You have to be becareful when you eat out because they do put a ton of stuff in there food and it takes the calories, fat and sodium to out of control amounts. If I am going to go out to eat I check to see if they have a menu online and check there nutrtion info because a salad in a restaurant is not even safe.
Velvet - arent online menus great! Especially for decision challenged folks like me :D. Cant decide to begin with and then getting to talking so it gets harder. I learned my daughter gets half price at Taco Cabana and how they cook raw chicken straight on the grill, which you can buy just as chicken alone. Nice option running around - I used to think drives through should have the option but a chicken salad or McD chicken wrap ( I dispose of 1/2 the big tortilla) arent nice options. Occasional though with the sodium issue.
Hang in there too - think of all the places along the way you want to be at too. One of things coming through the 400s was to distract myself - letting the time pass since I knew during it the dieting and activity would take care of the losing during it. Sometimes increasing motivation helps. Others, just being occupied can speed time along.
Shame about your machines, misskay but betting you can find ways to be more active. We tend define certain things as 'exercise' but its all about keeping the burn up to balance out the food. Maybe just pumping up some music and getting into it with dance moves or putting yourself in more situations where you know you'll burn - heading out shopping for a while.
Anyone weighing in today? 211.2, one lb from last week but that was a good week so happy. Was shooting for 210 this month (hey the months not over LOL) but only meaning I was going to fight for it - I was prepared for less than a 10 lb drop too with crazy loss in December. I just wasnt going to accept it without knowing I pushed myself and I couldnt change it so Im happy.
Well even though i usually 'weigh' in on saturdays, im down 4lbs since last saturday! With 35lbs total since 12/14 (now 240.0)
Luckily, the elliptical machines are working now!
At first i was a little concerned about how fast the weight is coming off, but im definitely eating enough and working out all the time and weight training. I guess my body this week is picking up on the metabolism!
What a week, misskay! Adding on to your prior progress, you must be feeling great! Good to hear youve your elliptical back. Having that must be so much more handy.
I choose to eat a limited selection of foods - not big on variety, just like my favorites. I also am not one to 'cook' so meals tend to consist of one, maybe two different items. Yet I saw my favorite type of recipe - limited ingredients and prep time. On top of this, I actually had the ingredients :O. Canned tuna, 1 small apple chopped, dried cranberries (left over from sisters visit even if I had to fish them out of cereal she'd mixed them in) and lite mayo.
I went light on the fruit as Im sensitive but it was definitely tasty! The cereal I took it from was Fiber One. I hear of those Hungry-Girl recipes made from them so maybe I might get ambitious again. I tossed it in the blender and it grounded very easily.
GREAT NEWS ALL!! I accepted a job offer yesterday! I'll be running a Juicy Couture boutique, which I'm psyched about...although a little worried about how I'm gonna look in those clothes with the extra pounds on...I tried on an old pair of Juicy jeans and a T-shirt I had and have the fun "muffin top" effect going on in a big way, so I'm going to extra-buckle-down from today thru Tues when I start so hopefully it'll go away a little.
GOT A QUESTION FOR ALL: what are you doing for beverages on SoBeach? I have extra restrictions because, thanks to having GERD (acid reflux jazz) i can't drink coffee, tea, or carbonated beverages. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated? I've never been the kind of girl who loooves drinking water...in fact, i avoid it.
Glad you have the elliptical back, Miss Kay! I've always personally found those to be so difficult to use, so more power to ya!
crystal light! They have great flavors too :)
Sun - Online menus are great, it makes going out so much easier and less stressful and makes eating our more enjoyable for me if I know what they offer and I can get. That is great the Taco Cabana offers chicken grilled not many places do. I always love finding new places to eat quickly makes those times when hunger hits and you have to decide between the lesser of two evils LOL
Misskay - congrats on having your machine back and great job on the 4 lbs.
I wont be doing any weighing in till March 1st. I gave my self till then as a break from the scale and just focusing on other parts of getting healthy.
I agree keeping occupied is the best thing because I get so wrapped up in it if I think about it all the time.
Sunshinelisa3 - Crystal Light is good and also walmart has there brand of sugar free and low calories drinks like lemon flavored ice tea which are not bad and are a good way to get water in but still have some flavor. Plus there a great price.
Hi all, just a quick check in. Still at 135, I guess that's better than gaining. Have not been running for the last two weeks. My mother leaves on Saturday and my exam is on Wednesday so things should settle down after that.
Good to see that everyone's doing great. Keep up the good work ladies:)
icequeen83 - glad you popped in, I was wondering where you had been and how you were doing. I just took an exam today. Good luck on your exam.
