3. Reason for joining this group:
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:
And now just go ahead and make that first post!
I have had an awful time losing weight. But I have to admit I was never very committed before now. I have been working out for over a year and a half but not losing weight. Now I am more determined than ever and I have really started making changes in my diet.
I have been married a long time and have 2 daughters. We have two dogs, a Chocolate Lab and a Snorkie.
My children have been my focus for almost 29 years. Now I have to make myself a priority. I will always have children in my life because I am a Paraprofessional in an elementary building.
Hey! My name is Chelsea, I'm 19 years old and recently move to Nashville for school. I love reading, writing, shopping, playing soccer and swimming. I love being with my family and friends. I just got into kick boxing because I'm a UFC addict :]
I joined this group because im from Michigan. Calorie Count seriously has to be the best website out there for anyone wanting to lose eight. I lose weight really fast because I'm ALWAYS commited to it. I make my goal lower all the time, but I started out super high so I like talking to people who want to lose weight to change their life and to be healthy.
You really do have to want to do it yourself, not just think you do. It took me years before I got to that point, the bad part is that's just more weight to lose :( I'm doing well with it though! 56.5 from April so far, by just watching my calories and journaling my foods. Journaling does matter!!!
For those interested, I started at 1800 calories a day, then was reduced to 1500 when the weight loss was less than impressive. 1500 worked out fairly well, however my doc said that if I wanted to speed the process to go down to 1200 but don't go below it. I have been at 1200 for over a month now, when I started I wondered if I'd ever be able to stay at 1800! It's amazing how many calories we eat in a day! Without journaling everything, and I do mean EVERYTHING you'll never realize it!

Hi everyone. My name is Erin and I'm 31. I live in Warren, just a couple of miles from Detroit. I just got engaged and my boyfriend is getting his stuff moved in so no longer will it just be me and my two kitty cats, Celine and Maggie.
I've always been a heavier gal until a few years ago. I was married but then went through a divorce and of course the "divorce diet". I was down to 135 which I was so happy with. I met my current beau, went to school and work full time and my weight skyrocketed to it's current 165.
Anyway, for our wedding or honeymoon, we're thinking of going to the carribean and I want to wear my tankini again. So, here I am trying to do all of the right things to make it happen. Besides, this is something that needed to happen anyway for health and energy reasons. I look forward to chatting with everyone and I will gladly offer you all my support and advice when I can. Toodles.
It goes on fast, you just don't realize it. It sure is more difficult to take it off that's for sure! I plan to do what I'm doing, for life. I may increase the calorie intake when I reach my goal, but will still journal and keep track of it all. Without doing so, it's to easy to forget, or start eating a little more at a time, or in my case, eating foods that just weren't good for me, but I thought they were. Welcome to the group!
Hi, everyone! My name is Nikki and I turned 36 years old last month. I live in Ypsilanti with my boyfriend of two years. My biggest interests are photography, drawing, writing, bowling and walking.
At my heaviest, I was 164 lbs, but I managed to lose 24 lbs on the South Beach Diet. I've since gained ten of those pounds back and no matter what I do, I can't seem to lose them. I just joined a Weight Watchers program through my work and I had my first meeting yesterday. I'm hoping WW and the forums here will help me to find get rid of those "stuck" ten pounds.
Thanks to everyone for welcoming me here! I'm new to Calorie Count and I'm excited to find out about all the features. It seems like there are so many helpful ones! :)
I had pretty good success with WW, however after I lost 55 pounds or so, it seemed to drop off. I lost quite well with it though, though they say women have a harder time losing it. Just stay dedicated, and it can happen. If you're not truly dedicated to doing it, you never will. The hardest part for me was getting over the mentality we all have, to get the most bang for your buck. If I'm going to eat 100 calories, I'm going to get every drop or crumb! LOL Even if I started feeling full, clean your plate! Things we've been trained all our lives to do. You can do it, welcome to the group!
Hello
Here is my story..
I was always a little heavy but after two kids and then a divorce I found myself the heaviest I had ever been. About two years ago now a couple of co-workers and I decided to have a little contest inspired by the Biggest Loser tv show. That's when I found what was then calorie-count.com. I was very disciplined and I really started dropping weight quickly. It was very exciting! I loved how my clothes started to look and me and I even had to go shopping to buy clothes that fit after a few months. In total I lost over 40 lbs in approx a year. I won that bet!
