And now just go ahead and make that first post!
Thanks for starting the group! I look forward to a growing membership.
1. History with weight loss. Well, I had always been traditionally underweight, but that all changed after my daughter was born. Even though I was at 138 when I got pregnant and only weighed 155 when she was born, I somehow managed to go up to 199 less than a year later (got divorced, other family issues, etc. etc. etc.)
2. History with CC. Tried calorie count a few year ago and got down to 171 in about 6 months, but finished school, moved - lots of changes - and weight loss got pushed to the back burner. I gained back 15 of the almost 30 I had lost. Have been back on CC for about 3 weeks now and have so far lost almost 6 pounds (mostly off of my upper stomach of all places. Getting rid of the muffin top). Goal weight is around 150-155. Size 10 - whatever weight that comes out to be. LOL!
3. Reason for joining this group. Mainly looking for support and comraderie with people in my general area. Possibly a walking/work out buddy.
4. Work in Nashville. Live in Pleasant View (about halfway between Nashville and Clarksville). One daughter - 8 years old going on 18. One cat. 37 years old.
5. Exercise goals. Mostly walking. I have breathing problems (will not quite say I have asthma as one doc says I do and the other says I don't - I just know I can't breathe) and getting outside to walk is tough, but hopefully after I get some weight off and it cools off some, that will help and I'll be able to look at something other than a wall when I walk. Trying to walk 2-3 miles per day. But, I do tend to skip 1 or 2 days/week. Just depends on work schedule and how much sleep I've had the night before and how tired I am.
Look forward to meeting more in the group - even if it's just in cyberspace.
Hey! My name is Chelsea, I'm 19 years old and recently move to the Nashville area. I love reading, writing, shopping, playing soccer and swimming. I love being with my family and friends. I just got into kick boxing because I'm a UFC addict :]
I'm from Michigan. Calorie Count seriously has to be the best website out there for anyone wanting to lose eight. I lose weight really fast because I'm ALWAYS committed to it. I make my goal lower all the time, but I started out super high so I like talking to people who want to lose weight to change their life and to be healthy.
Hello,
1. History with weight loss: I lost about 30 lbs last year, 225 to 195 with intentions of going all the way down to 165. I kind of stalled over the winter and this summer, now I'm wanting to kick into gear again and get down to 165 by the first of the year.
2. History with Calorie Count: Just started using it today, or will this Sunday. I've used SparkPeople in the past though.
3. Reason for joining this group: I live in Nashville on the West side, this is a Nashville group. I like to ride bicycles and hike. I'm trying to run. Thought this would be a good place to find friends to do that or at least talk about local stuff related to fitness and nutrition.
4. Some interesting details about yourself,
such as
your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I'm married, have two boys 10 and 6. One cat, Alex. I have the interests I mentioned above, but also like to backpack and do adventure races about 3-4 times a year.
bikemyride - I work across the street from Richland Park. Was thinking that I may start walking over in the park after the weather cools off a bit. If that sounds like something you may be interested in, let me know. I'm more apt to actually go do it if I have somebody else to do it with. I can't run, though. My knees won't let me. :( That (*&^#(@ McDonald's over there was my worst enemy. It's all their fault. LOL!
Hello.
1. I grew up as a dancer. In college I gained 30 pounds! By the time I graduated I had lost 15. three years after college I lost the other 15. My mom died 3 years ago and I got depressed and have gained 15 pounds over the last 3 years. I want to get healthy before attempting to have a a baby hopefully next year.

Hi, I'm Christy and I live out on the east side of Nashville.
1. History with weight loss: My weight problems began during my first pregnancy 12 years ago. It's been a roller coaster of loosing and gaining ever since.
2. History with Calorie Count: I've never done a Calorie count diet before. This has really opened my eyes to what I've been putting in my body! I've been using Calorie Count since Aug. 5.
3. Reason for joining this group: Hoping to find contacts in my area that can be part of my support system and I of theirs.
