And now just go ahead and make that first post!
Hello all. I joined calorie count in I guess it was late February or early March 2008. I have been on a steady progressive diet and decided that I should live the 2nd half of my life in a little bit better shape than the first half.... yeah.. I'm smack dab in the middle of a mid-life crisis more or less.
So... now I am jogging everynight and eating right and 7 months later I have lost about 40 lbs. I want to drop 10 more pounds and then begin a weight training program and try and rebuild some muscle tone and strength. I'm not trying out for Mr. Olympia by any means... I just want to get in decent shape and firm up a little so that I don't have health issues down the road and I want to feel better about myself and my health.
Anyways... feel free to message me if you like. I need a friend or two on here to talk to. See ya.... Steve
Hello everyone,
I joined Calorie Count some time ago, but really started to use it the first of June. To date I have lost 22.5 lbs! I decided to begin weight loss when I started to train for the 2-day breast cancer walk. This will be my 3rd 2-day walk and I could tell I had really gained weight since my last walk..so I began the journey to improve my health and support breast cancer.
My husband had bariatric surgery over a year ago and he has sucessfully lost 125 lbs and together we are trying to improve our eating and exercise habits. So..wish us luck!
Sheila
Greetings
I joined Calorie Count in March 2008. I have lost 100 lbs since March 27 2008. I know you are saying, how did you do that. I cheated, in a way, I had Lap-band Surgery. Now that said, Lap-band Surgery is a tool that can help you loses the weight. I went on a 1200 calorie diet. I am a diabetic with other medical conditions. I am 61 yrs old and I been on a yo-yo diet all my life and it is very stressful. I would loses weight and than gain it back plus more.
The changes in my life style has change drastically. I use Calorie Count to log an select my daily food intake. It tells me how many calories I need to exist on my daily activities. I need 2700 calories per day and with 1200 calorie diet, my body needs to go and get 1500 calories that is stored fat in my body and that is why I am losing the weight
When I weighed 343 pounds, I would not look in the mirror, I looked disgusting but now, when I look into the mirror, I see a different person and sometime I have to take a second look. I now weigh 243 pound and my goal is 200 pounds.
Thank You Calorie Count
Robert
Robert, that is great news! Even with LapBand or gastric bypass (like my husband) losing weight is still very challenging and you have to have the right mindset. Sounds like you are doing a wonderful job, good luck reaching your goal! I still have 60 pounds to go before I reach my goal but I'm working on it every day!!
Thank You Smullins. You are right about the mindset. Now I have another problem, none of my cloths fit, but that is a good problem. My two daughters have a lot cloths to buy me for Christmas, Ha Ha.
Thanks again for your comments
Robert
HI!
My name is Kelly. I have a wonderful husband and beautiful 14 month old daughter.
I joined because I would like to be able to relate to people who are also trying to lose weight. I've lost 17 pounds thus far. I'm at 143. I would like to be at 120. I haven't really been eating the way I should be for about 4 weeks now. Hoping to get back into the groove...
1. Well the highest weight I've ever been was in the 160s I prefer to be 140-145.
2. I joined CC last year around December because I had to get my butt back in shape and fit into a bridesmaid dress I was around 150 something, got down to 140 by the end of Feb(left CC) got into my dress(I looked awesome) early Apr for the wedding. Was out of a job for 2 months got back up to 151ish, Rejoined CC about a month ago, currently 145ish, would like to weigh 140 to give myself a 5 lb cushion the last 5 lbs are the hardest I'm a witness.
3. I'm 26
4. I'm a help desk analyst so I sit in front of the PC 8 hours a day, single, no children except my chihuahua.
I ran my first 10K on Labor day
Hi Kelly and Everyone,
I have tried everything to loose weight. I had my stomach stapled in 2002. I went from 270 to 175, but have gained about a pound a month for the last 3 years... hence a gain of about 40 lbs. I mean, geeze who notices 1 pound a month, until its 3 years worth. So here I am back on the dark side, 227.
I'm excited to see that you all are doing well. I signed up back in March, but didn't do anything. Hoping to get connected and do something good here for myself.
:) Nice to meet you all.
Carita
Hello everyone! My name is Twila.
I never had an issue with weight until I entered college and ate out for two meals a day every day of the week. (I guess I just never appreciated mum's cooking!) I entered college at 145 pounds, my lowest weight ever, and I entered my senior year at nearly 170!
That's when I joined Calorie Count. Well, to be honest, I joined it before, but I didn't really have the motivation and quit after a few weeks. Now, however, with graduation fast approaching, I don't want to be one of those people who graduates with a ton of extra weight. (Plus I hope to get engaged soon and I don't want to have to worry about weight then!)
I joined this group because one thing that keeps me motivated is talking to other people and seeing how well calorie counting actually works. =) It makes me not want to give up on my measly goal of 20-25 pounds of weight loss when I see people lose 100!
I'm a Professional Communications major who loves to travel (so far I've only been to Italy, but now that I have my passport, I'm dying to get a few more stamps soon!) I currently live with my wonderful boyfriend of three years and I'm hoping he'll propose soon. I like to cook, write, read, and draw (all of which I'm fairly good at). And as of this morning, I've officially lost over 10 pounds. Yay! =)
Hello everyone! I'm so glad to see so many ATL people here! For the longest time I thought I was the only one.
