Hello group! I am thrilled to have found this group. I am 50 and have a long history of starving myself to lose weight and then regaining quickly. I am tired of dieting and felt like giving up and just staying fat. But, I want to live a long life and being fat does not give me that gift of life.
So, thought I would go about this slow and steady---a new concept for me. I have already wept as I put down that I wanted to lose my 85# by February 14 and the computer calculator said "sorry, this is humanly impossible"! I loved the realistic view of what I was trying to do. I accept their date of July 14 and feel "lighter" as a result. It feels like I am already being kind to myself. I am relieved.
I hope to make friends here.

Hello! I live close to Columbus and thought I might find someone for accountability on here and that it might be nice to at least be in the area of that person. I need to lose quite a bit of weight.
I gained every time I had another baby, 4 children and 20 years later I still have not taken it off! I walk daily with my daughter which is great but I thought I might get a lot of insight on here from others. This time I have stuck to it pretty good so far but I have a long way to go and know I need support!
I know I have all the time in the world to do this.... and that it is a lifestyle change. (We have tried a lot of new recipees at home in the last few weeks, a lot of which my husband doesn't like but I told him I am only fixing one meal a night so he better get used to it LOL) I am making slow progress but, patients is not one of my virtues.
I want to lose 50 pounds. I lost 50 pounds a couple of years ago and kept 30 off and have lost 20 so far this time around I just still have so far to go.
I enjoy boating, walking, hiking, reading, drawing and my family. I want to be able to enjoy these things even more.I want to be able to continue to ejnoy these things. That is why I am here. ( I don't ever want to have to say again "I don't think I can walk that far" or just get angry at everyone else so they will let me stay behind because I think I will slow them down.
That was hard but I feel better now that I said it!
I hope to meet others here and thanks for listening!

Hello, I live in North Clintonville, and work in Clintonville teaching Microsoft Office skills at a vocational agency. I love my job, but need to lose weight for my health and so I am not tired at the end of the day. I am 42 years old soon to be 43 and weight has snuck up on me over the years and now it is time for me to take control and lose the weight.
If anyone is in my area and would like to get together for evening/weekend walks I'm up for it. It helps keep me motivated when I meet people for a planned activity.
I look forward to giving and receiving support to my fellow CC Columbus group.

Hi. I live in Canal Winchester and am 53 years old. I have lost hundreds of pounds over the years and have been on many, many, many diets. This time, I began losing weight on Dec. 4, 2007 and joined calorie count in March 2008. I had bariatric surgery at Riverside Methodist Hospital last December. What I learned from the surgery is that it doesn't solve your eating problems. I still have to work just as hard to lose and I am still addicted to food although my coping skills are getting much better after 10 months. I can also eat anything that I want to eat, just not as much. So far, I have lost 119 pounds and have about 22 more pounds to go. My goal is to have a BMI that says I am not overweight! I get excited just thinking about it!
If there is anone in the area that wants a walking partner or to start a walking group, let me know. Right now, my walking partner is my Alaskan Malamute but she doesn't talk very much. I do much better exercising when I have to be accountable to someone and have somebody to keep me going.
Hi, I'm vegan and live in Clintonville. I'm looking to loose some weight, but love the idea of a local online support network. I've been working out, but haven't been able to drop weight, and just yesterday I came back to this site, plugged in [what I thought to be] my very healthy day, and I was WAY over! Needless to say, I've found out why I've not been so successful! So, off begins my journey again.
I look forward to getting to know some of you!
Good luck to all!

