Sorry I've been MIA. Had friends in town for the weekend, so I was busy entertaining them. Still trying to get pass this plateau by running and eating properly, figure I'll get there someday. My legs are starting to look super strong now, still a little cellulite and and there to take care of.
Gonna be busy with school in the week, and the next fews weeks are gonna be hectic as I have other friends and my mother coming to visit...will definitely pop in when I can.
Sunshine- try Peter Pan No Sugar Added peanut butter and Polaner Sugar Free jelly products...awesome!
Hope everyone is having a good Monday!
Today was a short day at school and now just have to get in my daily walk and I will be able to relax the rest of the day, ok well not totally but will not have any pending things that must be done.
Ice - You will get through the plateau, sometimes they just take a while. Have you been keeping track of your inches? Sometimes you may not lose pounds but you could be melting away inches which is just as important.
So nice after the exercise is done Wobbley - knowing its in for the day. My activity has slowed as has my losing but forced much walking in today and already feeling less better. Usually the month starts strong but plan to build up for later month.
Wednesday have a liquid diet for Thursday colonocopy - my first. Thinking must eat well tomorrow and not looking forward to the lack of food but conviently the day before weigh in LOL!
Wishing that day soon for you ice - those plateaus can only hold out so long. Being proactive like you are is a great push for them.
Sun - I hope your doing well and good luck with your colonoscopy on Wednesday.
Today I didnt do well with my food choices but I am going to get some extra exercise in and hope it doesnt cause to much of a problem. Calories are not so much my problem as the sodium so I worry more about it.
Hope everyone is having a good day!
Velvet - Im so glad youve posted a photo - youre so pretty and no longer a mystery woman :D. Yes sodium - Tuesday night knowing I was going into a fast after midnight, I ate out. Chili's guiltless chicken platter which came with corn on the cob (hey, I remember corn). It had a suspiciously buttered salty taste - not necessary. If I ate out more often, I'd probably more conscious to remember to address how I wanted food prepared but thankfully the brocolli was neither salty or buttery and they subbed more brocolli for the rice.
Well, survived the night. The bathroom no biggie but consuming that gallon of salt water - hell. So it drained every last liquid and food from me and realizing my weigh-in therefore is a bit strong but at 215.0 so I'll take it (knowing I may be at the same next week without the canal drainage LOL).
Supposedly I'll return home later from the colonoscopy drugged up - hope to peek in tonight.
Sun, Hope the procedure went well. I don't think I would ever be able to drink that stuff without puking. As it is, I barely drink anything at all, I would never be able to put down that much liquid.
So-I got back from home again on Tuesday night, and Wednesday morning got dressed up for work, having a sneaking suspicion that "something" was up there. Lo, and behold, I got in and was laid off. I knew it!!! Stupid economy. They did offer me another position in another dept, but it is definitely a completely different job, and while I am usually a super-flexible person and can roll with the punches, I am not sure the newer job meshes with my lifestyle. I feel lucky to have the opportunity, but I am not ready to make a decision yet.
Meanwhile, through the funerals, and the lay off, my diet has been seriously thwarted. Haven't been grocery shopping in ages, and eating out ALL the time. I have tried to maintain some sense of diet decorum, but it has been extremely difficult. Thus, I must admit, in the last week: 3 bagels, 2 rolls, 5 cookies, and several hand fulls of potato chips, not to mention several secret delicious swigs of REAL coke. I can't lie-it was amazing.
Luckily, I don't seem to have gained any weight back, but it feels like it, so I am trusting the feeling rather than the scale. I am trying super hard to get back on track, and I packed a very south beachy lunch for today that will hopefully get me there again. I still won't be able to grocery shop until Sunday probably, thanks to my crazy schedule. :(
Hope everyone's Thursdays are shaping up to be good days so far!
LB
I had my bag for when I was picked up ready - nuts, SF pudding, triscuits, just options. I ended up surprisingly not particularly hungry but later went out to lunch again - surprising 2x in a week, so unlike me. It was crab legs and glad to have that salty meal a whole week from next weigh-in.
