Eeek !!! Critters in the wall ... extremely cold outside and for the first time in many many years of owning this house we have something sharing our space. Called for help and they are coming tomorrow morning so have to live with scratching in the walls and cats going crazy tonight. Oddly enough the dogs are not interested at all. Wish us luck Beachers ... just want this over. Won't sleep a wink tonight. Also costly to have professionals help but I want to close up the entry so need to know "who" it is and how they got in
Doing well with exercise, treadmill and weights, but not weighing because I don't need bad news. Pants feeling looser so may be brave this Thursday.

Is it supposed to get this cold on the beach? Lets see - Tshirt, dress, thermal shirt, fleece and Im inside HA! Expecting some relief later. Yesterday mail - elec bill from $178 to $344, Im thinking the coldest month will be behind us shortly. Im thinking of having a friend check the insulation for me - see what he thinks.
Any month our power bill is under $500, we're happy campers.

The weather here is turning colder, greyer, and soggier ... typical January weather, huh? Anyway, I decided that soup for lunch was just the thing to get me started. I start with a can of Savory Vegetable Barley Progresso Light Soup and add a package of zero-calorie shirataki noodles! With that I will have four servings of steamed broccoli, plus a crunchy salad of cucumber, radishes, dill pickles and hardboiled egg whites. There are five different flavors of Progresso Light vegetable soups ... all for just 120 calories for the can (2 servings, technically.) They can be a bit "basic" ... so I usually add some more spices, shirataki noodles, and/or fresh veggies to dress them up a bit.
Dinner Tuesday will help me use up some of my fresh veggies! The main course is open-faced grilled ham n' cheese on a Thomas' multigrain light english muffin (with a tomato slice). With that will be a fresh, garlic-lemon artichoke, a yummery-buttery ear of corn, and fresh green beans AND fresh asparagus. (Hmmm... that's a lot of veggies, huh?) Anyway, this gives me 16 solid veggie servings for Tuesday ... yum! yum! yum!
Did I mention that my wonderful DH Ron gave me a bunch of presents for breaking the 300 mark? First, a gorgeous green salad bowl (I love it!), three crystal mice (one for each 100 pounds); a light n' tasty cook book, an inspirational book, new festive undies (polka dots!), a new pink retractable cloth tape measurer so I can keep watching the inches disappear, a sea otter mousepad, and a gorgeous ring with a pretty light green stone. (Somewhere in my brain is the name of this pretty semi-precious gemstone!) Isn't he a total sweetheart? He really made my day on Monday with these presents.

