Hey Sarah, so sorry to hear about your dad. Please keep us updated - hope he gets better soon!!!
Why do we gain weight so quickly yet we lose it so slowly??? Ugh... Well, I did it - I weighed myself today. NOT GOOD!!!! 139.6 lbs :'( At least I didn't see the 140's though. I write this as I'm eating my low fat Strawberry Pop-Tarts : ) AND, I'm pretty sure I'm catching Ice's cold - I'm starting to feel like crap this morning, and this is not good b/c I have NO time to be sick. I have Disney, 2 Christmas parties, and a cantata this weekend. UGH!!! So anyway, there's my whiny post for the day. I hope everyone else has a better weigh in today than I did - and keep up the good work everyone!!
Weighin at 234.4 so 2lbs down and Jan1 230 goal still looks good. Early month is normally stronger than later so need this lead to help my chances for month end.
inlove, you are too funny about candi ignoring your posts LOL! No, we do not require any particular eating to continue, SB or dieting. We get to connected here to let anyone go so easily. Plus there but for the grace of god go us so hang in there Dec 26th is coming and the focus will be on health and resolutions anyway to support you.
Champagne one night is one night and the main thing I think it will affect is a lighter eating you *wink*. What a weekend you have - so thats what a social life is. You DO need to kick that cold to the curb - hope it doesnt get the best of you with your pending lineup. I wasnt sure what you were refering to about my situation (as I write about so much :D) and the 19 month old. If it was the veg eating, that practically ended soon as it started since Im waiting on my colonoscopy appt instead.
{{Sarah}} Sorry to learn of your dad. Must be kind of frustrating to be on the sidelines while he's going through that and making decisions that arent helping. Keep us posted on how the new med quantity is coming along.
Velvet, with classes finishing youve the tree and decorations should throw you right into the holiday mood and put thoughts of studies far behind you (hopefully). Sounds like a fun weekend to anticipate!
Hope the water retention dropped for today or is at least on its way out. A week with your new niece and family sounds like real holdiay celebration. Lots of time to enjoy whats important.
Weighed in at 133 today. 1.5lbs down, yay!! I increased my protein intake so I think that (and the water) helped.
Sarah- sorry to hear about your dad. Hope he's able to get the help he needs and get better.
Inlove- sorry u're catching my flu :( Eat lots of fruits, and get some EmergenC. That thing works wonders! Sounds like you're gonna have loads of fun for the holidays. Enjoy!
Velvet- good luck on your exams too. I have the last one today (i'm actually on a study break right now), and I can't wait for it to be done and over with!
Weighed in at 164 this morning, so my bender is slowly but surely coming off. It's almost TOM, so I'm hoping for a big whoosh after that's over. I think I am also starting to get sick, which really makes me unhappy. Ice, you're right, EmergenC does work wonders!!
Sarah, I am sorry to hear about your dad. I really know how you feel. My dad had a heart "scare" a couple months back and he has been recently diagnosed with diabetes II. It's scary when that kind of stuff starts happening to your parents. I hope your dad will be OK, I'm sure he will.
I always look forward to that whoosh, Briana! Its the reward of dealing with the scale during TOM. I show your first post here at 173 so despite your 'bender' youve still got your progress and like you said, its getting behind you.
Another low Ice - awesome! I dont know your height but the 130s seem so low that it seems like it would be harder to drop each additional lb but youve been steadily chipping away at them.
Ice - I am officially done and on break and I believe I am actually walking a way with all A's for this term. I am all set for next just have to go next thursday to get my books. How did your last final go?
Sun - Yes it should be a good weekend to get things done and bring me right into the Holiday spirit. I need it as Christmas is my favorite time of the year.
I didnt weigh in today as well I have a nice boyfriend and all but I also have an awful EX who's family still lives in town and he comes to town to visit, well I unfortunately had an a run in with him and his new blonde skinny girlfriend. Why it bugs me after 2 years I dont know, I think because I ended things becuase he was not OK with my weight, it was a BIG deal for him. Sorry for venting!
Hello everyone, I'm new to cc and just found your group. I have been doing south beach since nov 8 2008 and I am lovin it! I'm down 14lbs with about 75more to go but this has been the best plan I have been on. I'm 47 and a nurse and one of the docs reccomended this plan to me so here I am.
Hi painted and what great loss youve have!! I agree - best diet Ive tried (and Ive tried my share). I hope you return to post - would love to continue hearing from you as the remaining lbs drop.
{{Velvet}} I can see how that would be a downer but maybe the reminder of how great to have a boyfriend who doesnt make you weight a major issue. Just think of those conversations you ex had with you about it and remind yourself you dont have to listen to that negativity anymore.
Up all night decorating another cake with Alice. The scale has been doing great things so if it will hang onto it through Thursday or continue this movement, I'll be very happy. Dont want to jinx myself so wont say more.
Welcome Paint!
Sun - Your right and I remind myself ALL the time! I miss cake decorating, my family and I use to do that alot for Holidays but now we are all scattered and dont get to do it much anymore. Sounds like you had a fun time and I cant wait to hear what the scale has been doing!