Then I took my new found discipline and healthy motivation and finally quit smoking after 20 years!! I did it and am very proud and glad that I did. However, I was so happy with myself that I started to let the little things go. I started treating myself a little too often with a lot more food. On top of that I guess my metabolism went down a bit from age, severe calorie restriction and not having the little boost from nicotine. I have gained back 15 to 20 lbs.
This time I am determined to really change my habits for life and not just for a smaller pants size. I am going to try and make exersize a daily goal-habit-to do list item, and focus more on that than only counting the calories. I know I still have to count the calories too - it's simple math, you can't loose weight without burning more than you take in. I want to focus more on being able to burn it off and keep it off for good.
I am 37 and I live in Walled Lake with my two young sons. I enjoy spending time with my boys and my boyfriend, reading, television, and walking.
Glad to see you're determined to make it happen! You have to be in order to make it work, that's for sure! Welcome to the forum.

Hello I'm Ms. S and I stay in Detroit. I like this website and I actually just came back. I have a dog (Tres -- that's my baby!).
Currently I'm in fitness bootcamp in Redford and it's so fun. If you would like some more details, I would be happy to provide you with them. You have a group of people all working for the same goal....TO BETTER THEIR HEALTH.
Do this group have like a meeting somewhere, where we all could work out together? That would be fun!!!! (Please NO crazy people) LOL!
The group was actually just started not long ago, so there's not really much here. If you know of anything you'd like to see here, let us know! I put some fields up I thought might get some conversations going, but couldn't think of anything else to add. As people find out about it, it'll become more active.
There's no meetings, that does sound like a cool idea, though I don't know how much working out I could do LOL Then again you said no crazy people, so you're already taking the fun out of it! LOL
I guess I stay home LOL Welcome to the group.
Hi everyone!
I'm 33 years old and live in Harrison Township - just recently moved from Dearborn. I'm a singer and a stay at home mom - I have two young sons. I have ALOT of interests so I won't name them, lol.
I have been struggling with my weight most of my life although it didn't get completely out of hand until I married and had kids. I found myself at the heaviest I had ever been or even imagined I could get to after I had my second child. Summer of 2007 I decided to try to lose some of the weight and got down about 30 pounds. I then took a diet hiatus and gained back about 10 of it. I started again in January of this year and since then have lost an additional 48 pounds through exercise (sporadicaly haha) and watching what I eat. I first discovered calorie count back in 2005 and have been logging on and off since then. At the end of July I was struggling with my motivation and not losing anything, but I HAVE managed to do something I've NEVER been able to do and that is keep the weight off even though I'm not losing. For me, that is a huge accompilshment. Starting last week I decided to get back on track and really get the scale moving again. I've been working out regularly and trying to stop the little cheating here and there that I had been doing. I weigh on Friday mornings so I'm hoping to see a nice loss tomorrow! Looking forward to getting to know you guys! :)
Welcome! Glad to see you're going at it again, it sure isn't easy. For years I did the same thing, on and off diets, I tried many of them, while WW was the best as far as results, even that didn't go so well. I don't know if it's due to cheating, loss of will power or what, but financial issues is what caused me to stop all together.
I can say that as of now, I've lost 98 pounds since April I think it was. I'm feeling better, but my knees are really paying for the increased activity. I found that walking with my wife isn't so bad! I never thought I'd be one that would enjoy walking, but I have.
Just hang in there! You've got to really want it for yourself, or it won't happen. It took my health getting really bad, before I said enough is enough, but I never had the will power to do it until then. I just count my calories, I eat 1200 calories a day, and journal, journal journal! Journaling is the key! You can do it!
Hi everyone,
My name is Chrissy Im a sahm mom to 4 children 2 boys 2 girls. I live in Riverview. I have had a weight problem most of my life also. At 22 I lost alot of weight and was healthy then came the marriage and babys. Boy did my weight get out of hand. Last December I said enough is enough and start my new way of eating and lost 48 lbs. During this past summer I kinda fell off the wagon and gained 25 lbs back yikes
I got back on the wagon in sept. and have lost 13 lbs. Im here to stay on the wagon from here on out. I keep telling myself if I hadnt fell off where I would be now so im not going to make that mistake again.
