I guess I'll start.  Smile

1. History with weight loss:  It's all in my bio, but basically I was always super skinny, then I gained weight when I went on daily anti-migraine meds.  I lost weight when I stopped taking medication, but I became pregnant soon after.  I was able to get down to my goal weight (thanks to CC), and then I got pregnant again.  LOL!

2. History with Calorie Count:  I signed up for CC 2 years ago after having my first baby.  I was able to lose 28 pounds and get to my goal weight, and I'm hoping to get back to goal after my next baby is born.  Smile

3. Reason for joining this group:  I live in Ft Bend County and am interested in meeting other people from around the area.

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:  I have a degree in geology and have worked as a geological technician in the past, but I'm a stay at home mom of one son, and soon to be daughter now.  My husband works for HFD.  We have 2 dogs and 2 cats, and my family and pets keep me pretty busy!

Hello! I started being serious about this in June. When I joined the biggest loser game at work. I like challenges like that, motivation & the pleasure of winning. I found this site when I was reading articles about fitness & the right foods to eat. Its great I love it. I started gaining weight after I got married 7 years ago. My highest weight was 254 lbs. I have always been the curvy perfect body all the way until my 20's. After that I just let myself go & started to be really lazy & ate alot. After I had my baby I went down to 221. Its been about 10 weeks I have lost 27 lbs. Now I am at 193. This is my lowest weight Ive been in 7 years. I am soo excited. My GW is about 150 I am 5'7. I dont want to be too skinny but I want to get my cute curves again & my small waist. My GW for Halloween or before (hopefully) is go down to 175.

More about me... single mom, I have a daughter 2 1/2, & a son 4 1/2 months. My job is in accounting, sitting down for 8 hours. but always make an excuse to go walk around & get some exercise during the day. I just recently joined the gym about a month ago. I am so excited to go. I been going to every class they have aerobics, kickboxing, step up, etc... On days that I dont make it to class I just work on the machines for cardio or weight lifting. best of all they have babysitting. so dont have to worry about them. I guess thats it for now.

Hi everyone! :-)

1. History with weight loss: I've been overweight my entire life, but after I graduated college I really packed on the pounds and hit my highest weight of 220lbs.  I decided to finally do something about my weight this year and since January 1st I've lost 48lbs, and hope to lose another 22lbs or so by the end of the year.

2. History with Calorie Count:  I joined CC in late January because after a month of counting calories and losing weight, I discovered that I really needed a support system if I was going to keep this weight loss thing going.  I looked everywhere for an online community that wasn't tied to a particular diet (ie South Beach or Atkins) and stumbled across Calorie Count.  Definitely one of the best things to happen to me in this whole weight loss process! :-)

3. Reason for joining this group: Um, I live in Houston? I can't really think of another reason besides that! :-)

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:  Well I'm originally from the midwest, but I've been here for 7 years so I'm beginning to think I should say "Houston" when people ask where I'm from... I don't have any kids, but I have 2 cats and a boyfriend, so sometimes it feels like I have kids, lol!  My hobbies change with the seasons, and especially as I lose weight and have more energy I'm looking for more stuff to do.  Right now I'm spending a lot of time sewing (taking in all my big clothes, but also making some stuff from scratch).  I love to bake, but I've cut down on that for obvious reasons (lol), and I try to get myself to workout, but since I'm a competitive person, I'm also looking for intramural sports to play.  Working out is more fun when it doesn't feel like a workout! :-)

Howdey all!

I've been overweight for at least 15 years, but only started a few years ago to "do" something about it. Most of that "doing" was making vague attempts to watch my carb intake. It never made any difference. I don't remember exactly how I came across CC, but doing so has changed my life! I've finally started losing weight; down 14 pounds in 3 months!

So that means I've been with CC for 3 months and loving it! Great information and good people; what a combination.

I joined this group because I thought it might be cool to have some one local to talk to about eating and work out issues in this town.

I don't generally find many things about myself or my life terribly interesting, but I'll give you a basic run down anyway. I'm a 37 (almost 38) year-old wife of 18 years and mother of two boys, a 5 year-old and a 2 year-old. Monday thru Thursday I work (purchasing) for 10 hours, then go home and play with da boys, eat dinner, and sleep. Fridays don't have a schedule yet (the 4 10 thing is pretty new still), but now that the older boy is in school I'll have some more one-on-one time for da baby. Weekends we generally spend doing stuff around the house, although there is always time made for the kids to do something they like. I'm hoping, now that the "baby" isn't really a baby anymore I'll find/make some time to get some sewing done.

Hi,

1. Been battling the weight since the teenage years.  In 1993 I lost a huge amount on a liquid fast & exercise.  And through the miracle of stress and unsupportive environment, gained all and plus back.  Then tried the South Beach Diet.  I did well; but due to medication, health issues, and once again, unsupportive environment, the weight piled back on.

