I have never been good about my eating habits.  I came from a family of eight kids and if there was food I ate it.  There is very few types of food I don't like.  My favorite food growing up was burnt cookies.  That was my sister's speciality and my other brothers and sisters didn't acquire the taste for them, so there was more for me.  Well over the years more for me didn't work to well.

I was looking for a calorie couting software to try to get things into some type of order.  It seemed I couldn't stop the weight gain.  I couldn't get my excercise, eating or drinking beer (I make my own beer) in balance.  At any point in time I would be doing two out of the three and seldom cut out the beer.

Over the last year I started to notice I was becoming allergic to beer.  Not good, so now I had to concentrate on exercise and eating.

Calories Counter interested me because I am sort of geekish, well some people classified me as being a nerd when I grew up.  Not that being a nerd is anything to brag about but at a recent class reunion one of the most popular girls said, "why did all the nerds turn out so cool?"  I wasn't sure if that was a compliment but me and my fellow nerds are all relatively successful, have nice families, generally enjoy life and are active in our communities.

Back to Calorie Counters, I found that being obsessed with technology to track calories and learn about the right eating habits replaced the obsession with eating.  So for now, I am steadily loosing weight.  I may never return back to my boyish nerd form ever again.  The world doesn't need that, I will just be a thinner father and friend and be around a little longer.

Hello to all Cincinniantians!!!

History with weight loss: i have always been chunky. i have struggled to loose the almost 40lbs i have now and i'm still WAY over my goal weight.

History with Cal. count: i just discovered it. LOVE IT!! it helps me keep track of what i'm doing, and what i should be doing

Reason for joinging this group: not really sure.. kind of spur of the moment.. i need motivation.. bad. i'm hoping i can recieve this as well has help other people get motivated.

I love my kids! they are my joy:) i also like to run. believe it or not chunky here can run! i just did the Komen, ran it.. if anyone was there i'm sure you saw the PINK PIRATE! running around :) that was my mascot! bless his heart. I'm going to start training for the Flying Pig Half marathon next year. .i need to lose a few LB'S to help out the joints

History with weight loss:  not sure when it began...was never thin...but never truly fat until about 10 years ago...lost it, gained it, lost it, gained it...have not lost it yet this time...I am in need of losing 100 pounds...but I will be happy with 65...my short term goal is 12 pounds...that would put me at 229...

History with CC:  I have been a memeber for 2 years, I think...but never used it much...not in the way it was intended...lol...though I have made some good friends...:)  I just have not been able to stick to it, though I have terrific intentions every time...so I am back...I started in earnest yesterday...and I have had 2 good days, so far...

Reason for joining this group:  I love knowing I am not alone...even in the city (suburbs) I live in...I am in a small town...don't know much of anyone because everyone has lived here forever and already knows everyone else...not much to do...glad to connect with others in the wonderful state of Ohio...:)

I have a wonderful husband and 4 children, ages 21, 15, 15, and 12.  I do not, however, get much support from my family.  My husband just doesn't care one way or the other...my kids are teenagers...they don't care about anything...lol...but my mom cares...too much...and does not hesitate to remind me daily about my weight and how it affects my health...and how I will die if I don't do something...so I am a slow learner but finally succeeding in not telling her everything...lol...I like to read...walk...hang out with my dogs...and play on the computer...lol...and I love reality TV...:)

1) Can't remember being "thin".  Heaviest was 278 after having second baby.  Lost 42, gained 13 back after starting new stressful job.  I need to get my crap together again and finsh what I started.

2) Just signed up

3) I need to get my self back on track and to show myself that I can finish this.

4) I am a research scientist.  Work ungodly hours, and love my family with every ounce of my being.  I need to be here for them and this weight sure as hell isn't going to mysteriously disappear overnight.  So here I am. Oh and I cook like crazy.  Some people do crafts, I cook.  Of course I send it to work and now everyone else is gaining weight because they can't control themselves.  Does this mean I am an enabler?

Hey Cincy friends.

1. I've always been chubby, never obese or very overweight - just chubby.

2. I joined cc in May of 07 and it helped me to lose about 40 lbs.  I started at 155 and I now weigh 113.

3. I joined the group to get some help with maintaining and possibly losing a few more pounds. I would love to weigh 105 by my sister's wedding in May of 09.

4. I'm 5'2''   30 years old and exercise all the time to keep the weight off.  I'm a chemist and love my work.  My boyfriend is in Afghanistan right now so I really need the help from others to stay on track.  It's just as hard to maintain as it is to lose.

