yumm. I bought a rump roast. My dau used eye of round. Cooked in crockpot with lots of spices then shredded to make peppered beef. I'm eating it without the bread.
I need to get to 174 to win my challenge
. Ten pounds sounds daunting, but its like a do now or never thing with me.
I buy ground turkey breast at Walmart and make patties. I put a McCormick grill seasoning salt on them and love them. Sometimes sautee lots of mushrooms (a good filler) or onions.
When I got bored with chicken someone on this thread said make chicken frijatis, which I loved. Yes, broth, helps get rid of hunger. Try different ones. I like the packages of dry chicken and will look up the name, but headed out the door for a wog before work. Also I guzzle a couple of glasses of water till the urge to eat passes. Sometimes works, sometimes not.
Rachael- I keep forgetting about mushrooms! Ooh, that peppered beef sounds good! I got a peppered pork tenderloin since they didn't have plain and I don't like teriyaki very much. Hope it turns out to be tasty!
Kristy- I'm on Phase 2 (LOOSELY, lol) now since I couldn't really handle phase 1 with my head problems, the fruit and yogurt seemed to help. PS, I really missed my pumpkin puree/yogurt combo! I feel much better than I did two (or 3?) weeks ago and am able to move more without triggering "it" but still feel like I'm on a tightrope with this, though. I forgot another tasty thing I always make!
"black bean salsa", about 4-6 servings
- 2 cups of black beans (canned or homemade is fine)
- 1 can of 14oz diced tomatoes, drained mostly (petite diced works if you prefer them smaller)
- 1/2 onion, chopped/diced roughly
- 12-15 jarred jalapenos, diced and about 1 spoonful of jalapeno brine from jar
- 1 mini ear of sweet corn, sliced off of the cob (I think this amount would be miniscule due to corn being on the list of the foods-to-rarely-eat but it really balances the sweetness from the spiciness of the jalapenos!)
Let set in fridge for a couple of hours so the beans soak the flavor. Great onchicken, pork or beef on a Lavash Wrap or as a salad! Mmm!

I make a black bean and corn salsa too but with out the hot peppers lol and it is good :)
The pineapple orange pork sounds divine but it would not be for phase 1 and would be limited I think on phase 2 to an occasional treat the "juice" in both cans is usually sugar based.. so even not eating the fruit you are still getting a lot of sugar.. too much for phase 1 .. I am SOOOOO making it for an occasional treat when hubby and I are off phase 1 again
Im eating dinner as I type.. some mashed turnip with fried cabbage topped with home made baked beans with a small porkchop.. was really hungry today.. TOM is almost gone and I think that is why. Usually hungry with TOM coming and going lol.

I'm not a jalapeno kind of gal, so I was going to skip those. Maybe use 1 or 2. Aren't those the really hot peppers?
I love turnips, cubed up and mixed with cubed potatoes. Never thought of mashing them. Are turnips low in carbs? I'll have to look that up.
Rach- I love hot/spicy food and have high tolerance so yea, with the jalapeno brine and the amount of the jalapenos I use- it's really hot for someone who isn't used to it. I think you could use whatever amount you'd like.
I found your turnip info here- I checked out the other websites to be sure info was accurate and it is. I've never tried turnips and I saw a few recipes while looking up for you that sounds yummy. Thanks for the new veggie idea, guys!!! I may just get my "potato" fix!

Nanny- I have to agree- it is okay as long it is only on occasion. You could even do half water and half unsweetened juices (from the can) along with the fruits in the crockpot. It worked in a pinch and was still tasty/flavorful.

STUPID sodium. Ate less yesterday, but canned foods and 4,000 mg of sodium and weight is UP.

What? Is it time to weigh AGAIN? Time flies, even when you aren't having fun. DON'T enter this. I'm going to drink all day and weigh in tonight. But now it's 185.2. Yes, down from llast week, but Mon I was at 184.
I know bouncing around is normal, but I want a lower bouncing range. Worked late, so ate late. Will watch sodium better from now on. Guess since my Dr put me on the BP pills I figure I could have all the salt I wanted which is one thing I love.
I really have kept calories and carbs lower and even got up 2 morning to jog. Why aren't there better results? I'm so impatient.