2. I found stumbled upon CC looking for calorie counts for foods & exercise.  I just realized that I could keep track of everything right here.  So I signed up.

3. I thought I might find some people, perhaps in my area, to getting moving with.  Currently it's me & the dog buring up the pavement.  Or atleast that's what it feels like, LOL.

4. I'm sooo not techno savvy.  That's why I don't have a picture or some cool avatar up.  I am a student with a hubby and 2 dogs.  No kids.  I love to read, sing silly kareoke, slug back a few(if the calories permit), do crafty things (already trying to figure out this year's Christmas ornament), and hanging out with the rest of the family (it's small, but I am ready to branch out).

1. History with weight loss: i have always been median weight my whole life, after high school i dropped 20 pounds and was the smallest i have ever been. i could fit into everything and look great and it gave me such confidence. after a year and a half i gained weight 30 pounds to be exact i joined LA Weightloss (out of business) and got back to a healthy weight. i guess i thought it was soo easy because it didnt take long to loose the weight so i never paid attention at what i would eat after that. after i came back from Florida i gained 10 pounds. i was upset because my boyfriend suggested working out to fit into my clothes better. I should have listen! lol Now im the heaviest ever! I am 45 pounds over weight. i went through hard times this year with me being lay off and unemployed for 3 months. i finally have a stable schedule now and I am ready to do whatever it takes to be a size healthier!

2. History with Calorie Count: This is my first day! Im excited to begin!
3. Reason for joining this group: I want to have support from people who have had success in sticking to their goals
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I am a proud home owner i have lived there for about 2 years. I have 2 cats and 1 dog. I live with my boyfriend of 4 years. my interest have been recently to loose and keep of my weight by adding excercise to my routine. I work as an administrative assistant.

Greetings from Iraq.

History with Weight Loss: I've always been a thin person, until I joined the Army.  Since, I've put on 30 pounds and a tummy.

History with Calorie Count: I just happened to stumble upon this site and thought I would give it a try.

Reason for joining this Group: I joined this group because in a few months I will move back to Houston, to go back to school.  No more Army for me.  If anyone needs support, or help with an excercise program, I'm pretty knowledgable.  After all, we do try to excercise everyday in the military.

Interesting Facts about Myself: I will be getting out of Army in a few months.  I enlisted as medic, and can't wait to attend college again.  I plan on running the Memorial trail often when I get back, so maybe, you'll see me there.

Good luck with your diet everyone!

Hello everyone!

1. History with weight loss: My weight has gone up and down all of my life. I have done almost every kind of diet you can think of. I lose weight and then gain it back, plus some. The heaviest I have been is 182 and the lowest I have weighed is 138 (I am 5'4). My goal is to be 130 and to live a healthy lifestyle.

2. History with Calorie Count: I joined in May of 08. Since joining I have gained 7 pounds because I started and the stopped. As you can tell I gain weight pretty easily.

3. Reason for joining this group: I am from Houston. I want to start using support groups to see if it will help me stay on track.

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I work in downtown Houston as a Paralegal. I have 2 daughters, 13 and 10, 2 dogs, a chihuahua and a boxer,  and oh yeah I have a husband too! I play soccer and I love it, it is my favorite sport! I am just about to finish up my Asocciates Degree and then I am off to U of H to pursue my Bachelors. In what, I am still not sure . . .

Well that is enough about me. I hope everyone is doing well with their goals.

Hi,

1.History: I've always been active and in shape till this past October I became a first time mom. Pre-pregnancy weight was 130lbs and now I'm 196lbs. I love my new life, but my body is a stranger to me. None of my clothes even come close to fitting, I don't feel sexy and my baby, breastfeeding and cleaning the house take so much of my energy I don't feel like running like I used to. I also am having difficulty dropping the bad eating habits I obtained from my pregnancy. Also my breastfeeding is going so well im scared if I change anything like adding running and/or reducing calorie intake, my breast milk will be effected.

2. History with CC: I've been looking at some post here or there for a few days. just joined today.

3. Reason: I want to know how other mom's lose the weight.

4. Interesting details about me: My husband and I met January 2007 at a new years party here in Houston. We partied a lot in Las Vegas, moved in together, got married in February and had my little honeymoon baby October 31, 2008. We are so happy and surprisingly enjoying the family life. I'm a stay at home mom (well I will soon be working part-time this January for extra shoe money), I want to go back to school soon and polishing up my cooking skills.

Hi! My name is Tania and here's just a bit about me.

1. History with weight loss:

I've been within 15 lbs of my goal weight before and because I'm an emotional eater, the stresses at the time sent me back to the refrigerator.  I have a much, much, much easier time keeping weight off when I'm exercising regularly, but I have a hard time working that around a husband and 2 little ones.  I'm determined to do this in a way that does not include dieting, but the habit of writing down what I eat, no matter how many calories it becomes.

