Hi.

I thought it would be a good idea to stop at 207 lbs. My weight should be 167. I've never been so fat in my life. It is hurting my self-esteem. I started  two weeks ago, but I just joined CC two day ago. wish me luck.

Markus

Welcome, sounds like you and I are on same path and almost have to drop same amount. I'm told I should be around 167 but I'll be happy if i canget to 175. My strategy is smaller monthly goals of about 5lbs loss instead of facing the whole "mountain" at once. Best regards

Hi all -

I am in my mid-twenties, a former star high school athlete, who has just let himself go.  I currently weigh around 220 lbs. and would like to get back to the 175 lbs. of my playing days.  I work at a small private school and spend a lot of my time behind a desk, so making time for exercise is sometimes a real problem for me.  I am the fattest I have ever been and am utterly depressed at how far I've let myself fall.

My biggest problem though is my eating habits - it's not so much that I have terrible nutrition as much as the fact that I just always seem to be eating - snacking in between meals and before bed.  I realized that I was taking in far more calories each day than I thought possible and this is to blame for my continued weight gain.  Thus I am joining CC to keep track of my calories so I can be aware of how many calories I have eaten (and help me to know when to stop!).  I am joining this group beccause I know that I'll need the moral support to get me off my butt.

Thanks all!

Thanks for the encouragement. Everything is working fine so far, except Saturday night I went to a party and I ate 1700 calories in snacks... but Sunday was a good day. My goal is to loose 2 per week. I'm working on it...

good look with you.

Markus

Hey Guys,

I am 35 and just weighed myself on vacation and discovered I hit 241 pounds. At 6-3 it is the highest I have ever weighed. Some of it (2-3 pounds) is surely muscle weight from the basement weight room/man cave I created, but the rest is surely the pizza, chips, cookies, coke, fast food, etc. (Did I mention my wife has lots of cravings now because of pregnancy. I have been very supportive in participating in the snack attacks).

I found the site because I was searching for breakfast foods under 200 calories as that is the calorie count in a Slimfast shake, and that diet worked for me in the past. But, I am done with Slimfast, and this site looks like a great launching pad to getting back under 200. Some sites say 180-185 is a good weight for a guy my size, but I haven't weighed that much since high school.

Anyway I am lifting free weights 2-3 days a week, when my toddler let's me, and walk the dog alot, but I was litteraly eating a bag of chips a night at my late night/early morning job. Time for a change.

Hi all,

This site has been extremely helpful.  I joined in January after ballooning up to 220 lbs (I'm 6'2").  I've never tried to lose weight before and I thougth it would be really difficult.  With CC's help, I started tracking calorie intake and after seeing the damage I was doing to myself,  made some important changes in diet.  The changes have been great, I am rarely hungry while taking in around 2000-2200 calories a day.  Chicken tacos, ahi salads, turkey sandwiches keep me satisfied.

I'd exercised on and off for years but have been going at with gusto this time.  3-5 times a week, lifting and heavy cardio.  So far I've lost 15 pounds and am shooting for my early 30s weight of 195.  10 more to go.

Hi,

I suppose that I am here because of a curise.  Actually it was two.  We needed to travel from New Guinea to the states.  My wife doesn't like to  fly.  She ask if we could take a ship.  I didn't care.  She started on the web, first checking out cargo ships and then found a 21 day cruise from Sydney to San Diego.  The price was about the same as airfair.  So we booked.   There was only one problem.  We had to wait a month for our ship.  What to do.  Sydney is an expensive place to stay.  We found a second 13 day Sydney to Sydney cruise.  Food and lodging for cheaper than a hotel.  thus 34 days of really good food.  I confess, I did try a bit, but eventually, I just gave up and enjoyed all the good food.  when I got home, I was probably the heaviest that I've ever been.  174# on my 5'-5 frame.

Had a good visit in the states and now we've moved on to Puerto Princesa City.  So far it's been paradise but a little on the hot side.  I do eat out too much but am trying to be good.  Lost a couple of pounds but still have 25 to go.  The goal is to get back to me wedding weight by my 65th birthday.  Haven't seen that weight since I was 21.

Hey guys,

I'm 22 years old and brand new on CC. I'm currently carrying 225lbs on my medium-built 6'4 frame, want nothing more than to bring that down to a powerful 195. I used to lift a lot of weights and run regularly, and while I wouldn't have been on the cover of Men's Health, I was healthy and really happy about it. Two years ago I was in a motorcycle accident that sidelined me for about a year and I ballooned up to my current weight. I've recently applied for my Firefighting 1001 Professional Qualifications and need to quit dawdling and procrastinating.

My biggest obstacle is that I like food way too much. Nutritionally speaking, most of my calories come from good sources, but too much of a good thing is an ineffective diet plan. I like running, I love lifting, so getting my exercise isn't a problem... employing some restraint and being disciplined about when and what I'm eating is what I'm after and the reason I'm trying this site out.

