Hey di_p! The bootcamp meets on art hill in forest park. This session, we are going three times a week for 7 weeks. He can also help with our diet plans and weight lifting routines. The cost of the session is usually around $300. Not too bad when you consider the price of a personal trainer. It is a lot of fun! You should join if you are interested.

By the way everybody...could it be any more humid this weekend?!?! I haven't had a good hair day in months!!! ARGH!

I hear ya. I have a wedding to go to today - no clue how to get my hair to behave!

Hey Crystlpace:

Another former cheerleader...my days go way back...to 1978!  I work at desk job and a student at night too.  When I quit smoking in 1987 I gained a lot, about 30 pounds, more than typical exsmokers.   Welcome to STL group.

Where do you go to school?  I am at Lindenwood.

Hi all  :)  New to the group! Here's the lowdown:

1. History with weight loss: I was always a little chubby. I pretty much stayed a size 12/14 from 6th grade up through 11th grade. I've never been athletic. And then, senior year, I started drinking and partying - not much time for food - and got down to about 127 lbs (which at the time was between a 6 and an 8 for me) Then after graduation in 1999, I started dating my (now ex) husband, and went from partying to sitting at home eating pizza and chicken wings in front of the tv 24/7. In 2 years, I gained 60 lbs. Had my daughter in 2004, joined Club Fitness in early 2005 and by mid 2005, I lost 30 of those dreadful lbs, plus the extra baby weight. Then I got divorced and started seeing the love of my life. I did ok with my weight for the first year, but then I went on birth control AND stopped smoking at the same time, and gained all 30 of them back in a 3 month timeframe!! So I'm back where I started. And the past couple of months, since I fell off the CC wagon, I gained another 10-ish lbs, and I'm currently up to 201.

2. History with Calorie Count: I signed up last year. My best friend and I had been working out on my lunch breaks, but then she got a new job and we couldn't work out together anymore. Then it got cold and I had a million excuses not to work out. Stopped getting on here, actually deleted my old profile. Then joined up again, used it for a couple of days and stopped. I really like this site a lot, so I don't know what happened..

3. Reason for joining this group: I thought it would be nice to meet people I have things in common with, besides needing to lose weight. location is a good start! Haa!! :)

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I am 27. I work in telecom (I have what is so lovingly referred to as telecom ass, lol!). I am a mom of a beautiful 4 year old girl, and I joined the PTA and I'm super excited about it. I love to cook. I'm way into music. I would die without music (and my iPod!) I'm a strict vegetarian for a year and a half now, and I love it (but I'm not vegan, it costs too much money to be vegan, and I love cheese, lol). I am into animal rights and animal rescue, but I don't shove it down your throat or anything like that, so don't worry. I am a member of Club Fitness but I never go lately.. I always have fresh clothes at my desk in my gym bag but I never make it there during lunch like I used to.. I work near the K&N location but I prefer to drive the extra distance to the old O'Fallon location because that's where I started back in 2005 and I just feel more comfortable there. My boyfriend and I love to go hiking. We've been on quite a few trails but I don't remember where, lol. We also enjoy hitting the Katy Trail on our bikes when weather permits. I couldn't get my ex husband to go for a walk around our old subdivision much less a hike or a bike ride, so I take advantage of it whenever I can make time. However, I've only been on the Katy twice this year (allergies and temperature, ugghh) and haven't been hiking since last summer. What else.. I am still best friends with my best childhood friend (going on 18 years!) and not only does she have a little boy the same age as my daughter, but she lives 3 blocks down the street! Yippee!! We grew up in a small town and always said we would leave. Now my boyfriend and I are in the process of buying my childhood home from my parents, lol. And our kids will be starting kindergarten at the same school where my best friend and I met. Awwww  :)

I think that's all for now (what a jumbled mess that was, lol)

Hi This is my first time joining a group.  Although I have been trying to keep weight off for a long time I have been unsuccessful this last year and I have tried to get support from some of the other people at work but I seem to be the only one who really wants to be honest and do this for real!

