WOO HOO back from the store and the fridge is clean and full again.  Molly I never congratulated on getting to the 200's  so Ill just do a back flip for ya.  I think most of us are going to be using January to take off christmas weight.  Its hard to believe that I put on 5 lbs in a week.  Then again I ate a LOT of sugar cookies..I knew they would get me in the end.  But right now Im glad the chaos of holidays is over and Ill be back to normal.  HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE!!!!!
Always welcome here Kathryn!  It was only here I became aware of steroids connection to weight.  Over holiday, someone talking about treatment of a damage shoulder joint due to anticipating my own knee diagnosis, when they spoke of avoiding steroids if possible and weight gain was what I thought of.

Made it Rachael!  Probably seems like its moving quick but thats sounds like a nice length vacation youre having.

Cookies always get me in the end to Sarah, even though I tell them to go to my boobs instead which Ive lost since dieting :P.  Still is officially holiday though until the big ball countdown drops.

Guess beggers cant be choosers but dang even I havent been waiting since Wednesday on my car and clocks ticking down to closing time with my ex picking up my tire & rim.  Closed tomorrow so if I dont make it will just wait it out to Thursday but always the optimist ...

Laughing Yay! A new year, and a brand-spankin' new thread! Laughing

Thanks, Jayne (Sun123) for your awesome, amazing, astounding work in putting together all those wonderful resources for everyone!!! YOU ROCK!!!

AGE................. 42

CURRENT.........299
GOAL...............250 (and then I will re-evaluate)

CALORIE GOAL....... 1500 per day
FIBER GOAL ........... 40g+ per day
CARB PERCENT ...... 50-55% per day
CHOLESTEROL ....... 200 or less per day
EXERCISE GOAL .....  90+ minutes per week
WATER GOAL .......... drink more, drink more, drink more

I usually get an official weigh-in day (OWID) once per week on Sundays, and sometimes there are unofficial sneaky weigh-in days (USWID) starting on Thursday or so, but since I've stressed so much lately about the scale (it was being uncooperative), my wonderful DH has stated that he thinks I need to return to once-per-month weigh-ins for the next few months. So ... when I get to step on the scale, I'll be sure and report ... I just don't know when that will be!

=^..^= MOLLY

Jayne, you are such a motivator to us all!!!

With the New Year brings a new start....so here are the stats

Angela, Tacoma WA..33yrs old, 183lbs....

by reading the profile we all know that I have been on this journey ups and downs for a long time now...but it is time for a new start, health issues and all....I also have started logging food, not ready to log calories...so out comes my little notebook that I keep in my purse, every little bit of anything that goes into my mouth, including gum!!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR'S SBeachers and all others!!!!
I appreciate the guys and so glad to see us all here- well a few might be showing up fashionably late but the new threads official LOL!

Daily my ex agreed to fix my tire and daily cancelled. Finally last day for 2007 weighin and pushing all morning to get here.  Finally shows up 10 minutes after I needed to leave.  Then Kiki fighting with me for being mad.  Knowing I couldnt make it by 3 I still leave to get out of the house and hoping for a miracle.

In route, I call at 3pm - no answer.  I keep going, thinking now its my fault setting myself up to reach for that locked door.  I show up at 3:12 and its open - two girls running late.  No time for shock - to the scale.  I dont have to hit 365, just lower then 369.7 and the scale says 364.4.  Reweigh and 364.4.  Oh the shock.  Them being open, hitting the goal I set months ago.  Not 5 lbs over or under, 6/10ths of pound prediction - wake me up.

Exhaling.  Exhaling.  I thought I'd be all excited but instead Im just stupified.  A funny thing is I was so happy Molly you hit your goal and somehow I felt it jinxed - like the odds where to small for us both to hit it.  364.4 and Im STILL going back optimistic Thursday.

Yikes me and my long posts!

Yay! Yay! Yay! Yay! Yay! Yay! Yay! Yay! Yay! (I'd type that 364.4 times for you, but my fingers would fall off!)

YAY!

((( hug ))))

DECEMBER NUTRITION REPORT

Well, I've compiled my December Nutrition Report, and overall I'd have to say that I'm pretty happy with it. First off, I can proudly say that I've gotten an "A" Grade for every single day for the past three full months, woo hoo! OK, here's how everything breaks down for the month of December 2007 ...

AVERAGE DAILY CALORIES ............ 1431 (supposed to be 1500 or less!)

AVERAGE DAILY CHOLESTEROL ...... 197mg (supposed to be under 200!)

AVERAGE DAILY FIBER ...................... 58 grams (I try to keep it over 40g!!!)

