And now just go ahead and make that first post!
Hi, I've been losing weight for about 4 months now. I started at 250 lbs. and now I'm 196 lbs.. I joined calorie count almost 2 weeks ago because I was starting to hit plataues, and needed to know if I've been eating too much. My goal is to lose 36 more lbs. by this Christmas. If I can get to 160 lbs, I'll no longer be considered overweight for my height and age. I chose Christmas 2008 because results are the best motivation for me! I've been a weight loss - gain - loss - gain.... rollercoaster my entire life. When I was like 10 or 11 years old I would sit in front of the TV watching a SlimFast commercial and calculate how many weeks I'd have to do the program to get to the weight I needed to be! "Give us a week we'll take off the weight"... YEAH RIGHT!! GIVE ME 17 WEEKS!! 250 was my all time highest weight, and now after losing 55 lbs, I've recieved a mixure of "Wow you look Great!" comments, and (from the people who've seen me yo-yo in the past) "Losing weight...Again". I really feel like this time is the real deal and not a qick fix. I'm not on any crazy unhealthy diet, Just eating healthier foods in smaller portions. And I'm walking and jogging for an hour almost every day. I hate plataues! Seems like I hit one every 5 pounds! I joined this group basically to share my triumphs and failures, and to have people to relate to who WANT to talk about their weight and hear about mine.
Hello! I started being serious about this in June. When I joined the biggest loser game at work. I like challenges like that, motivation & the pleasure of winning. I found this site when I was reading articles about fitness & the right foods to eat. Its great I love it. I started gaining weight after I got married 7 years ago. My highest weight was 254 lbs. I have always been the curvy perfect body all the way until my 20's. After that I just let myself go & started to be really lazy & ate alot. After I had my baby I went down to 221. Its been about 10 weeks I have lost 27 lbs. Now I am at 193. This is my lowest weight Ive been in 7 years. I am soo excited. My GW is about 150 I am 5'7. I dont want to be too skinny but I want to get my cute curves again & my small waist. My GW for Halloween or before (hopefully) is go down to 175.
More about me... single mom, I have a daughter 2 1/2, & a son 4 1/2 months. My job is in accounting, sitting down for 8 hours. but always make an excuse to go walk around & get some exercise during the day. I just recently joined the gym about a month ago. I am so excited to go. I been going to every class they have aerobics, kickboxing, step up, etc... On days that I dont make it to class I just work on the machines for cardio or weight lifting. best of all they have babysitting. so dont have to worry about them. I guess thats it for now.
Hello,
My name is Fabiola and I started my diet this week....Ever since about 4 years ago I started slowly gaining weight....more than usual. I would loose 5lbs here and there and then go right back to my junk food habit.... Long story short I am now at my heaviest ever (189 at age 24, completely unacceptable)....and I was a chunky kid...hahaha. Anyhow, I guess it doesn't matter how I got here but what I am going to do about it....
I found a gym near my house that has cool dance classes and ZUMBA classes. Yesterday after work I took my clothes and headed straight to the gym to dance my stress and weight away...I have always enjoyed dancing, but since I gained weight I had just been feeling heavy on the dance floor no longer enjoying it...But not anymore!!!! I hobe to loose at least 15 lbs by my birthday coming up in October. And slowly shed the 30-40 lbs that I need to get rid of.....
I hope to make new friends here and cheer each other on...Good luck to everyone ;-)
Hello everyone! I am new to CC and want to make sure I stay connected and accountable.
So, here's the scoop on me. I have been overweight most of my life with many ups and downs. I lost 60 pounds in college (the wrong way) and managed to keep it off for quite a few years until I had a bad marriage. All the weight came back and then some. About 7 years ago (post divorce) I got serious about losing weight again and 5 years ago I met my second husband. After 3 years of marriage some of the weight has come back but I am determined to win the battle!
Ok here are my stats: I am 5"6' & I am 39 years old. My starting weight was 237, current weight weight is 224, & my short term goal is to get to 180 with a long term goal of 160. I just want to be healthy and feel good.
What else is there to know? I work for a large bank as a Product Manager in Corporate Marketing. I do not have any children but I have chihuahua and a pug that consider me "mommy". My interests include reading, reality TV shows, playing WOW (World of Warcraft), and enjoying a Bombay Sapphire Martini with good friends!