Hey everyone, I joined the group a while back, but didn't post.  My current weight is 144lbs and I was looking back at my 135lb pictures from last year's cruise is was sad, really sad.  I want that thin waist back.  My history with weight loss has always been with weight watchers.  I was very successful doing that, but I guess I got a little cocky and always gained back. I love weight watchers, but I am a poor college student and can't see spending the $40 a month - NEVER TO LOSE!!!! argghhh.  This site is awesome!  I haven't found one like it yet and enjoy talking to the people on here.  I hope to get back to my 135lbs, maybe smaller, by my graduation date, April 2009.  GOOD LUCK ME!

S'up??? Well...here I am, in a group. I am 48...have coached soccer for 25 years. With my experience training teams, and with two older kids who were
D1 college athletes, I feel I have a pretty good idea of what to do if I want to lose weight and shape up. Now, even though I stay pretty busy, I am finding myself not making the effort. I acknowledge that part of it is a lack of commitment to the task...I like my beer, I give in to poor eating habits often...but at the same time, I want to be a healthy grandpa someday and I would also like to make some progress reducing "man boobs". I guess I need middle ground. My exercise is inconsistent...I would say I am about 20 pounds overweight. The first steps, writing in a blog, which I have never done, and making a plan. The hardest part will be to not give in to old habits. My schedule is not real consistent either, so I often give mysefl permission to eat whatever and whenever if I am working late or in between engagements. I look back at those behaviors as crutches....

1. History with weight loss: I have never really had a weight issue but 5 years ago I found a man that I loved that just happened to enjoy cooking and over the past 5 years I have gained nearly 40 lbs. We got married in Aug. and when I looked at the wedding pictures I thought to myself  you have got to do something. I have been told it's easier to drop the pounds when you are younger so at 32 I am going to try to do this.

2. History with Calori Count:  Jointed to log my foods etc. and get some support.

3.Reason for joining this group: To get support from people who also want to drop the weight.

4. Interesting details about yourself: My job is at a Mortgage firm. Not much going on in the world or loans right now but we will all just pray the economy gets better. I have 1 black cat named Suzie and an awesome hamster named Templeton. I recently got married in North Carolina on the beach. I try to walk at least 2 miles a day 5 times a week.

1. History with weight loss: I hovered around 180-200 pounds for most of the last 10 years, but really need to be around 165. I'm pretty sure I was at 230+ at the end of last year. I looked bad, felt bad, and it started to get in the way of me doing things that I enjoy. So, ...

2. History with Calorie Count: ...I decided to join CC back in February of last year. It was "phase 2" of my weight loss plan. At the beginning of January, I stopped eating after 9PM, and started exercising 3 times per week. I told myself I would do one small thing each month to do better at losing weight. I ended up losing another 35 pounds, dropping from 205 down to 170 or so just before a wedding we went to in June. The great thing about CC+ was...

3. Reason for joining this group: .. that it's a lot easier to be honest and motivated to enter your calories and exercise if you are accountable to others, and it's inspirational to read what others are doing as well. The real reason I keep doing it though is that...

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: ...I love to bike! I do a lot of road biking during the nice months here in Cinci, and the weight was really getting me down. Huffing to the top of the hills, blech. Once I dropped the weight and with all the trainer exercise in the winter, it made biking a TON more enjoyable. I also picked up a mountain bike last summer, which I found I enjoyed a lot.

So, that's me in a nutshell. I work for USBank here in Cincinnati, and we have 4 kids. We're planning a trip to Floriday in February 09, so that's why I targetted February as my goal month.

1. I have been overwieght my entire life. In the past four years I have gained and loss the same 70 pounds over and over. I have been over 300# for 15 years. I have fought and beat cancer and as of today am 2 years cancer free. I am ready and willing to start the weight loss struggle again.

2. I joined calorie count plus over a year ago then tried a food replacement diet that failed so I have come back wanting to learn to eat real food in a healthy way.

3. Looking for local support. I have lived my entire life in Greater Cincinnati

4. I am 50 years old, married mother of four wounderful and very different daughters and the grandmother of 3 month old twin boys. I work as a LTAC RN, 36 hours per weekend and am working on my Masters Degree. I like to read, walking is my favorite exercise, I have just started playing my Wii I got for christmas and really enjoy it. And I am a foodaholic and am powerless to food so I will from today place my self in the hands of my higher power and trust that with God's help I will make this journey one day at a time. Thanks for letting me join this group.