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I am 30 (as of last week, lol). I am married, next month will me our 12th anniversary. We have 3 beautiful kids, 11, 9, 3. I work in our family business as I have since I was 13. It's not what I want to do with my life as a whole, but it's stable. We have 2 dogs, 2 aquariums full of fish (oh, so peaceful to watch), and just adopted a frog (the fun never seems to end, lol). I work to much between my job and my family to get to enjoy to many of my "interests", but I do love crafts ... specifically cross-stitch and sewing crafts. I love to bake/cook (which could be one of my weight issues). And I love mind puzzles such as sudoku.
I'm glad to have found this group. Good luck to you all. I'm glad to hear from any of you for support or comments.
Hi my name is Carol, I hope you don't mind me joining I actually live in San Diego, CA. I plan on moving to either Nashville or Chattanooga in a few months. I haven't decided yet and would love your feed back.
1. I wasn't always heavy but continued to gain all my life, food was love for me. I lost 66 lbs about 6 years ago and put 42 back on. I started about 45 days ago and have lost 12 lbs. I weigh 230 now.
2. I started Calorie counter about 10 days ago and I just love how smart it is, it does alot of the thinking for you. I need all the help and good advice I can get.
3. I am hoping to link about with nice people for support and to give support.
4. I love to travel, the computer and my kitty. I am now trying to add some exercise activities to my life.
Hi! I'm Sara. I just moved to Nashville 6 months ago from Cleveland. Ohio. I am working to get back on the diet and exercise wagon since I fell off when I moved. :)
1) History with weight loss: I was always the skinny kid in school. SInce I turned 21, all has gone downhill. I am now 28. I was doing well in Ohio shortly before I moved to Nashville, I maintained what little I had lost for a bit and have started to gain again.
2) History with CC: I have been using CC for almost a year. It really helps me keep track.
3) Reason for joining: Support and to see what everyone else is up to around town. I'm still new here and I want to know what's happening!
4) About me: I moved here in February with my boyfriend and my four-legged daughter, Chloe. (She's a cat) I live in Antioch (Yipe!) and work in Brentwood and am loving Nashville! I'm having fun getting to know the city and love to just chill out and watch a movie or knit. I have joined a gym and am working with a personal trainer once a week to help me reach my goal.
Hello All! I am Stephanie and I live in Portland, TN. I Have live here for about 2 years. I originally moved to TN from California in 1995.
History with weight loss: I always weighed around 120 to 130lbs until about 5 years ago I had non-hodgkins lymphomia and with all the treatment I got up to 155lbs then I got married in 2006 and was having some more health issues from some cancer hormones and gained 34 lbs. I had been to many doctors and they gave me a mixture of pills to help me lose weight and all they did was make me feel like I was going crazy, so I decided to lose weight on my own.
History with CC: I just started CC and I hope to see some changes. I just started some elliptical training and walking due to past treatments I wasn't able to exercise much but it has been getting easier day by day.
About me: I pretty much said it all, I am a mother of 2 boys 18 & 20, I have 2 grand-daughters 3 & 2wks. I am cancer free now and ready to get thin!!!!
Reason I joined this group was to hopefully meet some people in my surrounding area that is going through the same issues I am so we can support each other to help get to our goals!
Hey everyone! I am 32 yrs old and have been trying to loose weight for the past 6 years. I have yo-yoed on every diet know to man, but my fitness instructor suggested this site so I thought "why not, I have tried everything else?" So here I am. I deally I need to loose about 55 pounds. My biggest issue is I am really motivated to start something, but then loose motivation to finish. If I don't see result with in the first few months I get bored and give up. well that is a little about me.
Hey all!!! My name is Marietta and I live South Nashville, near Lenox Village. I was born in KY but have lived in Nashville since age 2, and I will be 30 this weekend. My weight really got out of control (more so than usual) in 2001 with the death of my father, then 2004 with the death of my stepfather, husband going to Iraq, divorce in 2005, etc. Food certainly is a great friend in times of distress. For the last three years I have been a loan officer at a bank but recently got laid off due to the financial market. I am a full time student, hoping to graduate as a nurse next December. I am currently looking for a part time job (20 hours or so in the afternoons), so if you know of anyone that needs some help, let me know!!!
As I said, I am divorced but have an amazing boyfriend, Jason, that I have been with for 3.5 years...we live and own a house together. I don't have any children yet but have an amazing cat named "Kitty" who is my baby. I am totoally into music and play several instruments and am also an artist...I specialize in fantasy/mystical art. You can see my stuff on http://mariettajones.com You can also find me on myspace at http://myspace.com/celticvamp I have been into plus size modeling for several years and love it. I am very outgoing and fun....love to see live music shows and have cocktails.
