1. History with weight loss
I have been obese all my life. I was 212 lbs in the 7th grade and I hit my highest weight of 252.5 lbs when I was 16 years old. I been dieting since I was 10 years old and have done many different things and failed at all of them. I have also always had hormonal problems. I didnt get my period for a whole year and and when I was 15 I got put on birth control pills to regulate it. In search of more answers, I finally went to an endocrinologist about 4 months ago and they diagnosed me as insulin resistant. They told me to cut out starches and eat low carb while taking metformin. This has helped my hormones balance out and it is the only way that I have every steadily lost weight without having a big failure. Now I weigh 221lbs.
2. History with CalorieCount
I joined this site about two years ago but didnt start using it regularly until a couple of months ago. I really only use the forums and log my weight in every few days. I also created a group for overweight college aged kids who have always struggled with weight issues.
3. Reason for joining this group:
Being that I dont actually count calories, the reason I use this site is for the forums and support. I just really like the idea of being apart of a group of people all working together to acheive their goals.
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:
I dont know how interesting I am, but I live in south florida and I am in college majoring in computer science. I also really love videos games and music. I plan on learning how to play guitar, but i need to get a lefty guitar first. I work part time doing inventory control (boring!), but im not really sure what I want to do for a career. My sister has a pet bunny rabbit that I call Foo Foo, even though she named him Marley.
Hey, you know me already. I was in your other group because I always seem to find myself being pulled into your crazy shenannigans.

1. History
I joined your other group, like I previously mentioned. The "Lose 30 lbs. by Christmas" group and because I actually stuck to it pretty strictly I ended up reaching my goal like 6 weeks before the contest was supposed to be over. So then Thanksgiving came and the rest was all a blur. Currently I'm still 3 pounds below what my goal was last year, but losing weight feels pretty good so I want to jump into that again. All I did was cut out bread and sugars and my diet consisted pretty much of just poultry, green veggies, and your run of the mill proteins. I also exercised hard every day, and I lost on average about 3 pounds a week, steadily. Looking back, it was pretty easy, but unfortunately I am poor now so I must be extremely cautious about what I buy, that's why I buy in bulk now, and of course stuff you buy in bulk is going to be jammed with preservatives - The Anti Fat Burner.
2. Honestly, I learned that I wasn't losing weight because I ate too many carbs. No, I'm not one of those Atkins cult people. I just believe that having an affluence of carbs slows down the body's consumption of calories, so therefore by cutting down on the breads and sweets, I found the calories burned vs. calories consumed ratio to fat loss to be a bit more accurate. Seriously, one day I calculated that I burned 4000 calories and consumed 1000 and somehow I ended up gaining a pound. TELL ME there's something not wrong with that.
3. I'm joining this group because you invited me, creep ![]()
4.Interesting stuff, huh? Well, I'm a mailman one day a week and I go to school in another county because it's nice out there. I live at home, occasionally leave the house, and really am not interested in much of anything except for college and my job. Must be my low tolerance to people, or that I've been depressed because ever since Thanksgiving of last year, I took a bit of a sabbatical from my exercise/diet routine that lasted until February 1st, so by letting myself go, I've felt down about myself. Can you blame me? Thing is, I haven't really gained much weight back, but I think it's my overall health and disposition that is suffering.
So hey, let's all be friends k?
Hello All!!!!
I am 38 years old 5'6" and currently 169 pounds. I have recently lost 30 pounds since the end of August. I have lost weight on the scale but all of my clothes still fit (just a little looser is all) and I really can't tell much of a difference. I still have about 30 pounds left to lose-it is a long slow process. I took most of November and all of December off-the holidays etc but only gained back 3 pounds. I just recently started over again.
My goals are to seriously start working out again (not just 2 days a week). I seem to eat and count a lot better when I work out. When I skip a day I tend to eat like crap-this circle I am in is just irritating!!!
I have a really hard time working out when my husband is home. It is just stupid-it is really not him it's just me. I get up get dressed and wait for him to leave then there is just not enough time left so I bag it. I don't know what I can do to change this behavior. When he is out of town I get up and work out every day-sometimes twice a day!!!!! So any suggestions would be soooo helpful. Please Please.
I have joined a few other forums but they all seem to dwindle after a few weeks or months. I hope this lasts because when I know I have to post I seem to do a little better (this week being the exception). I seem to do really good for a few weeks and lose weight then for some reason I stop for a few weeks and have to start over. That is where I am right now-starting over, I haven't worked out for 9 days and have done no counting at all.
So here is my goal this week-WORK OUT-NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!
I hope everyone has a good week and it will be fun getting to know you!!!
