Hi everyone! My name is Des and I am a 23 yr old nursing student struggling to lose weight. I have never been skinny. I would say I was usually average but toned. Now I am the biggest that I have ever been in my life. 2 years ago I lost 20lbs and now I have gained about 40 lbs. I joined calorie count in Feb. 2007 . I joined this gorup because I can lose the weight by myself I need support and I want be in a group that understands the struggles of weight loss and college life. I love to cook, sleep in and go dancing with my friends when I'm not pinned down with nursing school. Thats about it thanks for creating this group!
Hello everyone! My name is Erica. I am 27 year ord music student and I am new to this particular site as well as calorie counting and fitness. I am under the impression that I need to burn more than my intake. I am simply trying to loser a fews ponds and stand feeling better.
1. The only history with waight loss I have is that when I was younger my metablosism was through the roof and I didn't worry about it. Now it seems it has stopped completely.
2. I have never counted calories. I am finding it very helpful already.
3. I need information and support.
4. I love ferrets. I play the oboe. I am transgendered woman. I hate the color yellow.
hey everyone! sorry it took so long for me to post. so i'm younger, like 15, but i saw my stats were pretty much the same as awitta so i thought it would be good to be in a group with someone who had the same goals. So basically my weight loss history is that about a year ago i was 150ish then by july 2008 i got to 127 then i went to camp and was at 124 at the beginning of August. The doc thought i lost it to fast so i had to gain a few pounds back so i have been between 128-132 the past, i guess, 5 months and have been wanting to slowly get down to 125 and if i can eventually, 120-but i havn't really achieved that yet. Also i had been going ot the gym a lot less, but am starting to go more regularly now, so that is good. oohh and i'm 5'4.
oh and by the way, i LOVE cooking, so anybody looking for some recipe ideas i might have some:) what kind of things do u guys eat regularly?
I didn't post my stats and stuff yet, so here ya go. :]
1. I'm Adrea and I've been on CC since mid October and have lost and gained about 5 lbs off and on. I live in my college's dorms, and find it sort of difficult to eat healthy there.
2. I lost 27lbs in just a few months about a year ago. And I gained 15lbs of the 27 very quickly after I went off my diet. So, I've been stuck at about 130 for 5 or 6 months and I'd really love to get down to 110-120. Anywhere in that range would be great for me.
3. I started this group because I know how hard it is to lose weight and keep it off, especailly when you're in college. I know college cafeteria food can be super greasy and unhealthy. The purpose of this group is for college students to give eachother support and advice. We will be posting recipes, workout tips, and advice on how to avoid college stress. :]
4. I am a Legal Studies major, Criminal Justice minor and I can not wait to be a lawyer. I have an amazing and supportive boyfriend of almost 3 years who I spend most of my time with. I love scrapbooking, cooking, and exercising. I'm also a huge fan of The Office, House, and Law and Order. :]
I'll be posting a list of my favorite easy-to-make healthy meals and snacks as soon as I have the time.
Thanks for joining everyone, and remember, WE CAN DO THIS! :]

Heyy everyone..
My name is Jen..
1) I started trying to lose weight last year when I started my freshman year of college. I lost about 65 lbs and got down to about 128.. now the past few weeks ive been doing horrible with all the food available 24/7 now that Im home for the holidays. Its tough because I have plans with all my friends I havent seen in a long time and all they wanna do is go out to eat. Also all the family get togethers are killing me because I dont want to deprive myself and make the holidays feel like torture. I know its gonna be hard now until new years so Im hoping ill be okay if i just start up again on the 2nd but im really worried about the damage that will be done by then.
2) I've been counting calories since last winter but I have just recently started using this site.
3) I joined this group because I'm really worried that being home for the holidays is really doing my progress a lot of damage. I'm getting scared and paranoid and Im losing confidence in my will power :(
4) Im nineteen, and a sports medicine major. I work at an amusement park over the summer but dont work while im in school. I'm addicted to shopping, candy is my biggest weakness, and HOUSE is the best show, second only to Boy Meets World. :)
Im sooo stressed over this break. I wanna just eat what I want and continue to work out and then just worry about it in January but I dont know if thats a good idea....
