Hi!  I am 47 years old female and have no thyriod since I received RAI two years ago for Hyperthyroidism.  I have since had challenges with my weight.  It is hard to lose weight.  I have found that limiting sugar is the only way for me to lose along with really reduced calories.  I already did daily workouts since the age of 37.  At 37 years old, I lost 70lbs., weighing 160 lbs. all muscle,  (size 8) following having two babies.  I gain 20 lbs when I took Paxil to get through a divorce.  The doctor forgot to tell me that weight gain was a side effect.

Now I have gained weight since my thyroid treatment and now weigh 195 lbs.  Prior to my treatment, I weighed 183 lbs.  I have reduced my weight every year but it seems to go back to 195 after I start eating normal healthy food.   I guess it is mostly depressing.  I really only eat because I am starving.  I hate grocery shopping and eating all together.  So, what is the problem.

I have two teenage daughters, age 14 & 17, a new husband and
**** dog named Ziggy.

Any weight loss to me is progress!

Hello, I'm Dionne, a 28 year old 8th grade Math/Science teacher, and I am a proud mama of a 4 year old son and 2 year old daughter.  I joined cc some months ago, but I haven't logged since early July...I kind of got lazy when the new school year started back Frown.  I am starting the South Beach diet, officially tomorrow, and I hope I have the will power to remain on it and bask in the benefits.  I have heard great things about it from others, and being that I am hypothyroid, I don't need a diet, I need something that is going to change my eating habits for good, and I've heard that South Beach can help you do that.  I have too had the yo-yo effect when it comes to my weight.  Currently, I weigh 165, and my goal is 135.  I have been there before, and I know I can get there again!  It's great that I have a place to get the support I need.

I too had the dreadful RAI treatment for hyperthyroidism.  I had the treatment about 7 years ago, and I have struggled so much with my weight, depression, life in general, and I hope to overcome this thyroid curse once and for all.  I have heard about doctors whom specialize in bio-identical hormone therapy, but unfortunately, they are not affordable for me at this time.  Since being hypothyroid, my personal and professional life has gone down hill.  I am to the point now that I do not even know the person that I have become.  This website is a god send being that I can contact people going through the same struggles as me.  Anyone feel free to contact me, good luck, and wish me luck too!!!Cool

Hey,

I imagine hypothyroidism is tough to overcome when you're trying to lose weight -- but I know you can do it!  I lost 40 pounds and quit smoking and dealt with a lot of depression over losing a job.  But things have really turned around for me and it will for you too-- I would love to chat more, share weight loss and work out ideas and even have a work out partner if you are close to arlington-- let me know.

If you're not looking for help but warm fuzzies, then good luck!

Actually, I'm in the SW Fort Worth area, and I work in east fw close to arlington.  Having a workout partner would be great...it keeps you going even when you try and get lazy!..lol.  What type of workouts do you do?  I notice that your on a bike in your pic.  I've done cycling in the past at they gym, and I love it, but it's been years since I've been on a real bike.  You've had great success, I would love to chat more!  thanks for the words of encouragement!

Hey folks,

My weight has bounced around the past several years.  At the worst - 210 while pregnant.  At my best I've been 145 which is still not low enough.  My goal is to be 130, and I'm currently at 157.
When I reached 145, I was working out like a mad-woman and counting my calories on here.   I love the tools on here.
I joined because I need a little encouragment.  Those who I talk to are not interested in losing weight; my coworkers (all women my age) are overweight and insist of having a basket filled with candy available all the time.  I need people with a different mindset.
I currently work for a bank that's still relatively new and business is slow.  Hence, boredom eating.  My family is scatterd around the metroplex, west Texas, and the Hill Country.  I am taking classes for my bachelor's degree which I hope to have in a few more years.  Late start, but at least I know what I want to do.
So there ya go.

Hey everyone!

I have always struggled with my weight/ depression. At one point about 3 years ago, I hit 209 lbs. From there, I made up my mind to lose weight and get in shape. I had been on all sorts of anti depressants but chose to quit them cold turkey and focus and exercise. Within the year, I dropped down to 155 lbs. Only thing is.. I can't seem to get any lower than that.