This is my second day on this site so Im still trying to figure things out.
Can not wait to get to know you all.
Hi all! Well, it's nice to see so many members from MI on CC. I have been a member since Sept of 2005 actually. Wow, that is a long time. In the beginning of my being on the site, I lost about 15-20 lbs, in about 2.5 months. I began heavily training for competetive racing (running), and ran two half-marathons in 2006. Last year, in 2007, I ran three 10K races, working on my speed. Since this past winter/spring, I've been at my laziest in terms of working-out and eating healthfully. I don't know what happened. I can't say there was any defining moment as to why laziness set-in. Excuses don't bode well with me, and I firmly believe that when something is important enough to us (no matter what it is), we make the time. I even have a bracelet that reads "make the time" on it, that my old personal trainer gave to me. I got 'fat and happy' with my boyfriend, and lost site of fitness for myself. Don't get me wrong, I still am active enough, but my days of long runs ended months ago. (we bike now, and I like to go for hikes) And as for the eating - that's even worse. Being a woman with a 6'1" man (police officer), you find yourself having as big a meal as HE eats, and clearly at 5'6", I have no reason to eat at much as he does!
Anyhow, sorry for being so long-winded. I loved my confidence when I ate healthfully. I loved myself when I was so physically active. These days, I just 'exist'. I dread finding something to wear every day to work. I won't shop for ANY clothes for myself. And most days I don't like the image that stares back at me in the mirror. I'm not overweight, but I'm not happy in my own skin. I am finally in the mind-set of WANTING to regain my confidence, and am in the mind-set to get myself to lose about 15 pounds. Doesn't sound like a lot, but it's a lot to someone who is so used to being thinner.
I'm about to turn 30 in late Jan. I just recently moved out of the house I own in Westland and rented it out. My boyfriend and I just bought a home together, and we have been painting up a storm. We move in the week of Thanksgiving. We'll be in Van Buren Twp, near Canton. I noticed someone on here lives in Warren. I actually commute to Warren for work! It's about 45 miles one-way. OUCH!
Thanks for listening! Sorry for blabbing!

Hi I'm Megan I'm from Oakland County and I've been up adn down with weight loss, usually either a fad diet or being too busy to eat... which I know is a big no no! But I've had plenty of time in the last few years to at first grow to 220 lbs and thankfully now shrink to 166. I'm getting there. SLOOOWWWLLYY. I found calorie count today and have a myspace dedicated to weightloss and am part of the biggest loser league. I know it sounds obsessive but I lose focus quickly and right now I need all of the support I can find. So with all of these I am holding myself accountable and hope that other people hold me accountable too. Either my friends are thin and don't exercise or they are heavy and don't want to... they say they do but can never commit when I call them up. So I want to say goodbye to the 166 lb me and hello to 125 lb me. The site said 129 lbs but others said 120... so I figure 40 lbs or 41 lbs will be just right. I haven't seen 125 lbs since middle school. I really look forward to hearing everyone's tricks, support and being able to help any chance I get. It is nice to find a network of people who are nearby!~ I'm in another group on here that's 20-50 lb weightloss and they are going to start weighing in on Mondays which I think is a great way to keep in check. Anyhow if anyone has any words of wisdom or just needs a friend I'm here! Good Luck!
xox Megan
Hi I am Richard and am 16 years old turn 17 on May 8, 2009. I currently weight 208 pounds and am 5' 11" I have a medium frame and I am trying to get down to at least 170 pounds if not less.
1. History with weight loss: I have tried before and have been on
and off various diets such as less calories and healthier foods for
about a year now.
2. History with Calorie Count: I am aiming for
1600 calories a day but don't always make that goal. Since I eat the
lunches at school, they are not that healthy even though i get ham and
cheese wraps always.
3. Reason for joining this group: I joined for ideas and tips to loose weight.
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your
family, your pets and your interests: I don't have a job currently but
am looking. I have a mom and dad who are both overweight, mom more than
father. My grandparents are also overweight and I am a only child. We
have one cat and I love to chill and hang out with my 2 best friends.