Hello all,
I joined CC with a friend in late 2007. I was doing really good until Summer. I haven't gained the weight back, but I need to start losing again!
I am in North Columbus. I am very busy (work, school and very activity in my High School Alumni).
I am looking for people in my area to help me with hint and to hold me accountable.
I am 37 soon to be 38, single, work at OSU and live with 2 cats.
Add me....I love to meet new people.
Thanks for reading, Wendy
Hello, Columbusites!
I've always struggled with my weight but didn't really get FAT until eight years ago when I quit working, went through menopause and started taking psychiatric meds. I put on forty pounds, have since lost thirty and over this past year I gradually gained ten back. So I have at least twenty to lose, maybe thirty.
I live between the Short North area and South Campus Gateway (or the University District). It's not the best area, so I don't particularly like to walk regularly around here, at least not by myself. I was walking with my daughter but a week ago I had a setback--I broke my foot! I'm now in a cast and use a walker, so my activity is severely limited. On the other hand, I can't make as many trips to the kitchen so I might lose some weight anyway!
I'm almost 57, female, married, the mother of four grown daughters and grandmother to one grandson. I'm a writer--which, unfortunately is a very sedentary occupation. I love to swim but can't find anywhere to go especially during the winter. I'm also teaching myself German (my husband is from there) and studying feminist issues, history and theory for my writing (I have a blog).
I originally joined Calorie Count in 2006 but haven't done anything with it, mainly because I found it hard to find a group where I got a response. That's why I joined this group: because it's small and I'm hoping to have more contact with other people. I think I need that even more than I need a diet!
Ellen
Missmuffet,
You and I are the closest in age, I think. I, too, have thought about giving up and just staying fat, but--now this is silly--I don't want to be a fat person in my coffin and have everybody remember me that way! Not that I'm dying, but you never know...
What diet are you using now? I'm not using any special diet--just trying to watch what I eat, but I'm not very successful with that. My biggest problem is snacking late at night. And I keep sabotaging myself every few days by going on little binges, so of course I don't lose any weight.
Are you exercising? I don't exercise at all. One of my daughters was just getting me to go walking with her, but then I went and broke my foot and I can't put any weight on it for at least four weeks (maybe less if I'm lucky) and I don't know about exercising with a cast on! Using a walker is good exercise, though!
I, too, hope to make friends here.
Ellen
Well I am new as of today I am 26 years of age. and have always been the cute chubby girl since high school but recently I realized that i have gained about 8 1/2 pounds since i graduated high school. So my 10 year reunion is coming up June 2010 and I want to look better than I did the day I graduated. right now i weigh 235 and my ultimate goal is to weigh 165. What I weighed on graduation day. June 6th 2000. I live west of columbus and love it. I work in columbus and work in a government job that serves the community. I am currently single but have a very good friend that recently moved away. So I fly out from time to time to see him. If you have any questions feel free to ask
Hi Group! I am 31 year new mommy. I've always struggled with weight loss. I finally got to a good goal weight before I got pregnant, and was working out regularly. I love food, and have a hearty appetite, so I always preferred to spurge occassionaly, but burn it off in a work out. Once I became pregnant, I really gave up and thew in the towel completely. Especially in the second trimester. So now I have to take it all off... again! But this will be the most I have ever had to lose, so it's going to be a challenge!
If anyone is interested, I am going to be joining Victory Fitness on the westside. It's alwasy great to have a workout partner! I will be working out in the evenings after my husband gets home. Feel free to drop me a line if you're interested!
Hi Group! I am 24yrs old, living in canal winchester with my husband and cat. I have a 8-5 desk job with an 1hr lunch, weather permitting a walk in the park.
I am 5'2" and about 135lbs. In high school I was 112lbs. I didn't have problems with weight gain in high school, I guess I was fairly active, not much of an appetite and the stresses of life hadn't hit me them!
I would like to go from 135lbs to 120lbs by spring (April or so).
I do hip hop abs at home and the ab lounge on off days. I started taking Hydroxicut Drink Mix with water. It seems to be helping with appetite suppression and energy boost.
I would like to have a workout partner, so feel free to send me a message on here.
