2. History with Calorie Count:
3. Reason for joining this group:
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:

And now just go ahead and make that first post!

Hello everyone. I'm Lisa. I joined CC last week. Here's my story: I used to be very petite and fit and I used to work out every day. But about six years ago I slipped into a bout of depression that lasted for a lonnnngg time. During which, my confidantes and best friends were Ben & Jerry and Little Debbie.

Good news is that I changed doctors a few years ago. She recognized what I had been trying to dismiss as stress, anxiety, and frequent ups and downs (more downs) and temporarily put me on an anti-depressant along with counseling. After about 3 months, she switched me to an herbal product. And over the past year I've been able to gain some perspective and re-evaluate.

Recently I decided that I MUST do something about my weight, which I'm very embarrassed to admit is waaaayyy out of control. I joined Bally's this month and started with a personal trainer 2x's a week. The first week really kicked my ass. I was so sore and could barely walk out of the gym. But I'm working out every day (except Sunday) and I can feel myself improving.

Calorie Counter seemed like the next logical step in this process. Some days are good... some days not-so-good. But I'm making strides. I'm doing this. And, "I'm gone do the damn thang!" :)

This group was recommended when I joined CC.

Anyone can feel free to drop me a line now and then. I'm always open to listen and offer support. I may need the same.

Ciao'

Lisa

Hi, I'm Stephanie. I have always been a tiny bit chubby. I'm 4'9 and very curvy, so it's hard to keep the weight down. I weigh 144, down from 152. (YAY) I gained most of this weight with pregnancy twice, plus bad eating habits. I joined CC to lose all this extra weight and for the great help counting calories and keeping track of stuff. So much easier to stay on track this way. I work in Dallas in a NOC as a technical admin and live in Lewisville. I love reading and movies, music. I don't get out too much. I suffer from PTSD, but that is much better since counseling. My goal weight is 102. I have never weighed that, so this should be interesting.

Hi, I'm James, I'm not one who fills out forum or writes about themselves. But, I'm 39 1/2 yrs old. I use to work in a mill-work shop, building cabinets and interior wood work for commercial contractors. Working in a warehouse and sweating all day kept me pretty fit. 8 yrs ago I lost three fingers on a table saw witch eventually put into a desk job. Now that I sit all day on the computer making shop drawing/blueprints. I somehow have started to became one of the fat guys. I am now the proud father of a 1yr old boy (Dale). He has changed my whole outlook on my health and life. I bought a treadmill and have started my fight against this weight problem. I'm 244 and want to get down to 200-180. this site says I should be 161 but we'll see. I have tried all the easy weight loss stuff but just got bigger. so I'm glad I found this site. I need the motivation and I have realize now that I have just been eating to many calories.

Good morning Dallas, my name is Amanda.  I am 33 years old and have three fun kids.  Their ages are each five years apart from each other so it's a little easier than if they were all little.  I work from my home in the baby and chilren's decor industry.  I hate cooking but now I am now taking it on as a challenge to create good tasting and good for me meals.  I have become very sensitive to what I eat, so I am trying to be very selective.  It's hard to make the changes though.  I hope joining will give me support and help me to take more action in getting in shape.  I have recently lost 17lbs, but now Im stuck.  I love to dance so I might join a dance class for the exercise. Mabey.

Hi James, my name is Amanda and I just joined the site as well.  It seems to be a great tool to help lose weight and get in shape.  I have three kids so I know it takes alot of your time.  I would much rather just hang out with my kids then get on the treadmill, but that is one reason I am not in shape.  After learning from my Dr. that I can walk or run for 10min increments, to total at least a half hour, that made a big difference.  Its nothing to take 10 minutes for myself where as a whole 30 minute session is sure to allow enough time for my three year old to destroy all the housework I had just done. (Yesterday she drew all over a mural I had just completed).  So good luck, and I hope this provides a little support in the weight lost journey.

I am Carisa my goal is at least 100 pound by the last week of March 2010. I am at a calorie count of 1500 a day. Reason for joining the group is it is local

Hi! My daughter is turning 18 in December and I will be free to travel. I want to lose two pounds a week until her birthday and earn myself a trip to Paris, and then travel every summer until I retire from teaching...which will occur when I just can't stand it anymore.

Why did I join? I picked up a sack of horse feed (40 pounds) and got the revelation that it was no wonder I was so tired, carrying around my own personal sack of feed 24/7. So it has to go!