Well ladies, I have a problem (but please don't blast me). I am working out like 2x a day (well I do my run in the morning, then my class/workout in the evening) and I am not really hungry, in fact I am finding it hard to get food into me (yes I wish it was always like that)...but I am worried my body is going into starvation mode because the weight is not shifting at all. Now I haven't been good on my water, so I am going to retry that today...any suggestions???
I love that I am not hungry, but obviously its not working out too well.
P.S. Jayne, I did that weight photo thing, wow I had nice arms again, I loved that thing!!
Gina Im going to talk to her teacher this week about the books. Thanks Im sure the kids will love them. when I told Ashton it was on its way back she started jumping up and down. I guess that means shes happy LOL
Molly your DH sounds sweet and hes definatly proud of you. HEEHEE Are you going to share some recipes from that cook book.
KAthryn do you have mice? My mom had them real bad intill she stopped feeding her dogs outside
Kathyln, I also get the occasional winter with the wall critter. Once I heard it, stepped out my bedroom and looked up (cathedral ceiling) to see where the nose of the critter was sticking out a hole he'd chewed in the wall, 3 feet above me head! The humane folks would trap inside the house or leave me a trap, but wouldnt go into attic space. I ended up hiring someone with traps but its really creepy to hear them there when the come, knowing the can chew through walls (heck the can crack open nuts). The first time was the scariest and I demanded Kiki leave the house and go to her friends. I tried to be calm but she'd already seen I was afraid too. She didnt want to leave and I assured her I'd be fine but no - it was her cats she was afraid of. I just hope if theres a fire and the cats get out safely, she remembers to send them back in for her mom LOL.
Molly, youre hubby is as sweet as you say! My diet support Alcie would ask if Kiki has commented on my weight but she just takes it as a matter of fact. I think its because shes overweight herself and not interested in losing but I have her brag to a few others. She just doesnt acknowledge it to me directly so I'll settle for her comments about me instead of to me.
Sarah, I do miss the chinese buffet. We dont eat out much (and are overdue) but we'd go when we were hungry and hurting on groceries, since its across from the Walmart. Then... would be too full and postpone getting groceries. There is something evil about you can have even more for free if you'd like.
Our new resident is a squirrel who is no longer in the house. We have been putting peanuts out for them this year and didn't realize they would like to house themselves with us. There has been a thorough examination of our attic and two humane traps set outside. The question is, how did they get in; the service is guaranteed so if we have a recurrance it will be taken care of. Since it's winter and snowing steadily they were unable to check the roof outside to see if any shingles are missing. Also we live in a semi-detached house so it could have come through from their side.
Fingers crossed that this was a one time squirrel visit and it will not come back.
The taste test was interesting today. Keep in mind each day it is a few different crackers. One of them looked and tasted like a cookie though, like a whole wheat cookie if you can imagine that. Kind of shortbread like unlike the others. Course it was amazing. I ate a cookie, I ate a cookie! Okay, two but I had to answer the questions :D.
Before I start on answering my questions on calories, just got the news that Heath Ledger is dead...I'm sorry but that is just so out of the blue when you think of all the ones that are always in the news. So young and you have to feel for his daughter. I know its not diet related, but its US related, so I still check up on things.
Ok, as for my calories, I would say way below 1200...today I was just kind of walking around and didn't really want anything. I've been working out like crazy, but even then I was making sure I was eating my 3 meals, etc. I don't know it might be my turn to come down with something, I just didn't have any energy at all today....just don't want a binge session to be around the corner, LOL. Now I have seen the weight stall even though I am working out really hard, but I am not consiously saying I am not going to eat so it will come off faster. I know that it won't. Sure I will keep you guys posted...
Speaking of cookie like things...and I was just thinking about this (Call me CRAZY), Luna bars, specifically the peppermint stick one with a nice big glass of milk. Can't get them over here and I think they have tons of carbs, but it was like a nice big candy bar w/ crunchies for breakfast. Ok, so I know I probably am going totally off my rocker right now, but well I've typed so I think I will just leave it here.
We have a guest as well, thought it was one since Keith got it out the door with the broom. Alas, I can here one scratching around inside the stairs....par for the course in the country and winter time. Haven't heard him lately, so maybe he left (I hope)!
Jayne, how great to get paid to eat food.....love it! And especially a cookie/cracker.
Hope everyone is doing well today....keep it up!
Angie, just heard about Heath Ledger this morning - I couldnt believe it!!! But then again I was shocked about Katie French too!! Both were so young - Drugs are a terrible thing!
Anyways, I'm back on the wagon ladies (I hope!)! Had a very bad week last week, but I do think it was probably stress related too (work was crazy) - but I'm not using it as an excuse!!!
Really want to get healthy!!! Had a really good training session last night - my thighs are still sore!!!
So how is everyone else doing??
Gina, stay on the wagon with us - we got a Valentines goal coming up if youre interested. The funny thing on the cracker testing (3 days left) is right after the cookie like one was a really bad one and I got suspicious that maybe it was one with flaxseed. Ive never tasted it but since a lot of the questions included an opinion on health aspects, I was suspicious even though Ive no flavor concept to base it on.
I almost picked up flaxseed oil yesterday, finding it for the first time in walmart but its so hard to get my head around the 2 tsp 90 calorie concept. Funny since Im upping calories and Ive done so perfectly with my daily fiber and vitamin. That is SO not me but there they sit next my computer so its so easy. Its just accepting the mini quantity versus the cal count. Plan to post in the food forum about it.
Sarah, hope you feel better after the peanuts!!!

And we are Valentines Day bound !!
After dropping Kiki off, went to Walmart for a battery replacement and picked up some things. After 30 minutes, I realized - hey, this is walking like yesterday so I just kept going for another 30. MUCH better then with a crutch - the support prevents the pain and stops. Later I realized how dramatically better it is to do it in the morning. I enjoy my time with Alice after work though so maybe a combo but wow, out of the way and on with my day was HUGE. She's not avail tomorrow so another Walmart morning walk, kind of like those who speed walk the mall (without the speed part :D).
Glad your feeling better Sarah. Peanuts sound like a peculiar thing to get sick on but it sounded awful. Im holding up with the additional calories. I told Alice and she said make sure there good additional calories. Im like you Rachael - all or nothing. Hopefully I can get that worked out when Im closer to maintenance. Cooking well for company sounds tough. Maybe remembering 172 is waiting for you will help. That and nose plugs - the smell of cooking food is a killer.
Glad your aboard Gina! Any goal weight for Valentines Day in mind?
