1. History with weight loss:

3. Reason for joining this group:
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:

And now just go ahead and make that first post!

I just started on CC on June 8... tomorrow will be one month for me. It was a pretty good first month as I have tossed 15 pounds. I don't care if it was mostly water either... I am 15 lbs lighter and I feel sooo much better already.

I have been struggling with weighing myself too much so hopefully this group will help me stick to my Saturday weigh in plan. Thank you for inviting me Norma Jean Smile

My weight this Saturday was 205...

I've been on CC since 2008, but I've never posted anything. (I'm stupidly shy)  I read that if you're not active on CC, you get kicked out of this group? What does it mean by "active"? Is it like, logging food/exercise? (cause I never do that...) Or is it just roaming the site? I'm sorry if this doesn't make much sense... I guess what I'm asking is - if I post saturday weigh ins, but don't do the logs, will I get kicked out of this group?

Anyways, I've been trying to lose weight on and off for 2 years. I can't seem to stick to it though, and I'm easily frustrated/give up. So that's why I want to join this group, for the support/accountability.

Goodness! I'm not making much sense tonight. Sorry! (this is why I never post...)

I'm 21, female, 5'9". My goal weight is 150-160 or so. My highest recorded weight was 226 pounds. My current weight as of this Saturday was 212.8 pounds. Starting around 6 years ago I started having foot/ankle/knee pain related to my weight. I put on 40 pounds between age 14 and 15 (the start of my depression). Oh, and I've been vegetarian my whole life. I'm an obese vegetarian :)

Thank you for responding in the "Introduce Yourself Forum".  To answer your question, if this is a group for people to weigh in on Saturdays and you do not record your weight weekly - what is the point of belonging to this group?

If you do not report in after 1 month (4 weeks) you will be deleted from the group.  This is more than sufficient time in case of unforeseen circumstances that cause you not to be able to report weekly.

Also, I would like to promote more interaction with the members in this group.  As you stated, you are shy.  I want you to be able to feel you can open up and say what is troubling you with your journey for healthy eating.  This should be a safe haven and not one of judging (we all have our problems).

I look forward to getting to know you!  I'm only an email away.

My name is Amanda. My history with weight loss is pretty much non-existent. I have been "bigger" since middle school. I have tried once before to count calories because a friend of mine lost a lot of weight with this site and still looks great. I really need to stick with it this time and that is my reason for joining the group. I also have a big issue with over weighing. I think that is one of the reasons I quit before becasue I was weighing too much. I didn't lose weight for 2 weeks and got very frustrated. I hope the support from this group will give me what I need to stay motivated.

1. History with weight loss: some, i weighed my highest just before my divorce and during/after i weighed my best. Since then I have gained about 20 pounds give or take a few. I want to be healthy, tone up and lose a few of my buldges.

2.  I've been a member of CC since April, I've had some success but I was slow to get started. I've been serious since mid June...well except over the fourth of July weekend where for the most part I was good except that large dinner and ice cream afterwards.

3. I am looking for a weigh in team for some accountability. I want to write to and read what others are doing in order to be successful. Including snack ideas, exercise ideas, and general motivation.

4. I live in Alaska, winters are cold - summers can be tempermental. I love being outside. My job takes me traveling alot so it's hard to belong to a gym, finanically anyway... I am not married but have the same boyfriend for almost 7 years, maybe a bit shy on marriage since I've been down that road and he is too since his mother and father were divorced and remarried several times.

I just would like to meet people who I can support and who will support me. I am 5'2" and 150lbs. I would like to be at 130 and see how that feels. I don't have lots of money to spend on gyms, organic food and other diet/weight managment stuff.

I would be happy to meet people like me.

Hi all! My name is Sara.  I belonged to this group before but slacked on reporting my weigh ins so I got the boot.  I would like to join back up as I find it really helps me be acountable for my weight loss.  I have been a memeber of CC for awhile now.  It helps keep everything in perspective for me.  I do find it hard to keep up with as it is very time comsuming. I have a busy life- married, 3 boys, work etc..  I have about 10-15 more pounds to lose and I need some motivation, that is why I am back.  I have lost more since I last posted though and  I am at 142.6.  My goal is 128.  Wanted to get there by August 8th...don't think that is going to happen, but I would like to lose a few more pounds by then.  I have been running everyday.  It was hard to get started.  I walked first and finally got to where I can run almost 3 miles.  I am planning on running a 5-k in the fall.  It has always been a dream of mine and I think it will finally come true.  I would love to chat with anyone about weight loss, managing time to exercise, kids, and finding motivation.  Hope everyone is well and I look forward to losing weight with all of you!

