2009 16:21 Edit | Delete

My name is Noelle, and I will be 36 years old in September.  I have 5 children, the oldest is 18 and the youngest is 7.  In late May of this year, I took a good look at myself in the mirror and nearly broke down.  The person I was looking at was so overweight.  I didn't even really realize how I had come to be so large.  I was unhappy and wanted to do something about it.  On that day I weighed in at 232 lbs, standing at only 5'03.  That was the day I started changing my eating habits.  Basically my goal was to limit my calorie intake and up my exercising.  For the first two months, I  limited my calorie intake, and did not exercise, but as of just this week, I have been walking everyday to and from work.  It's 2.5 miles each way, totalling 5 miles a day, 4 days a week.  It has been just over 2 months now since I started this diet plan and my current weight as of today is 211 lbs. I have lost a total of 21 lbs to date.  My goal is to get to 150 lbs, but if I get down to 170 lbs, I think I will be very happy.  I have never joined a weight loss support group before, but I am looking for all the support I can get this time:)

Bonjour Noelle!  Wow 5 kids- Im proud of you for taking time to focus on yourself and change the things that are dragging you down (literally).  Congrats on your weight loss thus far!  Stick with it and you wont regret it- life is too short ya know?  I just got back from vacation and I actually couldnt wait to get back into my healthy eating and exercise routine. Its part of my life, not a chore or punishment, but a vital part of my happiness and ability to stay sane.  Keep me posted on your progress!!  Im a certified personal trainer btw, if you ever have any questions about exercise or just need some encouragement dont hesitate to shoot a message my way :)

<3 Jena

Thanks Jena,

It's encouraging to hear that exercise may not always be so hard to talk myself into.  I wake up every morning knowing that im going on a walk, and end each day with the same.  Some days are harder than others to stay positive.  But at the end of the week when I weigh in and see that my hard work has paid off in loss of pounds, regardless of how much or how little, it brings a smile to my face and a spring in my step.  I make myself proud when I stick w/ it.

Thanks for your nice words

-Noelle

Hi my name is kristen. I have been on calorie count for about 3 weeks now and started at a terrible 248lbs. I am 27 years old and have two children.  I finally got to my ah ha moment when i found out how much i actually gained when weighing myself at my grandparents home 3 weeks ago. I emidietly kicked it in gear and starting doing pilaties 6 times a week and last week i bought a treadmill also. I have so far lost around 15 lbs. I would love to find some women that are in the same boat to help in the motivation department. I want to get down to 150lbs.  I am at 231 right now.  And am on a 1500 cal diet. Any suggestions or if you just want to have a freind to help you too, let me know.

Hi,

My name is Rebecca I am 36, a wife, mother of 4 and a police officer. I sit a lot in my job but have to be able to run at a moments notice.

I have gained way to much especially with my line of work. I want to get down to about 145 lbs. I have been struggling with my weight for about 6 years ever since I had a hysterectomy at 29. I started at 130 before surgery and am now at 221.

All of my kids are teenagers one is supportive of my efforts the other... not so much. I realized I need to work harder when I went to take a physical agility test for my job and couldn't make it. I struggle with portion control and I work really weird shifts and don't always eat on a regular basis...some days I only eat once if I get time to eat at all.

I would like help with ideas on portion sizes on the run and quick take along meals that don't need heating or a lot of prep and that can be eaten in the car. Sandwiches only get you so far.

I work out hard at least 6 days a week with weight training and at least an hour of cardo a day. I really struggle with motivation because I do work hard to watch what I eat but can never make any progress.

My goal is not only to loose weight but to pass my test.

Hello ladies

I just turned 30 in May.  I'm married with 3 children.  My oldest is disabled.  I have a cat.  I work from home.  I also have multiple sclerosis.

I'm 5'2 and 160 lbs.  I've gained 25 lbs in the last year.  I joined Calorie Count to be accountable for my calories and activity.  If I see what I'm eating and how much activity I'm actually doing on a daily basis, I'm more likely to stick with it.

I need to lead a healthier lifestyle.  Everyone in my house except my oldest is overweight.  Even my cat is overweight.   I recently took my daughter to the doctor, she's 9 yrs old and the doctor told me that she is clinically obese.  I have to set a better example for her and the rest of my family members.

The calorie count system automatically set my goal weight to 109lbs for August 2010.  I'm think I actually want to get down to 120lbs but I will keep the goal weight that was set for me by the system.  I was 120lbs in highschool.  I don't remeber the last time I was 109lbs.  It was probrably in middle school.

My biggest problem is I'm an emotional eater.  And I don't like to see food go to waste, so I eat after my kids, I eat the leftovers no one else will eat.  I eat when I'm bored or upset.  And then there are times when I just don't want to eat.  I'm not good at eating breakfast or eating at set times and then by the evening I'm very hungry.

