Hi:

My name is Bonnie and I am new to posting.  I have been watching CC on and off for a few months.   I made a step to be more positive  and to be more grateful regardless of how image challenged I am.  So I'm grateful to be here and grateful that I have a healthy body.

I am a Christ Follower and am living by 1 Thessalonians 5:18.  This is a revelation that came about today so bear with me.  But I logged my food no matter what I ate and feel good about it.

My past is shadowed with resentment and disgust at my self so I would prefer to not even go there.

I have seen in this group fellow followers of Christ and the love and special bond that is important for community to exist.  I want to be part of a community that has positive and encouraging word.

I am 50 and counting and work as a merchandiser in a brand new drugstore.  I have three children 22,19 and 16.  We own a farm but   My husband also works off farm in animal husbandry,  I like to read, sew and listen to podcasts from "the Meeting House"  on itunes (this is my driving music) haha  I spend hours each day wondering how I'm going to control the dog hair that Winston, our golden retriever, sheds.  I love him. He is a smart dog and can do all kind of tricks and even do them to hand signals but I hate the hair. We own two fish too but they are not very good at doing tricks.   I like the fall and am very glad to have most of the fall work done.  At least we will be warm this winter.  (we burn wood and the wood is in and dry)

Looking forward to meeting people.

Hello everyone!

History with weight loss:
2. History with Calorie Count: my 2nd day as a member
3. Reason for joining this group: for encouragement and freedom from bondage
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: i am a teacher, married for 2 years, 27 yrs old, and my interests include reading the Word, growing more mature in Christ, cooking, writing poetry, exercising, reading about health, and helping others. I've also been going through a great online resource called "the Lord's Table" it's a 60-day course that has been very encouraging and enlightening concerning my bondage to overeating, etc.

May we find His strength and willpower when the enemy tries to deceive us that "more" food is the answer.

 Hi Bonnie,

Welcome to this group.  The verse you quoted and live by is one we should all take of hold of, even on this journey of weight loss.

In everything give thanks, doing this will definitely carry you and the rest of us through until the Lord calls us home.  In giving thanks in everything, we should not allow a small set back to get in the way of our praise.

Because we have so much to be thankful for to allow a bad week or lack of loosing weight take our focus off what really should be our goal in life and that is to serve God.  If we really focus on Him and give thanks for everything, God will help us to do exactly what we need to do as He sees fit.  And even if we do not accomplish or reach "our" goals we are told His Grace is Sufficient.  So with this in mind, we can continue to press forward giving thanks and praises every step of the way for if we really stopped to look or wrote down on a piece of paper all the good in one column and all the bad in another we would find that all the good will out weigh the bad all the time.

Even for the breath we give thanks, even for His angels who has been given charge to watch over us, which is plenty to give thanks for, because, if God were to open up our eyes to see the many evil, demonic spirits floating around us waiting for an opportunity to attack we would be living in fear every day, but those angels are the very ones watching over us (Psalm 91) keeping us safe.

Sorry I have a tendency sometimes to go keep talking, but Welcome to the group and thank you for sharing your verse, which will keep you strong in your new journey.   Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all His righteousness and all you need will be added unto you.  I believe that and give Him praise you should too.

God bless

Mark

Oh...sorry...there are a lot of very caring and wonderful women here as well, that truly love the Lord and have a very caring and loving spirit in Christ for reaching out to others.  They are the ones that keep me encouraged, so keep coming back daily reading the post and sharing and you will find God sent you to this group for a purpose.

Ok.  Now I can say

God bless you :)

Weight has always been a struggle for me. I was a size ten in the eighth grade and now, after my first baby, I am a size sixteen. I have tried many different things. One time I lost a size but then let it go and went right back to where I was.

This is my first time with Calorie Count; we'll see how it goes. So far I like it because I can really eat what I want. I read an article on here that was talking about why some people can eat "anything" and still be thin and the person said that they were just eating; they weren't treating the food like they would never get to eat again. That really hit home. I can already see that helping me out.

I joined this group so that I could have people to talk to. I figured this was a good place. You know...I love Jesus, you love Jesus, and all that. This will give me some poeple to talk to.

Some things about me: I am a new mom. (Yay!) Jericho is five months old now and so cute! I am a teacher, eighth grade English and Lit. I love to read and I sing in my church's band. I hope to meet some cool new people to talk with.