I'm looking forward to being here with all of you, I can already see why it's earned such a good reputation. Take care guys, keep disciplined, live healthy and I'll talk to you later. BTW, Booker412, from one Telecaster player to another, nice choice in profile pic.

My name is Don Hayes I am retired from the U.S. Navy.  When I was in the military I got paid to PT and at one time I was a triathlete.  Being 6'4" tall with a large frame I was not a very competitive one but I could finish in the middle of the pack.  When I used to bicycle race the other guys said they loved drafting behind me because it was like being behind a truck.

After I retired I got a job driving truck all over the country and sitting behind the steering while all day and eating at truck stops not good for weight.  I have been working at a prison in Montana for the last 5 years and have moved up to administration when I was on the floor I walked 12 hours a day but today not so much.

My wife used to be a aerobics instructor and personal trainer until her knee stopped working it has been years but she is finally able to run again.  I got on the scale a few months ago and it was at 298.  I told myself that no way was I going into the 300eds.

Since the middle of January we got a membership at the local wellness center and have been getting up at 4:40am and at the gym by 5:00 and putting in an hour a day.  Now we are up to lifting weights four times a week and I have got to the point where I can actually run 3 miles without stopping.  We have been using CC for keeping track of our food intake and calories and this morning when I got on the scale I was at 278 so I have lost the first 20 pounds 70 to go.  I want to get to 199 pounds the last time I was there was 1978.  Even in my Triathlon days I was about 210 but that was all muscle then.

So I am just trying to keep motivated and dedicated for life long change.

Hi everybody,

My name is David, about 210 lbs, 5'9", 45 yrs., and sit at a desk for 9 hrs. at work and am starting to walk (brisk, steady pace) for an hour about every other night (two weeks now).  I just started the CC program today.

Like everyone who is over weight, the quality of my life is not as high as it was back in the day (155 lbs).  The weight came on much like a tree grows new rings...  One day I realized most of my cloths didn't fit right.  Shopping for new is a real eye opener.  Yes, I am fat.  The labels tell me so!

I have been watching "The Biggest Loser" for three seasons and if those poor souls can do it, anyone can.  I know I need to eat about 2,000c a day and needed to find out the count on everything that is consumed.  That quest got me here...

The only note I would add is to listen to Jillian Michaels' pod cast/net (do a google search, it is for free) on KFI 640 am radio (L.A.).  She has a Sunday show, 1.5 hrs long and has great info.

Welcome David, sounds like we are in the same boat. I was at 205+ ( stopped looking may of hit 210) nothing fit, tired all the time and not too happy with myself. Started getting serious about 2 months ago, at 195 now with my goals set at 5lb drops to around 175 by August. Walking in am 30  minutes or more and 60 minutes on weekends. Trying to get into exercise habit on a gentle way, added 6 flights of stairs each day last two weeks, while relearning how to eat at around 1500 calories a day. Looking for sustainable weight loss and fitness so avoiding a gym or expensive programs that I would not stick too. A big challenge has been portion sizes and avoiding my comfort foods like potato chips ( 320 cals in small  bag of Lay's.........who knew!)

Best regards

Hi all.

My name is Soren, I'm 22 years old, 220lbs and 6' 4" so I figured it was time to do something about it. I've started running 2-3 days a week and taking more care what i eat. Now I try to stick to a 2100 cal diary, with 5-6 smaller meals a day. I'm a student so i usually spend 8-10 hours studying a day, and it is hard to not snack all the time while reading. Now I try to mix up the reading with a run or a bicycle ride and not eat all the time.

My goal is to get down to 190 pounds by august. So here we go.

Soren

Hi Countbrian,  Thanks for the reply.  I took a page out of your play book.  The building I work in has five floors, I am on the 4th.  So far I have managed to pull down 5 flights before lunch...  Thanks for the tip.

Today is Day three for me.  My calorie intake has been 1360, 994 and after lunch today, 862 ~ Panda Express for a lunch/meeting :(

Step away from the Lay's!  ha ha

The stairs can be a killer but I always feel better for doing them. I am trying for 1500 cals a day with all low GI foods with minor success but I have hit 194 today for first time in a couple of years.

Jason here, just found CC a few days ago.  I'm 33 & have been at least 200 lbs since I was 16 yrs. old.  I'm a minister & always want to lose the weight but never had the longevity to stick to it.  3 wks ago I approached the US Army about their chaplaincy program.  After everything else went great the Sarg. said I had to at least lose 3 inch from my stomach.  I weighed that day at 247 lbs.  Since then I have lost 15 lbs. in 2 1/2 wks thru intense exercise & a strict food intake of about 1500 calories.  I'm down to 232 now with a goal of 190 lbs. by July 4th.

Although I've never been able to lose & keep it off this time I don't find myself craving much or overeating.  I usually eat an apple & orange for breakfast after 30 min on the eliptical & 15 min on the nautilus.  I try to get my heart rate between 125-140 BPM & keep it there for about 20 min.  Lunch is usually a regular salad with a lean meat & lite Italian on top.  I'm usually pushing about 600-700 calories after lunch.  That leaves another 700-800 for the rest of the day which is usually a snack about 3:00 & supper about 6:00pm.