Good Luck to all
hello everyone my name is Jim, i will be 31 next week and i have been married for 7 years and have 2 kids Kaitlyn (5) and Jimmy (2). I am 6'5 and I weigh 245..My whole life I have been an athletic guy, but around the time of having kids i got a little on the lazy side and stopped working out...I have been back in the gym for almost 3 months now and found CC almost 1 month ago..I have lost about 15 pounds in the last 3 months of being back in the gym and realized how much i missed working out..although i dont count calories i love this site because the people are really cool and the forums are quite addicting...I dont count calories because when i do i find i cant hit the calories i am supposed to and end up way under eating. My goals are very simple and thats to lose about 25-30 more pounds and keep going in the right direction that i am heading in now...your group sound like it will be a lot of fun and i enjoy the comrodery of the group setting, and I look forward to getting to know all of you....
Hey everyone! I'm Kelly. 25yrs old, 5'10, currently 157 lbs. I am really trying to jump start myself and get back into shape. I was in great shape in high-school when I was riding 3 horses every day and doing barn work to boot. Was at 135 lbs and could beat firefighters at arm wrestling. College happened, had to sell the horse, so on and so forth and gained about 40 lbs.
I managed to get alot of it off before I got married last year at 145 but then the last year has been crazy, didn't go to the gym, blah blah and I'm back up.
My goal this year is to run a marathon. I have wanted to for a while. I am aiming for a comfortable finish at the Disney half marathon next spring followed by full marathons later in the year. Right now I am on week 7 of 9 with a couch to 5k program and will keep plugging once that's done. I am going back to the gym for strength training in between my runs, trying to get my old muscle back regardless of what the scale says.
Recently got an amazing opportunity to be a riding instructor and trainer for a not-for-profit horseback organization that provides lessons and contact with horses for kids that wouldn't otherwise be able to afford it. A couple are disabled, but mostly just really great kids that want to ride. There are 10 horses total, all of whom have been put under my training (YAY!), and 5 of whom need lots of work before they can be used with the kids. We have about 25 kids so far and always growing. This will be another area for exercise for me that takes no motivating. Riding as many horses as I can before the daylight gives!
My husband and I have 2 cats whom I adore. We also recently adopted a puppy who has become my jogging buddy and my motivation to go out every day and be active.
Joined the site for the support network including one of my best friends who is far away, but through this site we can keep tabs on each other and stay accountable to someone.
Looking forward to seeing all of you reach your goals!
Hi! I'm Lila ("lee-laah"), I am 24 years old and live in Santa Cruz, CA.
1. History with weight loss: ~gained 40 lbs in high school, lost 60 lbs in college(not the good way), gained 65 lbs back slowly and when I signed up this January I was back to my all-time high of 162 @5'7".
2. History with Calorie Count: ~found it recently
3. Reason for joining this group: ~I want to reach a BMI of 21.0 and also spend the year renewing my wardrobe, personal style and hair/beauty routine. TOTAL BODY MAKEOVER, anyone? hehe, I guess since I've been heavier again I've been neglecting to shop out of dressing room avoidance and fear. I don't currently see myself as the stylish, expressive girl I once was, and I want to be confidant to shop and wear the beautiful things I feel good in, not hide in my plain, worn-out safe outfits anymore.
4. Some interesting details about yourself,
such as
your job, your family, your pets and your interests: ~I work as a professional dog walker in the mornings and at a restaurant a few nights per week, both jobs I got recently in an effort to be more active and happy. I live with my domestic partner of 6 years and we have two dogs. I adore gardening, cooking, electronic music and reggae.
Hi everyone!

3. Reason for joining this group:I'm going for a whole life make over. I've decided I need to be my own motivation and take my weight and my life in the directions I want to go. I'd love all the motivation I can get :)
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I'm
a recent college grad working in training. I would love a dog, but
can't because my house won't allow pets. I love music, dancing, guilty
pleasure TV and Trojan Football :)

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:
Hi all,
I live in Truckee, Califonia. I've been overweight for the last 15 years and really overweight for the last 5. I'll be 45 next month. I"m 5'2" and when I started using calorie counters I weighed 190. Ugh. I also smoked heavily, drank too much and ate pretty much whatever I felt like. I never put any serious effort into a diet before and have always had a really big appetite. My weight wasn't too terrible until I hit my 40s, then it really ballooned out of control.
I moved from a smoking-allowed residence to a non-smoking one last September. I quit the cigs and the alcohol first; then eliminated fast food. I gradually started cooking more and healthier tho I still ate as much as I wanted. I joined calorie counters on January 28th. I had never counted my calories before and had no idea how quick they added up!!! I'm on 1350 calories per day and have lost almost 5 pounds so far. It is a challenge but I'm getting a little better at planning my meals so I don't feel like I'm starving myself.
I have a black lab (Laddie) and 2 horses (Cinnamon and Buster). I manage a ski shop during the winters and an equestrian center during the summers. I want to get healthy so I can feel and look better and enjoy riding my horses more. I'm sure the horses would appreciate some weight loss. It's embarrassing to have your 1200 lb horse grunt when you climb into the saddle!
