Hello everyone, would love to join you guys.  I find myself checking this post several times a day.  Sorry, I am a computer junkie Surprised.  I am still in Phase 1 and a little discouraged because I am actually gaining weight but just a little.  I noticed today was your weigh in day so mine is 133.4.  I know it doesn't sound like much but I'm a little gal and for me it is.  My Goal is 120.   Although I don't think I ever weighed that (I was an obese child).

Those pancakes sound delish but I'm really trying to stick to the Phase 1.  Although I had the pudding mishap because I thought it fit the criteria.

Are the sugar free chocolates really good on Phase 1?  I have been eating them.

Hope everyone has a good day.  Weigh-in days are always tough for me because it tends to set my mood.

Morning  I didn't really want to weigh in today but its best to stick to a routine.  I'm at 162 today so now I have 7 lbs to lose in two weeks instead of 5....  uummm not going to happen.  so I'm aiming for 159 just to get into the 150's.  I decided that I don't like eggplant that much  I made eggplant Parmesan last night It was good but not the best Ive ever tasted.  I think Ill stick to chicken or turkey.

Violet sorry you've been sick hope you feel better soon.

Hey Angie wernt you in the 180's last week. WOW what a drop.

Gina at least its healthy food but I kind of did the same thing yesterday.

Hey wings watch out for that sugar free chocolate.  It can have a laxative effect if you eat to much

Rachel good going on the 1/2 lb sorry your still sick too.  I like those tablet things you put in the shower it loosens things up with out taking pills
Welcome wings!  Good luck through phase1, you'll be through it before you know it.  I tend to be on here a lot too but lately busy with work.  I wasnt even aware  of sugarfree chocolates but I imagine they would fall under 75-100 calories of sweet treats daily.

Way to hang in there when you feeling so lousy Rachael.  Sorry to hear that and hoping it passes soon!  Congrats on your drop.

I hear you Sarah but Im actually going in tomorrow for weigh in (a first and ideally last).  Ive been struggling all week with food and not doing well so not looking forward to tomorrow.  I went out to dinner with Kiki last night, first time in months and ate way off the plan.  Lame but really hoping to get it out of my system.  I want one clean day before hitting the scale (especially with the salt factor on top of it all).  Still walking though.  But today Im with Gina - a new day!

And WooHoo Angie, dont have your weight last week but thats 5 lbs down from the previous!

When counting water intake, does anyone include water that you added a drink mix to like crystal light?

Thanks

Thats the only drinking water I get so I say yup, yup, yup!  Cant get it down otherwise anyway.  I had to give up soda because of reflux (never was fond of it anyway with how carbonation made me feel) and I really can drink so much more fluid now.

Sorry I haven't been posting much ladies, but kind of in the mood just to type (a bit homesick again today LOL), so here is my rant and apologies (just skip if you get bored).

Well, have been working out like a mad woman, feeling good, but what is the downside? Skin flare-up and stupid me I kept on going, well not really. I stopped my running for this week, which is a big no-no I've heard. I just couldn't be bothered with doing that as well for some reason. Other than that, I can't say enough about the gym that I go to, its my little place to get away or at least upstairs while my daughter goes swimming. Its nice.

Let's see what else ah yes my b-day is coming up, well tons of them are in a succession (always means money money money). What I can't believe is my daughter is turning 10 this April. 10! No more single digits, its just so hard to believe. As for me I like my mom's way of thinking, she is finally hitting middle age....now wait for it....she's turning 60!  I said OK that's fair enough, I will hit middle age at that state too.  I was born the day before her, so what a birthday present she got!Wink Let's see then there's Keith's 7 days later, then his daughter 7 days later and then my daughter's a month later.

Still having a real problem with getting food down my gullet. I am really turned off by everything lately. Did give in to a small piece of pizza the girls had, but that didn't agree with me, so I am not really counting all of it. My mom said she would send over some of that crystal light lemonade for me. God how I miss lemonade, they don't have it over here, well they have red lemonade.  Not even sure they make it like this anymore, but when I was growing up you went in the frozen section and got a small tin of lemonade.  Opened it with a can-opener and then added water.....does anyone know what I am talking about or am I all alone in my reminiscing? LOL

How is everyone else doing so far?

