Hello all my name is Danielle.
My weight loss history is complex, I seem to go up and down all the time. My problem is that I know all the right foods to eat, but life is just so crazy sometimes, I eat what is available instead of taking the time to correctly prepare something healthy. I also reward myself when I lose a few, but I just sabatouge myself.
My doctor suggested that I need to eat around 1200 calories a day to lose weight and I found this site through a google search to help keep track of calories that I eat.
I hope that by joining this group and keeping track of what I eat, I will hold myself accountable.
I currently live in Northeast Philly, but grew up in South Philly. I have two wonderful men in my life , my husband and 5year-old son. I teach in the Philadelphia Public School system and coach volleyball and basketball.
I hope to lose 20-25 lbs. Wish me luck
Hi, my name is Jenelle. I'm 30 years old and I've lived in Philadelphia all my life. I graduated from Temple University in 2001 and have working in social service since then.
I have PCOS and have struggled with my weight since my first period (12 yrs old). I used to be a skinny little thing then bam, no more. I have lost weight several times, 58 lbs before moving into a dorm, but gained that back real quick. Then I lost 27 lbs. in the past 3 years, but have gained that back in the past year. I know a lot about nutrition and eating right, my struggle lies with putting the knowledge into practice on a consistant basis.
I started using Calorie Count in March and have actively been working on counting my calories for almost a week now.
Hello-
Just signed up the yesterday! So here goes....
My weight loss history: I have been on and off weight watchers for the past 5 years. Lost 30lbs and then gained it back.
I just started on Calorie Count and I am hoping to have bettter success.
I am really excited to meet people in my area that share the same weight loss goals. I would love to get encouragement as well as give it!
I was just married 6/7/8. I am a Benefits Analyst. I love my cat Babu and my husband Geoff.
Hello,
MY name is Lisa and I live in Berks County near Reading. I have been trying for a bit to change my lifestyle. Its not an easy thing to do. I'm trying to handle a stressful job (Actually the parent company just announced they are closing our plant here) and work a part time job, etc....
Thanks for having me!
Hello Everyone! I'm new to CC, just signed up today thanks to a new friend that introduced me to it. I live in Chester County, Downingtown / Exton area and love it! I grew up in Delaware County and moved out this way after baby#3 was born.
When she was only 3 month old, I found out I was pregnant with #4. So....two babies in 2 years really did a number on my body and self image. I am 33 years old and want to dress like it. Instead, I find myself wearing big, baggy clothes to hide my weight.
My youngest is now 1 yr old and I'm tired of carrying the weight around with me. I've decided that today is the day that I get serious about losing it. My goal is to lose 50lbs and I know that it's not going to happen over night. I'm hoping to meet others that can offer support and encouragement.
Welcome Gina! So happy you joined! You can do this! Congrats on making the first step.
We Weight In on Fridays and it keeps me honest to the say the least. Hope to talk to you more on the boards!

Hello all. My name is Tom and I live in NE Pennsylvania US. I'm 69 and have recently progressed from metabolic syndrome (high BP, high triglycerides, fat around the belly, borderline diabetic) to full diabetes. I knew I was playing with fire and sure enough I got burned (burnt, for all my British friends out there.) I'm now following a low fat, low simple carbs plan, including moderate exercise (mostly walking) and relaxation techniques. I've gotten a lot of help by reading things by Dean Ornish, who is a well-respected mainstream medical researcher. I've done pretty well so far (one month), have lost 15 lbs (about a stone for you-know-who) and have lowered my fasting blood glucose from a horrendous 310 mg/dl to an average of about 130. I still have a way to go: 55 lb wt loss goal, fasting BG below 100. I know it can be done as I have friends who indeed have done it. So let's all hang in there and keep supporting each other.

Hey all! My name is Lauren and I live 15 minutes from Philly on the Jersey side of the bridge. I actually tried to join a discussion on learning to run and somehow ended up becoming a caloriecount member! But no matter - I'm always trying to eat healthy and stay fit. In fact, that's why I was looking up running forums. I am doing the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer 5K at Great Adventure on October 4th, and so far can only run 1.3 miles without having to stop (outside, that is. I can run 2+ miles on the treadmill, but outside is an entirely different story!!)
Any tips on being able to essentially triple my running capacity in the next four weeks?!? I think I probably just need to just suck it up and increase my running to 5 days a week (right now I'm at 2-3 depending on my schedule and the weather).
Sounds like a plan 779! I think increasing the number of days you run will increase your capacity pretty quickly. Push for those extra distances every time you run. You'll get there! And, if you have to walk part of the way, Susan G. Komen won't mind a bit. You don't have to be perfect. What you are doing is grand in and of itself. If you keep training after the race, the next 5 K will be a breeze!!
Hey Lauren!
I also have been working towards a 5K. I decided I really like running so I set a goal to enter a 5K. I started with about a 2 mile route and once I felt I was getting use to that I added on more distance. I can jog the whole way if I jog veeery slowly. So now I'm working on intervals to pick up my speed. It might help to run some more days a week. If you look up runner's magazine on-line they have some good articles for begining to run.
Good luck!
Katie

Hello,
My name is Alison and I'm from Levittown, although I recently graduated nursing school from Pittsburgh.
1. History with weight loss: Hmm, I've been doing fad diets like LA weightloss and Nutrisystem since high school. During my last year in college I happened upon "strip that fat", a no nonsense guide about dieting. Basically it says that counting calories is the only way to lose weight and keep it off.
2. History with Calorie Count: Calorie Count was actually recommended in the "strip that fat" package as an easy way to count. I started last November at 164, and was able to lose about 10 lbs by February...then i guess senioritis kicked in, lol. so i restarted post-grad in may at 161, and haven't been very strict with it at all...
3. Reason for joining this group: Hopefully, this will help me stick with it, and we can all keep each other motivated and in good spirits! (plus I'm to be a bridesmaid next october and I refuse to be the misfit overweight girl!)
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:
I'm still looking for a job, believe it or not, with a BSN (damn this economy- yes it reaches into nursing as well). I've found that my eating habits at home are much worse than at school, when i could decide when and what. I am proud to say that for the first time in my life i have started running regularly (its actually pretty fun when you get used to it, and its an automatic feel good after).
