Hi Monique!

Congratuations on your 3rd baby! I have 2 children and know how hard it can be to take off the baby pounds. I notice you work out but have trouble monitoring what you eat. I'm just the opposite, I eat healthy but have not been consistant in exercising. I bet if we worked together, we can reach our goals! Again, glad you're here and I look forward to getting to know you.

Amanda

1. I've been overweight for about 9 years now, but never had the determinatioin and discipline needed to really do something about it. But something's different now, something I can't describe. I really think it's for real this time.

3. I was invited to join the group, and I enjoy the fellowship and help of others

4. I'm a worship minister in Amarillo, TX, married for almost 6 years with two daughters and a son due any day now. I enjoy songwriting and playing guitar and piano.

My name is Christy.  I'm 5'4" and weighed 160 two weeks ago.  I gave birth to my last baby 22 months ago.  So, it's time to get into shape.  In high school, I weighed around 130.  If I gained weight, it would fall off in a week or so.  Well, now that I'm a mommy, it just doesn't work that way anymore.

I joined CC two weeks ago.  I weighed this morning, 153.2.  Yeah!!!  I am glad to be apart of CC because it helps to talk with people who are going through the same weight struggles that I do.  It helps me to be accountable with the weight log.

I can do all things through Christ seems like a great group.  This is only my 1st day on it, so I'm not sure what all is on here.

I'm a 1st grade teacher, mommy of 3,  and I'm married to my best friend.  God has blessed us with a house full of boys.  So, we bought a girl dog, Muffin.   I hope to meet lots of friends on here!!

Christy

Where have I been?  Thank you for sharing about yourselves.  I think I have sent personal messages to you all but if I haven't I want to acknowledge you now.

Big welcome to:

Bill - No need to be shy with us.  We have open arms to welcome and help.  We are all on this journey together!  Glad you are here.

Amanda - We are here to inspire!  Disney will be so fun! What a great goal.  Thanks for being an encourager!  WE can reach our goals if we stay faithful.

Monique- Glad you are here.  We all have our day to day struggles.  For me, I would have given up a long time ago but each day, with each baby step, it gets better.  I like what you said about how can you cannot expect obedience from your family when you lack obedience from God (did I get that right?).  All things come together when we put the Lord first.

Josh - Please keep us updated on the arrival of your new child.  How exciting to have a boy.  Does the rest of your family enjoy music as much as you?  What a blessing it is to lead worship.  When I was able, that was my favorite  ministry involvement.  I love to sing praises to our God!

Christy - Happy you found us.  It looks like you are getting around the forums well.

Hi Norma Jean, thanks for the warm welcome.
A little about me:

  • I've been a yo yo dieter. I've decided never to diet again but instead make a lifelong change.
  • I've been overweight most of my adult life and I'm pretty tired of it. Time for a change!
  • I'm a homemaker but now that my children have grown and all but one has flown the nest, it's time that I started on this new journey. Walking with God has made me realize that I need to take care of this temple in which He abides, hence the reason why I joined this group . . .

I'm looking forward to meeting all of you.

Your new friend,

Maggie

1. I never believed in the calorie method before. The other way I have dieted was to cut out junk food and cut my portions in half. I was also able to walk at least 2 hours at a time as well.

2. I have no history yet with calorie count.

3. To find others to talk to just so I know I'm not alone in this.

4. I had bronchitis in April of 2007. By November 5, 2007, I was under the knife having a difribulator/pacemaker put in my heart. On November 30, 2007, I lost my job as an Assistant Sales Associate for a progressive home builder. I have not been able to find a job again. In May 2008, I was hospitalized for pnuemonia. And just three short weeks ago, I was hospitalized for congested heart failure.

Now to the blessings: Just before I was laid off, I was notified by my college that I was nominated as one of two representatives for the All Delaware Academic Team and had also been nominated for the 2008 New Century Scholar for the state of Delaware. These are based on my GPA. Even though I haven't been able to work, I have been very well supplied by my Lord. My bills may have been late, but HE was always just on time.

I will be graduating Summa **** Laud on May 12, 2009. I plan on continuing my education. I plan on going for a bachelor's degree in counseling (grief/crisis focus). And my goal is for a PhD.

None of this would be even attainable without the Lord. He cleansed my inside, and that's why I want to cleanse the outside. It is His Temple.

That's a great way to put it!!  So to paraphrase - we want our outsides to match our insides - so the world can see what a wonderful good job He did!!