Thanks for joining, Jen. :]
I must admit, Boy Meets World is one of my favorites too! Don't about being home for the holidays, you can make it through. I know mom's cooking is probably really good, but probably not super healthy. (Or at least thats how it is at my house.) Just take small portions and try to get some exercise every day. You can do it!
ps.] I'm also addicted to shopping, lol.
haha thanks! That made me feel a little better.. Im having a rough day already.. I had xmas cookies for breakfast and I have a family dinner with my grammy tonight so I was feeling kinda down on myself.. At least I went to the gym, right? lol
i definitely know what u mean with the christmas cookies...i snuck a two or three last night after everyone went to bed...oh well. And fallformer-good job on going to the gym:) you probably burned most of the cookies! Actually yesterday i downloaded a new workout playlist to my ipod and ran 4 miles at the gym! That is the longest i have ever done so i am very happy! And i have to agree with you guys HOUSE is amazing lol. Im kinda a tv junkie so i have many other favorite shows....any other friends fanatics??
1. History with weight loss: It's a long one. When I was 11 I was really chubby so my parents sent me to camp for a summer (just regular sleep away camp - not fat camp or anything) and I lost a bunch of weight and ended up being pretty thin by the time I was 12. Then I had no idea about healthy eating but I was tiny so I overate and was sedentary and slowly gained until I was about 16 and 138 lbs when I got in a massive car accident and decided to revamp my life. I started going to the gym, I cut out fried food, red meat, and soda. This got me down to 120 but I wasn't there yet, I was a cardio queen - I could do 60 minutes on the elliptical but I wasn't pushing myself anymore and I was eating healthy but probably too much. That's when I found CC, I dieted and exercised my way down to a toned 112 while my goal was 105 - then it was time to start college. I tried to keep up my work out routine but time constraints, unhealthy dining hall food, and alcochol screwed me up and by the time I got home for thanksgiving I was 127. Now I'm trying to lose back to 120 by the time I go back to school and I hope to keep losing.
2. History with Calorie Count: Eh, see above.
3. Reason for joining this group: I have two more weeks to be home, I'm 124 lbs, and I'd like to be 120 by the time I get home.
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I'm a freshman in college, I waitress in the summer, I'm an only child, I like to dance and I love yoga and exercise and active activities. I really really want to be in shape because I'm 4'11" and being tiny is really important to me
Hello! i'm Amanda, a 18 year old freshman just trying too loose about 15 pounds that won't come off!
I've tried every fad diet there is and know that they really don't work in the long run. I now eat very very healthy and eat about 6 small meals a day and try to get to the gym once a day. i know if i keep it up i'll reach my goal but i tend to give in to the midnight snacking after about 5 days of dieting and then start back up with being healthy again. i just need some motivation to STAY ON MY DIET AND getting to the gym!
2. i joined caloriecount about a month ago and really love it. i've realized tho that you can't count on them for what it says about how many calories each item has. They have alot of that wrong. and i just found out about the groups and stuff today!
i joined the group because the title is perfect for me and think that i need ppl my age to help support me.
4. i love to chill and hang out with friends and my boyfriend i also work as a waitress. i like to party and shop!![]()
Thanks for joining Amanda,
I also have done several fad diets and I always gain back the few pounds that I lost. I also need motivation to stay on my diet and go to the gym. So, we should motivate eachother! Lol We also both love shopping and our boyfriends. :]
laughoutloud,
I'm glad you joined this group! :] I love exercise too, it's seriously addictive. I get that you're only 4'11 and that you want to lose weight but don't worry about being "tiny" just worry about being healthy first. :]
Sourapple,
I do love friends as well. :] And I totally know what you mean about running more when you have new songs to listen to. I try to switch mine up pretty often cause it keeps me going much longer. I can't stand working out with no music at all. So, what kind of music do you like?
REMINDER TO EVERYONE: WEIGH IN'S ARE TOMORROW. TRY TO WEIGH IN THE SAME TIME THAT YOU DID LAST WEEK, UNDER THE SAME CONDITIONS [CLOTHED, OR NOT CLOTHED-WHATEVER]. I'LL PUT UP A SEPERATE FORUM FOR THE WEIGH-IN TONIGHT SO IT'LL BE UP FOR EVERYONE TOMORROW! GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! :]

Hello everyone. I am new to all of this online help. I am falling in love with the calorie counter. I am 30 and in school full time, work full time and have a hubby and 2 kids (5 & 2). I realized while trying to find something to wear on Christmas Day- that- nothing fits because I have gained 40 pounds over 3 years. I realized I needed to do something about it- so I am here to change my lifestyle. If anyone has any advice on things that could help, I would so appreciate any help I can get. Thanks, Happy New Year to you all!
