Just wanting to check in, sounds like everyone is doing great!

Sun - what a great story!

Ice - glad you lost inches as they makes a big difference

I just relaxed this weekend and got some extra walking in and I have today off from school, so I will run some errands.  My nutrition class is very involved and so it is keeping me very busy, along with my other classes.

Hope you all have a great start to the week!

Tonya

Hi everyone-

Yep, I'm still laid off, and still have not made a decision about the other job they offered. I have yet to actually speak with the person running that department, and I am not getting a very welcoming vibe, so I am probably going to say no and take my chances elsewhere. It is sad, but I am not really willing to sacrifice more of my personal life for a harder job with the same amount of $. I'd rather work less and make less for a better quality of life. Luckily my hubby does well :) I'm thinking about getting my dog to work for me----maybe she can be a dog model? LOL. She is actually gorgeous, and whenever we are out together, she is always the most popular dog anywhere we go. I'm a proud mama!

Anyway, it seems I have lost another 1/2 pound as of today, which puts me 5.5 pounds to go until my goal! I think I am going to start getting more physical, now that I have the diet down pat-hoping it will make that 5.5 pounds shed a bit faster and stay away longer!

Congrats to all for all the loss! Way to go!

LB

Yay on your loss, Elbie.  So close to goal and chipping away at those last few.  Good to see the job concerns arent causing stress eating.  Knowing how little you have left and thinking that higher activity will not only help you narrow in on it but aid you in keeping it off.

Its a tough on the job front (Im a recruiter and clients arent bending over backwards to pay for employees when candidates are already banging down their doors). Glad to hear your hubby is keeping this from being a hardship for you.  Wonder how the market is for dog models :D.  Personally Ive secretly want to make a killing (or just steady income) on ebay. When Ive purchased, I can see by some sellers listings and history this is a dependable paycheck for them.  Ive made a few hundred over time but on random stuff. The thing is to find a niche, something that moves steadily with an audience for it.  That plus a zillion things are on my to-do list (life of the procrastinator).

I weighed in at 215 last week and luckily havent seen that sneaky 217 again but I was supposed to be at 215 which means 212.5 this Thursday. Not looking as optimistic but staying strong with my eating.

Elbie - I think it sounds like your making a good decision on not doing more work for the same pay, especially if it leaves you less time for your self and your loved ones and since your hubby does ok, it isnt super urgent.  Plus it gives you alittle time to focus on you and that can always be nice.

Sun - that is great on your 215!

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Weighed in at 214.0, just a lb from last week but since prior to that weighin 217 kept sneaking up on me, I'll be happy to see it again 214 in the morning for Thursday weighin.

My daughter moved all her bags of stuff in yesterday. I dont remember her having so much when she left LOL but knowing its the same stuff.  Groceries getting low but grilled a bunch of chicken breast which will hold me.  Looking at an extending my weekend vacation this summer so starting early to tighten even tighter until.

Still have my old 1st of month signs up for Dec, Jan, Feb and March.  It was to motivate me for my Feb 6 trip but that was before December was so crazy lucky so Im 10 lbs ahead of the game (Feb 1st is showing 220). Yet Im determined to drop a full 10 to 210 for that trip - got to capitalize on that :D.

Woke up to a shocker - the scale said 211.4 but skeptical, got on the Wii and it said 212.2 so Im going with that for Thursday weigh-in.  I wasnt expecting that but now hopeful for my Feb 6 trip to hit 210.

Got an email back from an old friend who I mentioned my weight loss to. She was very happy for me and also interested in info because although always fit, she is helping with a weight loss group at her church. Of course, will mention CC as I know the support here and community of equally minded members has been a major part of my success. Also will advise of how well SB has helped me but still believe we must use whats worked for us.

Hope the eatings going well and happy Thursday everyone!

Hi all-So I decided to officially NOT take the other job being offered, and started to pursue other opportunities. Luckily, I landed an interview right away, and have already accepted another job! Woo-hoo! I'll start teh first week of Feb. I'm super excited as it is a more flexible position, with interesting benefits (other than health), and opportunity for growth! In fact, there is a full kitchen in the offices, which will hopefully motivate me to bring healthy snacks and lunches and not eat out during lunch. Yay!

Unfortunately, with the stress of having guests recently (sis left earlier this week) and the idea that I might be looking for work for a while, I think I put a couple ponds back. I'm not sure, because my weigh day is Monday, but I feel it in my pants. The belly is protruding a bit more than last week, let's just say. Also, I have had a headache for about 3 days now-probably weather and stress related, and hoping not diet related. I think I might hop back on phase one a week and see if it helps the belly issue. I really don't want to ruin what I have done already!!! I keep getting compliments about how much thinner I look, and I want to keep them coming!!!

Sun-you rock!!! Keep playing with Wii for sure! I gotta get motivated and get active again. Have a good weekend everyone!