I have been a little bigger than i would like since i hit pueberty so many, many, many years ago..... I lost sixty lbs four years ago and have gained back forty of it....
i joined cc because i figured i'd better stop while i'm still ahead twenty lbs.... and i was hoping this calorie counting thing would work... AND IT HAS BEEN, lost five lbs since joining two weeks ago!!!
Interesting things about me.... i work with kids in foster care... i love my job, my kids, my foster parents and my co-workers, which is so very rare in social work!!! and i have an eight year son.... my little tight end.... GO WARRIORS!!!
I joined CalorieCount several months ago, but have had a hard time staying active with things. Part of that is due to my really busy schedule at work (I am a TAM for a Japanese company). I travel a lot and work a lot of nights, so things can be really hectic.
I have been exercising pretty regularly since around December of last year, but haven't noticed a lot of weight loss (though I have noticed that I have gained a lot of strength and muscle).
Back in June while I was at the gym, I blacked out and ended up on the floor. I figured I was just tired and rested for a couple of days and went back to the gym and did the same thing (though this time I was able to catch it before completely blacking out). After a couple of months of visiting all kinds of doctors, they all decided that it was related to my weight and stress and told me that if I didn't start making changes in my life (drop weight, lower cholesterol, cut down on stress, etc.) that I would end up having a heart attack soon. So that has been my wakeup call.
I have been trying since then to follow my doctors advice and eat 9 servings of fruit and vegetables, cut down on the meat and sugar and completely cut fast food out of my diet. I have also cut out my diet soda and started tracking my calories and food intake on calorie count. Over the last couple of weeks I have lost about 9 pounds and have felt a lot better.
Currently I am 5'10" and 240 pounds. I have a classic case of the endomorphic body type. My goal is to get down to 200lbs, and then we will see from there.
First I have a long history of losing and gaining but two years ago I decided I didn't like where I was health and weight wise. I am 5'1, 42 years old and weighed 235lbs. I was uncomfortable, miserable and just very unhealthy.
I am currently 151lbs and feel so much better about myself and what I have accomplised, I work out usually 6 days a week and have been very dedicated since joining CC in April, recently I hit a real snag and went on a binge for two weeks, didn't work out ate donuts (like 5 in one day) and just felt awful. I realized (maybe already knew) I am an emotional eatter.
I am the mother of 6, 3 Grandchldren a husband with MS and pretty much confined to a wheel chair. I work two jobs, pretty much both full time.
I am hoping that I can get motivation from some of you, I have not beaten myself up for my lapse but would really not like to see it happen again. My goal at this time is 135. 16lbs and in all honesty it feels like it is attached with superglue and incased in Kevlar so anything motivational will help.
Thanks and Great sucess to all!!!!!
1. History with weight loss: In 2003 I reached my goal of 149 but very shortly after that I gained the weight back. I was working out 5-6 days a week and couldn't keep up the schedule!
2. History with Calorie Count: I joined July 25th, 2008
3. Reason for joining this group: I have about 20 pounds to go and I want support through the tough times.
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:
I am a Lab Tech, right now. I have ben offered a promotion but can't transfer until we get someone hired for my position and I train them for what I currently do. When I get my promotion I will be a computational medicinal chemist for the biopharmaceutical company in which I am currently employed.
I am married with one son, 8, and two cute and adorable cats that I think my son is allergic to.
I love to watch movies and sit coms. Yoga would be my workout of choice but I have to add aerobics and pilates in there somewhere to burn calories. I HATE running or anything that gets me out of breath. I want to by some weights so I can do some strength training. I need to get those lean muscles on my arms!
I started my diet because I want to have a healthier life style. I don't want to crave fast food and junk food all the time. Since starting my diet I can say that I have not gotten anything out of the snack machine like I did in the past! Those caky treats have an excess of 500 calories a piece and I could eat two a day during work.
I have all my stats in my journals if you are interested. But right now I have to take care of the kid and get him ready for bed.
I hope to hear from a lot of you soon!!
Hi everyone! I've lost and gained weight MANY times! I've always counted calories when I've lost weight. Thing is, I restricted too much and ate only 1200 calories a day. Too little and I was always hungry. so when I got to my goal, I would overeat ALL the time. Therefore, gaining the weight back and then some.
I joined cc in January (I think) and have lost 40 pounds. When I decided to lose weight in October, I lost 20 lbs before finding cc by google. I wanted to find a site to help me. I'm so glad I found cc!!! The support is GREAT!
I want to join this group for the support. It's so nice to have people to talk to when you are having trouble losing, or want to eat when you know you've eaten all your calories already! lol And it's motivating to read about others success in losing the weight they want to be gone for good.