2. History with Calorie Count:

I recently joined calorie count and because of my successful history (food journaling and counting my food intake) and current lack of funds as it relates to Weight Watchers, this FREE service is perfect for me.

3. Reason for joining this group:

I would like to connect with people who live in and understand the stresses and temptations of this great city that I live in.

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:

I'm currently looking for a job, I have a 14 mo. old and a 3 year old.  I'm expecting more little ones in August, so I'm not really trying to lose weight as much as my goal is to avoid gaining too much weight by monitoring my calories and writing down the food that I'm taking in.  There is so much happening that this would be prime time for me to do some emotional eating.  I'm looking for a way for things to be different.

Hi, I'm Kim. I've been overweight almost my entire life even though I've been active and exercise regularly. My problem is no will power and I'm an unconscious eater (don't really pay attention and therefore don't make good choices). I'm determined though to lose 52 lbs this year. I start with a personal trainer tomorrow and have been counting calories for a week. I just switched to Calorie Count after being frustrated with an MSN health site that was too complicated to navigate.

I'm joining this group to get some support from others in the same boat. I feel weight loss is a very personal endeavor and everyone's method is unique to them. Maybe I'll find someone in a similar lifestyle/situation to compare notes with!

I'm a news editor with a high-pressure job that sometimes requires crazy and long hours, but I love it and can't imagine doing anything else. I'm originally from NJ and transferred because of my job in 2005. I have a husband who's a stay-at-home dad with our two young sons. Our lives are full of kid activities and social events with friends. We like to keep busy and not sit still.

As my sons get older, I want to do more physical activities with them like bike riding, canoeing and horseback riding, and while I can do those things now, losing the weight will make a whole hell of a lot easier!

Hi everyone, I have been here for about a week now. I wish I had known about Calorie Count a little sooner. I am loving it so far.

I was always tall and skinny...so much so that I was called spaghetti or skeleton when I was young. I got married in 82 and within a year I became a stay at home mom..I guess i mostly ate because I was bored. Before it was all said and done I was diabetic, had high cholesterol and was 340 pounds.

In 2001 I had the gastric bypass done..it was great..I never had one problem from it. In 6 months I had lost 100 pounds within a year I was 164 pounds. The diabetes and high cholesterol were gone! I was able to maintain this weight for many years. I eventually went through a divorce after 23 yrs...(he became a jealous crazy man.) I am now married to a wonderful man that appreciates me...but this was lifestyle change #1. My hubby loves to eat out and we do way too much of it.

Lifestyle change #2. Two yrs ago this month I changed jobs..I have a sit down job..that is relatively easy. I used to stand on my feet all day. I guess this 30 pounds has came on over the 2 yrs since I am not as active. I have had back surgery and suffer from pain all the time in my back and legs. So my exercise level is not what it should be. Since it has been 8 yr ago that I had the gastric..I eat more of a normal size meal now. The stomach does stretch back over time.

So here I am trying to lose that weight before it gets out of control. It is nice to have people to talk to that are going through the same thing.

Hi, I am trying to get back into the diet thing again. I have steadily put on weight with all my kids...10 pounds per child and then another 10 on top of that. My husband always raved about my cooking. He can get away with eating it, but I can not. So my cholesterol also goes up and he does not. Anyway about two years ago I lost 30 pounds by using a 1200 calorie diet and walking 5-6 miles a day. This was over summer so it was easier to have all the time to walk as I am off of work in the summer. I used a diet on my insurance plan and also CC to help keep count of the calories. Well over the course of two years I did not keep up my exercise routine nor my watching what I was eating and my weight is back up again, so here we go again. It is tough with my schedule to get in the exercise that I need to loose weight. I do get to do alot of walking with my job as I walk around alot in a school. I try to keep watch what I eat during the day, I just need to be alot more cautious in the evening. As of the past two weeks I have been doing a Daniel fast to get my appetites in check and just to seek God for his plan for my life. I am hoping that after this I will be able to start on a good plan of watching what I am eating, curb my appetite, and loose the weight again. I did just join the Biggest looser at work last week also.

Hi everyone,

I have been dieting for a few months now and I have managed to lose 31 pounds and have about 20 more to go.  I was always heavy as a kid but then joined the Marines.  For the twelve years I was in the Marine Corps I was able to stay in really good shape (uh, I was forced to stay in really good shape).  Then I lef the service and almost immediately I ballooned up fifty pounds without the regimented PT schedule of the military.  I am still fairly young and have no health issues other than my weight so now is the time to get myself back in shape before this being fat thing gets away from me.  My goal is to weigh what I weighed the day I graduated from Boot Camp and keep it off for the rest of my life.  I have already made some lifestyle adjustments like stepping on the scale every day and writing down everything I stick in my pie-hole.  Untill now I have done this primarily on my own.  My beuatiful wife is very slender, my business friends are either always eating or drinking (the sudden interest in mineral water has them all thinking I am going to AA).  Its tough to keep it going when no one around you can understand how one gets fat (my wife) or why one would care (my business friends).  I look forward to hearing how other cope with the same sorts of issues I have faced along this journey and maybe I can help motivate others.