I recently got married and have found it difficult to stay in shape while husband (Mr. Perfect Metabolism) never thinks about eating healthy or working out. I am realizing that this is something I will need to deal with for the rest of my life, so I'm trying to face the facts and lose the weight.

I'm brand new to Calorie Count, but I'm really excited to have found a group of people who all share the same desire to be healthy.

I am currently living in Arlington and am a full-time student at UTA where I am a studio art- painting major. I have a cat that fetches, I'm hypoglycemic, and I love to run.

Okay, now I've introduced myself. Feel free to write to me if you wanna talk!

Hey Everyone! My name is Tuesdee! (sounds kind of Texan huh!) I am a student at UNT in Denton. I am going to be a teacher! I am 20 years old and only about 5 foot 2. I weigh about 170.  I have been doing bootcamp style workouts for the last 3 months. I have not lost actual weight, but feel more toned and tighter. The last week, I got really serious about eating well and I lost 6 pounds in one week. (combined with bootcamp 3 days a week and running a mile twice a week) I am getting married on March 20, 2010 and plan to weigh 120 lbs by that time! I know is is a huge goal but I am extremely dedicated. I come from a very overweight family and do not want to end up like that. My mother got gastricbypass a few years ago and I never want to put myself or my family through that. Good luck to everyone here!

I had a question for those who have been following cc for a while....my daily caloric intake that they have for me is 1900 calories; however, a lot of times, I don't get that.  For example, I only got 1000 today, and I'm trying to follow the South Beach Diet.  Do you find more success with getting the amount of calories that cc calculates for you, and if so, how can i get those extra calories without murdering my diet?  If I just stick to veggies, I would literally have to stuff myself full of them for those extra calories...I don't think that's possible!  lol...I followed the diet to the T, but maybe I didn't eat a good enough servings....Undecided

Do the 1900 calories really matter?  Have you found better success with the calories assigned by cc, or will I do good with the 1000?  Thanks!

A woman should not eat any LESS than 1200 calories a day. I would not suggest just sticking to veggies your body needs fiber, protien, vitamin c and carbs... If I may, I suggest that you eat at least 4 oz of lean protien at dinner (grilled chicken, tillapia, salmon, turkey), also add 1/3 cup of whole grain rice ( use uncle ben's ready rice), and then heap on all the delicous steamed veggies you desire. Also add some good fruits to your meals, strawberries and apples are the best! The best way to cut out the unnessary carbs is to just stick to water, sure you can have your daily cup of coffee, and don't forget  an 8oz a glass of skim milk. Remeber to make sure to take vitamins and calcium supplements!!! If cc is suggesting 1900 cals a day and you don't want to eat that much than shave it down by 200 or so cals, but remember to adjust that number as you start to lose weight to ensure that you are still burning more that your eating. ABOVE ALL ELSE NO LESS THAN 1200 CALS!!!

Welcome, fellow Texan!   Best of luck to you!  Starting at your young age with good habits of eating and exercise is great - keep it up - it's worth it!  I know you will reach your goal.

Nice to see all these fellow Texans here on CC!  Best of luck to you all.  I think we have a problem here in our county (Wise) that may be the worst of anywhere I've ever seen!   My husband and I seem to be the "odd couple" - proper weight and regulars at the gym,  active and look and feel better than the MUCH younger people we work with.   It amazes and disturbs me to see so many young people on a road to distruction with their weight.  I guess it's my personality type to want to see everyone healthy and happy.  We encourage our co-workers but it falls on deaf ears....too bad.

That's the best thing about CC - support and encouragement!   Hugs to all my fellow Texans!

Hey ya'll.. (what southern way to say it) My name is Joy and I'm just plan out fat. I have come to terms with this. I am a Transplant to Texas, moved here 4 years ago to get married to a native born Texan. I am from the frozen tundra of the North (Michigan) and I do miss it.  I am 28 years old, I have a husband of 2 years and an 11 month old daughter (bless her little heart).  I have battled with wieght ever since I can remember. I went to college in 1999 and tiped the scales at 389. I did alot of walking and lost alot of that weight. I am currently 246 pounds and started having problems losing the weight. I told my husband I want to have another baby because i lost 25 pounds having her. That was the easiest weight I lost, and I was smart about my pregnancy, not eating for two people. But atlas, I am back to work at my computer/desk job at the hospital in Plano and not very active at work.

