Sorry for the delay on that Rachael but a good reminder Thursdays coming!
Wow I walked like crazy this weekend and Sat night was at a club dancing for hours, not on the dance floor - just wherevever I was (<-- freak). I found a Party Music cable channel that I like and will listen to it while making something to eat only to find myself delaying everything to dance for "one more song" over and over.
So big push to get every last ounce off and working - so far Ive weighed in at 164/165 today. Thats my 300 lb mark and somewhere I see myself maintaining at but for now, Im continuing the the push for how low we can go.
Im off to read current posts :D
Karen, yay for 282 and Im with you on that 'extra walking' - bodies are reacting
. Looking forward to doing your before /after so keep up the amazing job at forcing that number down!
Della- Im thinking good onderland thoughts but theres no denying those trumets - they say your here now so plan to stck around and work the onderland numbers.
Rachael - 179.4? Another example of forcing that number down with fluids and staying strong. I know we can bounce but Im thinking Thursdays going to be a goooood day!! Excited for you! Hope cousins meal didnt cause problems
Jeri - hoping you survived the treats of your July 4th and enjoyed your company. I like my fruit room temp but putting more and more in the fridge cuz I think the bad house heat is causing them to ripen to fast. Prepped fruits so handy and hard to stop stocking up on. Trying to stop with the perishables as Ive 2weeks til leaving.
Pam - I wasnt chosen on a murder trial because of death penalty questions and Im like you. Too heavy - hope your not pulled into it knowing how you feel too.
Casey - being so strong at company BBQ, hoping you weekend has continued well to because you jumpstarted so nicely and would love for you to have a great Thursday!
The weekend is over. I'm hearing fire crackers outside. My neighbor. My dog is hiding under the bed. Wow, are they loud.
My eating is getting out of control. I bought some cashews. Not good. They are so salty and I usually eat the lightly salted dry roasted nuts. I have to get serious in the morning and try to do the treadmill longer than 20 minutes. I used to do 30, but get tired after 15 and force myself to hang in there for 20-25 min. Plus, I'm not getting enough water. Need to pump that up too. Food wise, my choices are good, just too many nuts.
If they are going for the death penalty, and I'm opposed to it, I don't think they would keep me if I was chosen. I think the judge would dismiss me. I think they pick and choose who they want anyway. I'm not from here, and out of 28 people last week, they called 3 Brown's and 4 Guffey's. Everyone knows everyone. I know no one. Small community and they are still in the stone age here.
Sounds like everyone is doing well, except me. Jayne, a huge congratulations on 300 lbs. Wow, I am just amazed at your determination. Your pics, you are so thin. My neck looks like a turkey neck since I lost my weight. I guess my age has something to do with it. I should try to meet you at that club. Sounds like a fun exercise to do. I used to do it years ago, for exercise. Love to dance too.
Anyone watch Big Brother? That is my favorite summer show. Can't wait. It starts next Thursday.
Have a good evening and see ya in the morning.
3 days till weighin. Hope everyone does as well as last week when we ALL had a loss. I'm up 8 oz from weekend carbs, but its life back to normal. Making a goal to continue as I've been doing.
Again, out of ideas for this weeks meals and lunches. Taking a turkey burger, which I don't mind eating cold for lunch at the office. and apple. I need a few more calories to get thru the day. I really like Greek yogurt and have been eating a lot of that. Wish I could find tiny pks of nuts. Don't trust myself to buy a jar of them.
yes, we should all dance the pounds away. Sounds fun.
Pam I can't even bring anything into the house like cashews or I'd overeat them too.
I'm not happy about having to leave for a week and stay in a hotel, for work. But all I can do is make the best choices on menu and hope for best. I'll deal with it. I can't shut myself off from life just because willpower is weak.
Rachel, when do you leave? 8 oz is not bad. I'm up a pound, due to those yummy nuts. I'm going to try and control myself today and not eat a single one. Wish me luck. I made lentil salad and have been eating it for my lunches. I should finish it up today. It's really yummy and I eat it cold. Walmart quit carrying the greek yogurt. It's more expensive and people around here won't pay that much. I would, lol.
Phone call, I'll be back later.
3 days to weigh in!!!
I made a huge pot of soup today with all friendly SB foods. Last night was a hungryish night.. not full out but scared me for today so before I went to bed last night I nibbles a slice of white turkey meat as I through some local beef into a pot and made a huge soup.. added barley, green beans, red pepper, a little carrot, canned tomatoes, onions, celery broccoli and a handful of baby corn ears. Cooked and put in fridge.
