We have had nothing but rain for a few days and today it is hot enough to cook eggs on the sidewalk.
my weight is bouncing as TOM came around but thats ok.. I had a binge last night.. the dreaded P word... pizza
But my cals for the day were still managable and still managed to do down.. (dont ask me why.. I am sure there is an all powerful force somewhere saying "ya drop it down a pound then yank it back up, then down.. teach her to eat foods she isnt supposed to.. yehaw.. keep her on her toes")
sigh but maybe thats just me.. I am just glad that I wasn't up the 6 pounds I though I would be.
Was a terrible shock about MJ.. he was the poster child of how NOT to raise a child star.
Have a great weekend eat well and gets lots of exercise :)
Planting flowers a snow ball bush tonight. Warm and beautiful out today. See everyone Monday.
have a great weekend!!!
Where's sun? Probably off buying bikinis.
oh no, it's 8:30 am and I have so many things I want to do today. One, is to limit calories and still not decided on a wog or bike rike. Plus by weekend, my house is a mess, so cleaning in order.
I'm off now to take my monthly measurements! Unfortunately I can tell by my clothes my hips (low part near top of legs) probably not down.
done:
Lost 2.25" this month.
BUT, am up 6" from my lowest and most fit last Aug. 08, before starting job which took me off the roads, jogging and biking all day and put me behind a desk.
I'm still pleased with this months loss and the wide hips are down 1" the other measurements only down 1/4 here and 1/4 there. Thigh down 3/4", so that's good. Flabby, stubborn upper arms stayed the same.
edit:
wogged 1 hr and FINALLY thank you weight is now 181.4. Didn't think that would ever happen and don't go bursting my little bubble and tell me that it's only water weight and will come back. I'm claiming it as my weight!!!
Can I join you ladies? I started phase one last week after having my surrogate baby on the sixth. I started at 203 and today weighed 198. I think this sounds like a very safe and reasonable diet.
What day do you weigh in?
Sun: I was really encouraged to see that someone could follow this diet for so many years and lose so much weight. That tells me this diet is sustainable and I believe in lifestyle changes rather than diets.
Welcome to the beach tribegirl. I tried SB in 2003 and had much success and got lazy. Been back on the beach since last Sept. and it's a plan you can live with. I enjoy the healthy choices and really don't like anything fried, processed, etc. Well, maybe cookies every now and than. You are doing great. We weigh in on Thursday.
Rachel, great numbers. You just reminded me I need to jump on the treadmill before I forget.
Della, love snowball bushes. My grandma had so many in her yard.
Karen, an occasional slice of pizza never hurt anyone. Sometimes we need to shake things up.
Me, I'm getting on my treadmill and then just relaxing today. Put a roast in the crockpot last night. I use a roast and dump a jar of banana peppers, juice and all, and that's it. Really flavors the meat and you can shredd it and use hoagie bun. I just eat the meat without the bread. I roasted some extra veggies last night and might just have them at dinner again. Oh, made a batch of quinoa too. Yum. I love that stuff. I did grocery shop and loaded up on veggies and fruit. The scale was kind to me this morning. Down a pound. If I can just control the extra snaking, I should see a good number on Thursday.
Have a great Saturday!
Tomorrow, June 28 is a Sunday.
Two years ago it was a Thursday - the first time I weighed myself and when I started the SB. The scale was stressing - 465 lbs.
I found the original SB thread and conveeeently got the SB members to start weighing on Thursdays ever since.
Rachael/Oh155 and Sarah/GetFit knew me then.
Without Jun 3rd 20 lb bloat, I might have spent this month going from 176 to 165, my 300 lbs 2 yr goal. Intsead, I bumped overnight from 176 to 200 and only now back at 176. But the skins gone and boobs are boobs so enough whining. Aug 2nd I meet Leonard for photos and I will be 165. Not that he cares LOL but I want to be my most secure/ confident, posing next to him.
Anniversary party anyway tomorrow - not cake, sorry
::locks door behind tribesgirl::
You werent going anywhere, were you? You're joined and hope you weighin with us Thursday. Its definitely a way to eat and adaptable too. It keeps my hunger in check and the losses can be empowering to keep eating well. BIG WELCOME!
Yay Pam on the pound drop - stay strong for THursday. Roasted veggies and roast to keep the eating good plus treadmill - I'd be looking forward to weighin :D
Rachael, definitely been meaning to get back in here. So happy 2.25" and 181.4!! HELLO! Okay Im going to ask - whats wogging?
Karen - let that TOM pass and hold tight, theres a scale with happy numbers after it does so hang strong.
