I'll make the first post!

Reason for joining the group - I LOVE SEATTLE!!!  Plus, I live here ;-)

Originally from the suburbs of Portland, I went to college in Seattle, and after 2 years back in Portland, I'm back in Seattle!  Actually, I live in Kirkland.

My history - there's a bunch in my profile, but the short of it is... I've been a CC member since Feb 7, 2006, I've lost about 20lbs since I started, but am currently only 12-15 below my starting point, and working myself back down.

Interesting details about me - I'm an electrical engineer, a bicyclist with a brand new bike, and a musician.  I love cooking, wheel ceramics, and good times with friends.

Look forward to getting to know you!

i've never done this before, so please bear with me!!! i'm have been trying to lose 10-15 for the last 2 years. 4 years ago i went thru divorce and  after all was said and done, i was at a weight i haven't seen in a long time, 120,  in the meantime it has all come back and 5 more. i've been working out, mostly running and part of my goal is to become a law enforcement officer, alas the 'handle', so i have great ambition, but i get bored waiting for results. i haven't been to the gym in awhile, and am trying to find the time

i have recently given up wine and beer, yes that was hard, but i truly believe they contribute to part of my gain!!! per the food log, my diet is a grade A, so that is great, but i just don't seem to lose the pounds!!!

any pointers is greatly appreciated and support of course as well; and i will offer the same in return!! i would so love to be at 120-125 again!!!

i too like to be outside, gardening, hiking, rafting. i'm in monroe 1/2 time and north bend 1/2 time due to split households that are trying to combine. just got married on the Grand Canyon in June!!!

Hello, VeeVee Mosher here.  You may call “VeeVee” or “Vee”.  I usually close postings with just “V”.

I have been a CC member since June 7, 2006; stumbling onto the site as most others did, looking for the nutritional breakdown for a certain food (don’t remember which one).  I have been here ever since and have so many true loyal friends of all ages, who have helped me survive some pretty serious stuff, not always diet related.  They are true friends and I am truly blessed to have them.

I am excited to find a group made up of people in the same area I am.  Looking to meeting all of you and maybe even getting together a in person meet up.

I have 4 adult children (38, 39, 42 & 44).  Those adult children have given us 12 grandchildren ranging in age from 1 year old to 23 years old.  There are two children totally unrelated who have “adopted” us as their grandparents.  Our oldest daughter is a therapeutic foster parent, so our total grandkid count changes from time to time.  Currently, the total grandkid count is 16.

I have been married to Paul (wonderful, wonderful man!) going on 43 years.  I only weighed 90# when we got married.  No matter how much I gain, he always tells me how beautiful I am every day.  I truly am blessed with him!

I am Accounts Receivable Coordinator for a small telecommunications company in Seattle, Washington.  Since I live approximately 50 miles NE of Seattle, I am on the freeway 3 or more hours a day (lots of fun! NOT) and spend 9+ hours a day in my office.  That does not leave much time at home or for going to the gym.  Saturdays are spent running errands with my husband and Sundays with church.  And, of course, I have to have time to spend (translation: spoil) with my grandchildren.  I am looking into gym membership with a pool and am signed up for swim lessons in November.  I am on the waiting list for lessons sooner.  I did learn to swim a bit a couple years ago, but I want to get better; I am sure as the weight continues to come off, I will get stronger and better.

There is a lot more about me for you to read in my profile, if you are interested.

I am looking forward to this group and getting to know/support others going through this journey of getting healthy and fit.

I pray you are all happy, blessed, loved and healthy.

Have a God life,

V

Hi, I'm Tricia . . . I just moved to the Seattle area last December, so it would be great to meet fellow CCers in the area.

I have been a member of CC since January and I've lost 30 pounds so far and I have 20 more to go for my goal weight of 145.

I don't have a lot of time right now . . . so I invite you to check out my profile page.

Thanks!

Hi everyone!

This group is growing every day. I'm brand new to CC and enjoy using the daily logs and viewing the analysis.

I'm an emotional eater (shouldn't everything be celebrated with food?) and PLANNING is a must. I have been fighting middle age pound creep for the last fifteen years (I'm 55.) My goal is to get down to a healthy BMI. I have been working at it in 5 lb increments and have kept off the first 15 lbs. Both my husband and I have started making lifestyle choices. We have decided to live to a healthy and active 100 years old so we had better take care of our bodies!