I need to curb hungry days before they get a hold and I think I did it. I had my usual Monster Onion, mushroom, red pepper omelet this morning and took out my pot of soup at lunch.. Told myself I could eat the whole pot if I needed to today no problem at all. And I am having trouble finishing the big bowl I heated for my lunch. lol go figure.
Will probably have that soup left over for tomorrow and that's cool too..It is FREEZING here today.. like 5 degrees above 0.. my poor poor capelin waiting to come in and spawn lol
We cant get Greek Yogurt here either.. most don't even know what it is.. they were looking at my funny at the grocery when I asked for it. lol
The only nuts I can eat are almonds. I LOVE all nuts but I have 15 almonds once a day as a snack and that's it. I buy in bulk and put in a container in cupboard and take out 15 per day.. cashews would not last the day here lol I like them too much. But almonds feel like a dessert and I buy Just enough to last the week (yes I am the crazy lade at the bulk store counting out nuts as they drop into my bag)
Hope everyone is doing well :)
Oh where, Oh WHERE is the sun?
Karen: I do believe the capelin must be near! The sun is in hiding, rain pelting down and it's cold enough outside to require thermal underwear! LOL! MMMM Soup! I love soup going to make some tonight for tomorrows supper. I do the same thing with Almonds . . . 1. 2. 3. 4. lol
Jayne: OH my gosh you've reached your goal weight. Is busily blowing up balloons for the big dance away 300 pounds party on Thursday. . Whew now I'm outta breath. What an accomplishment. Did you save any of your old clothes? I have a pair of pants that I wore when I weighed 284 pounds and every once in a while will try them on just to remind myself of how far I've come. When I reach my goal I'm taking a picture of me inside them. . ![]()
Pam: I've never heard of Greek Yogurt. Sounds like you've got one well stocked Wal Mart (wishes she (Della) even had a Wal Mart !!)
oh155: wishing you lots of strength and good thoughts during your week away. By chance does the hotel your staying have a gym?
Rachael: 179.4? Wow! what a way to go and holding strong at the barbcue? I'm guessing we're going to have quite the biggest loser's party ever on Thursday!
Will be checking in again later.
mumbles. . . grumbles. . just hope the sun comes out and warms up around here!!!
Della
You looking for me, Della? The sun is here and despite a scale bounce to 176, positive, optimistic, excited, nervous - this cant continue during a 2week departure countdown or Im going to explode LOL!! Ive got almost every clothes item Della and going to 465, thats a long line of them. Cant wait to see those pants on goal day!!
Pam - nuts kicked my willpower smug attitude for a loop, the achilles heel. Course that would go for any high fat salty iten like potato chips but with nuts giving a green light I have too many thoughts on it. The most recent discovery - unsalted nuts less 'fun' but also more easily controlled. Im unsalted now.
Karen, Im a sucker for barley - that nuttyness and know it makes for a killer soup. Im also a slave to cashews and what I used to buy but cheaped out to peanuts. Have you heard the song Mercy? Course THIS is what I think of when I hear it but listen to the lyrics - a lot of the lyrics could apply to my dysfunctional nut compulsion.
Rachael, I cycle on the nuts. Sometimes none in the house. Others single serve packs. Right now, have two jars unsalted peanuts left but safe with pre-vacation determination but upon return, will probably default back to single serve if not completely 'not in my house'. I remember plenty of SB thread trips where you allowed for a certain gain on a trip to lose when you came back and BOOM lost when you came back. You manage that so well!
Della my thermal underwear wore thermal underwear today !!!
decided to go mexican with my soup. Added 1 oz shredded cheese crushed 5 sundried tomato and olive oil triscuits into it and a dallop of ff sour cream to make it sizzle
and let me say.. yummm
Ya I could really go overboard on nuts so I stick with what I know I am good with.. boring but safe and I enjoy it so thats all that counts :)
All this talk about nuts is making crave them. I have been good today and not had any and I hope I can hold out. I do chop 3 halves of a walnut and put in my steel cut oats, but that's it. I even managed 30 minutes on the treadmill today. Hubby made chili and had that for dinner. No breads. Fruit the rest of the day if I need a snack. Maybe I'll have an apple with pb tonight.
Della and Karen, where do you ladies live? 5 degrees? Are you in Iceland, lol.
Della, your soup sounds delicious. Love veggie soup.
Jayne, you will look marvelous for Lenard.