LB

Whoa Elbie - in this employers market you found a job this quickly and one that sounds like an upgrade. How thankful are you for passing up that other department at the old job?!  Let that new kitchen help you get those pants loosen back again as things have turned around so well for you, keep up that momentum! So recent, you can nip it in the bud and continue forth.

A 215 peeked on the scale but not concerned. I was wavering between it and 217 so will settle for 212-215 especially with TOM approaching.  But afterwards expect it to be moving! Went to Fiesta mexican grocery - there produce pricing is unbelievable. Six small apples a dollar and with my reaction to fruit, I always aim for the smallest pieces anyway.  Three small pears a dollar too plus other buys. Tightening my belt on spending so didnt buy much but got to eat and cant pass up that.

Good eating all!

elbie - Congrats on the new job, that is great you found another one so quickly and that it is an upgrade to what you had before.

Sun - That is a great price on fruit.  I eat alittle bit of fruit but sometimes the sugar triggers me to crave sweets.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Funny but bananas which I understand are higher glycemic than certain fruits arent so bad on me as apples, pears and oranges. I suspect its because its the 'juiciness' factor that might send the sugar more easily to my bloodstream.  Yet I buy bananas one at a time because their more of a taste temptation.

On expirement now. Had a regualar packet unflavored oatmeal with splenda, cinnamon & vanilla (my fav trio of sweet flavor condiments) this morning.  I surprisingly saw packets on sale individually at a BigLots (maybe a broken box) so grabbed three.  Not a SB issue as much as carb hunger issue for me. Ive done well with cream of wheat and though I prefer it to oatmeal, if this doesnt has me craving in a while will have another carb option.

Pasta - forget it, BIG time after cravings.  Brown rice has been okay too although not the biggest fan. My daughter really likes it - she must not be aware its healthy LOL.

Even though at eight, Alice had a spread and I arrived late - nine. Very user friendly - grilled chicken, grilled flank steak which I hadnt had prior  - OMG! Maybe the marinade because it clearly was lean. Also a raw veg platter - always nice to find at a spread.

Sun - That is funny you say that about apples and such, I am the same way, I usually get bananas over other fruits and they are high on the glycemic but I think that is also because 1 banana is two servings of fruit where most others like apples, pears and oranges are one serving.

I agree on carb cravings, I have to watch what I eat and pasta is one for me too.  I love cream of wheat and oatmeal so all that sounds very yummy.

Flank steak is great especially marinated, I have found a food vendor near school who will grill you flank steak or chicken with veggies or rice or both for like $5 and it has been a healthier alternative for me to eating crap at school.

I am not a big fan of brown rice, I usually just skip rice because the white triggers carb cravings and the brown just doesnt do it for me.

I have been getting some extra walking in and with the low calories hoping to finally get things going again.  I have just been avoiding the scale so I dont think about it too much.

Hope everyone has a great start to their week!

Tonya

Hey all-

I'm back!!  Survived the visit with the friend surprisingly unscathed, thanks to extra exercise with her walking around the parks.  Then, the day she left, family flew in- and took me out to dinner the next 5 nights in a row.  Sigh.  I tried to stay good during the day and was successful some nights...except the night where we went out for Italian.  Ahhh, pasta, how I miss you!!  And alcohol was extra tasty for some reason, too. (My family is Italian and consumes copious amounts of red wine)

Sun-  Hope your colonoscopy went well and you survived the liquid diet, ugh.  The oatmeal sounds delish.

Velvet- Love the pic!

Elbie- I can' tell you how happy I am for you/jealous that you found another job so quickly.  What field are you in?  It's taken me over 3 months to find retail management work and I'm going crazy.  Best of luck with your new opportunity!

So I remain throughout those tough 2 weeks at the same weight before my friend flew in- 126 lbs, no gain, no loss.  I'm going back to phase 1 (started today) for about 2 weeks or so, and hopefully will drop at least 3 more lbs.  My old jeans fit again- yay!  And good news all- I have a final interview for a job that I REALLY REALLY want on Tues- so keep your fingers crossed!

--Sunshine

Welcome back sunshine! Maintaining sounds pretty good for 5 days of restaurants with family. I think good as I might have eaten, the sodium alone wouldve bumped me.  My grandparents moved here from Italy so growing up little meat, heavy pasta meals were common.  Hoping phase1 shakes things up for you - stay strong and best wishes on it!

Velvet - youre doubling up with the additional walking and calorie restriction, setting yourself up for success! Im not good at staying away from the scale but see how not to let that play with your focus because it could show your results but also could hold out and you dont want discouragement from the great work your doing and the payoff it will bring.

If carbs werent problem enough prior with my insulin resistance, they were also an excuse to overconsume butter which Ive not touched in forever.  Pasta? Butter and parmesean.  Rice? Butter, salt and pepper. Bread? Butter, butter, butter.  Can just imagine the percentage of calories I was getting from fats. Its regretable quality of life price I WAS willing to pay for taste, such a fleeting experience when alternative healthy preferences were available.  Im detest regret though so learning and continuing forward.