Jeri and Della - watch out for dirt critters! I wont even walk across lawns no less put my hands down by those creepies critters. Inside bugs dont bother me but in dirt yes, plus the worms and god forbid a lizard or *faints* frog/toad.
Oh what a laugh you just gave me Jayne! Thanks I sure needed that. But I must admit until my dad visited me last year (after my mom passed away) amd built my raised gardens I never knew how much I love gardening. Now I can't wait for warmer weather to get started. We (my partner and I) built a green house just so we can get things started sooner rather than later. The bugs and such don't bother me. And we have no lizards, snakes or frogs. Much too cold for them (yet).
I'm pleased with my weight today as well . . not official but I weighed in at 201.7 this am and 201.4 this afternoon. I had an unexpected TOM the last week and that would explain the jump in weight the previous weigh in. I've been going through peri menopause for the past 2 years with this year my TOM skipping for 3 months then rearing it's head on the 4th month in.
WELCOME TRIBESGIRL. I'm sure you will enjoy the southbeach. I know I do! Surrogate baby? How wonderful! I think women who can do this are true blessings. To help someone else enjoy the thrills of mother hood. .well I can't say enough. Blessings to you and the little one you brought into the world.
Well must get to work now. Chat later.
Della
wogging is a combination of walking AND jogging. I jog a little, till I'm gasping, then walk. I walk so much I can't really say jogging but I put more effort into it and hate to say just went out walking. Somewhere on another forum, long ago, found the word 'wog'.
Just boiled some eggs and love them warm when they taste so fresh. Out of mayo but plan on egg salad and deviled eggs, so will have something to grab when I'm searching the kitchen for 'something'.
Wish I could have some turkey bacon for a snack, but too much sodium as close as I'm watching things this weekend. Also had Triscuits on my list after listening to you here talk about them, but afraid to buy them tomorrow as I might eat the entire box. Will wait and buy them and just leave them in the closet in my office.
sun: you are going to be a knockout when you meet Leonard. Yes, I remember when you had to go to the clinic to get weighed, and you could barely walk across the room. Now, look at you.
Jayne..HAPPY 2 YR ANNIVERSARY!!!!! You are incredible and show us there is hope for us all! Although I don't know how you consistently lose those huge numbers...even with your "bumps"... As far as the dirt critters we have them all.....lizards and frogs are my cats favorite thing to bring in the house....eeek!
Good job Rachel on your progress and thanks for explaining wogging...lol..good for you!
Welcome tribegirl I only joined last week but what a great group of losers....
Congrats Pam and Della on your losses...I am stuck on 256 but at least it hasn't gone up....I am really being careful ...I know it will pay off soon.
welcome Tribegirl ![]()
Frustration level is so high I want to stomp my foot. Cut calories yesterday and did more jogging than walking and only down to 181.2. when 180, even 180.8 is my weekend goal.
What can I blame? My turkey breast I roasted is very salty so lets blame that. I won't buy that brand, Honeysuckle again.
Obviously if I get too frustrated and give up and splurge I won't get anywhere and will have to start over to even get to this point, so I'll try not to. Nothing motivates me like seeing a nice drop. It makes me so happy that I don't want to do anything to ruin it. But this. This just almost makes me want to say, why bother. No, I'm not giving up. I know when I get thru the 180 barrier I will relax and not focus so much on this.
Good Sunday morning.
Rachel, you are so close to leaving the 180's. It could be a number of things. Are you drinking your water? I know if I don't drink, I gain. It keeps the sodium flushed out. Also, the scale fluctuates from day to day. Go back and weigh yourself butt-naked, lol. Don't give up, you can do this. I thought wog was a typo for jog, lol.
Jeri, I hate being stuck. I got back on the beach last Sept at 146. I'm 149 today. I want to get to 140 and would be thrilled with 135. Talk about frustrating. My body is hanging on to these last few pounds and refuses to let go, but, I love this way of eating, and the benefits of my health are more important than the last few pounds. I know a lot of it is I get lazy and don't exercise. When I do, the scale moves.
Della, I see onelander for you on Thursday. You are doing great.
Jayne, congratulations on a wonderful 2 yr journey. You have been an inspiration to all of us. You really should write Dr. A and tell him your story. You need to show us a picture of your progress.
Another hot day in store, but suppose to cool down to the high 80's next week and the humidity is going to be lower too.
Have a nice Sunday
Della snow balls are beautiful :) I love gardening too.. bugs toads dont bother me.. but spiders.. well.. they have fangs! No snakes here in newfounland which is nice but I found rather wierd. And wooot on those un-official numbers.. ssooooooo close to onederland :)
Pam that roast sounds absolutly divine I used to eat meat and have been considering eating it one night a week as I have been having a hard time some days getting my calories up. If I do thats gonna be one thing I do try.. I can almost taste how good that sounds.