I've been a member of CC since about 2006 or so. I've never had a problem with my weight; rather, I joined because my eating habits were atrocious and I realized that I needed to focus on a healthy lifestyle. CC really helped me analyze what foods are nutritious and which aren't. Now I eat a healthy diet of whole foods and very little meats, and I run every day. Since I realized that I needed to be healthy for the rest of my life, I did end up losing about 20 pounds, but I went from about 137 to 117 or so. Basically I went from the upper healthy BMI to the lower end of a healthy BMI.
These days I use the forums here to talk about fitness. I run 6 days a week and compete in races (although I never win, heh). In March I ran the ING half marathon, and I do various 5 and 10Ks all over the city. I run the Sprint for Cancer 10K at Atlantic Station every year, and I also run the 5K at the East Atlanta Strut because that's my neighborhood.
I live near Grant Park with my husband and 3 cats. My husband is from Scotland so we travel there every year, and also to various other parts of Europe and the US. I know a ton of stuff about nutrition and also about running. I mean, a LOT. If anyone has any questions about any of that stuff I'm more than willing to dish out advice and support!
Hey Jenka, I have a question. For the past several years I have done either the 3-day or the 2-day breast cancer walk. I do well with stretching before I walk, but I need a few pointers for during the walk and for cool down after the walk. We walk 3 times weekly if the weater permits and our distance is usually around 6-8 miles. I know we should stop and stretch but I'm not sure of a good plan. Maybe 5 minutes after each mile? Any pointers?!
Sheila
Hi, Sheila! There's no reason to stretch while you are walking. The best way to go about it is to walk for about 5 minutes as a warm up, and then stretch thoroughly. Stretching cold muscles doesn't really work, and if done improperly can actually harm your tendons. So after your warm up, stop and stretch. Then walk your full walk distance, and after you're done do a good 20 minutes of stretching. There are a ton of good stretching guidelines out there if you check, say, Runner's World or something (the principles are the same for running and walking). I'm a big fan of yoga, but if that's not possible then some more traditional stretches will work just as well.
Fantastic that you walk the breast cancer walks! I and every other woman out there thank you!
Hello to all![]()
I joined today after realizing I did not like what I saw when I looked in the mirror this morning. Back in 2004 I joined the gym with my sister-in-law for support during and after her weight lose surgery. As a result I too was blessed to lose 62 lbs through portion control and daily exercise. But in 2007 I experienced an abrupt change in my life and naturally the gym was the last thing on my mind. Although, I continuously tried to implement walking at least 30 minutes a day. Regrettably, I have gained back 25 lbs over the last 14 months and I DO NOT like how I look and most importantly how I feel.
I thought "no time like the present" so I did a search for tools and information that would help me to become a healthier me.
Making a change in Atlanta
hi all, i'm in northern gwinnett county and have been looking for some peers to come out and run with me! I've been wanting to join Liftime Fitness just for the fact that it will be a great way to meet new people with similar intrest. I have all the weight and cardio stuff at home, and top of the line stuff, and I'm also pursuing my degree in Fitness and Sports Medicine, and am getting my certification to be able to train people in a formal setting. I've had over 10 years of sports and athleticism related experience and would love to be able to share this passion to help others. I've had my own battles with weight that mostly came from post pregnacy, and depression issues. I am always able to spring back, through proper lifestyle healthy diet and getting great workouts in!
I've picked up running longer distances and I am looking for some people intrested in running the XTERRA Fall Fitness 5K with me in Buford next month! It's a trail race, which are my fave, because i love terrain! Anytakers! send me a message!
Hmm I might have to look into that 5K. I've run a 10K so 5 should be a peice of cake, guess I better start back training lol.
Side note, if anyone evr wants to go to Six Flags let me know I love going and it's fun and a decent workout for the day with all the walking.
College senior (22 years old) who put on a freshman 15, a sophmore 10, a junior 10, and senior 10. I'm looking to lose all that weight and drop back down to 180 or 190 lbs. I have not used calorie count before but I have seen similar technology. It appears to be a good way to pinpoint what is going on through the process. I joined this group cause I am looking for like minded people to keep me going. If I start losing weight now I will not have to buy new clothes because I got fat. I am student and I am interested in psychology.
Hello everyone :)
My name is Kelsey and I live in Decatur. When I was on a medication for a little while last year, I gained 35 pounds. I have since lost 27 on the LA Weight Loss program. Now my program time is ended and I am finally eating on my own again!! I want to lose five more pounds.
I joined calorie count because I was always using it to look up calorie content anyway. I'm excited about the group feature- this is great!
I live with my husband and two cats. I'm a seminary student. I like to run (although I'm not good at it) and visit the gym. I especially enjoy walking.
Hi everyone,
I love to eat! That is how I gained all of my weight. I eat to celebrate, I eat when I'm sad, I eat when I'm stressed and I eat when I watch T.V. I love all kinds of foods hambugers, hot dogs, shakes, fries, seafood, pizza, pasta and 100 calorie snacks.
I joined Calorie Count because it has the sam tools weight watchers online has, the only difference is this program is free.
I live in douglasville, ga. To all my new friends out there you can call me Tab.
Hello all,
Let's see I'm starting a yo-yo. I was fat. Then I finally got thin now I'm heading back the other way... : (
I've on and off here for years I have some friends here already but always looking for more!! I live on the East side of Atlanta and I'm a stay at home mom. I'd love to meet someone close to me to "hang" out with.
Hope all is going well with everyone and GOOD LUCK with all your journey's!!!!