I am done with cleaning and on to carpet shampooing and then this week will be tree decorating and then just enjoy! I am also hoping to squeeze going to see Christmas Lights in sometime this week, the put a list in our paper and I use to do that all the time with a group of friend in Ohio so I am adding that to the list. I hopefully have burned some calories off with all this cleaning and moving! It was great It's a wonderful life was on while I was cleaning and that is one of my favorite holiday movies!
Hope everyone is enjoying there weekend!
Welcome Painted:)
Sun- I'm 5'5', and, yes, those last few lbs take forever to go. I was down to 112 at one point in college cause I didn't have a car and I walked everywhere. But I know I'll probably never get back to that point (not that I want to really). Just want to get to a comfortable healthy weight and stay there. Cake decorating- sounds like you had fun. I love baking and decorating cakes, unfortunately, it's only the two of us, so my husband and I end up eating a whole cake in a matter of days (not good, not for me anyways!)
Velvet- the last final was hard! but I think I did pretty good tho:) I tried registering for classes for next semester like a month ago, but all the classes were full. Hoping I can get in over the break, cuz I know a lot of pple are gonna drop after they get their grades. Have fun on your break:)
My husband and I finally got some time for ourselves now that we're on our break. We went to see the Nutcraker and had dinner at a really nice restaurant last night. The food was delicious, best I've had out in quiet a while. Needless to say, I cheated. But I have no regrets cause it was such a wonderful night:)
Have a great weekend, everyone!
That cake in the house example - Ive a new hungry girl recipe that sounds interesting but I dont want to have them all at the house so if I try it, would do so to bring to christmas eve party. Crazy easy - those phyllo shells and yes, a snickers bar. You cut the bar lengthwise and then in fifths for 10 pieces. Drop one in a phyllo shell and back for chocolate tarts less than 50cal each. Here's hoping to some of those classes finding openings.
With a couple days, safe to report myself at 229-230. Weird in a good way big early jump on the month as 339 was my Dec 1 weigh in and 230 was my Jan 1 goal and 220 for Feb 1. This big loss jump could end up causing me to plateau later month - will have to see but with Feb 6 trip nearing, can hope that I continue steady.
Velvet, got to love Wonderful life - a real holiday mood setter. Thinking your home is cleaner than clean and Christmas festive. Sure there was a workout from all the home updates.
Good morning, everyone!
I was happy to read that you're all doing well during this holiday season. With all of the temptations out there, I'm just really proud of you all : ) Especially Ice and Velvet. School, Working, AND dieting - wow!!! : ) Do you mind if I ask what you're going to school for?? I'm only curious b/c I'm thinking about going back to school for nursing. I have a BS is *boring* Business Administration. I have never taken any nursing classes, but I think I would love to be a labor & delivery nurse or a nurse practitioner.
Sun, thanks for making me feel better about the champagne I plan on drinking on New Year's Eve : ) Great job on your 229-230 - you're just consistently losing weight - what an inspiration!!
Welcome to the thread, Painted!! Everyone here is great - congrats on your 14 lbs loss!! What kind of nurse are you?? That's funny that one of the doctors recommended South Beach to you... I am seriously considering seeing a doctor to have them nail down a specific diet and exercise plan. But maybe I won't if they are just going to tell me to try South Beach : ) I have been cheating horribly and gaining weight like crazy... I will start hard core on 12/26.
Well...nothing really new from me. Hope to hear from you all soon!! xoxo
Inlove- I went back to school to take prereq classes for dentistry. I have a BS in Hospitality Management (Restaurant & Foodservice Management major), and I started my masters in Accounting, but didn't want to do that for the rest of my life. I took a very long break to decide what area I wanted to get into, after about 3 years, I settled on dentistry. I always liked healthcare, but didn't want to be an MD.
Nursing is a great field to get into because of the shortage. It can get tough sometimes with long hours, etc, but it's worth it. I'd say go for it. You're young, so now is the time to do it. Try to get a good idea of what the job is like by shadowing/observing at a hospital (if they'll let u) before you commit yourself to it. Good luck:)
Hi guys! Today at the cardio dr I got a Rx for support stockings (since there are different pressures) and have some tests done on my circulation since my calves still are swollen despite my weightloss. Funny thing was I didnt get the support socks and then found out they would have been bad because they end under the knee and I need something at least thigh high (or full stockings). The weird part is I will be measured for them.
I had some weird low weights - 226 Sunday and today 224. I started wondering about my scale but at the dr, with clothes I was 226 so okay with the scale. This is so weird because at 239 Dec 1 and based on my history hoped for 230 Jan 1st and 220 Feb 1. I had rethought to shoot for 225 Jan 1 but now pausing to see what Jan 1 brings and work from there. I dont expect this pace to keep up though but temporarily, appreciating the bump. Just in time for the Jan2008 - Jan2009 thread I participate in.
