Hello eveyone my name is leann i am 23 years old and i need to lose some weight for both person reasons and health. I have always kept my weight under control until my late teens i packed on a few spare tires and havent really care to much to do anything about it until now. I have been working out for a while now i have lost 7 and 1/2 pounds so far. I am very new to online weight loss help but most of my friends are skinny and dont really seem to understand when i open my mouth about my wight. So i thought i would get help elsewhere. the group came up in my matches and i think it would be easier for me to talk to a woman going though the same things then a man . So ladies lets support each other and kick the punds to the dump.

Welcome aboard 09,

At 23 I would have been one of those friends who didn't understand.  You are right about this group and the support you find.  I have been looking for support 30 years longer than you.   Don't rule out info from men.  Check out the blog success stories.  Some of those will blow you out of the water.  One in particular offered good sound how to's and advice that is doable.  Keeping up with my calorie count is effective for me.  Also exercise.  When you go to the mall park on the far side of the parking lot.  that is where i started.

I could go on & on but won't now.  glad you are here with us

love & light

marjg

I am 29 going on 30 I have been on calorie counter for a little over a month. I have 3 daughters ages 9,8,6. I love to crochet, sing, dance, and watch musicals

I just joined today.  I am 49 years old and I quit smoking 2 months ago.  I needed to lose 25 or 30 pounds before I quit smoking...... now it is 42 pounds.  Prior to hitting mid life I was always around 130-135 pounds.  Well, that was then and this is now.  I have never enjoyed exercise and I have always had low blood pressure.  When I was in grade school I remember getting dizzy from playing tag....... so I have never been considered active.  I work in an office or in my car driving to an appointment.  Sedentary profession and a sedentary lifestyle.

I am hoping that I can find someone on Calorie Counters in a similar place so that we can encourage and support each other.  I need to make better food choices and to be concious of portion.

Best wishes to all of you...

Jennifer

Hello

I just joined today. I'm 19 years old student from Macedonia. I'm tall 5"6 and have only 105 pounds. I realy need to gain weight ,and I hope conatcting people with similar problem will help me to get trough this and solve my underweight problem.

Anyway I hate when someone says to me "OMG You are so skinny" or "You should be a model" . . . I realy feel insecure about my self , and those comments are not helping me cause they dont understand how hard it is to gain weight.

Hope we all get our ideal weight

Love yaa

Luiza

Hi everyone, my name is Alycia, I'm 30 and live in the UK.

I have been trying to loose weight on and off for 7 years now and at the end of every year, despite my efforts, I end up heavier and unhappier. This time I am not going on 'a diet', I intend to look honestly at my eating habits and find out what I'm eating and why.

I'm also trying to fit more exercise into my everyday life. My dog thinks this is great, he's never been on so many walkies!

Any help and support will be gratefully received and reciprocated.

Alycia

My Name is Kayla. Im 19 soon to 20. i just joined cc not that long ago but i love it becus it really has helped me see how much i was eatting.  i would like to lose maybe 30 pounds and make friends of course.

Hello Hello!

I guess it's my turn!  My name is also Jen. I'm 36 and live in Virginia and I am an engaged mother of 2.  I have a son that's 15 and will get his learner's permit this weekend, and a daughter that is 11-going-on-20.  I have a Mr. Wonderful in my life... finally... and hope to get married within the next year or so when I get out of school.

I'm a full-time Instrumentation student and also work part-time when I'm not in class.  My life-plate is full, which equals lots of stress and rushing to get it all done, which turns into a full food-plate.. or 2 or 3... you get the picture. I am 5'4" and weigh 180 lbs, which is the heaviest I've ever been.  I've struggled with my weight since I got out of high school and got my first job at Dairy Queen.  I was able to eat any mistakes I made, and I made lots of mistakes making ice cream cones and sundaes... what?  I was a slow learner! I am having a terrible time finding time for exercise with so much going on.  Two days a week I have class from 8 in the morning until 8:30 at night.  I just can't seem to figure out a time I can get it in!

I have been using CC off and on for a couple of years. I thought I'd join this group because even though I've been on CC for all this time, I've never made an effort to participate in a group or find friends or post on forums.  I haven't used the site to it's fullest potential. I also seem to be overwhelmed with an overall goal.  I need a more short-term goal and Christmas is a great time for setting one!  I am shooting for 20 lbs by Christmas!

I have noticed lately that I am out of breath just walking to class, and I am tired of being tired all the time.  I'm tired of having to wear "fat-lady" clothes that make me look like I'm older than I am.  And I'm tired of being embarassed of my outer appearance.

I've already mentioned 2 of my children, but I do have a 3rd "child".  Her name is Phoebe and she's a 6-month old Cocker Spaniel.  She's a complete and total handful.  Having her around reminds me why I got fixed so I couldn't have more children!  But the funny thing is, when I thought about getting a dog after so many years of being without pets, I pictured me walking her in the park every day and playing with her and all of those nice things.  I rarely do anything more than walk her right out the back door to use the bathroom!  Arrggghhhh!!!!  Even the dog is suffering because of me!!!!

I'm looking for friends, motivation, accountability.

Hi everyone! I'm a newbie and joined this sight because I'm 50 years old diagnosed with Hypothryroidism and have been told will not be able to lose weight because my thyroid is being destroyed by my body's antibodies. WONDERFUL!!  I've been a fitness instructor for 20 years and some days I'm teaching 3-4 classes and I'm still not losing any weight.  I thought I'd keep track of everything I put in my mouth as well as how much I exercise and see what I can do on my own without the doctor's help.  Oh, the doc could put me on medicine, but I've chosen at this time not to.

I just thought I'd mention what's happening to me and see if anyone else is going throught it.  Also, I'm post menopausal so there's another wammy!!! I'm not producing estrogen to build muscle!!  I'm glad I still have optimism!!