My History with weight loss:  I never had a weight problem until after my 3rd son was born.  With my first two sons the weight just fell off, it probably had more to do with my age than anything else.  After the last one was born I never regained my pre-baby weight (Still to this day have never seen it and he turned 14 this year).  I have been on a few fad diets and have been successful but this year I quit smoking and put on a whopping 45 pounds in 7 months.  I guess I have an addictive personality and traded nicotine for food.  Unfortunately I have returned to smoking, lying to myself that it would help me lose the weight.  THAT NEVER HAPPENS!  I want to lose these 45 pounds so I am back diligently at CC.

My History with Calorie Count:  I have been a member of CC since Feb 06.  I found it accidentally one day when I was trying to find out how many calories were in a recipe I had been thinking about making.  I have been a huge fan ever since and have recruited several other members but this is my first time joining a group.

Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:  I have been married to my best friend for 19 years.  We both are in the Air Force and have been all over the world together.  We have three great boys that are all in High School now and they keep us very busy, I hate football but I am an avid fan every Friday night and only when number 54 is on the field!  We have 2 awesome dogs that think they are people and are great to be around, we take them camping with us every weekend.

I am looking forward to meeting other people in the same boat I am in.  Hope to get some good support and information from this group.

Hi there

I'm Christin.  I live in the Metro East area but used to live in St. Louis on the Hill - Ahmighettis gave me some of the original pounds I lost on here ;) lol.  I started on CC in 2005 when it was still very new.  I kind of miss the classic version for the nostalgia of it I guess.  I lost over 50 lbs and kept it off for over a year and then I got pregnant and now I'm needing to lose the baby weight and get back down to my normal size.

I have two sons ages 9 and six weeks and a wonderful fiance who lives with me.  He of course can eat whatever he wants and is super skinny naturally - so that makes losing these 24 lbs even more challenging lol but he is super supportive and a great dad so I'll forgive his natural skinniness ;)

Nice to "meet" everyone here and if any of you are also in the Metro East area and looking for a support buddy feel free to email me :)

Peace

Christin

Hi! I'm Andrew, born and raised in St. Louis county.

Mini bio: I wasn't always overweight, at least until I was 10. After that, I started piling on the weight. There was all the typical teasing that came with it. At my worst, exiting High school I was at 250 lbs. Getting this night custodial job I have currently knocked a good chunk of that off, down to around to 215 mark.

In early 2007 I found this lovely site. I weighed in at 215. Did very well with the help from here, and got down to 179! I was so proud. But now I'm back! times of nice stress took it's toll and now I was back up to 210 a few weeks ago. I'm back on track now at 203, so I'm doing good :D

I Currently live in North county, well, I've lived here all my 24 years. A 6 minute drive to Lambert airport. How convienient.. although I've only used it twice...

Well, I joined this group cause I thought it was nice to see so many from in/around St. Louis here. Maybe even run into eachother! heh...

I saw that some people from St. Louis tried to meet for lunch last fall but it didn't work out very well.  Is anyone up for trying a group lunch or afternoon walk in Forest Park?  I would be very interested...  Smile

... and I live in North County, too, Andrew.  Glasgow Village to be exact.

Ah, I see. That's more eastern north county, I'm closer to St. Charles.. if the whole 6 minute drive to the airport didn't give that away...Breckenridge Hills. Pretty nifty though :D

I actually grew up in St. Charles City.  I graduated from St. Charles High.  North County has been a big change for me.  I moved here when my fiance and I bought his aunt's house.  It is a nice house and is in a pretty good neighborhood but it is still very different.  I miss the conservative, almost proper, nature of St. Charles County.

I guess that's why it always seems nice to spend a day in St. Charles...