Looking forward to help from you people...I hate to exercise, and I hate to cook. I eat on the run...to busy to diet. Am going to try the Dave Ramsey approach..."mmm. that cheesecake looks yummy. I wonder if I can AFFORD that?" Maybe I can lose the same way I got out of debt...but I know I can't do it alone. So glad for the website.

My name is Lupe Sandoval, happily married for 3 years, with 3 boys. We live in Rowlett, Texas.

As of January 1st, I decided to lose some weight with the help of Calorie Count. I started out at 220 and as of today I am weighing in at 181. I have been maintaining this weight now for about 3 months. This was a big goal for me personally and my family was a big help in keeping me motivated. They were very proud of my achievement, and me but according to my BMI I am still mildly overweight. In order to be a healthy weight I need to be 170 or less. Which to me is another goal that seems to be out of reach considering how much I have already lost...but I know once I get into the mind-set, it will be reachable for me. I feel like getting to 181 was a huge accomplishment for me but it seems that I am too comfortable because lately I have been eating like I was 220 again. So, I join this join in the hopes of the extra boost and motivation I need to get serious again and get to that healthy BMI and my next personal weight goal.

Hello Everyone!

My name is Diesel.  I am a former figure competitor.  Though technically, on paper I'm still eligible for the 2009 NPC figure nationals.  But a marriage, a move across the country, new house, and new job with a long commute and extra hours put a huge dent in my workout routine (from 6 days a week to a 10 month vacation).  I know how to diet hard and how to lose weight quickly.  But as with anything, I know going to the extremes is no longer what I'm after and I don't want to screw up my metabolism.  I've been back in the gym for 2 weeks now and completing an hour of cardio with each visit.  I'm learning to be patient and trying to be positive.  Furthermore, my husband and I are trying to conceive and now I've got to adjust to life without my second best friend "caffeine".  My goals are to lean back out and fit comfortably back into my size four.  My competition weight was 121.  But I'd be happy at a 126-128.  I'm also hoping my loss will inspire my husband whose workouts have also plunged.  We both need to reduce our stress levels and be healthier.

Hello everyone my name is Trosula everyone just calls me Ms. Tee. I am on this journey of getting healthy to be here to see my grandkids grow up. I joined this group to take charge of my own weight loss by limiting my calorie consumption. It has some great information to help me in my quest. I am currently living in Fort Worth, Tx and working as a Dept assistant in a hospital. I enjoy traveling have 5 grown children with two in college along with myself majoring in Business and Accounting. My love to travel is an even bigger motivation to lose the weight. I like car trips but flying is even better. I love being able to currently fly to visit my son that is in the marines for the weekend or even just one day. every moment is precious especially since he will be deployed soon.

Hello Dallas!! :)

I recently relocated to Dallas from Austin.  I am orininally from Tulsa, OK, but feel that Texas is where my heart is, especially Dallas.

I was very active as a child and into my teens, but began to gain weight my junior year of high school after transferring schools. I enrolled too late to be eligible for sports at the school.  The next 2 years I gained about 20 lbs.  I went from a girl in great shape at 120 to a girl in okay shape at about 140.  I wouldn't have called myself fat, but for a girl who had been in dance since she was 3 and was always involved in extra-curricular sports it was a little depressing.  Then came college.  My freshman year I went from 140 to almost 170!!! It was the FRESHMAN 15....TWICE OVER!! This along with many emotional issues threw me into a deep, DEEP, depression for the next 3 years.

Anywho, at one point I did begin to lose to weight.  My sophomore year of college I was able to get down to 143, but again I did not stay active and ate like I was still in dance, cheerleading, and volleyball...but I wasn't.  Again, in Austin, I ballooned to almost 170.

Since moving to Dallas, I have been able to lose about 10 lbs with diet and exercise going from 165 ro 156.  I live in the downtown Arts district and I try to walk everywhere and this has helped. I have a dog, Kingsley, and boyfriend, Marcuys, who both keep me very busy!! Kingsley is a fawn colored Boston Terrier who keeps me on my toes (if you don't already know, this breed is very tenacious, smart and ACTIVE).  I love  them dearly and don't know how I would get through my days without them.

My biggest downfalls seem to be getting motivated to get up and exercise on a regular basis, and eating healthier.

I have been a member of CC for a couple years, not sure exactly how long, but it has always been able to help me see the numbers and how what I am eating adds up, as well as how much working out can help a person lose weight.

