Say hi, and introduce yourself... Tell us a little about yourself.  If you want, tell us:

1. Where you are from and what school you go to.

2. What year in Law School you are.

3. Do you have pets, are you married/engaged?

4. What do you do when you are not studying?

Hello, I am from New Mexico. I'm not a law student yet, I'm still working on my undergrad degree, but I'll be heading to law school soon after that.

I don't have any pets were I live, but my fiance and I have some fish at his place.

When I'm not studying (or working) I'm usually online, browing forums here or on Facebook, or playing games on Pogo.com!

If anyone has tips about applying to law school, or suggestions about where to apply, I'd appreciate it! I'm applying to UNM Law and Ave Maria.

i'm not yet in the process of applying to law school but i am from new mexico also. one big thing that most people say about unm is to have alot of recomendations from new mexican lawyers and teachers. the legal community is pretty small here and they seem to accept people who have recomendations from local lawyers.

Awesome, thanks for the advice! Maybe I'll see you there Smile

for sure, that would be cool. good luck with admissions!

I am not sure if either of you have taken the LSAT yet, but be sure you take a course if you haven't yet.  It is really helpful.  I go to a law school in Florida called Barry University School of Law.  Be sure that you visit the campus that you are planing to attend so that you know it will be a good fit for you.  It is much harded to transfer to another school when you are in law school than it was in undergrad.  I am in my third and final year, so if you have any questions, let me know!

Hi guys,

I am a law student in my 3rd year at GU Law.  I will be graduating in May and will be getting married the weekend after graduation.  My advice to those who are still applying to law schools is... apply everywhere! Even places you don't think that you would ever want to live.  See where you get in and go where life takes you.  That's what I did.  I never thought I would ever live in WA but it's pretty nice and I met the man of my dreams.

thanks so much dove that will be so helpfull! what is your campus like??? i haven't reasearched it too too much but i need to start.

Hey everyone!

I am also a third year law student at Gonzaga Law School. I think that people are right when they say that you should take a course for the LSAT and that you should apply everywhere. More importantly, however, I think you need to know yourself, how you learn and what you want. I didn't take an LSAT course. I did use a study guide, but I only gave myself about 3 weeks to study. I don't necessarily suggest that, but then again, here I am. I also only applied to three schools. I knew where I wanted to go. I applied to two others just in case, but that was unnecessary. For me, it has worked out. Good luck!

Anyway, as I said, I am a third year law student. I am counting down the days to graduation! I was married last June and feel like I am the luckiest person in the world. I have met some of the greatest friends in the past years here at Gonzaga. While I've enjoyed my time here, I am ready to go back home.

Good luck on finals this year.

Hey everyone, my name's Selena and I'm at law school in the UK. The system is very different to yours, so I'm not going to confuse you with it, but basically I don't start at my firm until Fab 2011...

I'm not married and I don't have any pets, but I've been with my boyfriend for nearly four years.

What kind of question is "What do you do when you're not studying?"?? Do any law students get time for anything else??

Hi, I'm a soon-to-be 1L at Lewis and Clark School of Law in Portland, OR. I am single with two cats and a very proud mother :P In my free time I love to mountain bike, hike, and camp. I also love playing guitar and cooking, hanging out at the farmer's market, etc.

Although it doesn't look like this is the busiest of groups, it looks like a good start.  :)  I'm a 0L, will be attending either SLU or WUSTL in the fall.  I've been accepted to both, I'm just waiting on the final scholarship offers to make my decision.  I'm super excited, it's something that I believe will be a great fit for me.  I'm a few years out of undergrad, but am thrilled about going back to school.

I haven't been around CC for quite some time, but am trying to make my way back.  It's one thing to be the old person in LS, I don't want to be old and out of shape!  ;)

Hello! I'm Grace, from Colombia. I'm 20 years old and I'll become a lawyer next year. I am a crazy cat lady (single :P), and when I'm not busy studying (not frequently) I'm a webdesigner. And if there is any time left, I try to go to the gym, but I haven't gone in two months now :S  joined CC to watch what I eat while I cand find some time to go back to the gym.

Hello!   Laughing

I'm Emilie, 26 yo, from Canada, and a 2nd year Law student (doing Common Law and Civil Law in order to know all the legal systems). I also have previous studies in Biopharmaceuticals and virology. My interests are mostly in Corporate Law, international regulations, ... and I want to work in IP.

I am single and have an adorable black mexican Chihuahua who makes my house lively and keeps me company when I do my readings  :P

I also work as an Administrative Coordinator and get a very decent pay... But it gives me very little time to hang out with my girlfriends, have get-togethers, girl nights, ... I however find time for my family and to meet with the girlfriends. Keeps me somewhat sane.  lol

I didn't bother with taking a course for the LSAT and cannot say I had a very strong knowledge of Law... I find that anyone with a broad knowledge of the legal system and a logic mind can pass the exam with a few months of preparation.

Hi- I'm Mike a 24 year old third year student at Stetson Law in Florida. I have a cat named Elwood and I play golf to try and burn off all the excess sugar I eat. Joined CC to keep account of what I eat and lose some of my beer belly.  G/f says it brings the law student 'A-type' out in me, but I think it will be good.  Interests in Environmental Law, Constitutional Law/Civil Liberties, and Real Estate. Good luck to all.

Hey guys!  I am glad to see there are so many law students on this site!  I just graduated from Barry in May, and took the bar in July, and found out last monday that I passed! I was sworn in on Wednesday, so I am officially (as soon as the bar cashes my check) a Florida Attorney!   I still need to get back in track.  All that celebrating did a number on my waist line.  I need to lose about 7 pounds!  I wish everyone good luck!

Congrats on the bar! I'm trying to keep those thoughts out of my head as long as i can.... I'm a 3L at Rutgers in NJ. I joined CC because I've managed to let law school completely take over my life. I don't think I made a bad decision in going to law school, I think I regret not taking better care of myself while doing it.

Congrats on passing the bar!

I'm Ali and I am a 2L at Villanova. I definitely know what you mean about letting law school take over your life. Last year, I had no physical activity and gained about 10 pounds, maybe more. (I can't help it... I love food. And beverages.)I've been doing this whole calorie count thing now for about a week and a half, and even though I haven't seen results yet (the clothes might be a littttle looser.. trying to be optimistic haha) I feel so much better than I did last year. Exercising every day and just being healthier in general has already given me a much better frame of mind. I'm trying to lose around 7-10 pounds and just lead a healthier life. At our young age it's not too late to make a permanent life change for the better! Good luck everyone!

Hi all, my name is Erica!  I'm originally from Tucson, but I am currently going to school (I'm a 1L) at Chicago-Kent.

I have no pets, no guy, but I do have a roommate, and a gigantic torts book to keep me occupied :)

When I'm not studying, I'm watching TV, or out exploring the city.  It's awesome here.

Here's some totally unsolicited advice: Unless you're going to a great, well known law school, try your hardest to go to school where you want to work.  My undergrad, UofA, has a great law school but no job market and very regional job placement!  My current school is lower ranked, but is very strong in one of the biggest legal markets in the nation.

About taking an LSAT course...I haven't had any friends benefit from them.  They never seem enthused about any of the skills they learned.  But I do think it's a good idea if you've been out of school for a while.  Get your head back in the game!!!