About me---I'm a 43 yr old married mom of 2. They are 21 and 15. A girl and a boy. I'm disabled due to chronic back and leg pain that I struggle with every day. I'm always in pain, but on days that are better I walk 2-3 miles with my cane and I lift weights. Not heavy ones, but they do the trick! lol It takes me an hour to walk 2 miles, and close to 2 hrs to go the 3 miles. I stop and rest thats why it takes so long.
But I am determined to lose this weight no matter how long it takes. I now weigh 172 (my lowest in many years!). I want to weigh 160 and then decide if I want to go to 150, but no lower than that.
Nice to meet you all! Lets lose this weight!!! YAY!!!!
Hi,
I'm 43 and I've struggled with my weight my entire life. The pressure to lose weight started when I was only 8 years old. When I look at pictures of myself at that age now I can see that I wasn't really fat at all...just a slightly overweight child who needed more activity and attention. After the anxiety about weight and obsession with food set in, I really did become fat. I've had so many fat and thin phases I can't even list all of them. I was at my biggest (235 lbs. - I'm 5'9") about 12 years ago when I was married (to my now-ex husband). When our relationship ended I lost over 60 lbs. and looked amazing. I did work out regularly and kept the weight off for about 4 years before slowly beginning to put it back on. I've been in my current relationship for 10 years and we've been through many ups and downs (so has my weight). 5 months ago I found out that my partner had been cheating on me for 5 years (the affair is now over) which totally destroyed me emotionally. I had gone up to 225 at that point and decided to throw myself into working out to deal with the painful feelings (we are also in therapy). I'm down to 194 now (but the inch loss is more impressive, due to the workouts) and joined calorie count after reading that writing down food keeps people motivated to stay on my diet. I'm getting lots of compliments and feeling better about myself. Being healthier and stronger has helped me through the rough times and things are starting to get a lot better in my relationship. And wearing smaller, cuter clothing doesn't hurt either!
Good luck to everyone and god bless!
I started CC August 1st. I also exercise 30min a day using a combo of strengthening exercises, aerobics and stationary bicycling. I work as an administrative assistant so I’m at my desk on the computer most of the day. I had success with CC about ten years ago when I lost 50 lbs in 6 months and hope to repeat the success. When I started the diet I weighed 166 lbs (I’m 5’5”) and have since lost 4 lbs. My goal is 30 to 40lbs by Mid January when I have a trip planned to Honduras.
I just turned 48 and am single. I have a German shepherd named Zoe, and a cat named Caesar. I have a variety of interests including writing, camping, hiking and playing Frisbee with Zoe. I also love traveling and going on short term mission trips every two years to other countries.
My biggest weakness is snacking in the evenings, a horrible habit that I’m hoping to end. Another bad habit is not eating breakfast. I’m not a morning person so I’d rather sleep in than eat. I do take a small box of raisins to work with me occasionally for a mid morning snack-just to tide me over till lunch.
The reason I joined this group is for encouragement and to give moral support. WE CAN DO THIS!!!
Hi, my name is Crystal and I want to lose 40 lbs in 6 months. I am single and have two small dogs. I want to get healthy and lose the weight, as well as start an exercise program. I am looking for ideas on meals and what to eat each day. My problem is I don't eat enough, so I know my metabolism is all messed up. I need to turn that around so I can eat and lose weight.
1. History with weight loss:
I am almost 23/F/5'6'' HW: 215 CW:173 SW:186 GW:136 &nb sp; &nb sp; I started CC July 18th and I have lost 13 lbs.! My heaviest weight was 215 and that was April 24th 2008 the day I gave birth to my daughter! My prepregnancy weight was 194! That was my heaviest weight ever and I don't really know how I let myself go, I had a boyfriend and I guess I got "comfortable" the end of 2006 I weighed about 160 and by August 07' I was 194! I have always been around 150 throughout highschool and college and I looked pretty good not skinny but good, I was muscular because I played softball through highschool and college. After I stopped working out in spring of 05' I started packing on the pounds!