CALORIES FROM FAT .......................... 13.1% (supposed to be 15% or less)

CALORIES FROM PROTEIN .................. 36.9% (supposed to be about 35%)

CALORIES FROM CARBOHYDRATES ....50.0% (WOO HOO! Hit the mark exactly!!!!)

And, of course, my December Report wouldn't be complete without mentioning I was on vacation for three days, as well as including a recap of how my weekly weigh-ins and weight loss went for the month of December, right?

DECEMBER 01 ................. 312.6

DECEMBER 08 ..................307.4

DECEMBER 14 .................. 304.2

DECEMBER 22 .................. 301.4

DECEMBER 30 .................. 299.0

HERE'S TO AN AWESOME JANUARY, PEEPS! Remember, we cannot control what the scale does, but we CAN control our nutrition and our activities!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hi!  I'm new to this site, but not to the SBD.  My hubby and I have been eating this way since 2003.  I've lost 65 lbs and he's lost 75.  We've mostly kept it off, but we've slipped up this past year and have gotten remotivated this past month.  In the past few days, I've lost 2 lbs and he's lost 3, doing a good solid Phase 2 and exercising more.  Yeah!

This is our story in pictures:  http://www.picturetrail.com/maggie_chris

This is my story after my first year on SBD, and especially my health results: http://messageboards.ivillage.com/iv-fbsouthb each/?msg=10790.1

This is a chart of my bloodwork over the years, beginning pre-SBD (amazing changes): http://messageboards.ivillage.com/n/mb/messag e.asp?webtag=iv-fbsouthbeach&msg=13350.1

I would encourage anybody to record and track these health result changes for themselves...they are the best of all!!!

I found this site because I've started using calorie-count.com to track my calories.  Calorie counting isn't part of the SBD, but I have been finding the combination of SBD + calorie counting to be very helpful!

Since I first started in 2003, I've never gone back to Phase 1.  If I need to detox (like I did recently), I just do a very good Phase 2 "lite" version for a few days, eating grain only in the AM, and keeping fruits to 1-2 per day.  In only three days of this, I get past the headaches and the cravings.   Maybe this tip will help others.

Good luck to everybody in 2008.  Here's to health!

Waking up to a new year with a killer toothache  not a good thing kept me up all last night... feels better this morning though.  trying to figure out who My dental insurance is.. its new and I havent used it yet. crazy morning already LOL.   My daughter just made me breakfast which is so nice but its a blueberry bagel.  She loves using the toaster and thinks she can cook.  will eat it but going to have to be real careful for the rest of the morning.  Im happy to report that the scale is going back down.  so we'll have to see on thursday if its better.

Molly you are so kicking butt!!!!

Angela  so happy happy happy to hear from you.  You dont pop in to often anymore.  Im glad your back logging again.  You can do it!!!

Jayne CONGRATS on hitting your goal.  You know that walking is going to speed up that metabolisim of yours and now you'll be unstopable  LOL.
Hiya Maggie welcome and its so good to hear that your having great results.  I find it very helpfull to count cals also.  5 yrs ago I lost 50lbs with this program and kept it off for a while.  I got pregnant and threw it out the window.  Pesky cravings LOL...I started again at the end of july and have lost almost 40 lbs so far.  Keep us posted with your great results.
Happy January!  Sarah that sounds horrible, good to know some relief this morn!  Kiki and I have overdue dentist visits tomorrow, also with new insurance.  What a sweet thing with your daughter - so thoughtful!  Those temp lbs dont have a chance and 160 is on its weigh, er way :D.

Welcome Maggie, it was great to read and see what SB had done for you these years (PCOS here also).  Your heading into a great month to stay remotivated with the promotion of resolutions and great to hear you both already have dropped a few pounds, on your way.

I woke up up temporarily a few hours ago and feeling the urge, applied a nicoderm patch.  When I woke up 2nd time for good though, still reactively glanced around for my ... oh, I dont do that anymore LOL.  Cmon patch do your magic, and by magic I dont mean miracle but the help is like magic.  Dont think I'll have much issue remembering to eat on schedule - nic withdrawl / hunger relationship.
Got a few days without Kiki and heading out for groceries - solo.  With my two walking excursions, will be interesting to see how it goes for this bench sitter who waits on Kiki's shopping.  Think those walks will let me appreciate the use of a cart.

Smokeless day has gone well.  Not those crazy fits I wrote of in my profile or when I was stuck without a car and cigarettes this past week.  The patch - Im in awe of those who go cold turkey.

Interesting that walking with Alice starts Thursday, after weigh in but 1 week prior to next weeks's to see if everything else remaining the same if I get a boost.  I know that math doesnt always work that specifically but will see.
Oh no they didnt!