The 3 of us walked any where from 4 to 12 miles a day over the summer.
Hello everybody, My name is Victoria. I am 22 years old and 270 pounds. I am sick of living this way and I know I need to make some changes. I eat when I get bored, Sometimes it seems like I have nothing else better to do than sit, watch TV, and order a pizza. I keep saying I will diet and than I end up getting distracted with something fried and yummy
. I ended up coming across calorie count when I was looking for some weight loss tips. I am hoping to network and meet other people in the same boat who want to lose weight. Get some support and try to start getting down to my proper weight. Anyway like I said I am 22 years old, I am the Senior Mental Health Technician for an assisted living facility for adults with mental illness, I have a 3 year old Boston Terrier named Duke (Who I feed better than myself lol) And I am a big history buff...I guess thats it![]()
First off I am from Belleville. I am a retired Army vet and since I retired 10 years ago I have gained over 50 lbs and I want it gone! Posted below is from my first Journal entry and is my response to victorials2004. Ah the joys of cut and paste
. Later
I found this site trying to find calorie count for some foods. I am about 70 lbs over right now, but feel I can get by on losing 45. I am 47, 5ft 7 in and 235 lbs. As my grandmother would say "Short fat and squatty all a** and no body"
I try to tell people all the time that I was in shape (rounds a shape right?) and I am tired of getting short of breath to quick. I am using this site and fatsecret.com to help me track my progress an hopefully keep me motivated.

1. History with weight loss:
I've had a weight problem since my dads death in 1996. From that point on I just kept gaining weight. I just hit my heaviest that I've ever been about 6 weeks ago. I started my new "eating right" lifestyle at that time. I allow myself 1200 calories a day. Most days I really don't eat much more then 900. I know it's not good for me, but I do it. It's helped me lose 16 pounds in 6 weeks! I usually try to work out atleast 3 times a week. Not always successful, but I try! I can usually drop the weight, but then I go back into old eating habits. I cut pop out of my diet, and I do believe that has helped. I used to drink about 8 pops a day or so... Ahh, I know that's crazy sounding, but it's the truth!
2. History with Calorie Count:
I joined this site when I started my diet. I really like it. It actually keeps me committed to staying on my diet. It's nice to have "groups" you can join as well. Meeting people who are also going through what I'm going through is nice as well.
3. Reason for joining this group:
I am orginally from MI, born and raised. I moved to Scottsdale, Arizona about 2 years ago. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE it here.... But I MISS Michigan so much. The change of seasons, my family, my friends. It is nice to hear people say "pop" and not "soda", that's one thing I refuse to change. My fiance has already converted to being a "soda" drinker!
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:
Interesting? Hmm... IDK! I was born in Ann Arbor, at St. Joes, but lived in Dexter my entire life until the death of my dad. From that point we moved to Pinckney. I honestly hated Pinckney from day one! I never got a long with any of the kids I went to school with. The only thing I liked about Pinckney was the fact I was no longer "the pregnant teenagers sister" no one there knew my sister, better yet no one knew my brother. They really didn't give me a good reputation in Dexter. They were trouble making partiers! I love my family to death. If it wasn't for that "preganant teenager" I wouldn't have the best nephew ever! He's so awesome, he's almost 13, and about 5 inches taller than me! I have 3 nieces and 3 nephews. They mean the world to me. Infact, my whole family does. My two best friends are my sister and my cousin! I miss them incredibly! I am also engaged to a pretty awesome guy! We met when we worked together in A2! We've been together for 6 years! He moved here to AZ in March of 06 and I followed October of 06. We try to visit back home as much as possible, but it's expensive, so that only works out about 2 times a year! He is orginally from Jonesville/Litchfield area (near the Indiana border). I work as accounts receivable at a Hilton resort. It's fun work, but somedays are harder than others. With the enconomy in the situation it is, it's hard to get business. But, we're getting better. Well anywho, if you have any questions, just let me know. Like I said, I'm an open book. All you have to do is ask!
[peace y'all]
How often should you eat during the day?
It is neither necessary to eat every two hours nor to stop eating at 6:00 PM. As long as your calorie intake is less than your output... Read more
