I'll be first!

1. History with weight loss: I was really skinny (a picky eater with some anxiety issues that made me sick to my stomach) up until high school.  I ate terribly throughout high school (we're talking entire boxes of mac n cheese, cans of spaghettios, frozen pizzas, big bowls of pasta, salami sandwiches...all at least twice a week) and was slightly overweight but I didn't really notice or care much.  After graduation I stopped drinking soda and started paying a bit of attention and dropped 10lbs, went to college and dropped a few more.  Sophomore year I wanted to lose some more so I decided to eat only 1200 cals/day, but probably ended up around 900 or fewer because I had to estimate due to dining hall food.  Second semester I moved off campus and ate like I had never seen food before...went home about 22lbs heavier and was devastated. My body image was worse than before...which was already pretty terrible.  I sporadically worked out in high school, but pretty much completely stopped once I reached college.

2. History with Calorie Count: I joined Calorie Count this past summer after coming home from college with a bit of extra baggage and have lost 15lbs since June.  I'm trying to get back to my lowest weight from last year of 115, but the healthy way.  I was pretty skinny then, but I felt most comfortable and it's well within a healthy weight range.

3. Reason for joining this group: A lot of my weight issues come about due to schedules and stresses of life as a college student, so this seems like the place to be! It also seems like a good place to communicate with people nearer my age and with whom I have a little more in common!

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I'm a junior biochemistry and molecular biology major at UMass Amherst, I have an internship to work in a pretty cool research lab and I get credits for it as it is an honors requirement, I plan to go to grad school for nutrition and I am looking into BU and Tufts, BU being my top choice. Also, I have a 30lb diabetic cat and I love him more than words can say!

1.History with weight loss: i was once anorexic but i started eating properaly again two years ago when i met my boyfriend, ive been steadly putting on wieght and now i want to shed a few exess pounds

2.History with Calorie Count: joined this week and love it
3.Reason for joining this group: its good to talk to people who understand what its like to diet.

 4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: i am a fashion student ive been with my current boyfriend for two years !!! and i work at mcdonalds part time which makes dieting hard as hell.

1. History with Weight Loss:  Well when I was younger I was really really overweight, (over 200 lbs in 6th grade).  I struggled with anorexia in 7th and 8th grade, going down to 140 in about 3 months.  I moved to a new state and gained some back in High School, graduating around 160.  Freshman and Sophmore years of College I ping ponged between 180 and 160. Junior year I some how let it go a little and now I gained most of it back, as of the first of the year.

2. History with CC: Started Jan 26, weighing 209 (VOMIT!!).  I had gone to the Doctors not too long before and was completely shocked with my weight.  Since joining, I have already lost 15 lbs.  I know alot of this was shed quickly and it will get harder from here on out.

3. Reason for Joining:  1) Because of my weight issues I know I am going to need help with "my change of lifestyle"; 2) I love supporting others; 3) Because College Students really do need to Unite...

4. About Me: The above "poster" is my BFF! I am a senior in Civil Engineering.  I am attending The University of Tennessee.  I have a pet turtle, PEPSI.  I have no clue what I want to do after I graduate. ;P

1. I also used to be very overweight in gradeschool. In 6th grade i weighted 230lbs and it was the worst period in my life, overeating, no friends, depresseed, locked myself at home everyday after school. And to top it off I was beaing bullied by chool peers and my mom's friends. I decided it was enough and in three years dropped down to 190lbs. Freshman year of high school I became more confident and made a ton of friends, dropped 10lbs; sophmore year dropped another 10lbs, and Junior year became ana/bia and dropped to 135lbs, my lowest weight. Then I got my first boyfriend and got really confortable around him and gained most of it back.

So now I'm 159lbs and I want to get to 140, and hopefully down to 135lbs.

2.I just joined CC about three days ago and about two weeks ago have been training my body to eat healthy so now I don't go over my suggested calorie intake.

3. I have dealt with terrible ups and downs with my weight that I just want to be a good size and maintain it for a very very very very long time. And in college they say how easy it is to gain the freshman fifteen and I am not up for it at all.

4. I am a freshman at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design majoring in Industrial Design. I was a photography major but decided that I sould become more handy especially because the level of competition that photography now has. I have a boyfriend that I've been with fr 2 years and he i amazing and would love to look better for me and for him Laughing

I totally understand where you're coming from! I've dealt with weight issues my entire life. Stick with it you'll get back there in no time!