I joined calorie count back in January with 90 lbs to lose. I have lost 51 lbs and hope to have another 20 gone by Christmas and the last 20 gone by vacation time in late May 09. This site has been a godsend for me. The only thing that sux is that now that I am unemployed, I can't afford to buy clothes that fit me, LOL. I look like I am wearing a sack, but oh well.
I exercise four times a week on my treadmill, very heavy cardio with incline, for about 80 minutes and burn 730 cals. On the other days, I do light weight training at home. I am not into gyms....I always feel like everyone is making fun of the fat girl, haha.
I love to fish and to hike and am looking forward to getting to know you all!
Good luck to everyone!!
Marietta
Hey! My name is Angel. I'm 19 years old. I was born in Nashville, raised in Cheatham County. That is my home, I presently live in Cookeville attending college. I always come back home though. I plan to work with children with cancer (pediatric oncology) after I graduate. I have always been a waitress, and I'm on the lookout for a job right now. I live in an apartment with 2 friends, and we are getting by. I love going out, having girl nights, going to movies, clubs...I love playing intermural sports, mostly volleyball or powderpuff.
My history with weightloss, isn't much of one. I have a history of giving up. I never can get the motivation going or have much support. I am hoping it changes now. I weigh about 184 and I'm tired of it. I really need all the help I can get.
My reason for joining is in hope of getting the help, support, and motivation that I need. Hopefully talking with people that are doing the same thing I am would really help me, and encourage me not to give up.
Hey! My name is Stacy. I'm 24 years old. I live in Fairview, TN on the west side of Nashville!!
1. History with weight loss: My weight has gone up and done over the past 6 years. I have had 3 children. I weighed 112 when I got pregnant with my son in 2002. I weighed 189 after I had my daughter in March of 2008. But I started trying to lose weight in July and I'm already down to 160, so I'm on my way!!
2. History with Calorie Count: I've been a member of Calorie count for 2 years now.
3. Reason for joining this group: I thought it would be nice to talk to other people in my area trying to lose weight! A local support system!!
4. Some interesting details about yourself,
such as
your job, your family, your pets and your interests: As I said I have 3 children (Gavin 5, Haylei 2.5, and Irisa 7 months), I am a stay at home mom, we have a 3 dogs, 4 cats, and 3 ball pythons (our own little zoo!!) I love to go for walks with my family, ride bikes with my son, play soccer with my kids, and do anything outdoors.
Hi.. I am Laurie and I am almost 51. I was a skinny kid until I had kids and I have always been at least thirty pounds over weight. I started a 1200 calorie diet last Sunday and so far I have lost four pounds and I am really happy to have found Calorie Counter. This diet is differant then others because you choose what you want to eat. I joined this group just to listen to other people and get the inspiration I need to continue. I live between Pleasant View and Ashland City. I moved here in 98 after meeting my husband on the internet playing fantasy football. I am from Montana originally. I have three grown kids and two grandkids. I work at Vanderbilt as a nurse tech. (LOVE IT).
Hi,
My name is Jennifer and I am 25. I have lost about 10 lbs, but that was my goal so I guess I did what I came to do. Now I am just trying to maintain what I have obtained with diet and exercise. Calorie counting on this website has been a great reminder and a huge eye opener for me, especially with some of the foods that I used to eat a lot of.
I moved to Nashville from Michigan 2 years ago, in March. I love it. I haven't gotten out much because my life is mainly work, sleep, work out, and then repeating the cycle all over again. I love how there is music everywhere. That was one of the aspects of this city that made me HAVE to choose it. I am kind of shy, especially when I first meet people. Once I have talked to people for a minute or two I warm up to people. Since I have no family or friends here in town, getting out doesn't happen for me much. So if anyone knows of a good place to go, let me know about it and I will try and check it out. One day I would love to go to Grad school or Law school. That is the plan anyway. Hopefully it will happen. I work with HCA Physicians Services right now, doing adminstrative assistant work and research. I like it.