Jayne 2 years and very close to 300 lb toss.. you are AMAZING. If anyone ever needed an inspirational pic they only have to look at yours :) all this and BOOBS!!! Leonards eyes are gonna pop outa his head girl !
Speaking of boobs, I feel like I have lost my "rack" as my hubby calls it. He says no I haven't I say yes. I finally got some sports bras and its like UNI boob! not really just used to seeing more there. But these sport bras dont lift and separate they just say "Stay in place no moving" Easier on my back and shoulders just used to them (my boobs) being more prominate lol
Rachel ty for explaining wogging lol I was gonna ask too and I am trying to work my way up to if.. Still on meds for my hip so cant yet but I have Wog envy!!. I love eggs and could not do with out it but sodium really plays a number on me too. I see 7's in your immediate future :)
Jeri that number will move you are doing so good :) and my cat used to leave me presents in my slippers beside the bed, Cat has been gone for years :( but I still lift and tilt my slippers every morning before I slide my toes in. And I agree we are a great bunch of losers :)
Tribegirl we are not all as crazy as we sound some of us are worse :) but seriously welcome and I look forward to losing with you :) you are in good company here.
I am sitting here typing while I eat my breakfast omlete and then I forget to eat.. so I stop typing and eat then type. LOL I have to head out for the rest of my groceries soon and no way do I shop hungry .. recipe for disaster so I better get to it.
Snowball flowers - is that because theyre covered with pink marshmellow / coconut and filled with chocolate cake? With those numbers, Della Thursdays already looking pretty pretty good for you! Onederland will onemoreperson very soon :D
Rachael - props to you and avoiding the salt. Back in the day, I remember how supportive you, Sarah and the old school crew were and all along the way. Ive learned much from you over your time here. If some water weights hanging, its not fat and know your 180 is right there. If not today, it should be extremely close. Will try to remember that - wog!
Eek is right, Jeri! Not only havent you gone up but your coming off a good loss for phase1 so bear with it if you settle a bit and stick your good plan. Wondering if Thrusday will bring you happy news - betting so!
Pam - July I have my quarterly "after" photo to take- I have a presurgery after but side by sides are cool. Assuming all is still well with your granddaughter?
Karen - that bra sounds comgy but uniboob sound funny! Im going with your hubby - they do seem to have that stuff down. You ARE less so its natural to have less but theyre are amazing bras that pushup. The ones that already look perfect boob shape before you even put them on LOL. Im betting your way harder on yourself but if it bugs you, nothing like a pushup (even the ones with a little pad help) to get let you feel as good you already look.
LOL I have been wearing and filling out my bra since I was 8 so its hard for me to go down in size even though I know its from good weight loss. I'll get over it.
At the grocery store tonight one of the cashiers that I usually talk to came up to me out of the blue grabbed me and told me how wonderful I looked. She wanted to say it before but didnt have the chance.. talk about a high :)
I need need need a spagetti squash for dummies recipe. I bought onea beautiful yellow spagetti squash.. I know its yummy have had it before but no idea how to cook this thing. Anyone have any simple recipes I am all ears.
Jayne, thanks for asking about Kayleigh. She went home but is back in the hospital. My granddaughter took her to ER last night. She had a high temp and was acting really strange, couldn't keep her eyes open or focused. They said she had pneumonia. They sent her to that stupid hospital she was at last week, and they admitted her. This morning, the attending physician said she didn't think it was pneumonia. She is thinking UTI. That is the worse hospital I have even seen. They didn't even have a gown for Kayleigh. We went this morning and she was really sweating, and her pj top was damp. They didn't have one to replace it. Only pj bottoms. Who ever heard of them not having a gown for you to wear. I had to run to Family Dollar and find a couple outfits, so she could get into a dry shirt. I am complaining to the Hospital Adm. tomorrow. We live in a small town and it's a rinkie dink place. The doctors are from the bottom of the barrel. I told my granddaughter, if she needs to take her again, she is going to the bigger city, which is about 45 minutes from us. At least they are up on the latest technology and have good drs. there. Ok, rant over.
Karen, I cut my spaghetti squash in half lengthwise. I pierce the skin and then put on cookie sheet and back at 375 for 45 min. - 1 hr , but side up, until tender. Then I fork it out and just add spaghetti sauce to it. It's my version of spaghetti. Great with a salad.
See ya in the morning.