Like Tonya, also wondering what was new with you Ice. Hoping your moms last day there is going well.
Ive been buying those Walmart brand crystal lights for years now, even before dieting. My favs are apple and peach ice tea. Really good and cheap (my favorite price!). Great news about your job offer sunshine - it sounds like an enjoyable job!
Velvet - hope the exam gods shined down well on you :D. Glad to see your not getting caught up with the diet and looking at the big picture. Stay focused - sounds like your doing great!
This weekend probably wont be posting (busy). Best thoughts to smart eating this weekend!
Well today (which is my regular weigh day) Ive lost 5 lbs! (since last saturday). Which puts me at 36lbs lost :)
But I do have to say im missing sugar haha.
Majorly :)
Hi all-
Had my weigh in today. Lost 0.5 lbs, putting me at 125.5. I'LL TAKE IT!! I can't wait til I start working next week so I start getting more active-- I think I'll lose a little more once that happens.
Lisa
Congrats on all your guys weight loss success this week!
Sun - Hope you have a great time this weekend!
I believe my exam went pretty well and I think I will come out with a decent grade.
I have been focusing more on the motivation because I had one of those AHA moments today. I know I have been fearing the 300's and crossing into them and I couldnt figure out what was triggering it fully and today it hit be, when I was in the 200's and 300's before is when I experience the most discrimination for being overweight and having to fight extra super hard at jobs because it wasnt good enough to be a good employee if you were overweight than you were looked down on for that or at least the places I have worked. I am glad I figured it out and now I just have to keep my self focused to get past it.
hello all- i am new to calorie count and am on the south beach diet so i wanted to join the discussion here! i have my story posted in my first journal entry if you would like to read it.
my stats are
age: 31 (32 on Feb 12!)
height: 5'7 weight: 179.6 (was at 185 last week when I started SBD!)
goal: 143
Once I get in the 140-150 range I will likely reevaluate my goal weight and try to determine what is a realistic maintenance weight for me. ive yo-yoed forever but Ive never weighed this much and getting older isnt helping any!
ill be in phase 1 until my bday then celebrate! and move into phase 2
I love exercise and I belong to the Golds Gym where I LOVE BODY PUMP!
Thanks to everyone for taking time to post here. I really need community right now so I hope to be here often. Thanks!
Welcome Zetafivealpha! That is great on your loss!
Hi Zeta! Glad youre here and what a great start on SB! THats good timing on the birthday - and your exercise Im betting has been of great help to you as you trim down those lbs. You sure have community here - we talk about dieting and everything else.
Where has this weekend gone. Not much sleep but weekend job project has pulled me off all my catch up stuff although Im queen of multitasking and most of its at my desk anyway - no calories burned there but keeping out of the kitchen :D.
My dauughter starts night classes tomorrow. She works so many hours and let her school slide so now to graduate, she will have to pass these extras too. I would tell her she couldnt work but then I'd have no leverage as I cant literally make her study so working on giving her incentive to be able to continue earning money. Also, we didnt get along for so long that working together is where we needed to be. Besides in months she'll be an adult anyway so had to loosen the claws anyway but she knows moving back in with me is based in her obligation to make graduation with her class.
Salmon and eggs on a weekend grocery sale so got to run and stock up!
Hello all,
Well, I am SO glad I was informed about this thread, because there is a lot of useful information. It seems that I can eat more things than I thought I could.
I have one week left to go one phase one, and I have lost 7 lbs! Hurray. I'm having a problem though. It seems that I am only getting about 500-600 calories a day, which is utterly unhealthy. What can I do. I really don't eat veggies (yeah...its bad, I know) and I live at college so a lot of the time the only option for me is to eat salads :(
Sun - glad to hear things are going pretty good with you and your daughter. That sucks she has to pass extras but it will so be worth it in the end.
I know what your going through jessmheiser! I go to work and school full time, and i never seem to have a moment to myself! Make foods that are quick and easy to make. I make an egg casserole for breakfast (which you can store in the fridge) then lunch is tukey meat and veggies, dinner is some sort of protein and veggies. The problem is, most people don't love veggies so you have to just start eating them in different ways. Also carry snacks that dont require refridgeration and make meals that can be reheated easily.
If an oven isn't an option, at least get stuff you can microwave! You can microwave eggs, ready cooked turkey sausage, and steam veggies!
misskay86 - those are some great ideas. I am always on the look out for easy portable healthy stuff to eat to make to take on the road with me. You gave me some good ideas.
Things are going really good since my aha moment and since I have just been staying focused. It is nice to not feel so awful about lower weights. I am hoping to have at least lost something by march 1st.