Hi,
My name is Teresa and I live in Murfreesboro, I came across this website by surfing and thought it would be a great way to have a group to work together on this new life style change that I am about to embrace. I grew up a skinny kid and was in the military for awhile and really into sports. I had 2 kids and then stopped smoking and that is when the pounds really started packing on. Now I am close to menopause and the scale seems to stop moving.
My goal is to lose 10 pounds first. Hopefully by March.
I have 2 great kids and a real good Golden. I love to read James Patterson books.
Hi I'm Serena.
1. History with weight loss: I usually pretty fit and trim from eating right and working out on a regular basis. But I gained 52 lbs with my baby who was born in April. I am down to 10 lbs to lose but I want to lose 14 considering I was trying to lose a couple pounds before I got preggo.
2. History with Calorie Count: I just stumbled across the site last week while looking for calories of something I had eaten.
3. Reason for joining this group: I would love to find a work out buddy who lives in the sumner county area.
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I am 32 and have been married for almost 2 years to my wonderful husband, Chris. I have an 8 1/2 month old baby girl, Katie, and an energetic dog lab/rott mix named Daisy.
1. I've always wanted to get committed and dedicated to a weight-loss regimin, but I have never had the will-power or the motivation. I'm hoping this time is different.
2. Newbie
3. To gain local support and see what's working for people in Nashville.
4. I'm a junior at Belmont University and majoring in Social Work. I also love to sing and have auditioned for American Idol twice, Nashville Star, and America's Got Talent. The only one I really wanted was Idol, and this year I made it to round 3 to the executive producers, right before the TV judges. One step away from Hollywood. :( I want this more than weight loss if you can imagine...

Hello, I'm RoB, & Happy to meet you all.
I live East of Nashville, almost Cookeville, in the country, in a house I built myself, with my two dogs. I grew up in Michigan & California, then moved to Tennessee after the military, and then lived around Nashville while attending colleges, David Lipscomb & UT. My pastimes are reading, woodworking, gardening, bicycling and hiking, mostly. Ehh ! Guess I should throw yard saling & Goodwill browsing in there as well, being that I seem to do them a lot.
The reason I've joined the group is to give and receive support and share nutritional information. I really enjoy meeting new people and helping if I'm able.
My particular "weight loss" situation is that I'm 6 ft. tall, medium build and love to eat FOOD !!! But alas, as I've grown older, my metabolism has slowed down where my caloric intake has not and I've gained a few extra pounds. At the moment my BMI, body mass index is around 27, 198 lbs. up from the 24 BMI, 178 lbs I weighed last summer. I can really tell a difference in my hiking endurance with carrying this extra 20 lbs. A 6 mile walk feels like 8 miles. Then I read that actually my "optimum" weight should be about 168 lbs. with a BMI of around 23 ? Whoa! That's 30 lbs. less than I am right now. Imagine! 6 miles would feel like 4 miles.... LOL.... I could handle that. Therefore, this is my goal = 168 lbs.
My method to weight loss last spring, 214 lbs to 178, followed the Dr. Sear's Zone Diet, which balances food as its constituent parts. I am now keeping close track of the carbs, fat, protein & calories, balancing the proportions of each, trying to eat healthy low glycemic indexed foods, while keeping my caloric intake around 1500 per day. I'm also fasting one day a week and drinking 100 oz. of water daily, and have lost 8 lbs. in two weeks, while not doing a lot of exercising, walking, due to the cold weather we are having.
I found the Calorie Count site while searching for particular food information and find the food database really helpful. I started reading different peoples postings and thought, "what a great support tool". So, again, glad to be here and if I can help in any way with information, advice, motivation and an invitation to view our beautiful Tennessee trails with a relaxing, be it "cold" at the moment, walk in the woods, your welcome to come hike with us most Saturdays.
Hi everyone!
I'm originally from Orange County, CA but moved to Nashville about 4 years ago. I really like it here but it was quite a change, haha!
1. History with weight loss:I have gained and lost the same 7 pounds over and over so I'm ready to get them off for good!
2. History with Calorie Count: I've been lurking for awhile but finally got the nerve to join and start meeting some new people.
3. Reason for joining this group: I live in Nashville :)
Looking forward to getting to know you guys!