Okey dokey then.  Guess I'd better share some info on myself....

1)  I'm on a really super-fun weight loss roller coaster.  I just love it.  But not really...never had a problem with weight till I had kids...got in the area of my "goal weight" last year using Slim4Life, then Christmas came along....haven't been able to re-gain the willpower I had last year, so I have regained about half of what I lost in the first place.

2)  I saw that a friend had joined CC, and thought it might help me stay on track...it actually has been helping to see the calories right in front of me, and seeing the weight graph helps a bunch, too...

3)  I thought this might be a good place to get some extra encouragement and meet some new people who might be having some of the same struggles I am...I know I need to "let go and let God"; thought this might make that a bit easier!

4)  I have two boys (9 and 12) and a wonderful 2nd husband...between us, we have three cats, one turtle, one dog, and two horses...I work for a veterinary pharmaceutical company and have a bachelor's in Biology...I love to sing...I do not love to exercise....

Welcome to the group akelim.

This is a great place to come for encouragement.  I was also on a weight roller coaster, however the roller coaster never stopped going up.  I was climbing and climbing with the mind to come down but never really did.

I joined CC in April and have lost 82 lbs to date, from 227 to 148.  I did not like to exercise either at all and you know there was no exercise involved in my weight loss.  It was just a matter of what I ate and that was it.

When I entered the foods I used to eat, I was shocked to see the caloric content and the about of fat I was eating, it was no wonder I had gained.

You have come to a great place, where the women in the group are very caring and full of energy who truly love the Lord.  So if I may give a piece of advice first of all you said it right Let go and let God...Seek ye first the kingdom of God and everything you need will be added unto you.  I believe good health is a need don't you?  :)

Then keep coming back and reading the post everyday sometimes more if you can, some may not always be regarding weight loss, but they have to do alot with your spiritual mentality that will give you the strength to do exactly what the entrance to the room says, I can do all things through Christ, which strengthens me, and continue to log in your foods, and you will find it will become easier as time goes by.  And if you have a bad week don't look at it as a disappointment, but as a success because you did not give up.  It is only a lack of trying that we fail.

If there is anything I can do to help or encourage you let me know.  Oh..a little about me, I to am married happily for 26 years and a Pastor and have 3 children with the youngest being 17.   God Bless you in your new journey, you will find it to be an enlightening one.  I did.

1. History with weight loss:   I was a scrawny kid until puberty, then it all went crazy.  I have never been extremely overweight, and never been over 200 lbs.  I am 5'4'' and currently around 190 and would like to be in the 140's.  I'm not trying to be super skinny, just healthier and more active.

2. History with Calorie Count: I joined maybe a year and a half ago and saw results in the beginning, around 15 lbs.  After moving a lot and losing track it came back on, and I was never very connected, just kind of did it on my own.  I would love the accountability because I feel really ashamed in talking about my weight loss.  I eat a lot more healthy than I used to, so my body feels better, but the weight hasn't changed too much.

3. Reason for joining this group: I need motivation from people who share a conviction about the body being a temple, about self-control and a Godly outlook on image.

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:  I am 25, married to a wonderful man of God who is very supportive of my weight loss efforts.  I work as a nanny for a 4 month old boy and I am the oldest of 2.  My sister was a size 22 and has gotten down to being a size 10 by personal training and eating better over 2 years.  I just cant afford the personal training part.  I have a 6 month old German Shepherd which has added much activity to our house.  I plan on doing a lot more biking and walking with her.   As far as activities go, I love photography, hiking, biking, shopping, reading (with hot tea or coffee), movies with my husband, and I do enjoy the gym when I have someone with me, or a great day of motivation.

Hi my name is Tanja.  I am 28 yrs old and 5'4".  My goal weight is 131'ish.  My start weight was 163

Only since the start of April this year did I decide to do something about my weight.  It got to the point to where I had a hard time going up the stairs at my house.

I found this site through a coworker.  I couldn't ever lose weigh on my own until my coworker told me about this site.  Then I started to see results once I started using it.

I stumbled upon this group a few days ago and I thought it was a great place to be.  The last few weeks I have been struggling with weight loss.  I think joining this group will help with my weight loss struggles. Also will help me grow spiritually.

Ive been married a little over a year and Im loving every minute of it.  Im spiritual and trying to get a better relationship with Christ.  I came to Christ about 6 mo ago.