Hi everyone!

My name's Maria, and I'm a 22-year-old (23 this Thursday) Library and Information Science student currently living in Berlin. I like books, going out with friends and to concerts (with or without them), oh, and spending a lazy day at the beach.

I've been heavy pretty much since elementary school. I lost a bunch of weight around age 13 by virtue of my Mom being on a diet, but gained it back when she stopped. Then again, I lost several pounds when I was 17 and moved to Brazil (due to the food being different and also due to going to the gym with friends there). Again, gained it all back (and then some) when I returned to Germany.

I've had an account here at CC since 2007, and was on - but mostly off - the wagon for a time. Last Saturday (which is pretty much why I joined the group in the first place, besides wanting accountability and a regular support group (read: people I can share my frustrations and successes with)) I got completely fed up with being the weight I am (was), which is 260 lbs. That's right. I'm 5'9", so it balances out a very little, but still, dude!

Why that Saturday? Well, for one my birthday is coming up this Thursday, so getting older and being a weight this unhealthy just doesn't cut it. Two, I was making a list of the tattoos I want to get (it's quite long by now, I've had years to think about it), and I've been putting that off forever, always going "I just need to lose a little weight, so that it won't look weird (and also so that the tattoo artist won't look at me askance, I ain't gonna lie)". Well, I've had enough. I want those tattoos, and I want them ASAP.

1. History with weight loss: I've always struggled on some level with my weight. When I was in my teens I suffered from an eating disorder though I grew out of this when I entered university and moved away from home. However, I worked at a frozen custard shoppe (ack!) my first year and promptly gained around 40 lbs. I didn't even realize how much I had gained until I had gained the whole 40. I moved back home because my mother became very ill. When she passed away a few months later, with all the stress I reverted back to my ed tendencies. Through counseling and time, I've worked my way out of it but in the process I find myself at an unhealthy weight. I am 5'2" and weigh currently 141 lbs. I'd like to see myself at around 110-115 lbs. I have a very small frame.

2. History with Calorie Count: I just joined CC today, this seems like a wonderful place for support (and I need just that). When you have a strong group of sympathetic people who are literally going through the same struggles as you, it can only help boost you over your obstacles. It seems like a no brainer.

3. Reason for joining this group: I was bopping around the site and thought a weekly check in would be a great motivator for me, everyone seems so friendly and it is such a positive influence to see the great progress others are making.

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I work in a contemporary art museum in the education department. My job can be very stressful: I coordinate all the group tours that come through the museum as well as all the education programs. I started my job in September of 2008 and have noticed the big weight gain during this time. It is my first "jobby job" and I spend a lot of time sitting at a desk (I did purchase one of those exercise balls to sit on recently). I live with a wonderful, supportive boyfriend and our four cats (Nona, Rev, Bonnie, and Creedence). I love art, music, reading, and I just started sewing/knitting. Oh and I also love cooking and, obviously, food. I would consider myself a bit of a "foodie".

I am so excited to start this process!

Hi my name is Jessica.

My history with weight loss...ive tried different diets but none of them ever worked.

I recently joined calorie count and so far its helped me and I would love to continue using.

I am joining this group because I think that weekly weigh ins are helpful!

I am 5'3, 18 years old, and I currently weigh 180.6. My starting weight is 189. I love llamas! My nephews are my world and I have 5 of them and my brother is in iraq at the moment and should be coming home soon I cant wait!

Hello, My name is Jessica, as well.

I have been apart of CC for a year now, but never really knew what to do with it. I have tried to lose weight now for 5 years. I have tried the biggest loser challanges and thin and healthy and ediets....Um u get the jist. I have a bad time sticking to an unrealistic diet. So I am kinda following my own plan . One I have concocted by taking all the positive elements from previous diets and making it custom to my needs.

Of course this is a work in progress, and It is also a lifestyle change that i am ultimately striving for. A balance, I guess. Here are some facts about myself....

I am 31 years old. I weigh 230 pounds. I am only 5'4. And I feel like i am 80 years old!