1. I overate as a kid, had a couple eating disorders in high school, and then got to college. I was pretty okay up til Christmas break, mostly because there was no way for me to binge with my nonexistant income. Then I went home and pretty much existed on fudge and candy. I went back to college with major cravings and have been binging regularly since.

I'm 165 pounds right now, and want to get back down to 130.

2.I just joined.

3. I love how everyone's so supportive of each other, I definitely want to be part of it.

4. I am a Psych major at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. I'm a freshman and I absolutely love it here. I have been a vegetarian for five years and my new year's resolution was to be vegan. Peet's coffee is my favorite place on earth because I have a MAJOR sweet tooth, and they have vegan cookies =D I am ridiculously friendly and I love people, so if you wanna talk I'm totally down. Good luck everyone!

1. My weight fluctuated a lot in my younger years, so I would be pudgy for a couple years then super skinny for the next few. I was pretty small when I got to college but late in my frosh year I lost my best friend and turned to food. I'm now a sernior and have gained 50 pounds since then.

Am currently 185. I graduate in December and want to get down to a a size 7.

2. I joined a few months back but haven't really been sticking with it.

3. As most of us know, losing weight in college in be a little different than losing it in the "real world". I wanted to be able to talk to people who understand the constraints etc.

4. I'm a History Major at a small school in Virginia. I work 2 part time jobs and go to school full time. I'm an almost fluent Spanish Speaker and hope to move back to spain one day soon. Really random fact... I have CRAZY and really vivid dreams :-)

History with weight loss: Hey! I'm 19 and 5'1 and I've always played a lot of club soccer, but I've always been slightly overweight it seems (probably like 10-15 pounds over) until sophomore year of high school when I dropped to 111 and was a size 3.  I still thought I was overweight, but now I realize I just wasn't meant to have a superslim body, I will always have a tummy.  I gained a lot of weight from the end of junior year to now (3/4 through my Freshman year at college) and now I weigh around 140.

History with Calorie Count: Just joined this week. LOVE IT!

Reason for joining this group: I want to get healthier and feel good about how I look. Okay, I also want to look really good for my trip with my friends to Puerto Rico this Summer! I'd love to drop about 25 pounds but by eating healthy and excercising.

Some interesting details: I waitress and I am going to work at the school bookstore for "buy-back" week and get my lifeguarding certification this summer. I am currently obsessed with Paolo Coelho, Isabel Allende, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and Pablo Neruda

1. When I used to be skinny until i reached 6th grade, I gained a ton of weight in a short amount of time. When I reached 9th grade I went to the doctor and found out I was 179 and decided then that it was time for me to lose weight. I lose 20lbs in 6 months, then I lost more weight during first semester of freshmen year, got down to 149, and have been steadily gaining it back since then. I want to take control of my weight. I'm 19 and a sophomore in college now and I'm just ready to be healthier, I'm not that concerned with losing weight because even though I'm around 180 now, I still wear the same size I did when I was 149.

2. I've been with calorie count for a while, I just prefer to use sparkpeople, but I decided I've give it a try again.

3. I wanted to get healthier, and see what ideas other busy college students have when it comes to healthy eating.

4. I'm majoring in business management and communications: writing. I really, really want to be a writer but I'll settle for an editor because I'm also really enjoying that. I work at my school's writing center and I play a musical instrument.

1. I was always a pretty skinny kid, had some anxiety issues in high school that forced me to eat next to nothing and lose a lot of weight, even though I didn't need to. My senior year I gained all of that weight back plus a little extra. Lately I've found that my "fat jeans" have become my skinny jeans. At my tiniest I was 85 lbs (I'm 5' 1"), but since then I've gained nearly 40 pounds. Wouldn't mind shedding a few, back to where I was earlier in my high school days, where I know my body was meant to be.

2. Just joined this week, and loving it! I've learned so much from the people here already. Just today I put on a pair of slacks that were much too tight a few weeks ago, and I saw that they were not nearly as tight as before.

3. I'd like to communicate with people closer to my age.

4. I'm a junior theatre management major at a small college in Missouri.

1. History with weight loss: I have never been more than a few pounds "overweight" technically but have always struggled with wanting to be skinny. I was borderline ana/mia for a bit my senior year of high school and dropped down from 160 to my lowest weight of 130 in about a month and a half. It wasn't an unhealthy weight for my height  (5' 7") but I lost it by not eating anything at all for days on end, and purging what I did eat. Since then its been very hard for me to try losing weight healthily because I don't see the results nearly as quickly and give up early on. This time I want to be healthy and lose around 21.5 pounds to be 128. I've already gone from 164 to 149.5 over the past few weeks.

