I remember hearing about Matthew Shephard and.. I honestly couldn't understand how you could KILL Someone because they were gay.
But then I can't understand why you'd kill someone because they are.. just plain different than you.

I just had to research an urban legend. The one I picked was the "elevator incident"
Basically...a black man enters an elevator with his dog. There are three white women in the elevator...Black man tells the dog to sit using words like "sit lady" well the white women all sit on the floor fearing for their lives that they are going to be mugged. The person in the original story was Reggie Jackson but there are a lot of versions of this particular urban legend.
My point being...we have such stereotypes and hatred for anything that a) we dont understand and b) because of that ignorance we are afraid.