But I know I can lose weight and I'm going to stick to it.

Well, I'm joining the group because up until I was 40 yrs old... keeping my weight down was easy in fact rarely a problem.  I was very active and could eat a lot.  Then, a had to get back surgery and was out of my activity margin and I was amazed at how fast I lost tone and strength ( of course I'm sure the Prednizone didn't help).  So, fortunately, I have fairly naturally reduced my portions and have gotten into a fairly good exercise routine that still ensures I won't hurt my back.  I try to eat well but chocolate is still a downfall.  I like calorie count is good because It keeps me aware of what I'm eating by grading my overall diet ( I like moderation).

Also, recently, I changed job positions and went from walking around for 8-10 hours a day to sitting 6-8hrs a day.  Must keep my body healthy :)

I'm a new member and excited to be a part of it!

I am 27 and never been concerned about my weight. I was fairly active when I was younger so I thought I would always be safe from being overweight -- boy was I wrong! I've noticed that I was gaining weight last year, and just blew it off. But now I feel like it's out of control and I need to get rid of it.

I just started Calorie Count this morning, so I am very new - I haven't even eaten breakfast yet. I really want to lost 40-50 lbs because I want to look better in my clothes and feel better about myself.

I invited my sister to join this group and, ironically, she had told me she just joined it a week ago! YAY!

So excited to get started!Laughing

I'm a brand new member :)

I'm 5'4 and I weigh 162 pounds.

At 19 years old, I am disgusted that I let myself go because of college and I'm in dire need of motivation and positive feedback.

I have always weighed between 145-150, but this year I packed on the freshman "15" which ended up being the freshman "12". I would be happy just losing the 12 pounds, but getting there is tough.

I joined because maybe If I shared my weight loss with other people who are on the same path, I would be encouraged and wouldn't quit diets after a couple of days.

I am very skinny in the legs and from my bellybutton up, but that lower midsection and my backend seem to store the weight! It's common, but I dont want to be another statistic.

I'm excited to start this :)

Welcome, tuesdayam 16!

I think you will find this site to be very inspirational and useful, and you will probably spend more time on it than you think! It's a great support. I, too, am new (joined yesterday) and have found myself on it quite a bit.

I want to lose 40-50 pounds (really big junk food eater) but I also want a total lifestyle change when it comes to food. That way, my mentality won't be 'this is temporary, I can stop exercising now, etc' and it will be more beneficial. Laughing

Well hello everyone!

This is my first day on the site; I actually stumbled across this site while looking for a calorie counter. So to begin, I'd say in the last 8 months or so I'd found that less than half my wardrobe fits comfortably (or even at all!), I couldn't get up two flights of stairs without needing a break and a glass of water, and the whole fam damily started asking me if something was wrong or if I was pregnant. So I decided to do something about it!

My history with weight loss is more of a history with weight gain. I currently weigh 168lbs (though today I'm celebrating losing my first five pounds), 30 pounds heavier than I was three years ago, and simply wish to get back to being in shape; I'm trying to be realistic. I'd like to lose 20 pounds by next summer, since my last goal to do so for this summer bombed. I joined this group because I need all the support I can get! Plus, I figure if I need help, maybe I'm not the only one... I can learn, I can share, and I think I can help.

I've started taking long walks as much as possible, even using my lunch hour to walk around town and then eat when I get back, as well as watching what I eat, and staying away from the sweets (I love to bake, but love more to eat everything I bake... by myself!) I also drink a lot more water than I used to, and am trying to drink more green tea in place of coffee.

I've tried and failed at dieting a number of times, so this time around I'm going for a lifestyle change. Hope to talk to you all more Smile

geishagirl00 - you still out there?  Still working towards a goal?  I'm 41 5'6 and trying to lose 20lbs.  The last 10 yrs have slowly "posted" 15+ pounds on my body.  In the last 4 years, for 6 months i count calories and exercise and the most i've dropped is 8 pounds.  I'm at my heaviest AND at 41... my heaviest gets higher and higher every year.