I also work full time as a software engineer at a calling center.  I love my job most days but the past few months have been hard.  Im hoping things will get better.  Its been very stressful at times.

Thanks!

Tanja

Hi, my name is Natalie. I'm 21, will be 22 in a couple months. I'm currently 225lbs and 5'9". I started yesterday, and found CalorieCount today... so here I go. :)

1. History with weight loss: Up and down through my life, never had a problem with weight until high school. My mother started going on every diet in the book... and as she did, us kids ate the same foods she did, which ironically lead to my bad eating habits. I gained nearly 50 pounds when I went away to college and could barely afford much more than ramen noodles and pringles, and have been struggling to lose that weight since.

2. History with Calorie Count: Seeing how I joined today... there isn't much to tell :)

3. Reason for joining this group: The Lord has blessed me with so much the past couple years: getting out of a bad relationship at the right time, finding the love of my life, providing for me a car and amazing job with people I love working with, and has shown me that my friends and family are worth being happy for. Now that I am happier than I have ever been, I decided I need to get off the path of self-destruction and get to feeling better about myself, and taking care of myself.

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I am a website designer, and am moving out of my parent's house for a second (and final) time this January. I work full time and go to school full time, and am incredibly excited for what 2010 has to offer... only time will tell :) But I hope I am only 165lbs when it happens!

History with Weight Loss: I am 21 years old and the summer of 2008 I decided to join weight watchers because I was at an all time high weight of 183. I did not want to make it to that 200 mark AT ALL! I got into gear. Over the next 3 months I lost about 30lbs. Then I went back to school and quit weight watcher meetings and such as it was getting expensive. I then just keep doing the point system, but was slower at losing weight because of being busy with school. I managed to drop about 15lbs throughout the school year though. Then that summer, I gained back about 10 and now I am back on my journey so that I can finally get to my goal weight of 125!

History with Calorie Count: I joined in August, hoping that it would help me to keep track and to be accountable for what I was actually eating. Kind of same principles as Weight Watchers, but calories instead of points. I have been able to lose about 8lbs since the end of august. It has been really slow going.

Reason for joining this group: I am trying to include God in every part/aspect of my life, so why not my weight lose as well. I need to rely on Him to help me through each day. I thought it would be helpful to interact with others who think along the same lines. It is good to surround yourself with like minded people that can encourage you.

About me: I am 21 years old and a senior in college. My major is supply chain management. I just got married this summer to a wonderful man! So, the last year has been kind of crazy with school and wedding plans. I love to read books, all kinds. But mostly drama and romance...typical girly books. Karen Kingsbury is one of my favorite authors along with Nicholas Sparks. I like to go running, at least right now I do. And I love to meet new people and make new friends:-)

Hi! My name's Maria and here's a bit about me...I'll try not to be too long winded ;)

1. History with weight loss: Well...I didn't start thinking about weight until about 17 yrs old. I remember being diligent in working out to videos and eating generally healthy foods. After high school food started to control my life and negative thoughts about my body began to invade my mind.  When I was 20 I left home to complete a DTS with YWAM which changed my life.  The Lord birthed so many new passions in my heart and so I left for bible college. There my weight yo-yo'd and even though my relationship to God was growing, I wasn't allowing him to take full control over every aspect of my life.  My last year of college I lived in Italy serving a church there. Due to the different way of life in Northern Italy I lost 22 pounds without even trying. When I came back I was so scared of putting the weight back on that I became obsessed with trying to control it.  In 5 months I put on 30 lbs and was eating my way through depression.  I began binging and purging which followed me for 4 years. I have tried every diet and am drawn to any kind of health/weight loss info. I believe that the Lord has set me free from Bulimia and choose to live in that freedom.

2. History with Calorie Count: This is something new for me...taking advantage of support in this area.

3. Reason for joining this group: I have realized that I can't face this journey of weight loss and balance alone and that the Lord has orchestrated groups like this in order that we might encourage one another in our walk with him as well as on this road to a health.

4. Who I am: Hmmm, well I am a lover of God. He is my rock and I need Him daily. I am fascinated by who He is and that He has and never will give up on me. He is my life. I currently live in BC, Canada with my sister and family.  I am very close with her and love how much life there is in our house! Never a dull moment with 5 kids and 3 adults around :) I am unemployed at the moment and really am not sure which direction I would like to go for a career. What I really would love to do is spend the rest of my life overseas some where telling my story and reflecting Jesus to others. I don't have any children of my own and love hiking, running, cooking, nutrition, reading, singing, praying, nature, cultures, anthropology and buttons and seriously there's so much more! Anyway, I'm looking forward to meeting new people and walking with others in this awesome journey!