Im glad to hear everyone is doing good! It's been a while since ive written anything but going to school/work full time, i never have time for myself! Luckily I can fit in 2 hour workouts a day :)

So far (as of this saturday) since 12/14 I've lost 31lbs :) It feels pretty good, but i have a looong way to go! I actually had to buy new jeans and workout pants, and they are ranging from 1 1/2-2 sizes lower from when i started!

So im pretty excited!! Definetely came from hard work!

Hey all-lots of successes for everyone I see-YAY!

Sunshine Lisa-good luck with that interview. I got super lucky, and I totally chalk it up to right place/right time because apparently he had been advertising the job for a couple months and had only gotten unqualified resumes. Now, that being said, I admit, I am overqualified for the job in a way, and he knows he is getting me at a real bargain, but I was just happy to get a job in the first place. This is an office management job for a conference planning company-however my background is in non-profit organizations, so this is a switch, but I am happy with my decision so far!

So my weigh in day was today and it looks like I am still at 141. Whcih is fine, I thought it was going to say 144 or 145. I have been feeling really tummy bloated lately. I know I am losing because my boobs are definitely smaller (not a good thing-they are tiny to begin with!) and my butt seems to fill out my pants less-but my stomach still feels huge. I'm really hoping I can officially go down a pants size soon, but not with this tummy! I have been eating out A LOT, but trying super hard to be good. Last night I had grilled salmon and grilled zucchini. Both were pretty flavorful, so I am sure had enough sodium to melt some northern ice...could be why I feel so bloated.

I think this week is the beginning of my 7th week dieting and I have lost 7 pounds. I REALLY hope I can kick it into gear and get rid of that 6 pounds I have left. It would be awesome if by next week's weigh in  I could see a magical #3 in the second number of my weight!

Sunshine- Welcome back and way to maintain with eating out.  That would be rough eating out every night.

Elbie- glad your liking your new job so far.

Sun - I agree with you on the butter, I dont touch anymore.  I would use it on all my carbs stuff.

I have been doing good with extra exercise and keeping calories low.  I am hoping that pays off in the long run.  That was alays the hardest for me was with sodium not being my friend and I retain water so easily I would get discouraged because I would be eating low calories and exercising and yet the scale would not move, I know that is also how i got into this slump, because I let my self get discouraged and I am trying not to let that happen this time around.

Velvet - sounds like your focused on motivation. You know our smaller selves are over there depending on us to wade through any plateaus and water retention to perservere through.  Important though to pick up on things like salt or any other thing that personally sabatoges us.  I allow myself to get frustrated sometimes but limit my pity parties because Ive got places to go (and I get to wear smaller clothes when I get there :D).

I know some say a food elimination is a bad thing but butter - I dont even want to consider controlling it. If its not an issue for someone, great but I dont even want to play with it.

Elbie, looks like that concern was for naught - no gain! Know those restaurant meals can really pump the sodium so you may have some stomach bloat since youve been being good.  Keep those liquids up to help rid yourself of the water and water-retaining salt. Always thought it was funny if your retaining water, drink more but had to learn that its getting the body hydrated so it doesnt retain and ridding that salt which worsens it. Knowing its tougher when your body so close to goal weight but you can do it!!  Wishing you 3s ~

Miss kay, you sound so busy! My high school senior runs in for just seconds before heading to her job which she works almost fulltime.  Realize how hard it is for her to get anything else at all done.  She moved her bags  in over a week ago and most are still packed as she wants to set up her stuff.  You have had great progress losing and can imagine how nice it is in when that that items two size smaller fits.  Hard work but nice payoff.

Picking up photos in the afternoon taken with me and daughter. She gets portraits every summer but our last portrait together was over 10 years ago.  It was a lot of fun posing and I had two done by myself which I only had done over 10 years ago (the one in my profile back when I weighed 145).  Over 10 years I gained more than 300 lbs.  With 250 gone in 1-1/2 years, feels like Im spinning back the clock.

its very hard, but completely worth it for my health! :)

hopefully i still keep a steady pace of losing, it doesnt help that the treadmills and my gym are all broken!

I dont remember the last time i had butter haha.

I am working on motivation as I feel like I am losing that and I need to regain it to keep plugging along and to get where I want to be.

misskay - I agree I cant remember when I last had butter, I am very use to not using it or needing it or wanting it.

Sun - sounds like your daughter is very busy and how nice to get new portraits done.  That sounds like it was a very fun day!

I have to say the hardest thing is resturants. i look at the things they put in everything and it disgusts me! Sad to say i never go eat out anymore with the fear of consuming insane amounts of sodium, calories, fat etc etc. Let alone my issues with butter haha. I guess ive become super anal!  :)