I have a similar problem to jackbritton -- my closest friends are naturally VERY thin (sizes 0-6) and also pretty unathletic. My husband doesn't want me to lose weight at all, and constantly encourages me to indulge... it makes it almost impossible to make lifestyle changes without making a big obnoxious production of it, which I hate!

ABOUT ME: I'm 28, but I have started to look and feel OLD. My health is great considering that my BMI >30, but I'm just not happy with my body anymore... my hourglass is turning into a clock! I work at a desk 9.5 hours a day, so no activity there plus too tired when I get home... which is everyone's problem, right?

Why I joined this group: I don't like to cook, so I was hoping to start a thread for places to eat out in Houston that are diet-friendly, low-calorie menu items at Houston restaurants, tips like that... if anybody knows any great ones, please send me a message! ;)

1. History with weight loss: Always been pretty athletic until this last baby at age 27! Ughhhh since I had him I am just not as flexible or energetic as I used to be! But thats okay he is way worth it! :)

2. History with Calorie Count: No history yet.....

3. Reason for joining this group:Just signed in March 1st to get a little motivation and start counting calories for the first time in my life!

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I am 28 married with a 5 year old and an 11 month old! I have a rottie puppy who is very active and a chihuahua who is 5...oh yeah and a very fat cat who well doesnt do much of anything!

1. History with weight loss: Its been up and down every since I can remember. I was always a larger than normal kid and in highschool I was a heavyweight wrestler 217-275. Though I was mostly around the 240 lb. area. After high school I joined the Army and went through boot camp. I went in weighing 260 and came out weighing 190 lbs. Lean and mean bunch of muscle and motivation....until an injury. After which, I gained weight because I lost motivation. Shortly after I was discharged from the Army into the civilian life. After being under some type of control for a little over 2 years I felt the chains lifted and began to eat myself all the way to 320 lbs (which is where I was up to 1/6/2009 so its still history!)

2. History of Calorie Count: I heard about calorie count first when I heard Mary on the radio (I think it was on the Rod Ryan show 9.45 FM The Buzz). At the time I was not into making my appearance or health any better so I disregarded the information until March 9th when my weight loss began to slow down. I figured I would need a better way to keep track of my eating habits besides the "Oh I'll just remember it all" Its almost impossible to calorie count the way this website does in your mind. Plus the great ways to break down protein intake and other nutrients are just amazing to use and it definitely improved my eating habits.

3. Reason for Joining this group: I am from Houston and I figured what better group to be a part of? Also I like to read stories about people who are going through the same situations as I am. It gives me a sense of hope to see other people's success stories.

4. Details: I haven't updated any information really about myself but I am 24 and currently working my way through a career in human resources outsourcing. I am single and most of my family lives close by here in Spring, TX so they are great for support. My recent activities that I have gotten involved in is paintballing. What a great sport for the heart rate to be completely jacked the whole time. 3-4 hours of that and talk about some calories being burned!! Also since I began my plunge 200 lbs I have been obsessed with fitness. I love to work out all the time. I even find myself looking for desk exercises that I can do sitting in front of my computer at work. (OCD?? Maybe a little...lol)

Also I am open to new exercise programs. I recently started incorporating some p90x workouts in my routines and I found that they are awesome for stretching and rigorous for all muscle groups. But if you have any pointers on some great exercise programs let me know!

1. History with weight loss: I've always been a chubby kid, and it was something I'd always just accepted. My little sister was the thin, athletic one while I was the big, brainiac. When I graduated from college in 2007 I spent a month in Australia doing some conservation work and traveling around, I found that I was unable to push myself as far as the people I was traveling with and I think this (and looking at my pictures when I got back) is what really prompted me to start creating a more healthy lifestyle for myself. It's been slow, but I've lost 45 lbs. since Oct. 2007, and I'm hoping to lose another 20 by this summer for a trip to Europe with some of the Australia group. It'll be great to be able to keep up with other people my age!

2. History with Calorie Count: I don't remember now how I stumble upon CC but I've really enjoyed reading the forums and keeping track of my calories. It keeps me honest, and makes me think about each choice I make.

3. Reason for joining this group: Just the obvious, I live in the Houston area. :)

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I'm a Young Adult librarian in Friendswood. I work mostly with jr. high and high school kids, and I absolutely love my job! I'm finishing up (hopefully) my graduate work in library science. I love to travel, read, hang out with friends, etc. :)
