I love this site becuase it helps me to not over eat. Right now im dealing with a weight pleateau but 6 more lbs and we got smooth sailing.
hey sactown! Myname is Katie and I'm 23 today (happy birthday to me). I've used CC since the start of 2007. I've lost about 55 pounds so far and would like to go about 20 more pounds. I do triathlons but still have a gut to get rid of. So if you are ever out at the triathlons at Rancho Seco or Discover Park you might see me!
If anyone has good restaurants they like, I'd love to hear about htem. I'm always looking for new places even though I've lived here all my life. I'dl ove to meet some new people!
Hey everybody!
My name is Sara, and I've struggled with my weight since I was in jr. high and through high school and college slowly ate my way up to 235lbs. I joined CC in February and I love it. I've lost 25 since my highest, 17 since I joined CC. My goal is 100lbs (or until I feel healthy).
I'd love to hear about out door exercise, any meet ups, or healthy restaurants in the area.
Welcome Sara!!! You and I both started at the same weight so I'm sure we could help each other out. Soundsl ike you are off to a great start to get to your goal.
I do lots of outdoor exercise b/c of my tri training. I ride on teh American River Bike Trail multiple days a week, actually took a tumble out there last week. I run mostly just in my neighborhood or at the gym. I definitely think it would be fun to maybe try for a get together at some point, maybe for a local 5k or 10k.
Hey everyone. My name's Sunja and I'm 19 years old, about to turn 20 next month.
I'm currently at 170lbs, the most I've ever weighed in my life. My goal is to get down to 115-125lbs. I gained my weight from being in a serious relationship. I got too comfortable and let myself go! You know how that is, right? hehe. My fiance and I are both working on losing a lot of weight now and trying to live healthier lifestyles. We like to bowl at Fireside for exercise.
We live on the border of Fair Oaks and Rancho with our cat, Habibi. I'm trying to drop at least 10 lbs within the next month because we're going to Maui for my birthday! Yikes!
Hi Sunja! Maui? I'm so jealous! At least it's good motivation for you both. I totally understand the whole relationship weight gain thing. I was big all growin gup, finally got to my smallest senior year of hs, then met my b/f after graduation and slowly started to put on weight. 75 pounds later I finally started to lose the weight. When are you guys getting married?
Yup! In less than 20 days I'll be in beautiful Hawai'i! hehe. We're actually trying to move there, but the cost of living is insane. We're planning on getting married after we finish school. We're hoping for February of 2010 for our ceremony, but may be getting our marriage license in February 2009 (our original wedding date).
My name is Sarah, I'm in Elk Grove. I've been yo-yo dieting a bit lately. I've just become a mom to my 3rd (our 5th) child, so I'm having to diet w/ keeping nursing in mind, and not over-doing it...better to exercise than diet, but who's got time to exercise? Not to mention, exercise seems to make me SO hungry, that I often end up over-eating. Now, with all my pregnancies, I gained so little weight during the pregnancy, that I ended up lighter on the other end, but I always gained it back, so I'm trying to avoid that with this baby. I'm 4 pounds short of the lowest weight I'd seen in years... I got down to 195 once, but all through high school I was 150, so for this site to put me at 143, MAY be a stretch! We'll see. I'll be happy, VERY happy, with 150. I'm on spark people, so I thought I'd see what this place is all about, as I have been pretty happy with spark people so far. I wouldn't mind finding someone in Elk Grove for a weight loss partner, that would be SO cool.
Hi Sarah! congrats on your new addition! I came from a family of 5 kids and that is a handful! I can't offer any help w/ the nursing/dieting, but I bet there are groups or forums on that topic.
CC tells me I should be around 140 and that is just comical. I am 180 right now and would be thrilled to be 160. I don't want to be a twig, I want muscles. I think body fat % is way more useful than BMI but I haven't found a good bf calculator yet.
I've heard good things about spark people but we'd still love to have you here!
Hi all. My name is Shay. I saw myself in a picture and decided to count those wonderful calories. I looked so juge. I felt depressed.