I go home and play with my daughter till she goes to bed and then i do the most nerdy geeky thing possible, I play WoW with my husband. I know, i spend too much time on the computer. I have decided that for the sake of my daughter, wanting to be able to play with her as she grows up and to keep up with her when she tries to run away from me (not yet.. she is just learning to walk) then I need to get my fat butt off the chair and get some of this fat off me. I think if I lose this wieght (about 121 pounds) I will have lost one person.. at least of weight.

I love reading, and writing and playing geeky games (cause they are fun) and I love my daughter (duh, right?) I enjoy the colder weather, when we have it and do not like the spiders ya'll have down here. I have had my first scare with a black widow! Eek! Oh well, its dead now.  Anyways, I saw this on google and decided that maybe this is what I need to help me lose this fat and to be healthy. I have started walking more at home and was given a tredmill to use.. so yeah. I can walk now.. just need to do it more often. I Have never been on CC before and just joined today. I saw this group and was like.. Kewl.. maybe I can find someone that I can actually meet and help encourage and vice versa.

I hope you all get to losing that weight that you want and that you get to be that skinner thinner you! yeah! Congrats on the weight you have lost so far, you are doing a great job! *does happy cheer for you*

Alright, I should go.. feel free to talk.. i dont' bite, though i can't say the same about my daughter ( and her 6 teeth).

Joy

Hello All!

I have been struggling with my weight since I graduated college.  I'm now 27 and 204 pounds--- I am a member at 24 Hr. fitness (any one) and am located near downtown Dallas or Cedar Hill.  if anyone wants to go together to help with motivation.  I did go today, but got really tired after 14 mins.  of climbing stairs and came home.  My first goal-- get below 200!  Just signed up with calorie count and think it will help.  I also used to do weight watchers and will probably pull that back out again for guidelines.  If anybody is looking for a pal to make this easier that would be great.  thanks

Hi!

Ok so i've always been a 'heavier' kid. No one really made fun of me for it, but I always hated myself for it. This is my 5th day of being with caloriecount and I've already lost 3 pounds!!!! I've been wanting to loose weight but never stay with anything. I always think i'm way too young to do actual diets and am self conscious to let anyone know that i'm trying to loose weight so being on this website is a simple secretive way for me to loose weight, and its healthy which is a bonus =].

My name is Trey.  Just moved to dallas.

I have never struggled with my weight or weight loss.  I have never really counted calories either.  I am natually thin and have always been active.  I was in the Navy for nine years and did manditory aerobic workouts at least three times a week and did light wieght training on my own five to six days a week.  I have always jogged and played basketball as well as other team sports.  I have never really dieted before but have always tried to take in as little sugar as possible.  It was not until the last year and a half when I got out of my structured military life that I started to gain weight.  I began working on the road and eating a steady diet of drive thru. I got up to about one eighty five one ninety; which isnt huge for me but it was all belly.  I decided I wasnt happy with myself when I saw a picture with my belly pushing my shirt out.  I started to work out regularly again but I wasnt dropping any weight. I knew I wasnt eating right so i decided to start eating better and cooking for myself as much as possible.  For the first time in my life I am on an actual diet. I have lost about twenty pounds but I am not at my goal.  I joined this sight when I came across it just to help me count calories and make sure I get enough because while trying to cut down sometimes I feel like I go too far.  Like I said new to the area so looking to make friends.  I like to play all sports, I dont like to run but I do, and I am looking to get into cycling or biking in general.

Hi, I'm Eric and I'm fat...but not for much longer.

I live in Richardson, just a short distance away from Plano and am a husband and father of two.

I have been fat most of my life.  I have dieted in the past and actually went down from 400 to 245 over a period of a year and a half back in 1999, but was injured on the job and simply became lazy.  Then I got married and had two girls who are very active and I need to lose the weight again.

Currently I am at 348 and my goal is to get to 220 and stay there.  Thankfully I have a very supportive wife and family who are ready to see me shed the pounds as well.

I joined this group simply because I find it helpful to know that other people are facing some of the same things I am here locally.  It is a help.  I also blog about how I am doing and you can find the blog here.

I look forward to interacting with this group.

Eric