Hello! I'm Melanie, a 44 yo SAHM of 3 boys ages 7 and 4 (twins). We reside in Connectocit. I weighed in today at 234.8 (the highest EVER...and that's including carrying the twins full term). Not sure how I let it get so out of control, but an ready now to take back what is rightfully mine, a healthy, leaner body.
I have just completed the first day of Phase 1 and was just thrilled to find this thread!
Kindly,
Melanie
We're pretty thrilled you found it to, Melanie!! 234.8 WAS the highest - youre on your way from that number with us SBers and I hear you claiming your upcoming weightloss. Love that attitude!
Work phase1 - the stricter to the plan, the better the numbers come out. We've a Thursday weighin coming up we'd love to include you in along with following Thursday, a tradition for two years with this group (we had a prior thread for previous time but getfit, oh155 and myself where here to confirm it). We all made it through that strict 2 week and know what SB can do to our appetite and our weight. Keeping it healthy all the way.
Pam - I did the same, literally reading them had the "... go get some nuts from the jar" thought LOL but I let it pass. Ive gotten realize cravings will pass whether I act on them or not so distract, which is easy for me to do LOL. Arent you jelous of Karen and Della like me. Canada, I believe. PB and apple, way to keep balance the sugar with protein and PB ... sighs....
I hope everyone had a great fourth! I love nuts but even the unsalted arent good for me, it triggers my wanting to overeat. I have been struggling with food lately. i am really into soup and it is really filling for me but the sodium is way to much and making the scale go up. All I can do is keep on keeping on.
Sounds like everyone is doing so good. Oh and I saw you were all talking about Kashi Cookies, LOVE THEM! There really filling for me that I can only eat one, but very yummy.
welcome Melanie: good for you for taking control. I've gotten so much good advice on here and have done better than I coudl alone. I used to starve, then of course, binge and gain it back plus more. slow and steady wins. I first started by only trying to eat healthier, less processed, and discovered I lost a little and it inspired me to keep trying.
guess what i'm doing?
I'm taking my bathroom scale with me. how crazy is that!!! Other ppl would think it's obsessive, but you guys know how easy it is to gain and hard to lose and the damage a week can do, so this will help me.
I just can't judge eating restaurant food for a week. Also I can weigh in next thursday.
I leave Sat., visit family, then the hotel on Sun night.
Imagine I'll be eating a lot of omletts as you can always order those. Grilled chicken, and sticking to veggies, will try not to stare at menus and maybe avoid seeing something that gets into my mind and starts a craving.
I will guess that this week will only be down 1/2# from last week.
After reading about eating nuts, bought some pistaschios yesterday and ate too many.
Della and I live in Newfoundland Canada :)
Melanie Glad to have you with us.. we are all a bit cracked.. dont let that bother you though. :) we are safe cracked SB'ers ![]()
I would take my scale with me too and GOOD For you!! dedication and not letting everyday life stand in your way.. !! you go girl!!
hey anyone else see that tall slim fellow with the pointy ears walking down this thread.. Pretty sure he is looking for someone.. not sure who that can be.. but he was saying "she wore my shirt" the whole time.. /scratches head.. its right on the tip of my tongue.. the name.. was it lun... bun...fun.. something like that.. ![]()
I saw that guy too. He is determined to find her...
Karen, I'm assuming your temps were celcius? I would need a chart to see the conversion. Are you and Della close to each other?
Rachel, great idea to take your scale. I'll have to remember that the next time I go someplace. I know you'll do fine on your trip. You are prepared and that makes such a difference.
Velvet, sorry you are struggling. I agree, the Kashi cookies are filling and one is usually enough to satisfy me.
Jayne, sorry the nuts conversation got everyone craving them
. I was good yesterday and didn't have even one. I did have my pb with apple though and it was delicious.
Welcome Melanie. Good luck on phase 1. I'm sure you'll see a great loss if you stick to it. My daughter has 3 boys too and a set of twins. They are teens now.
Another beautiful day here. We've had our AC off for 5 days and it's so nice to have the windows open. It's usually unbearably hot here in the summer, so this is a welcome change.
Good morning ladies and gentleman (wants to include the pointy eared feller). .
Doing much better today the beautiful Sun (both of them) has come out and warming things up once again! Yeah!!!