Good luck Elbie with SB following that good lunch. I know what eating out can do and lucky you if the off track eating doesnt show up on you - hoping so for ya! Funny how you sensed something about your job only to get the bad news. Im like that - adaptable but understand some new position just arent a 'fit'. Still, with the job market as it is definitely a good option until that ideal position comes along.
Any weighins for today?
Sun - Yes I figured it was time to show the face LOL, Glad things went well for you.
I have been so busy with school that I have not had time to check in and my eating hasnt been the best, so I went shopping today and got good handy foods so that way I am not tempted to eat crap. More so it is keeping the sodium low because it is just evil on me LOL
Hope everyone is having a good Friday!
One luxury I have is being able to keep my house 'clean'. Out of sight, out of mind. How is school going, Velvet? Those good foods should be a start to a weekend of good eating.
My daughter has moved back in with me - she's 17-1/2. She works like crazy so if not at school, at the job. She understands that Im not keeping unhealthy food in the house and is used to buying her own food with her dad plus eats at the restaurant but theres still plenty here for her - she just anti-healthy food unfortunately. She does like the brown rice though and more than me. Plus her boyfriend is always taking her to eat. Wish I could get her on board but with our prior struggles, not worth the fight (which I always lose anyway - you cant force eating on someone making their own money).
Yeah Im on SB too the last time I was here talking about it was about 3 and a half weeks ago, I am past phase 1 and now im on phase 2.
I have tried my hardest not to cheat. lol
Hi Ladies,
just checking in. The last few days haven't been as good as I would want foodwise cause I need to go grocery shopping, and I haven't been running in a few days. I'm been at the same weight (135) for a while now, and yes, Velvet you were right, I've lost inches. Guess the leg muscles has replaced the fat, and I'm soo not complaining:)
Elbie- I'm sorry to hear that you got laid-off. Hope you find something soon. Just try to stay positive. (I know that's easier said than done).
Sun- hope your colonoscopy went well, and you're getting some rest.
Velvet- loving the pic, very cute:) Hope the semester's going good so far. Keep up the good work with avoiding the sodium. Make sure you drinks lots of water to flush your system if you do end up with a bad day...
Sazzie- sounds like you're doing great. Try keeping some SB friendly sugar-free goodies on hand to snack on when you feel the need to cheat. I saw some SB Oatmeal Chocolate chip cookies at the supermarket the other day... those used to be really good.
Have a great weekend, everyone!
How did phase1 go for you, Sazzie? It can be nice to jumpstart the weightloss so hope it treated you well :D. Now that youre introducing the carbs, hoping there arent any cravings starting. Stay strong and continued success to you!
Ice - good to hear your update. Probably hasnt been that long but have been wondering about you. Sounds like your body has tightened up. The scale is such an easy way to measure weight but its representing what we're looking for - smaller size so lost inches are the bottom line. Congrats!
Elbie, hoping the job isnt ruining your weekend but can see how it could be weighing heavy on you. Are you still considering the other position or will you be seeking a replacement employer? At my last job, my coworkers were great but the company had purchased ours so hated the new drive. The layoff was still a blow but now Im with the best employer ever - my best friend and work from home. Wishing you a silver lining in your job situation :D
My daughter came home last night with her pay minus $40. She gave me the rest to put in her brand new bank account. Very new for this spend, spend girl and really hope she sticks to this. She turns eighteen July and really will feel more secure if I feel she gets this saving thing down. She's being set up on direct deposit so thinking she's serious.
Have to share my Walmart story. Last night checking out I was behind a very friendly older couple with a dog who I learned was for mobility impaired (didnt know they existed). She had a walking cane and was rehabilitating it after it had been hit by a car.