I have 3 wonderful, active children and A magnificant husband who NEVER complains about my weight. Thankfully!

I am excited to join this group. I also teach in the fall. I can't wait to weigh in on saturday. I know I won't have lost any weight ,bcuz i'm just starting, but I am optimistic.

Thank YOu for letting me join!

Hi. My name is Jessica also.

1. History with weight loss: I've always been rather chubby but my weight problems really got bad about 2 years ago. Then the yo-yo diets started. I've tried nearly 15 different diets over the last 2-3 years including Atkins, Nutrisystem, Weight Watchers, Fruits/Veggies diet, Grapefruit diet, etc.

2. History with Calorie Count: I joined CC about 3 days ago while I was looking for an online weight loss support group.

3. Reason for joining this group: Motivation, and to hear about our people's struggles and success with weight.

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I'm currently a junior in high school. I'm 5' 7-8" and weight about 237 lbs currently, but I'm losing it soon! Most of my family is overweight also. Living in the South(Texas) it was hard to really eat healthy when I was younger. I currently don't have a job, but I'm looking for one. I love reading and sleeping. Lol.

My name is Rebecca, I am 5 feet 6 inches tall, 14 years old, and weigh 320 pounds.

History with weight loss: I have always been overweight, ever since I can remember. I have tried losing weight by eating less, but I always end up eating more later. We have a group in our school called the Wellness Club. It is for the overweight students, and we talk about food and exercise. I have had no success being in the group. I am pretty sure I am the heaviest one in the club, too. :(

History with CC: I just started a few days ago. I don't know much about the site yet. It seems like they have a lot of useful information on here though.

Reason for joining this group: I weigh myself on Saturdays, too. Also, everyone in the group sound very friendly and helpful. And I would like to hear about others' success so I can try to be more motivated, too.

About me: I am a complete animal lover. I have 21 fish, 1 hamster, 1 bunny, 1 dog, and 2 cats. My favorite things to do are fishing (I feel sorry for the fish though) cooking, gardening, and birdwatching. I live with mother and brother. My father died a few years ago.  I really don't like talking about my weight to my family, and I excercise in my room, because I am embrassed about the way I look.

Hi!!  This is my first attempt to do something 'formal' about myself.  I hope I'm even doing this post right.

I will be 45 years old in two weeks and I am ready to lose some of this weight.  I am 5'3" tall and weigh somewhere around 172 lbs.  Most of my life I was very active and sporty.  That seems to be the image I hold for myself, but when I see pictures of myself, I gasp and get sad.  So, OBVIOUSLY, there is a real disconnect.  I would like to close the gap.

I tried the Calorie Counter this morning and can't BELIEVE how many calories my breakfast was!  Holy chow, I am on a steep learning curve here.  I think my true problem is portion control, because when I exercise, I drop weight like magic.  You would think I would be able to keep it going, after seeing the great results, but you know how circumstances in life just get in between us and the best of our intentions sometimes....

I am married and have two children, a teenager and a seven year old.  I teach school overseas, so my weigh-ins might be off day-wise, but I will do my best.  I am good at two things:  committing to exercise and weighing in faithfully.  I am bad at eating sweets!

We are currently on vacation, so I won't be near my beloved scale until one week from tomorrow, so be patient with me, ok?  "I want to get it right," as Amy said in Crossing Delancey.

Hi I'm new here! Here's my info:  :)

1. History with weight loss: I've lost 20 pounds so far--took me about a year, by calorie counting and changing habits. I have 14 pounds to get to my goal weight. I'm currently 124 and would like to be 110 pounds by Christmas--would love to look really cute at hubby's Christmas party!

2. History with Calorie Count: I just found this calorie counter recently because my old one was having technical difficulties and this one is so much better! I love the Analysis!

3. Reason for joining this group: I really like consistant accountability, I find it motivating.

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I have two kids, ages 3 and 5. I'm a SAHM, which is awesome. I'm working on  getting up at 6 every day for a workout. I would love to give my kids the habit of exercising first thing in the morning. It's tough, but I'm going to do it.

Hi, my name is Megan.  I am 21, 5'7 and 173 pounds as of last week.