I try to maintain 1200-1400 cals.  I'm a Curves Gal working for 50 mins. 2-3x a week and try to walk/jog at least twice a week.  My question is....  should i be adding more calories on the days that i work out and only take in 1200 on the days that i don't?  Everything that i've read mentions putting your body into starvation mode (if) you don't take in enough calories to sustain; yet to loose weight, you're supposed to not go below 1200 BUT what if Im exercising?  I'm so confused!!  any suggestions?Undecided

just wrote a wonderful intorduction of myself pushed wrong button and lost it )-:

Will try again!  Hi Y'all

Marjg here 57, 5'7", 199. 3 kids 5 granddarlings. 4 sisters 1 brother. Gained weight in first time in 1985, was trying to live a life that impossible.  Changed that lost weight & then I sobered up in dec. 1989.  Life changed.  hysterectomy 1992. then in 1994 the weight ups & downs kicked into high gear. lasted on diet pills one day made me wacky LOL.  Like many I have tried it all.  Exercize is effective duh but I have diffculty getting balance.  too much or not enough.  presently not enough.  last oct. came from a job (travel nurse) and sat down because depressed. didn't really move much until july of this year.  started an anti depressant.  effective. side effect/ supposed to help curb appetite but i don't notice change.

did a class called First Place some years ago.  With portion and calorie counts and was very effective.  so started that at home recently then found calorie count. food log is good for me but i have the time to keep it up too.

past 18 months in my life have been awful (prior to that had years of smooth sailing over all).  3 deaths, daughter's divorce, hubby has COPD that is getting worse & he is 78 and mind is slipping some.  gave up traveling nursing which is ok but it is a big adjustment to learn to live with someone fulltime again.  i find that i really do like living with me and do much better with my food choices.

truth be known my hubby sabotages me and of course I let him at times.  we have talked who knows how many times about havin better food in the house.  We keep a huge garden with many diff kinds of fresh veggies. keep 3 freezers for winter veggies but he continues to buy chips, fried pies etc..  I make the effort to keep homemade pound cake (his fav) around.

I am an emotional eater and there comes a time when i get too HALT- Hungry Angry Lonely or Tired  - think "F*** it" and grab a fried pie.

all this to say----- what i am looking for know is the strength to do what I know  is right for me.  right for my health.  I feel good when I look good.  Thanks for listening to me

love & light

Marjg

Hi! I'm 52 years old, married, with 3 very active kids, and 2 dogs.  I LOVE to go fly fishing, but don't get the opportunity to get out as often as I'd like...  My daily responsibilities keep me BUSY, BUSY, BUSY!!!

I joined CC at the beginning of August and this is my first post.  My sister encouraged me to join and has improved HER health through the tools offered on this website.

I have been tracking my foods using the Food log and right now I am on Day 5 of the Exercise plan.  I have about 10.1 more pounds to go to reach my goal weight of 122.5 lbs.

It seems like I have been trying to lose weight ever since my first semester in college when I gained more than 20 pounds almost 30 years ago...YIKES!

During the past year EXERCISE has really helped me stabilize my weight and cravings for food.  I try to exercise mostly everyday.  The exercise plan on this website is helping me set up my own personal routines.  I like it!

ANYWAY, I'm looking forward to FINALLY losing those last pounds... and then to keep following a MAINTENANCE plan at my target weight...

Hello Everyone, My name is Marisol 47 yrs old and as of this morning I weigh in at 227pds.  On August 9, 2009, I began my diet at 237 pds & joined the gym.

I will say this is the very first time I have put my foot down on sticking to a diet. I remember losing over 40 pds in 1987 using prescribed diet pills. I maintained the weight  for 11 years. Late 1998, I blow up like a balloon (200 pds). I guess that wasn't enough that in 2008 I gained another 37 more pounds. The goodyear blimp had nothing on me.  Well, I'm done racing the blimp and  will say that this time, with the help of Calorie Count web site, I've found myself sticking to this diet without any difficulties. Getting to the gym every day is not a struggle any longer. My daily activities prior to starting the gym were minimal after becoming unemployed in 1/2009 and having no kids.

I have one struggle and it's food preparation. My culture food for one. I can't figure out the calories if I prepare homemade soup (spanish style). The receipe consist of pieces of chicken or beef, a potato, carrots, corn on the cob, celery, a mixture of spices such as diced onions, garlic, green pepper, celantro and oregano. Salt, pepper & adobo for taste. A cup of white rice is optional.

I have the same problem when I purchase Chinese Food. I love sprimp & broccoli in white sauce with white rice along with a egg roll.  Can someone help me with this?

Throughout my life starting with the age of 19, I have gone up and down in dress size ranging from a regular 14 to 20W. Right now I'm in between 16W & 18W.

Marisol

Hello,

My name is Jessica and i recently joined calorie count.  I have never realy tried to lose weight i mean an occasoinal work out here or there but nothing real sersious.  I finally decided to loook at my self in the mirror and look at me as i really am, over wieght.  I think it has been one of the hardest things to realize but i a want to change the way i look.  I think i realized that i dont have to stay overwieght and counting calories has made that much easier.

I started gaining whe i started birth control and then when i started college and agian when i got married.  marraige was the biggest you just get comfortable with who you are and the person you are with.  Or you ignore what you look like and see a totaly different person in the mirror.

well that is about all i am trying to lose about 60 pounds so we will see how counting calories will go!!!