I told her 2 years ago I could barely walk because of obesity (we'd seen each other early in the store as it was very late so she knew I could walk freely). She asked me how much and I did the math to realize with Thursday's weighin I'd lost 250 lbs (50 more until goal). She smiled huge and then hugged me. I was so taken aback (in a good way) that she would extend herself and be so happy since she didnt otherwise know me. What a warm person and made my night!
Sun,
I've been bouncing in and out of this thread for 2 years now, fighting with the same 10lbs, and I just want to tell you that I looked at your profile pics and you're truly an inspiration. Awesome! You are getting so tiny, lady! Kick those last 50lbs in the butt. If you can lose 300lbs, then I can lose 20lbs. thanks for your story.
-violet
Ive got the worst memory ever but I remember you because I love the name violet! Thanks for your kind and encouraging words - Im so ready to send them packing :D. Thanks for commenting - good to hear from you again!!
Hello!
I just started SB on 12/14... and ive done some modifications.
I always count calories, and do away with red meats. Half the time when I read the SB book, theres just SO much food that they want you to eat a day. I just can't eat it all! Working out is key also. Then I stayed on phase one for about 1 month.
So far (i didn't want to weigh myself since aunt flow is here and water retention) but ive lost 28lbs in 5 weeks! I have a lot more to go, but I feel confident that I will reach it by the end of this year.
:)
misskay, what a great kickoff to your weightloss youve gotten through. Its been very kind to me - I started on it at 465 and that was 250 lbs ago back in June 2007.
SB. Its not uncommon for members who've been on the thread to modify SB - I have as Im insulin resistant so I dont eat as many carbs as its easier to control my blood sugar but the recommended good carbs are ones I dont react to as much. Thats a great thing about SB - it lends itself to modification while still allowing weight loss. We weigh in on Thursdays if your interested.
December was great with my biggest loss for sometime but January seemed a bit sluggish (probably as a result) so although I hit 215 Thursday again, I was concerned about seeing 217 when yesterday I saw 214.6. Not even half a lb but it made me so happy I started saying aloud, Its happening its happening! No one here to hear me LOL but basically that plateau was given a push and looking forward to an under 215 Thursday (even if just by a bit).
That's amazing! I pick and choose the carbs I eat, usually it consists of a high fiber cereal (as a snack before working out) but I also found this amazing website that is all recipes on SB, and they are really really good! Some of you might of heard it before, but ill post the link anyways :)
MissKay- welcome and congrats on your weight loss:) I love that website... lots of recipes when I need something to change up the routine. I love the cucumber-avocado salad and the black bean salsa! The egg muffins were really convenient for those days when you're running late and don't have time to make breakfast.
The good thing about SB is that you don't have to follow the meal plan to the letter, but once you have the basics down (eating several small protein and fiber filled meals a few hours apart) you should be fine.
Violet- Sun has been a great inspiration to many of us on this site, sometimes when I feel like I'm stuck (I still have 10lbs to go, been at the same weight for a few weeks now) I think of her and how far she's come. Hope you stay with us and kick those 20lbs.
Misskay - Im not a recipe person, Im too undisciplined to 'cook' but have heard good things about Kalyns site. In this thread's OP, clicking where it says "LINK 56) will bring you to a post with other SB friendly recipes (its been a while, hoping they all still work). The freedom and ease of SB as Ice well points out - picking selections and its adaptability - is what makes it so promising to me after that maintenance day arrives.
Ice - I feel like this thread was fate. As the weight comes off, Im going to have to relearn the peristance thats involved those lbs that can creep on and members like yourself in the smaller range of loss have been a real lesson in not reversing "gain it all back" which is such a problem for dieters, me especially. When youve been as large as me, 10 or even 50 lbs in comparison could seem fine but reading day to day of the commitment to get those lbs off should they come back on - its a focus I needed. Course my goal is to keep them from returning period. I just dont want to lose site if they do before it snowballs. Also, when your bigger it comes off easier and Ive learned from the persistance when your so low the scale isnt easily delivering those losses.