Hi Everyone!

A little about me:  I've never been small so I don't really have a concept of what it'd be like to be slender and be me.  I'm working on making that concept a reality.  I began working on losing about 3 1/2 years ago and have lost 42 lbs since then.   I've tried a lot of 'diets' but find the only thing that works for me is not dieting... and moving.

I began using CC August of '09 and loved the tools, the layout, and the advice.  My weakness is accountability and that's why I'm here.  By here I mean CC and in this group.  I know the only way to conquer a weakness is to address it.  Funny... just realized I'm doing the same with my eating & weight.  I joined this group because I need the positivity and encouragement from other individuals like me.

I work as a receptionist (extraordinaire).  I have the most wonderful chihuahua named Mira.  I'm single and have no kids but I do hope to change all that one day.  I love film... everything about it.  Basically I love meeting new faces and trying new and different things... but I do have my limits!

Smiles,

Liluma

My name is Julie and I am excited about finding this site.   I was thin half my life and was a size 5 and allowed my mom to say I was heavy.  I had a child and only gained 10 lbs and he was 10 lbs 2 1/2 oz so I was good then.  When I was 5 months preggy my husband left me for my best friend and they were married within 6 months of the birth of my son.

I just joined CC and this group but I have over 115-130 lbs to lose.  I have lost 140 lbs over the last 5 years.  I so want to lose faster but it does not come off fast enough.  Until I wrote the words I didn't realize that I have lost 1 person.  This is shocking and I guess I never thought of it like this.  I am ready to do it through prayer and support from this group.

I am a country girl with a big heart.  My hubby and I will celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary Dec. 31 - yes ladies he picked the date so he would not forget it.  I have one son who is 29 and just got married this summer and I love my new daughter.  I have 5 babies and a bird. Sweetie(rescued), Julie Jules(rescued), Booger (rescued) who all are miniture pinschers.  Tabita is next and she is a rotty who thinks she is 8lbs verus 85lbs and last and my hubby has said LAST is Emma rescued chichula and she is my baby!!  I retired from work do to my health in May 2009 and been a home body since then.  I do love to cook and last but not least is that I do love the Lord and know that He can help me though anything.  I love forward to making new christian friends on here!!

Hi!  My name is Julie and I'm new here!!

1. History with weight loss: up and down....mostly up for the past few years, looking to lose about 75 lbs, have lost 14.2 toward my goal so far!!

2. History with Calorie Count: Just joined at the beginning of the month, LOVE it so far!  Great way to hold myself accountable.

3. Reason for joining this group: Rather than just lurking on the site and logging calories, would like to start getting more involved with people working on the same type of goals I am.  Give and get support/encouragement.

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:  I'm 29 years old, and work as a Customer Service Supervisor.  Married for 6 years, have a 3 year old daughter.  One cat (Kitty Kat), 15 fish (some named, some not), and a giant dog (Zeus).

Hello to all of you! Laughing

1. History with weight loss: I was never overweight as a child, although I inherited my maternal Grandmother's "big bones" (as my Mom would put it). I was so-so as far as being active, preferring to sit around drawing pictures to running outside. I grew up close to my sister, who was a tomboy, so if it were not for her, I would probably have been heavier, lol. We loved riding our bikes, swimming, etc., so when we were outside I would do things like that...but I also had trick knees, making me deathly afraid of running. So games like tag & such were OUT! I tried to be more active, but my knees would nearly always go out of joint, so I learned to say "I don't want to play that" just to avoid the situation. When I got older, I was still within my ideal weight range, but after I married my husband (1977) I stayed pregnant for the first nine years, having eight children, with two more in Heaven. Kiss Every time I tried to lose the added pounds, I would get pg again, lol, so I gave up. It has been since I had our younger son 21 years ago that I have been a size 2X, paying extra every time I shopped for clothes! (Now, I am happy to report that I have shrunk down to a Large, so I am almost completely free of the "X" sizes, with a few still @ the 1X range.)

2. History with Calorie Count: I joined CC on June 1, 2009 ~ so for the past (nearly) 6 months, I have been counting. I weighed 240lbs then, but had lost 4lbs earlier with no real effort...now I'm @ 208, so I'm very happy about that!