I also found out about MUFA's & PUFA's.  These are mono & polyunsaturated fats (good fats) that somewhat block fat, if I understand correctly.  They're things like: plain nuts like almonds, peanuts, Brazil nuts, avacados, olives (black, green & extra virgin oil) & dark chocolate.  I eat a handful of natural unsalted almonds everyday (about 15 or so) & the others when I can.

All of this together is working for me.  Oh yeah, I also drink about 6 bottles of water a day flavored.  You can get them at Wal-mart by the juices in boxes of 8.  Put 1 pack in water & it really helps me drink water more.  I LOVE IT>  Sorry so long, but trying to think out loud to see if any of this sounds OK or not.  Good luck to everyone.

Hello,

My names Darren and I'm 35, married with two children.just under a year ago i weighed in at 18st.8lbs just over 252 pounds!!.

And currently at this point in time weigh in at 15stone (210) total loss of 42 pounds.

My goal weight is 148lbs by June 2010.

The reason I'm here, is to find people as committed to a healthy lifestyle change like me, and who wants real result maybe not straight away but make it a life changing goal!

with all the different weight loss goals people have, and the many ways of trying to lose weight, by getting together we can all help each other and make a impact.

If you've ever felt down about your weight, your never on your own we've all been there, had weeks with NO loss"been There too".

Pulling together is key to reaching our sometimes life changing/life saving Goals.

add my as your friend if you like and lets kick some butt!!

I enjoy all types of sport and always listening to music on my ipod.

Greetings all, I am here to make the changes that will allow me to live and continue to live... I am a big human. For most of my life since highschool, I have been a big FAST human who loved and survived games and life where you got to smash into things and live like a caveman.

All of that did me really well... Then of course I got out of the Army (Infantry), gained weight, got injured (knees), gained weight, got married, got a sedentary job (trucking) gained more weight, had a good sized family, watched them grow, worked like a trojan to provide for them, gained weight lost a lot of mobility, lost a son in Iraq, got depressed (still am) gained even more weight.

I find myself in a place that I do not want to be anymore and ever again. I am 47 almost 100 pounds overweight, diagnosed with type2 diabetes, generally crummy physically and mentally. I tried the Atkins before and lost 60 pounds.. then got tired of feeling like a freak and got off of that.. For the first time I am trying to count calories..

I am looking at a goal weight of 220. I feel great at 230 but even that is nothing that will male the doctors happy.

Hello fellas,

I'm about to turn 30 in a few months and I'm beginning to notice that my clothes just aren't as loose as they used to be. Every time I recieve a tagged photo of myself on facebook I cringe a little. A few days ago, I bit the bullet and hopped on the scale. 180 lbs on a 5 ft 4 in frame. Not so hot. I was looking for something similar to the Weight Watchers site and found this site. I've been on it for 2.5 days now and am very impressed. My goal is to get back to my college weight of 150 by August.

I'm also the frontman in a band, and the idea of being seen on stage is becoming less and less appealing.

I tried the similar Weight Watchers site a few years ago and it worked for a little while. I think my biggest problem is that I give up after seeing just the slightest bit of progress, instead of going for my goal.

I'm hoping this site will help me, and the fact that it is free is very appealing to me.

Good luck guys!

Hi everyone!

I am new to CC today. I have been sitting at 210lbs for a year and a bit. I had gotten up to 225, was under a lot of stress and started to drop some weight. I hit the gym and the road but seem to be stuck at 210. I thought I'd give this a whirl since it looks like a great spot to keep tabs on what and how much I eat in a visual and statistical kind of way - I can relate to that.

I have counted calories and grams of food group in the past but since I have two little girls my wife had asked me to not keep tabs on this stuff over that last few year so we wouldn't make the girls conscious of what they eat. In the past - at college and before marriage/kids I ran competitively.

I am looking forward to seeing what I can do here with all your help!

Cheers!

Hello all,

I am quite new to CC (almost 4 weeks) and find it an amazing tool!

I live in the Golfe and my work is an office work which does not help in terms of physical activity. I started putting on weight the day i moved to the Golfe (5 years ago) - 10/15kg (22/33lbs).

I have never been skinny, but whenever i felt I needed to lose some weight,I used to practice outdoor sports such as climbing, caving, biking etc... I really dislike indoor sports. This is very difficult for me now, due to the very high temperature in the Golfe and to the type of work I do (sedentary, office mainly with lots of travelling, difficult to have a routine of exercise).

I have decided some time back to lose my over weight and assessed that I needed to lose 17.4 kgs (almost 40lbs). I am 5'9" (177cm) and when I started using CC, I was 87.4 kg (193 lbs), today I am 82.4 (182lbs). Male and single.

I am very determined and although I allow myself to eat everything, i have diminished the quantities and am trying to keep my calories below 1200 per day.

I have joined this group hoping to meet people with similar goals, comparing results and sharing experience in order to avoid the usual pitfalls of weight loss.