I started my weight lost on Sept. 14,2008. I have so far lost 5 pounds. Which has lead me to this site. I wanted to make sure that it wasn't 5 pounds to fast. I now know that my body has rid itself from excess water. My wedding ring firs. it's actually a little loose. (go shay)
Anyway, I started out at 140 and am now at 135. My goal is 120. cc recomends 119.5. I hope to reach 125 by christmas picture time. (end of november)
Hello! I'm Paula and I've lived in Elk Grove for 7 years (from the Bay Area). My info:
History with weight loss: I've been struggling with my weight since my teens. In 2000, I got serious about losing the extra weight for the first time and managed to drop 60 lbs. I felt and looked terrific. Then I got injured and it all came back. After sitting on my rear for a year, I began trying again in January 2005. I've lost 55 lbs. this time around, but have managed to maintain my muscle mass by working out with a personal trainer. It is really hard for me to lose weight. Every pound is a struggle. But, for the first time in my adult life, I'm semi-happy with my body. I still have about 45 lbs. I want to lose. I'm thrilled to have definition and increased strength from lifting weights.
History with Calorie Count: Joined in May 2008. I'm really more of a lurker, only joining in on a few threads.
Reason for joining this group: I'm a bit obsessive (okay a lot), and, as with everything I do, getting healthy and fit is an all or nothing endeavor for me. I'm determined to see the last 45 lbs. gone.
Personal details: I'm 35, married for 14 years (next month) and have a beautiful daughter. My interests are working out, reading, and working in my garden.
I am absolutely determined to reach my goals to be fit and healthy.
welcome shay and paula!!! It sounds like you are both doing really well so far!
I think right around now is when we have to get serious about our choices b/c of all the upcoming holidays. Only 1 month until Halloween!!! That means Halloween candy should be showing up in just a couple weeks. I hate that! If it's not around, I won't eat it. But if it's there, it's hard to resist.
so I got back to my cal counting this week and did pretty well, I thought. I only went down half a pound, though. and that's w/ 2 good weight days at the gym and a soccer game. I was hoping for better results but I guess i need to be patient. I'm taking today and tomorrow off since I have a race on Sun. I should probably get some short workout in tomorrow just so I'm al ittle loose, but I know my body needs some rest. I'm hoping next week will be better!!!
Enjoy what may be our last warm weekend before fall really sets in!!! yay cooler weather!
Hi people
,
I just joined CC a few days ago, when I found the sit as I was looking for a calorie counter. I have always struggled with my weight and about 6 years ago I lost 50 lbs doing the Adkins thing but the results didn't last
. since then i have put it all back on and then some. I decided to change my life and have lost 17 lbs in the last 3 moths now I have a gym membership and I am just trying to get my eating habits under control.
Hi msbfox! 17 pounds in 3 months is awesome! I'm sure you'll be able to maintain consistent weight loss with that gym membership. If you cna get into a routine now, then going in the winter will be easier. I just had to make sure I was in teh habit of going right after work so that I would feel guilty if I didn't go.
Welcome to the group!

Hello everyone! I am joining this group because I live in the Sacramento area. More specifically in Folsom. I hope you are all doing well.
I have been on Calorie Count for about 6 months. I started with it trying to find a way to lose weight aside from surgery. So far I havent found any results yet but thats also cause I keep straying away. Ive decided that its time to be dedicated to being healthy.
I joined the group to participate in discussions that affect us locally (events, meetings, etc). I'd like to be part of something that supports our goals as a whole. I would also like to find a new friend or two that wants to get together and go biking, working out at the gym (I have a 24 hour membership) which could mean swimming, raquetball, basketball, a workout class, working out on weights and machines or any other options available at the gym.
I am not working right now so I have a lot of free time on my hands at the moment. I have a mini schnauzer that gives me reason to walk several times a day. I would also enjoy meeting someone who has a dog that we can take running or to a dog park together.
My goal is to lose about 50 pounds but ultimately Id like to lose about 100 pounds. I plan to do it through healthy diet, excercise, and by staying dedicated.
Thanks!
Uneeqme
Hi uneeqme. well I have a cal fit membership and I don't have a dog lol. So we're striking out. I do go biking quite a bit. But I live in downtown sac so I usually get on teh trail down here and go to hte hatchery at the farthest. Do you ride onthe trail? I don't know how mmuch time I'll be able to ride outdoors anymore now that the rain is coming!