I really want to get healthier and stop looking like a blob...I already feel 100% better than I did 4 months ago. Now if I can just rein in the appetite and develope some permanent healthy eating and exercise habbits. That and be able to shop somewhere besides the plus department.
Hi : )
My name is Andrea and I'm from Chicago.
Alright so lets start with the list:
1. The most I've ever weighed was 220lbs and thats was back in 2005, then 2006 lost a couple pounds maybe 10lbs and kept it off. I had no reason to work out cause when I tried I would just give up and eat. So I've grown out of that right before July 2007 when I got married and said, okay thats it, I wanna have good pictures and at least feel good about myself, so my husband and I got a personal trainer and worked with him for about 2 months before the wedding, we both lost a combined weight of 50 lbs. So I went from 209 to 187 and was happy with it. Then marriage happened, just work and being tired and I gained back another 10 lbs, and I'm sitting pretty at 194. So I'm working on it now.
2. I joined today so I'm new!! : )
3. I explained this in another forum, I just liked the title and it fit me well. I have more than just a goal of losing weight so it sounded just right.
4. I am 21 years old and I work full time for an import/export company, (boring), and I have been married since July 21, 2007. And I enjoy every minute of it. I have lots of interests, too many to write about, but I'm a very outgoing and open person, I don't mind sharing ideas and thoughts with anyone. I like to cook, not really eat it, but yes cookin is lots of fun. And I like creating new recipes. I'm fun loving and hopefully you will all enjoy my company!! : )

I have been struggling with my weight since I hit puberty, before I was even a teenager! In school it wasn't a big deal to me, I was always SUPER active in sports, running, etc, just always seemed to carry extra weight on me. Once I was in highschool some of my friends were overweight which let me justify why I didn't have to change. I'm past that feeling now, which is why I'm here. I'm not happy with my body, and I want to be.
I just joined Calorie Count last week, and it's been great. I have made a pact with myself not to lie on the food or activity logs. That way, when I screw up, at the the end of the day I have to look at it, and so can everyone else :)
The reasons I joined this group:
Makeover is what I am doing for myself. There is no reason to go through everyday not being happy with something when it is relatively easy to change. It's not just extra weight that makes me unhappy; I want that flat beautiful stomach so I can wear sexy low-rise jeans, I want my skin to be healthier, I want to be able to take a 3 mile run, and not vomit at the 1/4 mi mark. I just want a more healthy, beautiful person to show on the outside.
Hi everyone!
1. I have been overweight my entire life. I got up to 215 lbs, but am down to 157. I feel great, but still don't look great - I look....better.
2. Just started it about 2 months ago and have lost 13 pounds! I'm very excited and think it works well for me.
3. I need some motivation from others in my position.
4. I have a huge italian family where food is the center of absolutely EVERYTHING WE DO. I need to change my relationship with food. Help!
Jane
Hey everyone!
I'm Katie, I'm 5'11" and am at my highest ever weight of 170lbs.
1. History with weight loss: I've always been very unhappy with my weight, even though I've always had a 'healthy' weight. I grew up around an anorexic sister, and now my little brother is anorexic too. Though I'd never want to be ill like them, I've felt fat because of their tiny frames for years.
2. History with Calorie Count: I've been using the tools off and on for years! Decided to get involved today because I'm technically an adult now and feel I should be taking responsibility for my dissatisfaction with my weight.
3. Reason for joining this group: I am hoping to gain some support and motivation by hearing about others' journeys with weight loss.
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I'm a 19yr old student from England, currently trying to get into medical school, as I want to be a surgeon.
Hi, My name is Kat.
1. History with weight loss:
Unfortunately my weight loss occurs when I'm going through a separation or divorce. My 1st husband never complained about my weight and he supported me when I was down about my appearance for 19 years. I've had two children and it took me a longer to loose the weight after having my 2nd child. I'm happiest when my weight is 127-130 pounds.
My current husband mentioned while we were dating that I had a perfect body for woman having two children and being 43 years old. I gained 10 pounds before we were married and 10 additional pounds 1.5 years after we got married. I can't stand feeling the way I do and my goal is to loose 20 pounds by May 18, 2010.
History with Calorie Count: I joined for the 1st time today.
Reason for joining this group: I don't feel that I'm getting positive support from those closest to me. I joined Peak Fitness with several co-workers but the attendance from others has been slacking off. My husband doesn't understand why I can't work out at home. I'm hoping by joining Calorie Count and participating with the group communications that I will not give up.
Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I'm 45 years old. My son is 21 yrs old & my daughter is 17 yrs old, and my step daughter is 13 yrs old. We have a morky and her name is Mokie. I've been working in the industrial automation field for 19 years. I like helping people and I'm still searching for a passion.