1. History with weight loss: As a kid, I never really paid attention to how much I weighed, but I had always sort of noticed that I was bigger than most of my friends.  When I started college, I actually lost 15 pounds, but gained it back and more during my second year (i lived with my best friend and started eating junk food all the time!).  Third year, I lost 10 pounds studying abroad, came back and promptly gained it all back.  Since June I have lost that 10 pounds but want to make a bigger lifestyle change so that I stop fluctuating so much.  My goal is to be 150, and I plan on taking it slow.
2. History with Calorie Count: just found it/ started using it last week.  I like this idea of holding myself accountable for my weight changes and being able to reach my goals along with others.
3. Reason for joining this group: I already had started using Saturdays as my weigh days and like the idea of sharing the process and successes with others, as well as motivating others.
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I work in a library, am going to graduate from college in December, and live in California.  I love music and concerts.  I have been a "pescatarian" my whole life.  Unsure what I want to do after college, but aim to be some kind of writer. :)

Hi I'm Melissa, and here is my info!  Laughing

1. History with weight loss: I've lost 30 pounds in the last 50 weeks since my youngest daughter was born, most of it in the first six months of her life and then i let go and stopped despite my fantastic progress, through calorie counting.  I really want to up my game and lose another 30 before x-mas.

2. History with Calorie Count: I've stumbled across calorie count using a google search for, go figure, calorie counting (looking for an easier way than reading labels all the time.....HAHAHAH) and have fallen in love with it, its SO interacive and EXACTLY what i need!

3. Reason for joining this group:  I need to be held accountable.  I want to be able to read about peoples successes and use it for motivation (it CAN be done!) and i really wanted a place where no one will judge me for venting.  my family and friends are very judgemental and i need a change from that. (likr that 30 pounds was rewarded with you still look fat and not congradulations....grr at them....) [its bold by technical error, not mine....i cant get it to change....grr]

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I'm a single mom of 2 lovely girls, ages practically 1 and 3.  i work from home, and i love my job.  I love to drive, its my alkalies heel....since im trying to lose weight.  i also love to sing, which i do when i drive and when at church! thats about it......

Hi Melissa!

I just joined this group yesterday and it's really great! Lot's of people who are supporting each other! Just the way you are describing it! And let me say it if your family can't:

YOU DID A GREAT JOB LOSING THOSE 30 POUNDS! WELL DONE!!!

Congratulations!

All of us know how hard it is to lose 30 lb! You go girl!

And I am totally with you! 30 lb until Christmas! I would even be happy with 25 lb, but 30 lb is good too! Laughing

All the best and have a good night!

brigit

that's fantastic...thanks so so much.  i'm with ya on the 30 pounds by x-mas....i'm moderating mine to 25 too, but 30 would be cool! 5 pounds closer to the goal, and you can't beat that.  if you need a buddy to share ideas and recipes or whatever with, let me know.  I'm new at all that but since our goals are about the same it'd be nice to have someone to hold me accountable and share the inner me with! or to just vent to when i mess up.....or anything.  yeah.........

Hi my name is Sam and I joined CC on wednesday. I have had a long history of unsuccessfully trying to lose weight. I was always chubby but now with work pressure etc I've become downright fat. Joining CC was my friends idea who got really alarmed at the starvation methods I had started adopting as a desperate measure. Reading other peoples posts has been an eye opener. I have now switched to a eat-healthy-and-eat-enough diet and am also keeping a strict check over the number of calories consumed. Lets hope it works!

This saturday will be my 1st weigh-in. Currently I'm at 187, my target is 132.

I'm Tracy and I have been on CC since January 2008 and love this site...but I have still managed to yo-yo my weight.  I lost up to ten pounds in 08 but I've now gained 17 back so I am now back on the wagon this week to lose 30 pounds. In the past I have not been part of any group on CC and I really don't like putting stuff about myself in cyberspace but I am going to breakdown and do something different this time. Making "friends" with the same struggles and goals just might help so thank you for the opportunity to join you in this journey. I like to weigh once a week and Saturday is a good day to start.

I am definitely an Emotional Eater and my job has been very stressfull. All I've done for 6 months is eat out alot to deal with the stress so that's stopped and I'm logging every calorie again and I see that I have just been eating mindlessly for months. My clothes don't fit and I am tired of it so I am "one" with CC until further notice! So far I have cleaned out my cabinets and car :-) of junk food, exercised for 4 days this week and drinking water. I am 5' and weigh 150 pounds. I'm in on Saturday for weigh - in!

Tracy