Hi everyone !
My name is Cathy and I FINALLY quit smoking after struggling with it for about a year. :)
Along with that milestone came an additional 15 unwanted pounds on top of the ones I already wanted to lose. I joined Calorie Count to help me figure out what I'm doing wrong and why I can't get rid of that weight on my own.
I work 2nd shift which can be a hinderance to my progress. It's very easy to not cook in the morning and then order out at dinnertime :)
I have made some progress already with my weight and I think that's due to me being able to see what I eat and how quickly those calories add up ! ![]()
I my name is kathy, Looking for support in the weight lost area in mylife.
I have no support from my husband so this is going to be a long process for me.
I went to the doctors today and my BP 138/100, it is time to take this seriously. I never stick with anything and need all the motivation I can get.
Hello I'm Jeannie
I just turn 52, My Dr. told me I am pre-diabetic. Oh Boy. He says I can slow down the invetable if I loose my belly fat. I also have high blood pressure and arthritis in my knee which make high impact excerise hard. I am married to a wonderful guy I met on the internet 9 years ago. We have been married for two years. I have 3 children 28,26, and 16, and two grandbabies. Dave has two boys 27, and 26. My oldest daughter works at the Pentagon. My 16 year old daughter is mentally delayed due to seizure disorder/eplipesy and all the meds she takes. So since she can't be left alone and my husbands hours gyms and riding my bike ,I have limited me time.I live about 15 miles South east of Columbus, We moved here from FL Thanks to North West Airlines. I enjoy biking, gardening and spending time with family and friends. I have tried so many diets, my problem is I don't loose weight fast enough for me and give up. I am looking at CC as a change in life style not a diet.
Hello! I found this site by googling calorie counting. I have gained a lot of weight over the years. It started when I got pregnant with my son 10 yrs ago. Then when I wasn't able to have anymore and went through many failed fertility treatments I turned to food. I want to get back to my high school wieght of 130. I just moved to north Clintonville and I'm taking advantage of all the area to walk in( weather permitting) We also got my son a WII for x-mas and I got a FIT for myself. I LOVE it!!! With all the bad weather lately I've been able to work out at home everyday! We are also doing the biggest loser at work and I want to get an advantage on everyone! So far out of 6 weigh in's, Ive won 3 of them!! ( Thanks to the FIT!) If anyone has a wii and doesn't have a fit, I highly recomend it! its fun and you burn calories!!
Hello, I also found this site while searching for calorie counts/nutitional info. My wife wanted me to join weight watchers but I prefer using the web and this site seems to be perfect. I want to lose about 45 pounds total and as a short term goal want to lose 20 by the end of June. I hope to beat this short term goal. After 1 wee I lost 4 lbs so I am goin to eat more to try and slow the process.
I work out ~5 days per week. 25 mins cardio and 20 minutes of weight lifting.
I look forward to reading this forums postings.
Hi Columbus members!
I am new to CalorieCounter. I have been losing and gaining weight all my life but gained the most weight ever in the last 9 years as I went back to school to get my PhD. Well, I was successful in obtaining the PhD but I was also successful (unfortunately) in gaining 94 more pounds in that time period. Now my next great challenge (among all the new career challenges) is to lose this weight. I am 55 years old. I taught in the secondary school system in Ohio for 19 years and am now an aquatic ecologist.
I am trying to keep a 1200 calorie day with at least two times of walking/biking riding per day. Seems I have been taking in on average about 1600 calories but the exercise gets me close to the 1200 calories. I am losing weight but very slowly which is probably a good thing.
Oh, by the way, add 94 pounds to this picture and you got what I look like...ugh!
Well, best to all...let's get 'er done!
Cheers!

Hello,
I’m a Columbus native currently residing on the eastside. A friend who is also a member introduced me to this site. A couple years ago I was involved in a car accident as a result my active lifestyle was greatly reduced for about two years. I’m looking to lose the weight I’ve gained and return to the person I was before the accident.
Just like you I want to lose weight. about 15 pounds. I recently was on a medicine that had a side effect of weight gain. NEVER AGAIN! I gained about 8 pounds in 3 weeks on top of what i did to myself over the winter.
Any tips & suggestions will be valued. My sis-in-law is also dieting. So she likes to send me texts to help. Such as - Step Away From The Food. It actually helps! I think about that when I am reaching for the box of crackers or a cookie.