Anywho, that's just a bit about me.  I am a bit of a "chatty-cathy" as you can see!

Have a great day DALLAS CC :)

Blair V.

Hello Everyone!  I am new to this website; so far I am finding it to be incredibly useful.  I love it.

About me:

1. History with weight loss:

I have been a yo-yo dieter up until last August 2008; having gained and lost weight throughout the course of my 44 years!  Since this time last year I have lost 43 pounds.  I think the main reason is that I've replaced the 'diet' thinking with 'healthy lifestyle' and try to focus on the people and events, rather than the food.  This is difficult, I love, love, love eating in social situations.  I've had to rethink this behavior throughout the last year.  The most challenging social event was the popular 'happy hour'.  I still go on occasion, but crave a happy hour at the gym or just stop by to say hello and actually leave after one.  Hard to do.

2. History with Calorie Count:

I stumbled upon this amazing website a couple of days ago.  I do go to my family doctor once a month and weigh in as well.  I had gastric bypass surgery about 5 years ago.  Even with the surgery, calories -exercise - and a positive mindset are very important. The surgery was by no means a magic pill like I thought it was going to be.  Still glad that I did it now, however - a drastic decision for something that continues to be a daily way of life.

3. Reason for joining this group:

Even with the watching calories, exercise, and positive mindset, it helps me to understand that I am not in this alone and there is a huge support group - especially local.  The last '17' pounds are in front of me.  Never have I been to my goal weight so arming myself with as much support to get there and stay there are key to me joining this group and this website.

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:

Years ago I actually wrote a chapter in a leadership book with focus on a healthy lifestyle.  If anything, I realize this life is about continuous learning.  When I wrote the chapter my mindset was, "ok - check  -- this is complete -- next."  Not so,  some of the same obstacles and challenges exist everyday.   What's different is how my approach is and what I've learned.  Does this mean I am getting older or wiser?  Hopefully wiser; still not sure.  During the day I work for a Railroad that is headquartered here in Fort Worth and by evening and weekends I am a business partner with my fiance in our 'Handyman/Remodeling' business.  My family is amazing, I have four (actually soon to be six with my fiances family) children ranging from 22 years old (and much smarter than I he will say - my son) to 12 years old (she is my baby and is going on 22).  My fiance is my other half; we dated 20 years ago (where did time go).  It's a great story for another time.  Our family dog is sweet but anti-social when it comes to anyone new.  As far as interests, running and working out, reading books, and working hard are just part of a day in my life.

Hope I am not too boring. . . . thanks for listening!

Thanks - Teresa

Hello,

I am a 24 year old female married for 2 years. I do not have any children but, would eventually like to have them. However I do not think it is appropriate at this time in my life since I weigh 230 and 5'7. I weighed 125 when I met my husband 4 years ago, and I would love to see that number on the scale again. So good luck to all!!!Wink

Charles, 38, 5’7”, 180 lbs., 34” waist (even though I refuse to buy anything larger than a 32”)

NW Plano, TX

1. History with weight loss:

I was always the guy who could eat like a horse and not gain any weight.  At 25, I was around 155 lbs and hovered around 5% body fat.  I worked out a lot, had a physically demanding job and benefited from a high metabolism.  Once I finished school I started an office job and 13 years later, here I am at 180 +/-.  I slowly started gaining weight year by year.  By the time I turned 30, I was around 160 lbs, but my body fat was probably around 25%.  I got back into the gym when I was about 33 and was doing pretty good, brought body fat back below 20%, but slacked off after a couple of years.  Now I’m back on the wagon and realize that I need to adjust my diet to attain my goals (getting back into my 30” waist jeans).  I’m older with a slower metabolism rate, so I can’t get away with eating 4 taquitos from Whataburger with whatasized fries and DP like in the past.

2. History with Calorie Count:

I played around with a similar site a few years ago.  Found some good info, but was short lived on the diet and back on my “see-food” diet.

3. Reason for joining this group:

Just want to see what others in the area are doing as far as diet and working out.  Diet is definitely my weak point and I need to learn how to eat properly with proper portions.

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:

I worked in public accounting for over 8 years before joining my current company, a LTAC hospital group.  I spend my day at work polishing a chair with my rear.  Outside of work I stay pretty active with either working around the house or messing with my hobbies (working on cars, off-roading and drag racing).  I enjoy road trips and try to go someplace interesting at least once a month, even if it’s only an hour away.  I also enjoy riding my mountain bike and have been a member of 24 Hour since 2004 (although have gone consistently the last 3 years).  I watch maybe 30 minutes of TV a day, so I’m far from a couch potato.  I’m single, no kids and have a dog, two cats and a bird.

