Hi!  I'm Claire and I live in Chester County.  I've been traveling by train to Philadelphia for years to attend cultural events.  I love the orchestra and other music and all the museums.

Hello Meg and Claire!  My name is Shannon and I live in Philadelphia.

1. History with weight loss: I have been dieting off and on since I was 25.  Counting Calories is the only thing that has worked for me.
2. History with Calorie Count: I started CC about a month and a half ago
3. Reason for joining this group: Motivation and friends
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I work in an office in NE philadelphia.  I am getting married in March to the most amazing sexy man ever and have a pug puppy named Guinness and a kitty named Jameson :)

hi I'm Mike.

I have always been a big and athletic guy, but i have really packed on the pounds over the last 4years. i have always tried to watch what i eat, but too many dates, vactations and late nites out have sabotaged me.

i never really diet as much as limited my food choices to healthier ones, however i did lose 30lb on WW

i just joined CC on Tuesday and i'm hoping the pool of information and support along with my sweat equity will get me to my goal of 100lbs lost!  i'm a freelance artist in my spare time, i can cut a rug like a hot knife through butter and i can wiggle my ears!

Hi, I'm Liza and I live in Bucks County.  I originally started CC in May of '07 and lost 20 lbs., but I got sidetracked for a while (I could give a bunch of excuses, but there aren't any good ones).  I recently became fed up with the fact that within the last year I have gained back the 20 lbs that I had worked so hard to lose, so now I'm back and I'm ready to stick to it this time.  I guess I've learned that I can never let my guard down because those pounds will creep up pretty quickly.

Online support groups have helped with my success in the past.  I quit smoking 3 years ago with the help of an online support group, and when I lost my weight last year, CC was a huge part of that.

I'm looking forward to getting back on track and looking and feeling my best.  It's great to know that I'll have a place to check in with my fellow Philly people who are on the same journey.

Good luck to all of you!

Three years ago, I was 167 pounds with a 31 inch waist.  I am now 218 with a 37 inch waist.  I have to deal with physical injuries that can limit my activity, but when I was in physical therapy for 22 months weight control was not a problem.  Even after the therapy all was well. I am now in a relationship and have moved from the city to the suburbs.  I am on pain meds that I know complicate things.  I seem to use too many excuses.  I am just  a lot less active and cannot seem to get back on track.  My significant other has also gained a lot of weight.  I need some support and perhaps a trainer or workout buddy.

Take care Lance

Hi all, my name is Justin.  I'm from Upper Darby.  About 7 months ago I started Weight Watchers and did very well at first, losing nearly 45 lbs.  (starting weight at 340 lbs.) but have since hit a rut.  I gained back almost 20 of those pounds and need to get in gear and get losing again, so that's why I'm trying Calorie Count.  This seems to be a pretty good program.  I've already seen some results through the food log and tracking.  I've managed to cut the amount of calories and fat i'm consuming every day.

I joined this group just to see how other people in my area are doing and maybe make a friend or two locally.

As for my personal details, i recently left my job at mcdonald's (that will probably help me drop some weight right there!) and took a position with Wachovia Bank.  I try to go to the gym but it's not easy.  It isn't much fun being the fat guy at the gym.  I have a great girlfriend who introduced me to weight watchers and who is extremely supportive, without her I wouldn't have made the progress that I did.  My main interests are music, computers and reading.

i am dana i am 27.  weight is touchy with me sometimes as i tend to go way up and way down but i love healthy eating and would love a forum to discuss good options in the philadelphia area with people!

i love to cook and entertain and exchange ideas (I am a low calorie nut).  I am typing this at 2am due to the flu and hope it makes any type of sense, I am usually quite good at stringing words together really)

:)

Hi everyone,

I am Kelly, 24 yrs old, I live in the Philly suburbs and work in the city.  Here is some additional info:

1. History with weight loss:  I have been struggling with my weight since high school- biggest breakthrough recently has been conquering emotional and night eating (which has definitely left me feeling so much better!)  At my highest, I weighed 168 lbs and lowest 120 lbs
2. History with Calorie Count:  I joined in the Spring and since then have lost 20 lbs (158-138 lbs)
3. Reason for joining this group:  I am interested in discussing my weight loss journey with others from the area- and maybe get some inspiration and advice
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:  I work at a large pediatric hospital doing research, I am getting married next year to my high school sweetheart and have a dog named Charlie

hiya,

had one episode in my life where i gained a bunch of weight, besides that i just have always wanted to tone up and look "like that girl" always wanted to lose 10 pounds to put me at the low end of my natural weight. i'm not fat, but just want to be thinner. i weigh around 136 at 5'7" which is fine but would love, love, LOVE to get down to 125....

i just joined up a few days ago and just need to be disciplined. it really is an eye opener. although i don't feel like i should eat as many calories as it says i should. it makes me really think about things. i mainly joined because i feel that i should be losing weight with all the running that i do, and i eat 85% healthy, but i'm not. so i just want to figure it out.

i bartend in center city, and have a 3 year old son, i am training to run the marathon in nov and am running the half on sun. i am trying to instill healthy habits in my son, and don't want him addicted to the same bad things like i am (pepsi is my best friend)

good luck to you all, here's to philly not being one of the fattest city's in the world....keep it up!

Hi!  I am Sarah, and I live in Abington.