Sorry to hear your having trouble with your heart again.  I will add you to my prayer list for a full recovery. Sometimes the Lord just needs to slow us down to have more time to reflect on Him.    AND congratulations on graduating with honors!  I look forward to your insight.

Hey All!

I just started counting calories on Monday of this week so by the end of tomorrow I hope to have made it a full week.  I've counted calories before with a pad and paper but this is the first time I've done it this way.  It should be interesting.  My sister came to visit me and she had lost 15 pounds.  I asked her how she did it and she told me about the website.

I weight 160 and I.m 5'4".  I want to lose 25 pounds before Christmas.  I've struggled with my weight since I had my 3 kids.  I can always get 10 pounds off, then I start to feel good, I fall off the wagon, gain it back, and start all over again.  Does that sound familiar to anyone? Perseverance and self control are not strong characteristics of  mine.  My husband is a youth pastor and we went on a mission trip with our students recently.  I was miserable and couldn't keep up with the kids very well.  My legs kept swelling and I was tired the whole trip.  I thought, this is ridiculous when I can do something about it!  God convicted me about complaining about something I can control and to be in better shape to serve him and enjoy life.  I definately need His strength becaue I need victory in this area of my life.

Thanks for allowing me to join me in this journey with you!

Wendy

Big welcome to:

Maggie (thethininme) - We look forward to sharing this healthy journey with you.

ariadne2005 - first congratulations on your upcoming graduation!  Wow! and a goal to have a PhD.  Second I am sorry to hear about all your health issues.  I have them too.  I hope you find this group one you can gain strength with and encouragement as you strive for a healthy you!

Wendy (wyoung3) - As you become more and more familiar with the site the tools can be a great asset!  So you are married to a youth pastor - how fun!  I was involved with high school ministries for over 10 years up until I married in 1986.  Such a blessing with the young people.

Hey Wendy!  I can relate!  God convicted me too of the same things -  I learned that the Fruit of the Spirit is singular - "fruit" - and we posses or have been given them all - and some just need to be exercised - for me - self control.   Once I realized that it WAS something that God has given to me through His Holy Spirit - and that it was my own sinful desire to not exercise it - I then found new courage to try. I think of the godly women I admire and can so easily see these things in their life - so for today - I still strive!  (God fingered chocolate as something that gave me problems - so today is day 24 of no chocolate - I even went to baby shower today and had a bowl of kisses right in front of me and was not tempted - and when a piece of chocolate cake was passed my way, I said "no thanks - I've quit"  I am so thankful HIS Fruit today!

Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Hello,

I'm 5'0 and 129lbs.  I am a somewhat recent college graduate (it's been about 2 yrs) and need to lose those extra pounds that I've slowly and consistently gained over the past 5 or 6 years.  My goal is to lose about 15 lbs.  I started calorie counting last October and lost 15 lbs.  While I gained about half of it back when I started dating my boyfriend, I've since been able to lose it.  I decided to join this group because I knew I wanted something to keep me focused and figured others with similar life values would be most inspirational and relatable.  I am 24 years old and work in business development for a non-profit in Southern California.  I would like to tackle this area of my life now that the school/job stuff is stable.

Welcome sg714 !  Hopefully you will find treasures in the site here that will nourish you spiritually as well as physically. I applaud you taking a look at this now while it's still manageable and while you are young.  We welcome any specific questions you may have.

:)  Lorraine

Hi there,  I have never really been real serious about losing weight before as I have always been active in sports and jogging but as the years go by I seem to add a few pounds each year and now I want to reverse that trend and get back closer to my ideal wieight.   I have just joined calorie count in the past couple of days.  I am a Christian and I like the internet and I want to loose weight so this seemed like a great group for me to join.   I am a master electrician although I am currently working in sales rather than in construction.  I have been married about 28 years and we have 2boys and 1 girl,  my daughter is on a full track and field scholarship in the University of Missouri in Columbia and will graduate next month and then plans to continue running professionally.  My oldest son is a carpenter and recently started his own construction business.  My youngest son is currently a sophomore at Kansas State.  Im an Arizona Cardinal football fan,  St Louis Cardinal Baseball fan and Missouri Tiger fan.  My favorites are music, sports, reading and jogging and backyard grilling.

Welcome Bobby! We've have a lot of new guys lately.  I wish you could pass on your love of exercise to me.  I'm hoping one day I will learn to love it!   I want the results from it and I hear there are far more benefits than just keeping in shape.