Pam: Karen lives on the Avalon Peninsula and I live on the Great Northern Peninsula about 12 hours apart (driving) and in one of the loveliest places on earth I might add. We can see the ocean 360 days a year with whales, dolphins (own private shows) puffins, and of course Ice Bergs. I absolutely love living on the Rock! I have to stay away from PB it really sets me off. I use to smear it on my bananas Yummy!
Karen: I made my soup last night-and it's delish! I added rutebaga, carrots, barley, garlic, onion, mixed vegies, chicken and left over roast. The smell was so scrumptous and can't wait to have some tonight.
Jayne: Yeah!! I'm so glad you finally came out! Man was it cold yesterday. Now about that dance party on Thursday are you bringing the tunes or are we singing karoke?
Welcome Melanie: I can fully attest to how wonderful SB and this thread is. The ladies will lift your spirits and brings alot of proven advice that works. I've been dieting my (off and on) entire life. All the way back to 5th grade (yes, eons ago) and have never found anything that satisfied me and still lost weight. So welcome!
Velvet: I had the same problem with mozzarella cheese. Love it but every time I had even the slightest piece I'd gain 2 pounds of water. So needless to say I don't eat mozzarella cheese any longer.
oh155: If it helps you that's all that matters! You'll be in our thoughts while your away and be waiting her for your return. Good Luck! And remember if you do slip it's only that a slip. Nothing to beat yourself up over. Just get right back up again.
Della
Still up from the 4th... my plan for only 1 glass of wine didn't work...exercising like crazy and hope to be the same as last week for weigh in...this sucks....but we had a fun time...I really didn't overeat but had waaaay too much wine....and now I'm really whining.....LOL
Welcome Melanie!
I need to lay off the nuts too!
See you for weigh in Thursday.
Della your soups sounds divine.. I enjoyed mine so much from yesterday I made another one today!! this time less beef more barley. still adding the Mexican sizzle with the cheese fire roasted tomato triscuits and the sour cream and chili powder. I made it this morning used the recipe tool here to figure out the cals per serving and need I say yummmm!
I used to eat a jar of PB every 2 weeks all by myself. Since I started SB we have none in the house.. I ate PB on everything soo it is such a trigger for me that I cannot even see a jar.. I actually speed by it in the grocery store.
The sun came out here so its like 7 degrees now. Its been so overcast and rainy and just plain cold from the winds. Winds coming off the ocean have that year round chill. Its nice on hot days and livable on days like today. I don't miss the mainland weather I used to have of 30+ humidity with no air current
**I shaved my legs without having to sit on the edge of the tub and contort**
I did it before I even thought about it. just lifted my leg up on the edge of the tub as I was showering.. checked out a patch of dry skin behind my heel.. THEN just about fell over when I realized how I was doing it. I have 47.5 pounds gone and its really making a difference..
When I joined CC I weighed 317 hence the name.. but I had been dieting on my own for a couple of months. I am not sure what my weight was because our digital scale only goes up to 330 and it was reading a big E for a long time. When I hit 330 I had been dieting for about a month and I bounced down to 317 when I joined and back up to 320 shortly after.. THEN I went on SB. It was only in April..
47.5 lbs gone thanks to southbeach and thanks to you guys and your support!!
I am gonna post side by side pics when I hit 50 pounds gone (some sweetheart I know is going to digital/photoshop/wave her magic want to make it happen)
So All I can say is VIVA la Resistance... err.. wait that one was already used.. how about GO SB TEAM GO!!!!
nanamoss: tell me more about your soup. What kind of broth did you use. i haven't made any for a long, long time and you've given me ideas.
nanny; wow, you've come so far. Yes, at 200 I remember hating the rolls around my middle that made getting in and out of the car, etc. harder. I just felt like I couldn't bend like I used to. Funny how we appreciate the little things that others take for granted, like you shaving your legs.
If you like PB think about PB2. It's a powder from peanuts, 75% less fat, and you just mix a little water with it. It comes in a box of 4 jars for $25, but lasts a long time and is out of Georgia and I ordered it online after reading about it here. I was in love and would mix a teeny bowl up for a snack, then got tired of it.
At the health store they have a machine that grinds peanuts and you pump it out and it looks like you are putting soft serve ice cream in a cup. I may try that next time I'm at that store.
ONE DAY, till weighin.
Got up really early, but haven't accomplished anything at home, so need to do some chores.
be careful today.......think about the scale tomorrow.
Which foods are high in both fat and calories?
Foods that are high in both healthy fat and calories are all nuts, nut butters, seeds such as sunflower seeds, oily fish (salmon, sardines... Read more