Thanks for joining jawahtola,
School full time, work full time, and a family? Woofta, sounds like you must be really busy. I'm sure exercise is really hard to fit into your schedule, so I'd just try to stick to your calorie limit for now. The burn meter on calorie count is the number of calories you burn throughout the day [not including workouts or extra activities] based on what you chose for your activity. If you eat 500 calories less than that a day, you'll lose 1lb a week. [3,500 Calories=1lb] If you add exercise, you'll lose even more. Never go below 1,200 calories though. Thats really cool that you're chosing to change your lifestyle. I'm tr'ying to focus on the big picture too. :] Just start by trying to add more fruits and veggies to your snacks and meals. Thats what my first step is going to be anyway.
Weigh-ins are every Monday, there will be a forum you can post on. Thanks again for joining.
-Adrea :]
hello!
I'm a full time student who gained the freshman fifteen last year. Trying really hard to be health conscious and what not. Exceptionally difficult to do when you have little money and little time. I'm also in the army...surprise surprise I didn't lose ANY weight at basic training. So I'm hopeful that doing this program and having the support will be the difference. Looking to make friends on here too! :)
rachelle
oh! I'm also a pre-law major (and a military police officer in the national guard) so awitta and I have much in common! I also LOVE house, law and order (suv is my favorite), csi (vegas), and family guy. :-)

hi everyone
my name is elisa (pronounced E-lee-Za) everyone says it wrong lol. umm i'm a college student studing mathematics. i'm a Junior. I started gaining weight when i moved to America, before hand i was always skinney. Now i'm overweight by 70lbs. witch is rediculas. I joined calorie count because I finally realized that i need to lose weight for me and noone else. I've tried alot of different thing including weight watchers (which turned out to be way to expansive). i did lose 10lbs on weight watchers though.
I have a little more capability with eating then some of you because i dont live on campus (i rent an apartment). And i do have the income that i need to buy the right foods. the bad thing about this is that alot of my time is taken up with school and work, so i don't have alot of time to excercise more then 2 hrs a day.
oh i almost forgot, i'm 5'1, 190lbs, and mid build :)
ciao
elisa
I'm a 20 year old student studying film/media and english. I don't actually calorie count but I do try to eat healthily and watch my portion sizes as well as doing at least an hour of exercise 4-5 times a week. I came here to share in on stories and advice with like-minded people. I've been on a fitness plan that I made up myself and so far I've lost about 20 pounds. Christmas has slowed down my progress a little but I'm slowly recovering and I really hope I can prevent new years eve from slowing down the progress further. I might post a topic on this so if you have any advice please share.
I would love to contribute to the weigh-in topic but I prefer to weigh-in on friday mornings rather than mondays because I usually have my 1-2 treats of the week in the weekend lol.
Happy weightloss, people :)
Hiiiii, I'm Marissa, I'm a college sophmore studying math and linguistics (weird combination, I know.) I never really cared about my health until last summer, I didn't gain the freshman 15 but I didn't care about what I ate my first year in college, ya know? Then all of a sudden last summer I went health crazy (since I didn't have anything to do for 4 months, I realized I would have eaten my way into oblivion if I didn't change soemthing.) and I lost about 20 pounds, not in the healthiest way (I ate about 900 calories a day and exercised so I would have a ridiculous deficit). I managed to stay at the same weight (134) during my first semester of college, but over break I gained about 4-5 pounds. My goal is to get to the 125-130 pound range in the kinda-ish near future. I've been using calorie count on and off since last summer but I never joined any groups or forums before, so this is super exciting! Yay for first posting!! I really wanna lose those extra 10 pounds or so and meet some new friends and such!
Hi, my name is Andrea, 26 and a junior freshman (yes i know i'm a bit older then the average JF).
I have always been overweight even in kindergarden and therefore have the full history of cash diets, weigh watchers, .... you name it i tried it! Unfortunatly i also have the history of gaining all the pounds i lost back in know time and a few more at that. At the moment i'm about 215lb want to loose quiet a bit but 20 would do me fine for a start!
Joined CalCount more for the motivation/talk then for actual cal counting (been there, done that....doesn't work long term) anyway just started to eat a bit healthier and venturedinto the gym, which i surprisingly enjoyed?!
Will be going on a class trip soon which involves some sporty stuff and i don't want to embarrass myself completly.
(oh and sorry for the dodgy spelling, english isn't my first language)
