hey everyone, i am 19, turning 20 in the summer (scary).  I am from Juniata but now live 20 minutes south of Doylestown, in Horsham.  I am new to this.  When i left high school i was 255 lbs.  During my freshman year i lost 30lbs, and for my sophomore year i would like to drop another 25 and try to level off around 190 to 200lbs.  i am have a large framed body with broad shoulders.  i have weight goals but i size goals.  i would like to get down to a 32, i am currently a 38.

Welcome  Skitc515 and Aimee!!!  Happy to have you here! Please feel free to post in our daily thread!

Talk to you soon!

Hey I'm Nikki.  I'm 31 and have struggled with food issues since I went to college.  In highschool I was as skinny as I'd want to be-- 5' 8" around 130 lbs with a medium frame and good curves =).  When I went to college I had no eating habits of my own and started eating crap--fast food, cafeteria food, pizza.  When I hit 190 my freshman year I freaked out and went on a facsist, eating disordered diet that included hard core cardio and purging.  I got back down to 145 or so and was happy.  Eventually I slipped back into bad eating habits and thus the yo-yo began.  161 then 145 then 181 then 135 now I'm up to about 173, have lost the ability to lose weight as easily as I once could and I don't want to starve myself or resort to disordered eating habits.

I just found Calorie Count today and I have done online calorie counting before but I like the community aspect of this one.  I hope to create a support community and talk about my journey toward a healthy body image and a good relationship with food.

I have a 1 year old pitbull, a kitty and a boyfriend.

Nikki!

Welcome to the group!  We could use everyone's support on the daily threads as well as the Weight In Friday thread!  The more support the better!!!!!

You can do this and eating healthy feels better than bad food taste!

Hey Nikki!

Your old habits sound like mine. I will admit i just added back in my unhealthy addiction to energy drinks, hoping the taurine will give me that kick back! :) but other than that- good luck, i hear ya on not loosing as quickly as you used to! It used to take me a few days to be back to normal (my old norm 135-140) but now, forget it, it's been a year since i've seen the 140's!

I'm Gerry from Levittown and I'm gonna turn 30 this Sunday.

1. History with weight loss: I'm 5'11'' and weigh 275lbs, which I've had enough of. I've been heavy since I was about 18 and I've never stuck with getting rid of this weight. I've tried all those diets like atkins, south beach, etc, but once I come off them, POOF, right back up.

2. History with Calorie Count: Just found Calorie Count two days ago and love it. Seems to be just what I need to finally get down to business.

3. Reason for joining this group: I look at my 2 year old son Cam (profile photo) everyday now and I start wondering how long I'll be around for him. At my current weight, I don't think I'll pass 65. I want to be able to play outside with him without getting winded. Maybe coach peewee football for him and other stuff like that. So it's time for me to get serious now and get myself back down below 200. I love that this group is full of people near by to discuss things to do to lose weight in the area, good places to eat well in the area, etc. My goal is 175lbs by my next birthday - 11/9/09.

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I'm an electrical engineer with the department of defense. Have a BS in EE from Penn State GO LIONS!!!!! Have a Masters in EE from Villanova. Have a beautiful supportive wife for 3 and a half years now. Have a 2 year old son who I ADORE!!! I'm an Eagles season ticket holder and an avid NFL fan. I also love them Phillies - WORLD CHAMPS!!!!!

Well I go to school at Lehigh University so I figured if I was going to join a group based on geography, this would have to be the one as Bethlehem doesn't quite merit its own.

My name is Joe I am 40 years old live in Maryland. Divorced and I’m still close to my step-son get to see him almost every day. I am working on career number 2 I went back to school and I am taking Network Management online at Westwood College. I am ex-Navy submariner, served from 87’ to 92’ stationed in Pearl Harbor HI. I now work for the Army Corps of Engineers in Chesapeake City Md as a marine traffic controller for the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal. Interests include surf-fishing and photography.

History with weight loss has been in the fashion of a YO-YO. I have tried several different diets, but I think it’s my lack a trying harder because I blame my job as a shift worker from getting to that end goal. But now I am just sick and tired of being like this so time to suck it up and “Just do-It”.

History with CC: none first timer here.

Welcome Joe!

Hi all.  I'm Ron, 33 years old.  I live in Bucks with my lovely wife.

1. I used to be rail thin until I hit my mid 20's weighing around 150lbs.  All in the sudden I started putting on a little weight, then a little more.  I really started gaining fast when I quit smoking and before I knew it, I was over 200 lbs.  When I got engaged, I was the biggest I had ever been at 230lbs.  I got really determined to lose weight for my wedding.  So I went on a diet and went to the gym every day and got down to 195 for my wedding and looked pretty good in our wedding photos.  I've been married for 5 years now, and was back to being 225 when I joined CC.

2. History with Calorie Count: Just started after Thanksgiving, after seeing photos of myself and being completely depressed about my appearance.   This is week 3 for me and I've already lost 7 pounds!

3. Reason for joining this group: Its always better to have a support system of likeminded people whenever you take on a major challenge, especially when it involves a change in lifestyle.

4.  I used to be a school teacher (I really packed on the pounds with the stress), but I recently left the profession, and I'm now in higher ed administration. MY hobbies include movies, and music.  I love hanging out with my friends and occassionally singing with my freinds band.  I'm also an avid gamer and enjoy online games.

Hi, I'm Abbey!  I'm 24 years old and live in Center City Philadelphia.