Inlove, SB may be recommended because of the health focus but betting if you explain your struggle the dr should be able to suggest another healthy plan. Does any prior diet plan stand out as one thats worked well for you? And do you think its the diet or the time of year thats a factor? Whatever plan you go with, your still welcome here!
Quick update - 227.0 this morn so that 224 must have been a fluke but now comfortable to set low 220s as a year end goal.
Thinking our scholars are enjoying there free time. Ice, any luck with picking up classes or is it too early yet? Velvet, hoping your intensive weekend is to show up on the scale if it hasnt already. Sarah - you out there? Painted, hope to hear how SB is treating you! Havent forgot you, Briana - that cold still hanging around? Inlove, any special plans for your Dec 26 kickoff day? Sun, do - aw I dont need to ask myself anything :D. Dr. Agaston - do they know we are on SB because its awful cold!
Ice , I think I may have confused you with another CC-er trying to pick up classes.
I met a fav old coworker for lunch yesterday. I worked for him at my last job, and another company prior to our department being bought. It made me think to visit coworkers at both employers. A person from the old company had called him, not knowing I was meeting him for lunch, to mention my weight loss. That was a cool feeling - people talking about you in a positive way (not just looking better but not being at the health risk I was). One employee actually didnt recognize me - you know that look in someones face when something registers. That was pretty funny and the only time thats ever happened.
Sun- you were right. I am trying to pick up classes- no luck as yet. Still trying to find something, anything to take that will meet the requirements.
I've been hanging off the back of the SB wagon lately. I do fine for the majority of the day, but fall off when it gets to dinner. I used to cook religiously on the weekends when I had school, but now I just want to relax and veg, so I find myself eating the quick stuff my husband would eat (like mashed potatoes & stuffing) instead of making my brown rice and veggies. I was 134 this morning (it's the end of TTOM), I actually went up to 137 at the start and I paniced that day. Hoping to get back to 133 or below soon.
My mother came yesterday, so I'm gonna be playing chauffeur for the next few days. I have to work on Sunday, and on Monday we're all leaving to visit my brother. Still haven't sent out Christmas cards, and trying to finish all loose ends before I leave. I have to bake tons of Christmas cake and give to friends and family (Christmas tradition back home), so I'll probably will be doing that tonight. Plus I have to work on doing gifts for everyone in my office. It's gonna be hectic the next few days, so you probably won't hear from me that often, but I will post when I can.
165 this morning. The cold is still lingering but not as bad I guess. I haven't really been working out because I feel so drained. Plus I'm knitting scarves for Christmas and really struggling to get those done. Sad thing is, I don't think knitting burns that many calories. :)
I was down to 162, but then once TOM started I lost my resolve when we had a work potluck and there were all sorts of delicious carbs and sweets. When I started this, I was all self-righteous thinking the holidays would be no problem and I could avoid the "bad stuff." Yeah, easier said than done, I'm afraid. Oh well, tomorrow is another day.
Saturday I am flying to Minneapolis where it's 0. So I know Saturday will be nothing but airports and convenience food, but I'll try to do the best I can.
I hope everyone has a great holiday!
Hey Everyone! I have been sick for a couple of weeks now and yesterday was my first day back to normalcy. I didn't exercise for like 2 weeks so I was barely able to go for 30 minutes before I had to stop. I got completely winded lol. I've been having holiday parties left and right between the office and extended family.
The diet however is still going good. I have lost another lb so I am down to 130.6 now. So close I can taste it! Five more lbs and I can go on maintenance. Gosh I am so grateful to this diet. I never thought I would reach my weight goal because I had tried so many times before, but now it seems so possible and everybody has been so positive.
I am thinking about enrolling in a self defense class soon. Anybody have any experience with that? I tend to go for the fight when it comes to fight or flight and it would probably be useful to actually know how to fight back. =)
Congrats to everybody on their success! What an inspiration to see so many working for the same goal.
11:30pm - almost didnt make Thursday weighin because Ive been sleeping since like 4pm - guess who'll be up all night or should I say morning. 227.4, higher than lately although its about right time for TOM. Still, I was at weird lows and this is still a big drop from last week 234.4. On Nov 6th I was 253 which is almost an average of 4 lbs weekly, something I hadnt seen since I was in the 400s. Best holiday gift evar :P.
Ozma - youve been missed! You certainly are doing well with managing those parties and still losing - must be exciting to be so close to goal. Looking forward to see you on phase3 - only know SBers from this thread and interested to see how it will be in anticipation of it.
Brianna - how long will be you be in MN? This summer, I remember being at the airport thinking so what will I eat? Price and calories - ugh! Ended up at BK with their lowest cal breakfast (and there all on croissants, groan) but they had and egg and cheese, which I believe was right around 300cal. You'll see 162 again and 165 is only a lb off from last week so not bad :D.
Ice - just a thought, John Soules makes pregrilled chicken bagged that I think taste much better than other brands and of course good cold or micro'd. Plus its convenient - I barely cook anyway. I cant imagine having to bake cakes - Im not a cake person at all except when theyre baking, oh that smell is killer! With all your family fun, will appreciate any time you have to update us.