I actually live on Vancouver Island and I suppose I could have started a local group but you guys looked interesting and close so I hope you let me stay! We can complain about the rain together.

We lead a home church, have a Christian ministry to marriages, have just taken up lawn bowling and I love to quilt. We have two grown up kids, but no spouses or grandkids in sight yet.

Good luck to everyone and God bless. Laughing

Hi there,

I'm a newish Seattle transplant.  I moved up here from Portland in September, but I'm originally from DC.  I've been on CC since January, and I've lost about 45 pounds.  I'm slowly working my way from 276 to 126, so I still have a little more than 100 pounds to go.  I'm a grad student right now, and I work part time at a library.  I don't have a car, so I've been getting to know Seattle on foot, which has been great exercise and a lot of fun.

Hi Everyone,

I live south of Seattle near Orting. and have been on diets all my life. I currently want to lose out 50 lbs., most of which I gained this year! CC has allowed me to stop gaining weight and actualy lose a few pounds.

I also stated (yuck) working out and that has helped a lot. Now I'm going to try to make my own meals using recipes from About.com and try to do once a month healthy low cal cooking.

Thanks,

Denice

Hello, I'm from north of Seattle, Lake Stevens area and I have been a member of cc since july so I'm fairly new, I have lost 2.8 pounds since I started and am aiming to lose about 12 more. I have been dieting for the past two years and since I joined up with cc I have begun exercising and practicing portion control. My high weight was 155 and I joined cc at 130, currently 127.2, yay, I am 5'3". I wanted to join this group because It'll be nice to have a roup of people from the same area with the same rainy weather so we all know, it's kinda hard to get outside to exercise when it's raining cats & dogs. Makes you just want to lay around. I am a quality inspector in Bothel and my work has a gym so I try and go everyday at lunch.

Howdy, :) I am from just north of seattle (snohomish area) I have lived up here for the last 9 years but am originaly from vancouver wa area so am used to the weather. I started CC a year ago this october and have lost 34lbs and have another 15-20ish more to lose. I took the summer off and just maintained and am just getting ready to get on track again. I am a stay at home mom of two and some of my hobbies are geocacheing and I am also a member of the SCA (medieval re enactment) so alot of camping and hikeing and I fight in full armour (about 50lbs or more).

Hi

I live in Mountlake Terrace and have been in the same house for 32 years.

I am on a budget and decided I would try something free before I put my money into any program that costs.  After my hubby died, married 38 years, I have been pushing myself to do something about the weight.  I went to the doctor since I turned 60 in May and I am borderline for lots of things.  I am healthy but decided before the numbers start climbing more that I had better try again.  I have been on diets all my life.

My hubby and I used to walk all the time but it has been hard to get motivated again.  I feel like since he was taken away from me that I had nothing left but comfort food.  I am blessed with 5 grandchildren and 3 children in the area.  I want to stay healthy for them also.

I know if I lose just 15-20 lbs I would really have more motivation to stay on a good diet.

I am off to a good start but hopefully will get the exercising going too.

Hi Everyone!

I recently moved to Seattle from Los Angeles, and I figured now would be the perfect time to turn over my new healthy eating-losing weight leaf! Atlhough I have not quite turned it over yet.

I joined this site about a month ago, so I'm still learning all kinds of things. And hooray for a Seattle group-local support is always good! So far I've lost 2 pounds, but I'm pretty sure that those are back. I have trouble with weekends (as in I kind of let loose a bit too much).

Anyway, just wanted to drop a line! =)

HI -

My main problem I see is that I hang with women who are overweight also and love to eat.  I need to refocus or get them to walk or do other things besides drink, eat and be merry!  But you have to be careful about that too so you  don't look like you are showing them up by sticking to the healthy eating.

I don't like to tell people I am on a diet but just changing my eating habits for the better.  Have you ever noticed when you are being good about portion control, how much your friends or etc eat!!  That helps me also.

That is a tough one kklee.  I've found that my friends on cc help a lot with that, I can downplay the fact that I am dieting when I am around people who aren't, but I still have people online I can talk to about it.