I love living in St. Charles County. I live in an unincorporated area of the county thats rural, but still close to everything i need. I enjoy it here - its quiet and I can see the stars at night because there are no city lights. :)

St. Charles is nice.  I miss it so much sometimes.  I hope that in a few years when we have kids we can move back there.  It is a great place for a family.

Hello Everyone!

I'm new to this group. I just started finding new groupds to join. So here goes.

I started my weight gain when I got pregnant with my first child. At that point I was 140 and a size 7. Now I don't want to get back to that really, but I would like to get to 160.

I started CC in 2005 I believe but didn't get a chance to do much because I ended up having my 2nd child. So technically I rejoined in August 2003. I started around 193 and as of today I am at 177. Not to shabby so far I think. I am just happy I am sticking to it so far. I hope to reach my goal around Christmas time.

I joined this group because I was recently tranfered to downtown st.louis for my job. I am from illinois and had worked in edwardsville but they wanted to move me to a different team so that meant moving to downtown. I work as a paralegal at a firm in one of them huge bank of america buildings. I do like that I have plenty of places to walk to. I have been either walking down around the river and the arch or walking all the way to union station.

I am a single mother of 2 boys. 3 and 10 in 2 weeks. They are certainly a wild couple of kiddos. So I am trying to lose this weight so I can keep up with them. I don't get to do much else other than work and then I have my kids any other time I'm not at work. So I thought coming on here would really help keep me motivated to get that weight off. Okay...enough blabbing for me. Nice to meet you all.

Hi!

History with Calorie Count: I am new to the CC Site.  This week!

History with weight loss: I was overweight as a child, lost weight in high school and maintained through 30's. Mid 30's career, family became priority and I was last on the list - working many long hours, no exercise and junk food.  Moved to Houston TX and ate my way across the city!  Moved back last year and lost 45lbs.  Fell off the wagon over summer gained 10lbs and now getting back on track.

Reason for joining this group: I always do better when I am able to be a part of a support group.

Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:  Work in graphics and currently am a graphic software trainer. Work out of my home, married - no children - 1 dog and a puppy to come in 6 weeks.  I love watercolor painting and pastels. love to read, hike and swim.  Currently am doing my 6th - boot camp and started running.   I am 185lbs and need to drop much much more.

Hate water - ugghhhhh.

Hi!

History with Calorie Count:  I have been a member since July 2008.  I took a hiatus and now I am back and have restarted logging my food and watching my intake as of 6 days ago.

History with weight loss:  I have struggled with my weight all my life.  My parents had always struggled with their weight.  Both of them today are still struggling with their weight.  As children, my brother and I were taught that we were to eat everything on our plate that was given to us, or we had to sit there until it was done.  We were brought up thinking we had to eat whatever was put in front of us.  I took that into my adulthood unfortunately.  I have been on almost ever fad diet out there.  I would do good for a few weeks or a few months, but I always got frustrated and ended up giving up.  The most I lost was 90 pounds, then found out I was pregnant.  I lost weight in my pregnancy, but then gained a whole bunch of weight after my daughter was born.   I always did real good when I concentrated on my weight loss, but I always ended up pregnant with any significant weight loss.  I was always inspired from television shows and was envious.  I never really worked out with my dieting.  The most I would do is walk.  I just was never structured or disciplined enough to make myself work out.  I would purchase videos and promise myself I would do better, but never did.   I am now at my highest weight of 300  pounds.  I am 5'9 and 37 years old.  I really would like to be at a healthy weight.  I know the charts say we are supposed to be between certain weights for our heights, but I wonder, are they really healthy estimates?

Reason for joining group:  I find myself needing support.  Most of the people I know are either already at a healthy weight or not interested in dieting.

Some interesting details about yourself, such as job, your family, pets and interest:  I am a mother of six children.  I  have a 14 year old daughter and five boys ranging in ages from 8-1.  I recently graduated with an Associates Degree in Medical Coding and Billing.  I am not working as of yet.  I chose my family and education over the job.  I can not say that I regret my choice.  I got closer to my kids and actually was able to concentrate on my education and doing good in school.   I desire to look good, have a good job, and have kids that know how to behave in public.  We are working on the behaving in public problem though.

