Welcome to your 30's and lets talk
So I have seen teen, 20's, 40's, 50's and beyond, but no 30's group. So would anybody like to get something started? Not sure where to begin hmmmm
I guess being in our thirties our metabolism has not hit a wall just yet, but it certainly isn't what it was in the 20's. Don't you miss those days? Anything you want and as long as you did maybe one sport in high school, then no worries. Ohwell on to real life where nothing seems to be on schedule.
Let hear your thoughts.
Not sure about the aerobics though (its best for running to have one pair just for that, but I totally understand having limited funds, so I would say if you need to do it that way, go for it). Whatever you decide, keep track of the mileage you put on your shoes as this will dictate when its time to get new ones. Easy enough with the walking/running, not sure how you would add in the aerobics. If it were me, I would maybe add an extra mile or something for every 10 mins of aerobics. Running shoes are good for anywhere from 300 miles+ (500 miles is usually stated as when its time to get a new pair, but some can last longer, all depends on the person and the shoe). I think the good thing for you is that you could probably continue to use those same shoes for aerobics even after they have worn out for running and then get a new pair for running/walking.
Hope this helps
Hi girls, I see we are all not talking as much. I guess we gotten a whole lot busy with school starting for most of us, if not all. My kids go back today. I can't sleep. I'm so happy to have them out of the house. Yeah, I know that sounds bad, but a break from all the. ( MoM- MOM- MAMA!) I mean really, these 2 months with the kids was great, but wow..... Thanks for the much need break.
Now we have to get back into the swing of things. Getting 3 kids up, and not just that.. Changing my workout program around again. Kids are going back to school, and I'm so happy. So what's up with everyone who is still posting.
I see we are talking about new shoes and things. Walking and the Couch to 5 k. I'm doing a program like that. Lulu posted it, and I got in. The thing of it is... I'm not new at running, but I love to see how everyone is doing. I'm doing great. It's giving me time to take a much needed break with killing myself at the gym, and just relax and jog a little. I like it. I also like running wide open. I got records to break, and I love breaking my own running record. I have no one to run with half the time. Well, My BF hates the way I treat him. I mean... I love to run, and he loved to just talk off fast and give it all it got, and I run a lot different from him. Don't matter.. I got these girls to talk about running too, and the only days I have to deal with him and running is on our boot camp days.
We have to run killer laps and do crazy things in the morning, and it all adds up to 3 miles, and I've been doing it. He's now dragging ass. I think this boot camp is catching up with him, and he can't take it.
I told him to just get use to the gym and the people. Workout on your own steam. NO! He had to go and sign us up for boot camp training. :) I like it.. Nice bulky man training us, and he's hot... Easy on the eyes.. Hard on the body. Love the workout. Can't wait to get it over with, but I just might sign up for his other program, Advanced training. It's another good program. I'm going to have to check into that.
Well, chat you all later.. You all take care. If this read like crap... I'm sorry.. Fast brain slow fingers.
Later :)
Well my kids aren't going back to school LOL But things are changing around here as well. We are in the process of trying to get a car loan which has been like pulling teeth. Ive changed up the younger three's reading program in hopes that something else will help them improve. My 9 year old is dyslexic and still reads about as well as my 6 and 7 year old. Nothing we have done seems to help. But, everyone tells me that with dyslexic children it usually gets better around 9. Something clicks so we are giving it a shot.
Other than that nothing much is going on. My days are pretty bland. I have finally broken the 184 lb barrer. I was down to 183.8 this morning.
Hi everyone!! Havent posted in awhile.. been kinda busy- going out of town, chasing the kids, etc.. Seems like everyone else is pretty busy too.. a little more quiet in here! I have been kinda slacking on exercise, and so- so with eating. I am trying to get back on task here. I think we'll be sticking around home alittle more now, but my kids dont go back to school for about a month yet. We start the day after Labor day. I always forget that just about everywhere else seems to start early to mid August. We dont usually let out till early June though. Minnesota.
I seem to have plateaued for now.. weighing pretty consistently between 165 and 169.. at least havent seen 170 for awhile now.. Hopefully I get my butt in gear here and will start seeing a good drop.. You guys talking about that couch to 5k program has caught my interest.. I am considering trying it out. I have never been a runner, but this sounds like I could do it. Just have to figure out when to squeeze it in..