Hi, everyone! I've lived in WA all my life. I love it here.

I've been overweight since childhood, but I just recently decided to do something about it. So far I've lost almost 30 lbs. I'm trying to reach my goal of 150 by Norwescon. I'm also trying to get in shape so I can eventually run the 6 miles to school (right now I'm focusing on being able to walk that far, and back).

Hi All!

I am new to Seattle and joined the group with the outside hope of finding somebody to hook up with for walks who is in a similar position. I am also new to calorie count. I have usually been healthy/fit with some extra padding. I am an academic scientist taking a few years off with my young son. I am living in Redmond, WA.

Hi.  I'm originally from So Cal and moved to Washington about three years ago.  I live and work in the South Sound area.  I started dieting when I hit 152 at the beginning of this year.  I'm pretty petite so for me this meant all of my clothes were uncomfortably tight and I got winded everytime I tried to exert myself a little.  Not to mention all those BMI calculators started telling me I was unhealthy.  Anyway, my hubby and I decided to begin dieting and exercising together.  We like to eat as organic and natural as possible, so we took the principles of the Weight Watchers points system and applied them to our regular foods.  I got one of those little WW point calculators.  Anyway, we started in March and my hubby has lost all the weight he needs to (30 pounds!)  I lost a little more than half of that during the same period.  Unfortunately, because he doesn't have to lose anymore weight, his priorities changed and I'm on my own.  I still have about 10 pounds to lose.  I really want to stay motivated but it's so easy to make excuses for not making it to the gym or eating extra when we go out.  Also, I'm still not used to the weather here and to be honest, I'm like a cat in the rain so I need a lot of extra incentive to get outdoors come fall and winter.

Hi,

My name is Jennifer and I have used CC for a few years in a way that most people would not think of. I worked at a local hospital for 7 years in the clinical nutrition dept. as a Dietetic Technician Registered( kinda like a diatitian but do not do tube feeding). One of my many jobs was to follow patients on calorie counts, I found this site to be fast and accurate with a wide variety of foods that our hospital did not have calorie counts on. Since then I have started my own weight management business dealing with weight loss, Diebetes, and Celiac Disease. I decided to join and offer my advise, connect with the community, and just be helpful to people who are struggling.

My business is called The Healthier You, I left the hospital atmosphere because I saw a real need in the community for weight loss advise that does not include fad diets or excluding food groups.

I have 4 kids and  a wonderful husband, and totally understand how busy our lives can be to include counting calories and exercising.

Jennifer

Hi - I joined a couple winters ago to log my I's and O's (intake/output) to help me trim up. I fall back on calorie counting when I'm getting a little chunkier. I also use the analysis to guestimate my fiber intake and keep track of what's going down the hole ;). I use the journal to bitch about food woes and my job, and the forums sometimes to keep me on track.

Hi All,

My name is Kevin,  I have lived out here for about 4 years now, I am 30 and recently divorced.  I have found that if I want to get back into the dating game that shedding some weight is imparative.

I have struggled with weight all my life, I managed to live at a healthy weight for only 6 years of my late teen/adult life.  Now I am looking to get back into a shape other than round.

My current living situation doesn't allow me to cook so I am attempting to live a healthy life style on cheap fast food.  I have found that making sensible choices at fast food joints isn't all that bad.

I have taking up walking with the old ladies at work during lunch time but is a lot more fun than I ever thought it would be.

Hope everyone is having a great day.

Hello Everyone,

My name is Genevieve and I have lived in Seattle since 2006. My history with weight loss is one of gradual gain. I have a very poor self-image due to past issues and I wish to get a handle on things before I follow my family down the path to obesity. I am definitely an emotional eater, so I think planning my meals and exercise is going to be key!

Currently I am 155 pounds and I would like to get back to my ideal weight of 135. I have been with CC for two days now and so far am liking the accountability and user-friendly aspects it has.

The main problem that I foresee is that I work in an extremely stressful and hectic environment, the financial industries, and often things are very fly by the seat of your pants. This in conjunction with my renewal in my education is making free time hard to come by. Any suggestions in how to juggle all these at one? Oh, and exercise and be healthy!!!

Talk to you soon and God Bless!

Genevieve