3. Reason for joining this group: Someone had posted a couple of weeks ago about whether or not to believe that God has anything to do with weight loss, staying fit & healthy, etc. There were quite a few who joined in, saying that He has everything to do with it! There were also a few atheists who joined in as well, which is fine, but to read the comments they posted would make my blood boil, to put it bluntly. They were quite rude, to put it mildly. I have no problem with others' beliefs, to each his own, but to be rude to people...there is NO excuse! When I was invited to join this Group, I was happy to do so; I am a cradle Roman Catholic, & I wear my Faith on my sleeve, so to speak. Wink

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: Like I said earlier, my first love as a child was drawing pictures ~ and I have never lost that love. I am a freelance Artist, so I do spend alot of time sitting @ my drawing table. This might be part of the reason I need to count calories, lol. But I would rather be slightly overweight and creative, than to give that up & be thin.

I have been married to my husband for 32 years; like I also said, we have eight children, ranging in age from 21-30; 2 boys, 6 girls ~ 2 are married, one Grandson (so far). I have always been a stay-at-home, proud of it, too! Laughing

Well, that's more than enough about me, lol...I hope I have not bored anyone to death here...but I am very happy to be in the Group & God bless us all. And I send my greetings to your Angels. Innocent

oh, yeah...one more thing...I did have surgeries as a teen to fix my knees (R knee @ 11 years, L knee @ 13), lest anyone think that I go around falling on my face every day, lol. So that does make it ALOT easier to do my daily workout routines!

Just wanted to make that clear! Laughing

1. History with weight loss:  Lowest weight was 116 at marriage and current weight is 264 with the highest weight being 313.  I gained excess weight due to medications.  Most of them their side effect is weight gain, but they seem to be the only ones that help my conditions. So I am stuck.

I joined a gym in February of 2009. Built up stamnia but not weight loss. Something always happens to stave off my efforts to go to the gym, medically. Need prayers for better health.

2. History with Calorie Count: Joined May 28th, 2007.

3. Reason for joining this group: Fellowship, and to develop a stronger faith.

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:  I am faithful to my Lord, family and friends. I have been married one time and it is my lifelong job  - so far of almost 24 years.  We have one adult child who will graduate college this year.  Our household consists of two dogs that are mature.  11 yrs old and almost 16 years old.  Both pets don't look their age and aside of some medical issues get along well.

They are my children/grandchildren as I am always giving one or the other some type of medicine throughout the day. LOL. So with my meds, I guess you could say I am a nurse of some sort. Wink

I will not give up on my journey as it is my goal to become as healthy as my health will permit.

Take care all and God Bless. . . .

Look forward to more fellowship with you all.

History with weight loss: I never really had a problem with my weight until recently. I was a competitive swimmer pretty much my entire life all through high school and up to college. Because of all the training, I could eat whatever I wanted and would always lose weight at the height of every season. Now that I am all grown up, done with swimming and working full-time I can't get away with the eating habits that I could before. I have also found it difficult because swimming was so intense and I would burn endless amounts of calories that now ANY exercise I do just does not hold a candle to the workout I was getting with swimming-I found this out when I was finished with swimming (was glad and still am glad to be done-soo much work and dedication!) and didn't change my eating habits or continue to workout at the same level...it has all caught up with me. Now, 50 lbs. later I am ready to put in the effort and make a lifestyle change.

History with Calorie Count: Just joined about a week ago, and "officially" started yesterday...didn't see the point of starting 2 days before thanksgivingTongue out

Reason for joining this group: I love the Lord and I love people that love Him too!! The first thing I did while starting this journey was ask for his blessing and help. My relationship with God has grown so much this year and this is something I definitely wanted Him in on!! After all, this is the temple He blessed me withSmile

Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I work at an accounting firm and I love it-I know I'm a nerd! I recently got engaged to the love of my life so this is a big reason for my decision to make a change. My fiance was a non-believer when we met and eventually started coming to church with me and came to accept the Lord. This was such a miracle to experience and his new life for God really refreshed my relationship with Him in a way that I could never explain! After a while, God provided so many opportunities for us to grow both with Him and with each other and we are now serving as youth leaders at our church-such a blessing but it keeps us very busy!!

I look forward to getting to know you all...good luck everyone!!