Hi!  My name is Kate.

1)  I have never been overweight until I had my second child one year ago. I gained A LOT of weight during my pregnancy and haven't been able to lose it.  As of right now I need to lose about 50lbs.

2)  I joined Calorie Count almost a year ago.  I stuck to the 1200 calorie daily allowance for 6 weeks and lost about 10lbs.  However, after 6 weeks I "fell of the wagon".  I just rejoined and plan on staying until I lose 50lbs.

3)  I joined, first off, because it was free.  Once I joined I realized how easy and almost "addicting" it was.  I was also seeing results!

4)  I am a 27 year-old stay-at-home mother of two girls (ages 2 1/2 and 15 months).  I have an awesome husband of 5 years.

Hello all. I'm Morgan.

1. I have always flucuated with my weight and now I'm at my heaviest. My husband and I are about to have our 2 year anniversary and it's time to get healthy.

2. I joined this the first time right before my wedding. I hardly used it. Now I started on 1/5 and managed to lose 6 lb's already. I love the way to track calories. I am kind of crazy about it.

3. I joined this group really because my husband and I moved here in June for our jobs. They were great promotions but we left all our friends behind. We haven't really had time to meet people here yet. So, we're both trying to eat right and I thought this would be a great group to join. We love Cincinnati since we've been here!

4. We have two dogs: Sandberg and Dunston. Both beagles. We also have a turtle named Mutumbo. Both of us love food and I love to cook. We are trying to turn that into a more healthy way of life.

Hi!

1.  I've always been a little overweight, but my weight really jumped when I started college.  Not enough will power and too many bad influences (Ben&Jerry's night at the sorority house?) coupled with my workload at school made me gain 30 lbs as an undergrad.  I've gained another 10 since moving to Cinci for grad school, and I'm finally so sick of myself that I'm doing something about it.

I'm not a yo-yo dieter - I just lack commitment.

2.  I joined CC in November but haven't even logged in since then.  I like that it's a community, not just a food journal, and I hope to make good use of the tools it provides.

3.  I'm in Cinci for grad school, and though it's my second year here I still don't know the area very well.  I'll be moving away this summer for my PhD, though.  :-(

4.  While watching the Muppet Show dvds, my boyfriend commented that he sees where I get a lot of my mannerisms from - Miss Piggy.  Hence my username.  I'm also wicked good at Guitar Hero.

well, I sure do miss the excersise from high school sports, but oh well.  I'm graduating from college this spring, and getting married in the fall, and thought i'd try to get some of this college fat off of my body.  I know I won't get back to the 4% body fat that i was as a high school athlete, but maybe at least get myself back under 200 lbs.  My goal is 180lbs.

1.  My history with weight loss (for the past 15 years) is I would go on a diet/exercise program and would stop before seeing any significant results.

2.  History with Calorie Count...just joined two days ago and am hoping this is the site that turns me around!

3.  I wanted to join this group because I am in between Cincy and Dayton.

4.  I have two dogs, Bubba Gump and Boo Radley.  Both are beagles and are a joy to have.  I also have a son (12) and a husband of 19 years...love them all!!

Good luck, Morgan!

I just started reading through the posts after placing mine and had to laugh that we are both beagle moms...welcome to Cincinnati and good luck with your endeavors!!

Hello to all you fabulous people out there working toward a better you!

I am a 28 year old professional tattoo artist, I have no kids, just got engaged.  I weigh 150 most of the time now. I am 5'4 and I have never weighed less than 150 -since I was probably 13.  Although, I have weighed more...I used to be a pretty big girl. I hated to weigh myself so the last number on a scale I saw back then was around 290.  I did not lose this weight quickly. I lost it during about 5 year period, sometimes gaining back some, sometimes quickly losing a bunch like 40lbs when I first started losing weight.  I actually was never trying to lose weight conciously, I love food more than anything and really just was inadvertently exercising more and eating healthier...became vegetarian about 8 years ago, and vegan about 5 years ago.  So I guess that probably makes it obvious i was still weighing a bit as a vegetarian...I loved cheese!.

I am living proof that even really overweight people can lose the weight.  I SERIOUSLY recommend the vegan diet to people trying to lose weight, since most of weight I lost I lost not even caring what I was eating or how much as long as it was vegan. This is really the first time I have actually tried to lose weight which is ironic...just 20 lbs. lol.  How frustrating! It's easy to feel like a failure and want to give up.  That's why I'm trying calorie count and so far I feel pretty good about it.