I dont blame you for ranting about your granddaughters care! That PJ sitation was ridiculous. UTI sounds a lot safer than pneuonia. Im in DFW and it took my friend Alice who lives in Carrollton like me but was a nurse and has sold med products for some time now to appreciate differences in hospitals. She says our city hospital is crappy eventhough my city isnt. I never could distinguish between hospitals but now am becoming more and more conscious of the Baylor chain she endorses. Please keep us updated on Kaleighs status.
Karen, I was loving on the spaghetti squash but dropped to the cheaper produce. I need to get me some though. My prep is the microwave,
Cut it in half cut in half - Im surprised how hard these are to cut through!! Place open side up in a bowl. I used a bowl with the squash just above the bowl rim. Pour about 1/4 cup water down in bowl base around squash touching bowl bottom and cover with saran wrap. Micro 12ish mins. Faster and I prefer the moistness. Fork that inside out (the skin is tough like a bowl).
Im not a tomato sauce fan, especially not with vegetables so liked Clairelaines idea just olive oil, parm cheese, salt and pepper. Soon realized didnt need the oil either because so moist.
BTW I noticed Kraft fatfree parm cheese had same calories as regular. Wait, what?! Apparantly the use starch as filler to reduce the cheese therefore fat content. No thanks - Im pretty fat free (prefer my fat from salmon and nuts) but for the same calories, I dont want less parm cheese flavor.
I like the microwave because its faster and steaming makes it moist which I prefer.
Im not a fan of spaghetti sauce to begin with and particularly dont like it with vegetables but saw Clairelaine post she justs puts olive oil, parmesean, salt & pepper. I soon discovered it was moist enough w/o the oil. I really love the flavor of it so I find this barely covers that a and particularly on veg (like zuchini in it or vegs added to pasta with
Pam, I'd really push to get the child into a better hospital fast. Small bodies are just so much more susceptible. I don't have med experience but I don't think either pneumonia or UTI should be hard to diagnose.
3 days till weigh-in. Won't be much change for me. If I get lower carbs seems I end up with higher sodium. Just can't win sometimes. And this stupid scale. Took me 5 min to weight this a.m. Don't know if I need a new battery or not.
first got a lower weight 2x. Should have left well enough alone. But no. Then kept getting higher weight then kept resetting the scale and never could get it back to my first weight, but I'm claiming my first one! If I manage one pound this week, I'll be happy.
I am wearing a pretty skirt thats several yrs old, but new cause I gained after buying it and hardly wore it. It's a very straight skirt, not forgiving at all, like A-line skirts are.
Pam...thinking good thoughts for your ggranddaughter poor baby hope she gets well and comes home soon.
Rachel... I know how frustrating it is to want to get under that number and into another decade....I'm looking at a big one now to get under 250 and then even a bigger one....under 200...into onederland...but I am determined to get healthy this time. We need to stay focused on the bigger picture of why we are doing this... for our health... to make our bodies stronger....to feel better and most of all to stay healthy. We know that this way of eating and exercise will help us get there and if we continue to live this way eventually our weight will be at a healthy level too....that being said I hate my scale too...lol......
I unfortunately have had to learn this lesson the hard way after many years of abusing my body with bad eating, smoking, very little exercise and gaining and then losing lots of weight. In March, I had 16" of my colon removed after being diagnosed with colon cancer. However I am very lucky it was discovered at an early stage and it hadn't spread from my colon. But talk about a wake up call....I had my last smoke Feb 19th, surgery March 3rd and now 4 months later I've lost 14 lbs (all in the last month) so I'm on a major mission to get healthy! Too bad it's taken me so long....but having cancer has a way of changing a persons views on almost everything.....it makes you realize how very precious life is and how amazing the human body is. My body has taken good care of me for 57 years and now it's time for me to take care of it!
Now that was pretty heavy for a Monday morning! Time to exercise before it gets too hot...it's been really HOT here...suppose to cool down a bit today...
I love this Doctor
Q: Doctor, I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life. Is this true?
A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it.. don't waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.
Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?
A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommendeddaily allowance of vegetable products.
Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?
A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit Brandy is distilled wine, that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even more of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain. Bottoms up!
Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?
A: Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.
Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?
A: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain...Good!
Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?
A: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING!!! ..... Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil.. In fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you?
Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?
A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.
Q: Is chocolate bad for me?
A: Are you crazy? HELLO Cocoa beans ! Another vegetable!!! It's the best feel-good food around!
Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.
Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?
A: Hey! 'Round' is a shape!
Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets.
And remember:
'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride' AND.....
For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.
1. The Japanese eat very little fat
and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat
and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
3. The Chinese drink very little red wine
and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
4 The Italians drink a lot of red wine
and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
5. The Germans drink a lot of beers and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
CONCLUSION
Eat and drink what you like.
Speaking English is apparently what kills you.