Lynn, you are doing so great! I wish I could run like that, wow! That boot camp sounds pretty tough! ugh. lol about your bf dragging! lol- your should post a pic of your trainer- I could use some eye candy ;) My YMCA opens in about a month now! I cant wait! I could really use some structure- help me stay focused and on track!
Well, Have a great weekend everyone!
Hey Wendy,
I start C25K back at the end of Nov last year and now I will be running my first half marathon next month, so I can HIGHLY recommend it. Although running isn' for everyone, I have totally gotten hooked. I made it to like ~129 lbs withuot even noticing because of all the running I am doing these days, and I jus consider that a bonus! Worst case scenario, it keeps you active for 9 weeks while you do the program, you can never go wrong with that.
no school here for me either, but then again, even if my little one was in school, the school system it totally different here in Australia than the states, their school year starts at the end of Jan and goes year round, with like a 6 week "summer break" over the Christmas and New year holidays. They also have 4 terms and get ~2 week break at the end of the first three terms. I LOVE school holidays because the traffic in Sydney dies down significantly.
Congrats on all the weight breakthroughs! Everyone seems to be doing so well, and even if you aren't losing, at least you aren't gaining either right?
Hope everyone has a great weekend, I run city to surf tomorrow (14K from the city to Bondi Beach!!!) woo hoo, can't wait!
Hey thanks Manta.. I decided to go ahead and try it out.. I downloaded a bunch of podcasts for this on my ipod and tried my first 'run' tonight.. It wasnt nearly as bad as I thought it would be..my daughter even followed me along on her bike.
I didnt know that you had started out with this program too! I only dream of being able to run like you. Best of luck on your half marathon! Have a great run tomorrow and a great weekend!
Hi ladies! Things are crazy as usual around here. Just wanted to check in and say hi. I made it thru week one of the couch to 5k! Some of us are repeating week 1, and i think I will to. I don't want to do too much too soon, because I don't want to hurt my legs are knees or anything. I need to get new shoes, and hear that asics and new balance are good ones. Any suggestions? I need good arch supports.
Manta, it is an inspiration to know that you started with the c25k! Maybe someday I'll be doing marathons too!
Hope everyone is keeping on!
hey girls, I attribute all the running I do to pure stubborness really
Stubborness pushed me along in my early running stages until it then became a habit and finally and addiction. I know, who would have ever thought running could be an addiction right?
The run went well yesterday, I didn't do it quite as fast as I was hoping for, but I was still happy with my time since I spent more of the race trying to weave around slower runners and walkers. I guess thats the drawback to running a race with 70,000 other people!
Just stick to the C25K program and if you need to repeat, then repeat, and don't get scared of it when it seems to jump you up quickly, you will be ready for it at that point, you just need to pace yourself (i.e. GO SLOW).
Lulu, go get fitted at a running store for shoes, it will be better for you in the long run having a good pair of shoes that suite you and help prevent injuries that can happen with increased running.
School started today. Last year I was in one classroom all day. This year, I'm in 3. I feel like a sprinter trying to get to the next classroom before the kids. Plus, I have to roll my little cart with me that has my materials for the classes in the other rooms. One of the teachers keeps joking that I won't need to go to the gym or workout after all the running around I do during the day. Guess I'll see if that helps me out.
On another note, it was one of the teachers in my departments birthdays and she was given a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. Thank goodness I am not a fan of chocolate cake, but I still had to eat a small piece since she offered. Not to bad on the calories.
Well hi! I would love to join this 30's group.
I am 30. 5'6 and 112lb. (I know, i'm working on that...)
I have a beautiful 5 year old daughter, the most amazing husband on the planet, (sorry girls:) and I love music, fire arms, and weights!
I joined cc about a week ago at the advice of a friend and I love it. Obviously, I'm using cc as a tool to track my lifestyle habits to make sure they are what they should be. I have a long history of not eating enough...(which I won't get into here) cc as been very eye opening for me. Even now I find that most days still have room for a spoon full of nutella or some ice cream! mmm...
Here's to being 30, healthy and happy at every size and shape. It's been a real renaissance for me.
cheers.