2. History with Calorie Count: I just discovered this site a couple of days ago and love it!

3. Reason for joining this group: I'm in college right now and trying to lose weight when surrounded by naturally skinny girls and lots of fattening food can be very lonely and exahusting. I want to make sure that I stay healthy this time and thought this would hold me accountable! Anyone identify and want to be my weightloss buddy?

4. Some interesting details about yourself:
I'm currently a rising junior in a small southern school, majoring in Fine Arts with a concentration in Painting, Drawing and Photography.

1. History with weight loss: I have a love hate relationship with food. I have been struggling with an eating disorder since I was 12 (i'm 20 now). Currently, I just relapsed and I'm trying to lose weight in a "healthier" way. Of curse I understand, given my history- I should not be attempting weight lose. I have never been overweight- I rarely have been in the normal BMI range. Currently I am 118lbs and am 5'8. I would like to be 115.
2. History with Calorie Count:
For a while, I simply used this site to look up calorie amounts in foods- but then I decided to start an account- and as of May 4th, I was (am) a newbie.
3. Reason for joining this group: My relapse started when I was a freshman in college, so just being able to relate with other college students is a great idea.
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I have 7 cats (that's right haha) and a mommy and a daddy- as well as an older sister (21) and two younger brothers (18 and 14). My one brother is actually... a sister- she/he is transgender and is currently undergoing transition. Anyway, I am going to school for a BFA in Applied Media Arts with a concentration in Graphic Design. My passion is photography, however- and you can find a link to my artwork in my profile :-) if anyone is interested.

Hi! I'm Celeste, 21 and an undergrad student at Grossmont and Cuyamaca Community Colleges in California.

1. History with weight loss: Throughout my childhood, I was always considered - and always considered myself - chunkier than most of my friends. I was teased in middle school and by highschool had a pretty bad image of myself. In highschool, I moved from a town I'd lived in for 8 years and the new highschool I went to was loose about their gym classes and actually sold Pizza Hut for lunch, so I started eating less healthy. About 5 years ago, my brother got into an accident and my mom moved from Montana (where I've lived forever) to Cali (better doctors here...), and I tried to stay in Montana. It only lasted a year... I went on a Slim*Fast diet, exercised every day for 2 hours and cut myself because I was depressed and took it out on my image. Now, 4 years after moving and then 2 weeks ago after finding CC, at 140 lbs, my goal weight is 5-10 pounds away and I am beginning (thanks to CC!) to see improvement in my moods and life!

2. History with Calorie Count: I joined CC about 2 weeks ago just for the sake of logging the progress of this horrible acne I suffer from. It started 1 year ago after an EXTREMELY stressful semester and now my face is all scarred up due to it!!! I'm involved with an internal cleanse that I'm hoping will help me. CC also helps me because the cleanse encourages me to be vegan for the month and I must make sure I'm getting balanced nutrition as well as enough calories. I've lost 5 lbs in the past 2 weeks, but I think it's mainly because of the loss of meat and dairy products from my diet. However, I feel awesome! My acne is still apparent, but I'm crossing my fingers!

3. Reason for joining this group: I would like to be a part of a community much like myself! I want to feel as if I'm not the only health conscious college student on a campus full of fast-food loving people :) I want to have and be a support from those my age and like, plus I love reading people's stories... it's inspirational.

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:

I work at PETCO as a dog bather/brusher (basically do everything but hair cuts!) and I do love my job but hope, in the near future, to work with wild exotics rather than domestic animals. I have 3 birds: A cockatiel named Chiffon and 2 parakeets named Louie and Belle. I JUST got accepted to volunteer at the Natural History Museum in downtown San Diego and I'm SO! excited about it! I hope to do a lot of volunteering this summer to improve my resumé.

I'm studying to be a Conservation Biologist for threatened wild animal species and hope to graduate in about 5 years. My idol is/was Steve Irwin (however, I resent Bindi Irwin's show). I have many goals in life and I just hope that I can gain the confidence to confront and acheive them!

