Hey guys! My name is Casey. I have never used the forums before but I am constantly browsing them and checking out what you guys have to say.
My brother's wedding is on the first of January and I am a bridesmaid. I currently weigh 145ish (yuck) and I used to weight 124 (at 5'7"). I at least want to get to a little under 130 by the wedding. Plus, I need to fit in my dress that no longer zips all the way up!
Majorly frustrating.
Here's the problem: I have done the South Beach Diet before. When I was on it, I was on Phase 1 and reached my goal weight. Then, instead of following Phase 2, I followed a low calorie diet since the SBD was no longer necessary. However, I ended up gaining weight?! What's the deal there? I ate 1200 calories. No way you can gain weight eating just that, right? Even if I wasn't following Phase 2. I probably gained at least 7 pounds.
Basically, I just don't want to work really hard following the SBD and then when I reach my goal, gain all the weight back and not be able to do anything about it. Can you guys help me out? Do you have suggestions? Should I go on the diet?
chelsy: seems I don't know anyone who hasn't had a problem with regaining weight. It's the downfall of us all. I lost, gained and lost. Working on the last 10 at the moment. I just follow this loosely and try to stick to a high protein, less processed foods, etc. The thing that happens to some (and me) is that we try too hard. Harder than what can be maintained as a permanent life style. Life has so many temptations. Birthday celebrations, weekends, holidays, vacations, etc. So its not just losing, its learning how to deal with life. Also our goals have to be realistic. I don't know what the healthy range is for 5'7", but I would be happy with 145.
I've done well all week, but felt on the edge of a binge, so overate yesterday, hoping if I did it in a controlled way it would help. Also couldnt find the eggs or shrimp I was looking for. Small town shopping.

All ready for tomorrow
Hello all-
I am still trying to adjust to working nights. Between that and my double shift yesterday, a 4 month old starting to teeth, and my other 2- I have been busy.
I weighed yesterday(I know I am way off schedule), I was down to 394. 6 lbs since last time I weighed on the 23rd.
Nanny- I think you missed my Oct 12th weight of 400.
I reached goal #1 and broke into the 3's.
I have made some eating changes. I have been eating a lot of ff refried beans, topped with a range of things from ff cheese, low fat sour cream, lettuce/tomatoes, etc.
I also have decided to use pork skins as my snack. I know SB prohibits them, but knowing they are no carb and remembering that Atkins allowed them, I decided to snack on those to see how I did. I still lost while snacking on them. I keep them in my desk drawer.
I appreciate the tips, suggestions, and recipes.

Weigh-in this "am": 219.4
I haven't been sticking to the SBD very well so am glad I don't have a gain from last weigh-in because of Halloween weekend, lol. I realize now with the SBD, I really need to start planning my meals again and prepping ahead. I want to blame it on a lot of crap going on this week but it is my fault, lazzzy and I need to start making time for those things. Also need to get back to exercising- just need to take that first step then things will get rolling...
Plans for tomorrow: hard-boil dozen eggs, saute bell peppers, onions and mushrooms then divvy up in sandwich bags, cook chicken breasts/pork tenderloins in advance (too bad to BF- just heat it up in the microwave!! lol). Now hopefully, this will help reduce the amount of food stuff I bring with me since I usually cook my breakfast/lunch to work (sounds cool but can be exhausting, lol.)
amandief: do you freeze the stuff after you sautee it and put in bags? I'm buying lots of eggs too. I love them and fix a lot of deviled eggs and egg salad and if I'm being strict, I will eat one plain when hunger strikes.
weight this am is 183.8. I had more carbs last night, but oh well. I need to stock up on broth also. Theres one instant kind I like thats not as bad on sodium.
I was 181 Monday on another weighin, but I do better on weekends. During the week I get stressed and tired at work and will lose my mind if I don't eat, or I wouldn't get my work done when I'm dragging from being tired. I'm still anxious to get down to the 170's............Also will make more cabbage soup this weekend. That fills me up and is low cal. I am putting ground beef in it this time and sort of following a stuffed cabbage soup recipe, but no rice for me.

Woke up this morning expecting a better weigh in but I also woke up with a fever of 100.4 I think I have influenza like my daughter. sigh.. chilled and coughing and just thick headed.

That DRATTED scale says I weigh 144 today. Bah. But then again, I did have a margarita last night... btw, if anyone lives in Dallas, Manny's has the best frozen margaritas.
I feel a little like a dealer at a narcanon meeting for saying that.... but they are good! And a margarita with a friend now and then ain't no crime.
Otherwise, all is well. I am about to go make a whole wheat pasta, spinach and bean soup with my fiance. I'm also looking at new career plans, and I'm excited for what might be in store! I love what I'm doing, but I think I need to look at a hybrid opportunity where my current position (I work in a ministry for young adults who don't have the skills and support to transition into adulthood) becomes volunteer and I work somewhere else to actually pay the bills. My biggest concern is health insurance. But I think I have a plan! Hurrah!
Bevv- Bet it's the sodium that has you up. Mmm, margaritas!!! I like homemade margaritas! I wonder if my margarita recipe will turn out the same since I will be using splenda instead of regular sugar for my simple syrup infused with lime juice? Definitely will have to play with it so I don't get a TOOO sweet margarita. Good luck with your plan!
Rach- I usually do half and half because sometimes I'm not able to finish them all that week and I hate letting food go to waste. Doesn't happen often but it does. Oooh! That's why I made hard-boiled eggs- deviled eggs are my FAVORITE! Sometimes when I'm lazy- I just make the deviled egg filling, cut up the whites and toss it in there. :)
LOL at Sun's msg to Nanny. Glad to hear she's enjoying herself so far!
Nanny- I hope you get better soon! *dropkicks the flu*
Gosh, so far I've been fortunate not to catch anything (so far; knocks on wood!), especially when about a month ago, all 3 of my clients had bronchitis, flu and coughs They NEVER cover their mouths when they walk by and cough. Disgusting. Luckily, we have TONS of Lysol spray, hand sanitizer, gloves and face masks.
I finally exercised yesterday so I am SORE, heh. I miss that feeling- being sore. Gonna do it again after work! Gotta keep the ball rolling! Hope you all have a great weekend!

woke up this morning less fever'd but feeling gross. lol and my weight is at 242.8 go figure.. my bet is it will be up and down until I am well again
oh, I love margaritas too. But, seldom have opportunity to have one. Either I'm driving, or I'm with some fuddy duddy who would keel over in shock if I had one with lunch. I need more fun friends. I always skip the salt on the glass. bad salt.
nanny: GREAT. Down is down and yes it always goes up a little BUT once you touch down its easy to get down to that number again. (and stay there). Congratulations on the drop.
Sometimes the drops come easy, sometimes its a real battle to get one. I try to remember the agony when I'm faced with a forbidden temptation. I think of all the work I've done and usually the temptation is a mediocre dessert that just isn't worth the trouble.

Ick! Bit nervous because for another group weigh-in on Monday- I was 224! I nearly fainted, lol. Yes, I ate a bit more over the weekend but nothing out of the ordinary from past weekends, perhaps it caught up to me now?... At least I am back to exercising and I am eating more due to more activity so maybe I should just give my body some time to adjust? :)