I"m sure that you will be able to start losing the weight if you can get into a routine and keep with it. Losing weight is addicting! Once you get started and find out what works, you will get into a groove. I started at about 235 pounds and have lost 50-55 depending on the day lol. It took me a lot longer than a lot of ppl on this site, but I've done it! As long as you lose it and lose it for good, you will do great.
Soooo...just curious if anyone is around in here? We have a lot of members but noone seems to post! Please come out from lurking! ![]()
Hi! I have been coming to calorie count for a year and a half now. I lost 28 lbs. thanks, in part, to this site! Last year on St. Paddy's day my boss asked me if I was pregnant (which I wasn't) and that's when I decided to drop the extra pounds. I'm down to 116 now and have never felt so great in my entire life!
Now, I enjoy sports and working out and I'm pretty good about what I eat, but I do have a sweet tooth.
I live in Nevada City. I'm 31 years old and a working mother of 3 beautiful girls.
Hello everyone. I just joined CalorieCount 2 weeks ago. I'm just trying to lose 15 pounds and have already lost two. I'm 19 years old and I live in Elk Grove but I work up in Citrus Heights. I am a proud mother of one and am always on the go.
Hi everyone,
My name is Tracey. I live in Grass Valley and I've been using Calorie-count for the past 2 years. I started out at 230 and am now 155. I've always been fat, all my life, I started gaining weight when I was about 8 yrs old and hadn't stopped until I joined. I am now in my 40s and have 2 beautiful grown girls who also have weight issues. I didn't teach them about nutrition, physical fitness and all that you need to know to manage weight cause I didn't know myself. This site has been the catalyst to help me achieve the weightloss, without it I don't think I would have done nearly as well as I have. I've also learned so much about how to manage weight from this site. To those of you just starting out, keep it up, it feels wonderful to be thinner, healthy and strong. I love being able to be active and do things I never imagined I could do. One of the things I still have yet to achieve is see my ideal weight reflected on the scale. According to the BMI calculator, and Ideal weight scale, I should try for 131. I've stalled though, for like the past year, and can't seem to get myself below 150 for any length of time. I workout like crazy, doing Cardio 3 times a week or more, and strength/yoga 2 times a week, but it's the eating that is my problem. I have such a hard time saying no to sugary sweets, cakes, bakery stuff.... I'm a binger. Not extreme, but it seems it just takes one piece to set me on a sugar jag where I eat it alot. This time of year is hell for me and I need motivation and support. I've done this for a few years, and it's getting harder to say no... so, I joined this group to see if I could get some fairly local support and friends. I"m active, I love doing all sorts of things and want to try new stuff. I live in the foothills and it's so beautiful up here and there are so many trails for hiking, biking and even snow sports. Activities abound and I wouldn't mind having some company to take a walk in the woods with, or bike one of the trails.
Well that's who I am, what I need from this group is support and strength to say no to the sweets, to keep my calories within my range of about 1200 to 1500, and hopefully get off the last 25 pounds or so.
Hi all!! My name is Destiny i am 33 yo and I live in Davis (just west of Sac) and of course we all have a story right... haha. Well I am a divorced mother of 3 beautiful kids.
I was thin my entire life, actually almost kind of scary thin until of course the kids came along then it's been an absolute hellish battle with my weight ever since. It's been 10 years since my oldest was born, and though I wouldn't change a single thing about them, I would like to start this journey to get my "school girl" figure back. I am offically the heaviest I've been in my entire life and it's time to change that NOW! I will kiss those 100 pounds goodbye in no time.
I am brand new to Calorie Count and look forward to meeting new people and taking and lending support. I know there is always a time when we all need it.
Instead of dragging the dog (that I don't have out), I drag my brother out on walks, bike rides, and whatever else I can talk him into. :)
I really need a weight loss buddy, someone that I can e-mail and support and that I can feed off of. Someone that doesn't mind venting about diets, and the sabotagers that we live around.
The stats:
33 yo / I'm 6'0" tall / approx. 265 lbs / and aiming for 165.
HELP!!
Best Wishes
Destiny