1.  History with weight loss.  I'm 27, and I never really had an issue with weight until I turned about 26.  Up until then, I weighed between 130-135.  For the past year, I have been struggling at 150-155, and trying desparately to get back to 130-135.  I have lost a little, and am currently 148-151.

2.  History with CC: I started CC a year ago, and it has helped me to truly see what I'm eating.  Especially seeing how the snacks 'here and there' add up!

3.  Reason for joining this group:  I need motivation!  I got married in June, and that motivated me.  I was 145 on my wedding day.  3 months later, I am back up to 150!  I know I can do it!

4.  Some interesting details:  I work at a Chinese adoption agency.  I am a happy newlywed, working on fixing up our first house.

Hi, Im Annie and live in Burlington County NJ.

1. Yo yo dieter and decided in 2006 to become healthier...something finally clicked.

2. Joined CC in 2006 and log absolutely everything that goes in my mouth.  Joined a gym in 2007 and have been getting great results.

3. Reason for joining the Philly group....Id love to get to know more about the city and exercise w/ some new friends.

4. Interesting Details...lost 113lbs so far and have 7 more to go.  Have 2 grown children and 4 grands.

Welcome Annie! Congrats on your weight loss!  We could use some of your motivation!

Hi! My name is Ginny.  I am 27 yrs old and I live in NE Philly.  I am married with a 7 1/2 month beautiful son.  I was thin pretty much all my life.  When I was about 22 I started gaining some unwanted weight but blew it off thinking it would be easy to loose.

When I was pregnant I think I ate anything in sight.  I gained about 53 lbs.  I lost 25 of that just by having my son but now I have to work at this other 25 lbs.  I guess maybe to some people that doesn't seem like alot but to me I feel overwhelmed.  I work full time and have a baby to take care of.  It is so hard for me to stay on track.  When I fall of the wagon I tend to eat everything I see!

Also I quit smoking when I was pregnant and I think that has alot to do with things.  I just want to loose this weight and feel good about myself again.  I look in the mirror now and hate what I look like.

Anyway I'm hoping some support will help me stay on track!

Welcome Ginny! Congrats on quitting smoking! I quit in January and I teneded to eat a little more.  Welcome to the group!

Congrats to you both on quitting those nasty cigarettes.  Congrats on giving yourselves and your families a healthier YOU.

Hi everyone! I'm new to the group and new to the Philly area!

1. History with weight loss:  I've struggled with my weight/food for the past few years...either eating too little or eating too much which lead my weight to yo-yo.  But I'm ready to end the yo-yo trend finally.  I want to lose about 20 lbs in all and get in great shape.
2. History with Calorie Count: I used calorie count about 2 years ago and had a lot of sucess and lost 32 lbs...but binge eating took its toll on me and caused me to gain about 20 of it back.
3. Reason for joining this group: get some support and motivation from fellow PA residents
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I'm 22 and just graduated college, I'm job searching right now..actually have another interview today, I have 4 brothers, a crazy kitty named Zelda, I love to play sports especially basketball and love..love..love my Philly Eagles.

Hi All.....

I am new to the group. I live in the Philly area, been here for almost a year. I am 24...turning 25 this October 25th. Yikes!

1. My history with weight is rocky. I have been a dancer most my life (18+years). I finally stopped and started gaining all this weight. I went from a size 2 to a six in less than a year. It doesnt  sound like much, but I have a small frame and I am uncomfortable. I started the weight watchers at home kit. I am hoping to get down to 130 or so....

2. I have lost about 5 pounds so far, but as soon as I loose some weight, It creeps back on.

3.Thats why I joined this group. I hope to make friends and give/get support and motivation.

4. I love to walk my pitbull. I love walking around the city(Well, the nice parts). I I am currently job searching right now....Its a job finding a job these days.

Welcome to both fitnessmodel and jessica!

you sound exactly like me sazino! same exact crap at the same age! weird. :)

Hi everyone!  My name is Aimee and I live in NE Philly! 1. History with weight loss:  my history with weight loss, I've struggled with my weight all of my life.  I've always been the chubby one in my family.  I've lost weight twice in my life, to the point where I was happy with my body.  Once after joining Weight Watchers (then I got pregnant) and once about 2 years ago when I got on phentermine.  I stopped using that and gained some weight and then I got pregnant and wammo!  I gained SO much weight! i think it was my body adding on what I had lost and then some, a much needed reserve I guess.  I've decided that this time, I want to lose weight the right way.  I don't want to count points, I want to UNDERSTAND every single piece of food that I put in my mouth and how it is going to impact not only my weight, but my health and my body.  If I understand the pros/cons to certain food choices, it's easier for me to choose against the poor ones and go with the good ones.

2. History with Calorie Count: I just found this site yesterday and am so excited!!  It's FREE number one.  It has so much information.  I can track everything here.  And there is online support.

3. Reason for joining this group:  Well, because it was suggested and because everyone here is from Philly or the surrounding areas.  i thought maybe I could find some friends that are interested in doing fun things like hiking and other stuff togther

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:  interestig facts about me - I work full time, i'm married, i have 3 kids , my husband is a health nut, my interests are now finally getting healthy and getting in shape.  hula hooping. dancing, music, watching TV, reading, I love to read, writing, etc. etc.