Hello All! This is the first time I have ever posted in a forum....oooo.... :) I am currently trying to lose 20 lbs. I am having a  hard time with it so I'm joining this forum! I currently am on tour with my job so I live on the road which has made healthy eating almost impossible. I am welcome to any ideas about healthly snacks that don't require alot of prep. I'm a grazer and eat lots of little meals. I had a question to throw out there. I know some people have had better success by having just alittle bit higher calorie intake then the 1200. When did you decide to increase your intake? I think I will be here frequently! Thanks!

Hi everyone!!  I am new to CC and joined because I want to eat healthier and lose about 10 pounds.  I go to the gym regularly, but haven't been able to lose any weight due to my eating habits.  I usually eat well throughout the day, but snack a lot at night.  I often times eat when I'm bored or upset.  Sometimes when I'm sad I'll actually eat until my stomach hurts I'm so full!!  I guess my biggest goal is to control my eating habits better and get into shape.  Now I'm also trying to count my calories.  My husband and I moved away from our families and friends due to our careers, so I don't really have many supports to do this stuff with.

I'm 24, married, work full time as a social worker and go to grad school.  We have a cat and I volunteer at a local animal shelter.

OMG!  I hear you!!  First, congrats on going to the gym regularly!!!  Question for you.....what exactly do you do at the gym??  Are you doing atleast 20-30 minutes of some kind of cardio?? Classes? or weights and/or machines?  Once you answer that question, tell me how hard are you working out?  If you are doing cardio are you getting your heart rate up enough?

You mentioned you are eating pretty well during the day. That's GREAT!! What kind of snacks are you eating at night?  Have you ever tried the 100 calorie pack snacks or 100 calorie Jello Puddings ummmmmmmmmmm they are really yummy!!  How about yogurt?? These are things that are very good for you are filling and makes you feel like you're cheating when you aren't!!

Hello,

I'm Beth, I'm 18 and have just started uni!!

Since starting uni i've found it really difficult to eat at all, let alone healthily!!! I can't really afford meat!! Sine being here I've lost about 12 pounds, so this kick started me!! There's a gym at uni that was meant to be opening in September but it's not open yet, I need it now!! I'm here so that i can record what I'm eating and actually try to lose weight healthily. I eat one meal a day usually, it's too much effort to cook anymore than that!! I need to get back into the habit of eating three meals a day. Hopefully with some support, I'll start eating healthily and lose weight!!!

Thanks x

monibuds-

I usually do about 30 minutes of cardio and about 15 minutes of free weights.  Sometimes longer depending on my schedule.  I change between the different machines, like the treadmill, bike, eliptical.  Honestly....I think I need to work harder at the gym.  I get my heart rate up, but I think I could put more effort into it.  About eating at night...I do have the 100 calorie packs but I will still eat more then I should.  I know it sounds so simple...just don't do it.  So, I don't know why I struggle with it so much.  Then after I over eat I feel guilty.  I've been doing well with it recently, but having a stressful day at work usually triggers it.  I think I'll try the yogurt and sugar free pudding...the caramel one is awesome!

Thanks so much for the advice and encouragement!  Talking about it helps.  I need to start working harder at the gym and find another outlet besides food for when I have a bad day.

Scouglin,

It sounds like stress is causing your problems...anyway of taking a break at work and getting outside for a quick walk??  I'm head of the Wellness committee at my work and I brought in walking videos for anyone who wants to use them during their lunch break.  I chose to work through lunch so I can get out earlier, but on Wed. & Fridays I walk with 2 others either to the videos or outside on clear days and we take about 15 minutes just to get away from the job.

Try to get away from the stressors of work a couple minutes throughout the day...clear your mind and think of the great things in your life. I know it's not always easy, but this is your health and well being....don't let stress beat you up!!

monibuds:

Thanks for the ideas!!

Good Aftenoon All,

I just posted my first posts and journal entry...basically, I need help and support from everyone! I have tried to go it alone and I CAN'T! I tried to be superwoman and I'M NOT! I'm admitting it....(shhh, don't tell my hubby)! I need to lose 100+ lbs and I am going to do this the right way! Thanks in advance for all your help!!!!!

beth_91

You should be eating 3 meals a day + snacks!! your body thinks it's in starvation mode!! What helps me is cooking 1 big batch of food and freezing them!! Like for instance, make a big batch of spaghetti sauce, cook some whole-wheat noodles (can't really taste the difference with the sauce) and freeze them!! How do you think frozen meals were made! Same applies to most foods, like soups and shepard's pie and what not :)

I agree with meat being pricey, searching for those specials pay off!! As for workouts, if you don't have a gym available to you, improvise at home (i know, much less motivating but it still does the work)

33 and now weight more than when I gave birth to my child.  I lost a lot of weight a few years back after my divorce, but I've gained it all back and some.  I am pretty sure my weight issues are more related to stress than anything else.  I would love to loose 40-50 lb, but do it right so I can keep it off easier.  I lost all the weight after the divorce I am sure because my issues were over and I could live my life.  Well now I have work related stress and a wonderful husband who loves me the way I am.  So I am loosing for myself and no one else!  I love the outdoors and wish I had more time to spend there.

1.I was always chubby in elementary school.  I have always been involved in sports, but used to eat all the time so i was always gaining a little weight.  The summer going into seventh grade Was when i became intrigued  with health and fitness.  I am now in 8th grade, and lost about 10 pounds.

2.This summer i started to keep a food journal, but gave up after about a week or so.

3.I joined this group because i am looking to lose about 5 pounds.  This summer i weighed 109 all summer.  As soon as summer stopped I went up to about 114, but i didn't stop exercising any less then i did over the summer.(I didn't grow at all either)