I leave it up to pick up my SB dinners and last time she only got 3 because she said they only had garlic beef.  Tonight I go and they have 4 SB style pizzas and just one more option - garlic beef but it was empty.  The whole area has been taken over with Healthy choice items.  I managed to pick a Smart Ones beef and aspargus but Im calling over them tomorrow.

Also they didnt have a spot for the Oscar Mayer cubed chicken. Where theyve premade salads and sandwiches, I found precooked chicken made by John Soules Foods.  Bought two styles and after getting them home had to try them.  OMG!  Amazing, it was hard to stop eating it!  Very moist, no processed flavor and an amazing taste.  Here's what they look like if you ever see them, you gotta try them:  LINK & LINK.  I really lucked out the OM brand wasnt available - my new find!

I've been pretty happy with the John Soules Food products I've had... and my wonderful DH just LOVES the Beef Fajita meat!

Hope you find your favorite SB dinners soon!

Morning ladies!!

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Years.  Oh and BTW - Happy New Year!!!!

All is good with me.  Didnt actually put weight on over the christmas, but that is mainly due to the vomiting bug I had on Christmas Day (So there was no Christmas dinner for me :(  !!!) as well as the chest infection that I picked up!!  Have been on antibiotics since the 27th and will finish them tomorrow thankfully!!  Had to get a blood test today, to make sure I'm not run down or anything.............but its mainly to keep my mum happy!!

Oh the up side, Christmas and New Years was great.  My parents met my boyfriends parents for the first time, and everything went great.  And then spent a lovely New Years with my boyfriend.

Congratulations to all of you that reached your Christmas / New Years goals!!!

Losing those last 7lbs are the hardest!!!
Good morning.  Well Im doing great this morning wit the toothache but still need to get to the dentist.  We have no dental insurance.  OMG this is going to come out of my pocket... hope they have a payment plan.  It turns out that we cant get it for a year.  My new years resolution was pay off all medical bills now Im making more.  Oh well!!!

Gina I hope your feeling better now.  Chest infection here to so I feel ya.  Ive been trying to kick it on my own but its not working to well.  So glad you had fun over the holidays.  WOW only 7 more lbs to go.  YOU can DO IT!!!!!

Jayne you are having one heck of a time with your sb products.  You could try the refridgerater wraps from the deli section  I tried the chicken ones yesterday and they were so good.
Great to hear from you Gina and you must be so happy that parents all got to meet!  Not the way we want to avoid gaining weight over holidays but hope that bug is on its way out.

Sarah, sounds painful toothwise and financially!  Off to see the dentist this morn for me and Kiki - with insurance, I still think Im in for a wakeup call.   Keep an eye on that infection - some cant be defeated without medication.

I did see a deli section SB wrap, grilled chicken ceaser, that caught my eye.  Went to the online ads for 3 grocery stores but no SB this week.  Plenty of Lean Cuisines.  Untless its resolved at Walmart, plan to check online ads for Kroger, Alberstons and Tom Thumb.  No luck this week but when I see them, time to stock up.

Molly, surprised youve heard of John Soules Foods - Id never heard of them but they know their stuff!  Plan to pick up a bunch more!

TOMORROW WEIGH IN ANYONE?
I completely agree Jayne!!  Am still so exhausted - cant wait to finish work so that I can curl up in bed!!

Sarah, hope you feel better soon!!  chest infection and tooth ache is not a nice combination so I really feel for you!!  And the insurance thing really sucks for you - hope it works out!!

GOAL...............150

Hello, fellow dieters.  I am starting fresh this New Year trying the South Beach diet.  I have lost probably 40 pounds (I gained about 60-70 5 years ago when I got married).  I would like to lose the rest of that weight plus a little more.  150 is my current goal, but if I get down to there and want to keep going, even better!

I started exercising with a buddy in November and doing a little bit of dieting.  I lost 2 pounds according to the scale, but have gotten several comments that I look slimmer, I think because I am building muscle with the exercise.

My husband and I want to have kids; there are several obstacles but the doctor recommended doing low-sugar and low-starch, not for weight loss (although that is a bonus) but to help with hormones and what not.  So I figured that SB would follow what the doctor ordered AND help me lose the weight I want at the same time.

We are missionaries in Panama in our first term, and I would really like to meet my goal weight by the time we go back to the states for a year in April 2009.  I would LOVE to reach that goal before then, but I also don't want to put unrealistic goals on myself that would then just discourage me.

Sorry this is so long, but just wanted to introduce myself and say, WE CAN DO IT!