2. History with Calorie Count:
Since I started a month ago I have lost 13 lbs. By eating between 1200-1400 cals a day and working out 5 times a week. I have also lost 5.2 inches all around! 1. History with weight loss: At 19 I was diagnosed with PCOS, i had begun to put on weight and in the space of 6 months i had put on 3 stone. that took me to 203 lbs. By the age of 21 i was 231 lbs. To be perfectly honest i have just accepted my size but on christmas i saw a picture of myself and i was unrecognisable, so i decided to go on a detox and cut out all sugar and especially full fat coke. in 2 weeks i lost a stone. By just doing this i managed to get down to 210lbs. And that seems to be the weight my body is happy with! lol If i do nothing i stay at that weight. 2 Years ago i started weight watchers. I got down to 182lbs. which i felt great at, however i soon slipped off the wagon and my weight crept back to 210lbs.

I've been dieting for three months, and even though I haven't lost any (and have actually gained), I'm still trying!!
1. Okay, so ever since I found out about diets, weight, and calories, I've been unhappy with my appearance. Even though I've never really been overweight, I've just never been happy with my body. I thought that once I was thin, I would be able to love myself. I tired dieting from ages 11-14, and then last fall, a diet finally started working for me. It wasn't something intentional, it was just that I began cutting certain foods out of my diet and simply not eating lunch. I eventually lost almost 30 pounds within 3-4 months, and my mom got worried. She took me in to the doctor, and she confronted me and told me that they were afraid I had an eating disorder. For a few months after they told me, I did the exact opposite of what they wanted me to do. I guess you could say that the rebellious teenager came out and wasn't going to be giving in so easily. But, when I finally decided to get better and give in, I began binging. I gained the weight back as fast as I lost it, and even got up a bit higher. I am now 142lbs. at 5'5.5", and am now trying to lose that weight healthily.
2. I came to CC for support with my ED back in March, and since then, I have gotten much better and have began to use CC for dieting.
3. Having other teens around me that I know are dealing with weight loss, also, is helpful.
4. My name is Hannah, I'm 15, and I'm a sophomore at my high school. I have two younger brothers and an older sister. My interests are reading, writing, studying (yes, I'm a nerd :D), working out, and just hanging around with friends. I don't have a job, but will be getting one within the next year or so. I'm planning on going to college after high school to either become an anesthesiologist or do something with my writing (like become a journalist or something along those lines....).
I think the reason for my lack of weight loss has to do with starvation mode. I stopped my restricting mid-May, but then began my diet June 1st. That only gave me 2-3 weeks to get my body back to "normal". I don't think I gave it enough time, so I'm thinking about soon going on maintenance to get my body back to where it needs to be.... Maybe.
I'll try my hardest to come and check in with this group as often as I can :D
Hi all. I started CC in January at 196 pounds and have lost 30 pounds since and I have 20 more pounds to go to reach my goal of 145.

Cheers,
Tricia

Hi! I've just discovered the groups today... even though I've been on this site for over a year now!
My stats:
24yr, f, 5'4.5"
HW: 170lbs
CW: 148lbs
GW: 125lbs
I started CC last year and lost 25lbs... I stopped checking in regularly and regained 10lbs (yo-yo'd those 10lbs for months). I got my mojo back about 3 weeks ago and have doing well +/- a few bad weekends. My experience over the past year has shown me how important it is to be surrounded by people with similar goals (health, weight-loss) and how motivating others can be--which I think is the greatest part of this site.
I love hearing about other people's successes and challenges... I learn from them and am challenged by them. I look forward to meeting CCers with similar stats and goals as me... misery loves company, as they say... lol, I'm kidding... while this journey has been hard, I would never call it miserable :)
Hi Everyone!! My name is Tiffany, im 27, married, mother of a 21 month old daughter. Ive struggled with my weight ever since I could remember. I am the youngest of 4 girls, all my sisters were always the beautyqueen shape and size and I always got the comment, "your have such a pretty face!" What about the rest of me people?? But, about 3 years ago, I hit 285 and nearly lost my mind. I went on a strict diet and excersize routine and lost 85 pounds the wrong way. Needless to say, Ive gained back a little of that with the pregnancy of my daughter but am working diligently to get it all back off and then some. Im currently 217 and I want to be 175. I like my curves!
I dont have any history with CC really, I joined only about a week ago but I am truly loving the supportive emails and Im loving reading everyones stories that are just like mine. Feels nice to not be so alone on this journey. There are too many out there that don't struggle with weight and just dont understand.
Im joining this group for support and reinforcement on my bad days. I look forward to signing on here and seeing the progress everyone is making and having the encouragement of all of you!
What type of food should not be eaten?
Calorie Count does not prescribe a particular diet or tell people to avoid particular foods. We only ask that you eat a balanced diet... Read more