Troy, 41, 5'9", 279 lbs. 42" waist. Arlington, TX

1. History with weight loss:

I have been on a Yo-Yo, roller coaster of weight gain and loss for most of my life but now I am determined to get back to a healthy weight and stay there. I've never been as far out of shape as I am now and I don't want to ever be in this shape again.

2. History with Calorie Count:

I just stumbled upon this site while Googling to get some nutritional info on some foods and decided to look around and liked what I saw. This might be just what I have needed to get me on track and keep me motivated.

3. Reason for joining this group:

To meet other locals who are trying to get/stay healthy for mutual motivation and encouragement. Maybe some healthy eating ideas, etc.

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:

Well, I am an electrician who works at American Airlines in the Facilities Maintenance department. I have a wonderful wife and two great kids, two cats and a dog. We like to go camping and to drum jams at a local community center a lot.

Hi everyone, I'm Amanda. I'm 24 and in desperate need  of a change. I was blind to my weight gain through high school and college, I knew what was going on but refused to recognize it. Now I'm 336lbs and I need a change before I kill myself by over eating. Luckily I'm 5'7 so while my weight is noticeable I don't look like I weigh this much.

I found CC through a friend who is also wanting to lose weight and this seemed like an awesome way to keep track of what I was doing, food and exercise wise.

I'm employed with a billion dollar snack food company who has a plan to keep all of their employees fit and healthy, but it doesn't always work when I sneak down to the vending machines for a candy bar. I live with my two best friends and 4 dogs and I really love reading and dancing. Too bad I can't do both at once.

My goal is to lose the weight once and for all and to keep it off. I want to learn new eating habbits and be healthy and happy, for once!

Hi there.  I am Teresa and I am a nurse.  So it looks really bad when I tell other people how to get healthy and I can't seem to do it myself.  I was a scrawny kid and then adolescence hit and I bloomed everywhere!  I have tried different weight loss diets off and on most of my life but never seemed to work.  This time I am going to focus more on eatting healthy and making healthy substitutions for some of my foods that I eat.  I'm going to take it slow and easy.  I love the fact that Calorie Count (just found it on google) tells you exactly how much you need to burn or how much you took in, to make the deficit.  I live in the Garland area and I thought this would be a good group to learn tips and techniques, especially if you find something at one of our local grocery stores, or health clubs, or restaurants.  I live with my husband that I just married St. Patricks day this year, 2 grey hounds and four cats.  Currently his daughter (19) is stayin with us also.  I am a girl scout leader and I have a couple of part time jobs.  Just want to drop about 100 pounds and be healthy!  I am only 5"1 so it's hard to cover up that much weight!!  My first goal is to loose 15 pounds before Jan 1 instead of gaining 15 like I normally do during the holidays!

Hey ya'll. I'm Jennifer, Im 27 y/o and have  been overweight for as long as I can remember. 2 years ago I lost 50lbs and was determined to keep the weight off. Shortly after my weight loss I was accepted into nursing school and gained about 30lbs in the first 2 months of school. Needless to say I'm a stress eater. It seems my new profession as a RN and my eating habits just don't match up. I eat what ever is convenient whenever I can in mass quantities because it "feels good". Exercise has been non existent lately. Several years ago I was diagnosed with PCOS which explains why it takes so much effort to lose weight, and why gaining the weight back is so easy. I've decided to go back to what worked for me before which is logging my calories (1600 to 1800/day) and exercising 3-5 days a week. I'm looking for an exercise buddy in the Hulen/Benbrook area if anyone is interested. I'm looking to lose 75 to 100lbs.

Hello Everyone! I am Kristy, 31 yrs, and I have been overweight since my first daughter was born, '97. I went from 115 to 210 and have not lost much weight since then. I work during the day and go to school at night so by the time I get home... eat dinner and off to bed. I have recently decided to go online and I am hoping this knocks this habit out. I stumbled across Calorie Count by searching online and I must say.. I really enjoy all the resources that are offered. This is my second day on the calorie diet and so far so good. I am trying to drop to 160lbs by this summer, June, and if I can keep the cookies out of the house... then it will work.Wink