1. I started as a chubby kid, grew into an overweight teenager, and eventually became obese in my early 20s.  My heaviest weight that I know of was 242 pounds.  I half-heartedly "tried" a few things to lose weight: Weight Watchers, South Beach, and Curves.  I never made any weight loss efforts my top priority though, and continued to gain.  I wore a size 22 dress to my college graduation in June '07, and then went on a 4-week trip to Israel where I lost 15 pounds (due to a lot of physical activity and less eating).  The habits I picked up on the trip stuck and I lost 35 more pounds over the next year, with what seemed like very little effort.  I am still not sure how those 4 weeks changed a lifetime of bad habits, but all I know is that something just "clicked."  Then over this past summer of '08 I stopped losing weight and stayed the same weight for many months (190 lbs).  I should add that I am 5'0" tall.

2. I joined CC about 2 weeks ago to re-examine my habits and determine why I stopped losing weight.  I also joined the gym about 2 months ago and I go 3-4 times per week.  Even this short time on CC has helped me tremendously to see in detail what I am eating and burning.  I lost 4 pounds in the first week (now I weigh 186), but my goal is a much slower loss of 1 pound per week.  I have no idea what I will look like under around 175 lbs because that is the lowest I can remember being, so I would like to get down to around 140 and see what that's like.

3. I joined this group so that I could receive support from other people in this area trying to lose weight, and also use my experience with losing over 50 pounds to support others.

4. I have a civil engineering degree from Drexel and work in Center City designing highways.  I was born and raised at the Jersey shore and enjoy visiting in the summer and going to the beach.  I also like going to the gym, cooking, going to concerts, shopping, and walking around Philly.

Hi my name is Tava and I am 38 yrs old.  I have been grossly overweight for about 10 years.  Every time I tried to lose weight something would happen that would throw me off track. This time I have made an unequivacol committment to losing weight and getting healthy.  I have loss about 19 pounds so far, but I have so far to go.  My plateau weight was 275lbs, and although I carry it well, I just hated the way I looked.  It seems it harder for woman to lose weight than men, and sometimes I get discouraged about this sometimes, because I have been working so hard and sacrafing so much

Welcome Tavabennet and shdean!  I am happy you joined!  We WI on Fridays but feel free to go WI an another day and post it anyway.  You will get great support here.

Shannon

Hello All,

I joined CC today because I recently converted to a vegan diet. My reasons were primarily ethically based but I QUICKLY realized I was going to need help nutritionally. It has been a challenge but I feel steadfast and strong. I have already lost five pounds in the three weeks since my conversion!

1. History with weight loss: I have been a yo-yo dieter most of my life. In 2000 I was at my healthiest and I would like to improve on that this time around AND make it permanent.
2. History with Calorie Count: I just joined!
3. Reason for joining this group: Well, the site recommended it and I thought "why not"
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I went to university for Musical Theater, I lived part of my life in Europe, I am an artist (drawing & painting), I have a dog and two cats who I treat as though they are my children and I have been in a steady relationship for almost nine years.

Lastly I am glad to joined this site and look forward to the journey ahead.

My name is Dee Anne. I live in the suburbs northwest of Philly.

Over the past year I have had 2 surgeries (knee and shoulder). These injuries have been really hard for me and knocked me off my healthy lifestyle program. Now that I am repaired and starting physical therapy, I am getting back into exercising, riding my bike, and reestablishing my nutrition plan.

Back in 1997, I lost 40lbs following the Zone Diet (40-30-30) and working out with fitness videos.  I went from a size 16 to a size 8 in about 8 months. I felt great and looked fabulous in my size 8 jeans, but it was hard to stay focused on the strict diet without support.  I gained back some of the weight, but thank goodness I was able to maintain a size 12 for the past 9 years. While I eat healthy and natural foods, portion control and eating out are my weaknesses. Over the past 6 months I have gradually added back the rest of weight I had lost.

I am very good at starting a diet and sticking to it. I need to find a balance between my nutritional needs and my exercise routine. I love to ride my bike. In the summer I will ride my bike 200+ miles per week. I have found that this type of exercise (cardio only) makes me really hungry and crave foods that do not support weight loss. This year, I am going to do a few things differently, so I can maintain my weight loss program.

1.    I joined fitfreshphilly.com (food delivery service) to help with the diet part. I will have meals delivered 3 days a week, so I can focus on my exercise program instead of meal planning. I did this program last year and it helped me re-train myself to recognize correct portion sizes. I lost 14 lbs over a 2 month period and kept it off until the middle of the summer when my injury and stress took over.

2.    I am going to continue cross training when daylight savings time changes so I alternate between biking and weight training. I started my weight training today and plan to workout 5 days a week. As my shoulder gets stronger, I will gradually add in some biking.

3.    I joined this group to find others who are motivated to lose weight too.

Details about myself. - I am 42. I am engaged to this really great guy who loves biking as much as I do. I am a member of the Sturdy Girl Cycling Race Team (all woman bike club). I am a consultant and work with computers. I help companies deploy Microsoft SharePoint Portals/Intranets/Team Sites and Enterprise Content Management.

SW: 198

GW: 150

I am not focused so much on the goal weight but my fitness level. Right now the extra weight is like carrying around a 40lb bag of dog food everywhere I go. When I shed this weight I will be more competitive in races. I want to place in the top 3 in at least 6 races this season. I want to be wicked fast on the hills and in time trial races.  I also want to do a triathlon for my 45th birthday.

Welcome Cloverleaf and Dee Anne!!

Hi all,

My name is Josh and I live in Bensalem.

1. History with weight loss: Gained 110 lbs since 2003 (was 150, now 260).  Lost 45 lbs in 2005, and gained it back after quitting smoking.  Started diet on Monday and am down 9 lbs so far.
2. History with Calorie Count: I find that even though I am doing the weight watchers plan, it is also good to keep track of the number of calories I am actually taking in as well as burning off.
3. Reason for joining this group:  It'd be nice to find some local support.
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:  I work in IT, we have 3 cats, and we are now trying for our first child