I had too many Pistascios yesterday. Not as low in carbs as I thought.
See that bump on my head? Its from when i fell off the side of the earth but here I is. Weight 162.2 but im okay with it as im coming off the end of my period. was nice to get too because this summer it switched from month end to month beginning and when it didnt pop in early Oct, was hoping I simply was defaulting to prior schedule.
I leave for vacation tomorrow. Have been up to eyeballs with inspectors, appraisers, foundation folks, roofers, AC - just an open house of house people before I run trying to get updates as will be gone 3 weeks and wanting house on market asap. note i will have internet while gone and far less distraction than here so expect to be here more.
Richard told his wife (ex? separated 2 years) of my pending arrival because septs 3 weeks unrevealed meant confusioin why he couldnt just do this or she couldnt drop something off while he was gone. we were testing the waters so no stayed low key but this is the real deal and im moving there come beginning of the year.
Rachael - doesnt sound impatient to me and ive had those times too. wondering if it really is just sodium and your sodium watch will have you seeing what youd have expected to. your doing so much right - optimistic for you going forward with likely less water retention.
Kristy - i hope sb is treating you well. was reading you food issues so hoping you explore the range of the SB list of foods. i could practically eat the same thing 3x a day and admit to practically doing that lately. please hang in there exploring SB many foods but remember if you ever decide to go another diet route other than SB, youre still welcome here!
Amanda - hope your fresh start is going well. something great about a sunrise - always a new day. Sounds like your doing great with food info and ideas. sounds like your keeping the eating plan fresh.
Karen - thanks for keeping track, with my shot memory the chart always helps me remember where people are at and even threre posts about it (i suffer from chronic brain farts). i dont necessarily recommend it but i finally did it - lost the yolks. a week now and telling you, my omelet sister as ive lived off them all week. mom used to have to remove all the white on my sunny side up eggs and here i am eating completely white omelets.
Oh... I understand your frustration! Keep it up though-- even when I sit at the same weight for....e....v....er, I do find some comfort in the knowledge that I am eating more healthily now, even if it is a trite piece of knowledge.
Sun, you make me laugh. In a good way:-). Good luck with all the house nonsense! I am trying to convince the fiance that we should find a place that is not his current apartment for when we get married, and I personally seem to have a HUGE nesting instinct and would like to buy something that is tangible, steady, and positively ours. An apartment seems so transient. The fiance is balking, as he hates committing large sums of money to anything. Groan.
Also, I had a highly interesting time with my future in-laws. I do believe my m-i-l called me fat at one point. We were at a restaurant, and they'd messed up the pizza I ordered with my fiance and f-i-l. The waiter told my fiance and I to go ahead and eat the mistake pizza and he'd bring out a small with the toppings we wanted. So, I took a piece. She looked across the table and said, "don't you think you should save some room for the next pizza?" Ummm..... She also offered to cut my hair, saying the sideswept bangs are too long and that there are layers in the back (it's beautifully layered, thank you, and was actually recently cut in honor of my in-law's arrival). She means well, and I'm sure it all just came out wrong, but it was a tad exasperating.
But, to my weight! I am DOWN TO 142!! Happy dance ensues.
oh my bev - you MIL must have no awareness of how she says things. My sisters says things exactly like that - so fond of her own opinion practically disregards others even when it applies to their own hair or what they eat. nothing like having an opposing opinion pushed on you as if it were more valid.
can you tell you touched a nerve here. i can handle it a weekend before the "no or i wouldnt have taken a slice" and "why would i have you cut my hair since im wearing it the way i like". my sister likes to fix people in ways she perceives they are broken. yes she means well so i do try to cut her slack but like i said, it gets old quick being chided into not doing things as i like but as she does. im normally easy going but ive two brothers whove cut off communication with her because they go crazy. because of the good intent, i had and am back in touch now many years going.
that personality type i think is where MILs get their bad name (think Everyone Loves Raymond).

busy busy day.. was doing better weight wise but last night went and drowned my sorrows in ribs.. but hey its still a loss. Things will get better.. they must lol... Things can't go wrong forever can they .. oh well. good looking numbers ladies :) hugs

bev: what a nervy MIL you will have. All I can say is, don't ever live too close to her. Wish someone had told me that when I moved next door to mine. Afterwards everyone said they wondered why I would move next door. Call me naive.
Rach- Sometimes keeping calories lower can backfire on you as far as weight loss goes. Really hope it is just the sodium that is stalling your weight.
Jayne- I'm glad your BF told his S2BX (soon to be ex?) about you because she shouldn't be in the picture as Rachael said. And it can make things all kinds of awkward. I hope you enjoy your vacation! You deserve it after all that with the house, etcccc. :)
Bev- Gosh! If it were anyone else, I would be a bitch and tell them off but future MIL, I have no idea how I would react to that. What did your fiance say about that? Grats on your 142! ;)
Forgot to weigh in last night so weighed in again- 219.6, no change from Wednesday's weigh-in for another group so that's good!
I just am unable to drink any water at work. Will make up for it this weekend.
I was 181 at the beginning of the month and want to see SOME improvement for November.

Dreary day.. I am in the process of disinfecting my whole house as my daughter was diagnosed last night with influenza.. NOT H1N1. I am cleaning everything to contain and stop any spread. Did not eat properly yesterday with all the running around..but am doing better today. corners look out you is getting scrubbed and oy my aching back
Bev MIL can be a handful.. Be polite but stand firm. I am lucky mine is a gem :) but they are few and far between. I already think about my son's wife (whomever she may be down the road) and the relationship I will have with her. I want everyone happy and she will be closer to him than I am at that point in his life. so.. I think I would want to keep her happy and close too ..
Jayne yes she needed to be told.. but YOU ARE NOT the reason daddy is not coming home.. Daddy is not coming home because sometimes things just don't work out. But look they can have someone new in thier lives to love them and cherish them and make them happy :)
Rachel some days I just CAN'T get the water in.. others I literally float through my day.. it all evens out :)

Housecleaning. Dries out hands, firms up muscles. Treat yourself to some goooood lotion and know it was a worthwhile venture for health in more ways than one:-)
And Jayne, oh people. People people people. People who just need to mind their own darn business. I am sorry you have to deal with the sister who "clearly" knows better than you what you ought to do. Ironically, I always loved Marie just because she seemed so improbable based on my parents and their experiences with their in-laws. Hmmmmm. Good luck with the Richard and his ex-wife situation. I am living proof that divorced parents with their own social lives involving significant others can still produce healthy (well, as healthy as any other kid) youngsters.
Oh: I'm a believer in water. If I drink it, I lose. If I don't, I might as well have eaten straight butter. Glug glug:-)