1. History with weight loss: I'm generally pretty good at losing weight once I set my mind to it. Since puberty I had been a little overweight, and plagued by self-esteem issues when it came to my body. The summer before junior year of high school I cut carbs and dropped 20 pounds. During the year I exercised and though I only dropped three more pounds I looked ten pounds lighter. I went to college my senior year of high school and due to stress and loneliness I put on fifteen pounds. I tried counting calories during the Spring Semester but my heart wasn't in it. My sophomore year of college I dropped 10 pounds by counting calories and exercising and felt great. Then I transferred to a new, much bigger school and moved into an apartment away from my family. Consequently I gained 30 pounds by eating horribly and not exercising at all. Now I want to not only lose that, but lose more than I ever have before by counting calories and exercising. For once I do not want to put a schedule on it (i.e., "I'm going to lose twenty pounds by Christmas") and just go with it. My mom has been "going with it" for the past year and she's dropped fifty pounds. Really what it comes down to for me when it comes to weight loss is not so much the dietary concerns, though counting calories helps, but the exercise. Regular exercise melts the pounds off. But I'm horrible at motivating myself to exercise!

2. History with Calorie Count: I have been utilizing calorie count since I started counting calories two years ago, but didn't join until last spring. And now I'm back in action because I want to lose again.

3. Reason for joining this group: I know there are people out there who are students and have experienced the same weight gain as me, and I want to offer my support as best I can. I think it is important to understand that when you are in school you are completely bombarded with every kind of stress there is, and gaining weight is pretty much a natural response. But by pushing yourself and making certain sacrifices (like lightening your course load, not going out to party or the bars all the time) can be made to ensure weight loss. But you have to be willing to do that, and most importantly, you have to be strong and confident enough in yourself to believe you can.

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I will be a senior at Binghamton University this fall, majoring in English and Cinema. I currently have no job other than to be a full-time student. I have a relatively large (6 people) family and we all have weight and self-esteem issues. I am very interested in pop culture, movies, books, TV shows, and cooking. I like exercise which is why it's insane that I do not do it more often. And I love love love clothes and playing around with different styles, which is not easy to do when one is overweight.

Hey Celeste. Have you seen a dermatologist about your acne? I'm genetically prone to having clogged pores and greasy skin, and I used to have horrible problems with acne from the fifth grade to the beginning of high school and nothing worked. I tried everything from pro active to rubbing nail polish remover onto my face (that was a little desperate...). I got put on a pill, a generic version of Acutane, when I was fourteen and it cleared everything up. Now I only get very mild acne if I don't wash my face after wearing makeup or wash my body after working up a sweat.

It may not necessarily be the right choice for you, since there are a lot of factors considered before being put on the medication, but it worked like a charm for me and my self-esteem sky rocketed. I still have some scarring, but I think I prevented some major scarring by getting onto the pills relatively early into my teens.

Hi Y'all!

1. History with weight loss: Recovered bulimic
2. History with Calorie Count: Just joined yesterday!
3. Reason for joining this group: Interested in having and offering support with like-minded people withing the age range.
4. Some interesting details about yourself: I'm 21, I work doing collections and general administration full time while pursuing my degree in Psychology part time, I'm an animal lover! in a great relationship and... that's it =).

Hi everyone!

1) History with weight loss:  I pretty spent most of my time growing up being the chubby one out of all my friends and finally really started to lose weight after getting to college 2 years ago.  Since then, I've gone from 156 to 128 pounds and am now finally happy with where I am!

2)History with CC:  I joined about a year ago but didn't really become serious about losing the last bit of weight until May.

3)Reason for joining this group:  I guess since it's all college students, everyone here is sharing a lot of the same challenges and really understands what everyone's going through.

4)Some interesting details:  I'm 20 years old and I'm a junior studying Russian.  After studying abroad last semester, this semester has kinda become my time for totally changing around my life if that makes sense.  I changed my major, transferred schools, kinda got involved in a lot of new things (like Salsa and some service groups), changed up a lot of my friends and tons of other things, but am having a lot of fun while I'm at it :)

History of weight loss:  I used to be in judo pretty competitively for most of my life, always had to cut wait for tournaments so was always pretty skinny but in a healthy, athletic way.  I want to college, stopped doing judo so much but kept my wait ok.  I took a year off school and moved to whistler and picked up some really bad eating habits and totally quit judo.  Because I was skiing all the time it wasn't too bad, but when I came back to Ontario to finish school I gained about 20 pounds!

History with Calorie Count:  Joined about an hour ago.

Reason for joining:  I would really like to get back down to 125 before I graduate in April.

Some Interesting Details about myself: I'm a bartender, working on an outdoor recreation and leisure degree (which makes it a bit more embarrassing to be over weight).   My dad has type 2 diabetes, and my sister and mom are over weight too. Scares me a bit to know I'm on a downward spiral and need to get out before it turns into a lifestyle.