I look forward to being a part of the group and getting the support I so much need.  I guess many people do not feel the frustration until they have walked a mile in the frustration of being overweight.  I look forward to corresponding.

Hi everyone, My name is Patti and I am from Belleville IL. I am 51, divorcing and trying to take care of myself in all the craziness.

I have 3 adult children and 4 3/4 grandchildren. Im a Medical Assistant and work for a Family Practice Group in O'fallon IL.

I have been over weight my whole life, actually being overweight felt normal to me. it was who I was, but after being told I had high blood pressure and after squeezing into a size 22 I decided I had to do something, and I did.  I joined another group simular to this one and with in just a few months I lost 56 lbs and tons of inches..I was in a lose fitting 16.

friends who I hadnt seen in awhile would say to me. " what happend to the rest of you " lol I loved it. I felt there was nothing I couldnt do.

But then after a bad relationship breakup..I consoled myself with Cheezy Chimichunga's and oreo concrets. Its amazing I have only gained back 20 lbs but the inches have almost all come back. and worse I have a closet full of clothes I cant wear.

So here I am starting over trying to get back on the program.  I would love to have a diet partner or possibly an exercise partner. And any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks for reading this

Patti

Hi, I'm Nichole and I don't really have a history of weight loss except that my weight has fluctuated since I was a teenager between 145-165. I now weigh 166 and I think it would be better for my health to lose a little of the weight. This is my first official "diet", so we'll see how it goes. I eat fairly healthy already (love veggies, don't drink soda, don't eat fast food often), but I eat too much and rarely exercise.

I just recently joined CC and I'd like to stick with the program that's been suggested. I figured one way to do that would be to connect with people on here and join a group. So, here I am!

I'm 26 and I'm married with one child from a previous marriage and two stepsons. I love my kids, my husband, and I love to cook. :) (I like Pina coladas and getting caught in the rain... haha)

l am also from Belleville, l dont really have a history of weightloss, l am at my heaviest now of 261 depending on the scale some say 257. l exercise off and on and this time, l am determined to make it a lifestyle.

History with calorie count; l actually found this website by accident if you believe there is such a thing. So l was looking up my bmi/bmr when l was led here, thank God!!.

Reason for joining this group; being in the St louis metro area, l thought it would be wise to be with like minded people.

Some interesting details about me; that is the hard part, anyway, l have recently joined the local Y and trying to stay away from the local bars and restaurants. l have been cooking at home lately and tried my first aqua aerobics class on Monday. l hope l can achieve the same kind of sucess l have read some ppl on this site say they have achieved with the tools here. And maybe make some friends in the process. l am 37 and hopefully by 40 l will be fit and fabulous.

Hey everyone I'm Abby :-)

1. Umm Well, I may only be 17 but my entire life I had always been just a little chubby and it wasn't until just recently that I started losing weight and looking and feeling better. As a kid I ate a lot of junk and never really played sports. My dad's side of the family has a lot of overweight people but I'm trying to be the exception :-)

2. I found Calorie Count just by googling the calories in a certain food and found it extremely useful.

3. I joined this group obviously because I was born and raised in St. Louis and still live here. I hope to meet fellow Calorie Count members :-)

4. Lets see, I'm a senior in high school but recently took the semester off due to some depression issues, but I plan to go back next semester and graduate. I live in Webster Groves with my mom and occasionally with my dad in Crestwood. I have two dogs Puck and Jenny. I'm a musician. I play the piano and sing. www.myspace.com/abbykovac is my music site if you want to listen. I'm also a writer. I am a pilates addict. I have an older brother, Mike, who just recently moved to Florida. My very best friend is Anna who lives up my street and wants to be a nurse. I'm not really sure where my life is headed but I plan on accepting it either way.