Gina I was actually in your neck of the woods last weekend, but it just hit me now to mention it. We went to visit some friends in Portlaoise. What a drive, we only get up there maybe every couple of months, its the night time driving that just kills Keith's eyes. Oh and that fact he says I now a short cut that takes us way out of our way...but he always replies with "We got here eventually"...

Rachel thanks for the offer on the Luna bars, but I looked at how many carbs were in them and I think I better stay away from them for the time being. I was just thinking for when I went on a holiday or something...because in Prague it was CARB CENTRAL!

Jayne how's the walking going?

Well, I think I have done enough damage? Sorry if I haven't gotten to everyone, welcome all newbies of course! Anyway, I will get my homesick self resolved this year. Going home for XMAS and can't wait. It will be 3 1/2 years since I've been back, so its way overdue. And have to get this weight off once and for all, my mom sent me an email that she's 129 and in a size 4! I think she's 5'6", I am the runt of the family, 5'4", my dad is 6"1" and my brother 6'4"...

Anyway, that's my final dish from me! (for now she says Laughing)

Morning everyone,

Hey Angie....Is the skin flare up effecting your appetite.  What is red lemonade?  lemonade in a can I remember....but never had to use a can-opener ....it always had a pull tab.  Wishing you luck with all the Bdays coming up!  you'll either get rich or go broke
Afternoon all!!

Angie, that really is mad!!!  And as for the birthdays I know what your talking about - November is like that for me!! Brother on 7th, Brother, cousin & boyfriend on 8th and little sister on the 11th.

Rachel, glad to hear that you are getting better.

Sarah, red lemonade is a yukky (my opinion), carbonated with very little sugar soft drink.  It is often used as a mixer for whiskey, although I have to say it is nice with malibu.  Its not great on its own though!
When I'm at the store i look at the valentines chocolates and think "just one wont hurt"then snap out of it and head for the produce aisle.  I do need to buy some for the kids but don't want to do it to early cause I might eat it all then Ill have to buy more anyway.  Wondering what Ill have to buy for their party at school.

I agree its awful being home sick.  I used to call home alot when I was in germany but that stopped once i got the $300+ phone bill.

Rachel-

As for my mom's weight, here's what she said she is doing:

"SUGAR IS IN EVERYTHING! Milk, bread, desserts, cheese, on and on. But once I changed it was much easier to regulate my diet. Fruit ok whole grains ok no dairy but now I like goat cheese non gluten bread and cereal(ezecial bread is delicious) corn tortillas whole grain pasta this stuff from the inca's called quinoa(yummy) vegetables, beans chicken, we've even tried tuna steaks(yummy), and no packaged foods.

I guess she just cut out all the sugar stuff and my parents do lots of walking and hiking, gardening, etc. Always on the move.  I've tried to cut out a lot of sugar, but I do try to have some milk every once in awhile.

Feeling much better today, actually it started snowing a few minutes ago, but not sticking at all.  My birthday is coming up as well and Keith wants to go away for the week, but I said wait until the weather picks up and even though there so many places to go to...I am dead set on going back to Munich. It was our first holiday together (well after I moved over) and it was so wonderful, so that is what I told him I would rather do then going away right now. Also, I want to be skinnier (LOL), since I think I was 140 when we went to Berlin in '06. And ladies I will tell you a secret of mine, I love it when Keith flirts with me, there's nothing like the Irish charm and the accent when he gets going. He says I look like a school girl when I smile at his compliments. I think it keeps a relationship going when two of you make the effort, it sure is a great boost to my ego Wink.

Sarah- No the flare-ups have never affected it before, I am just wondering if because I am working out so much, maybe its decreasing my appetite? I would think it would be the other way around? But no complaints here as long as it keeps coming off...

Gina- Never had that red lemonade myself, it didn't sound very good and now after you described it....let's just say YUCK!

Hope everyone's day is going well. Have a great weekend!

TK do it and it is yuk!!  But really tasty with a measure of Malibu - it tastes like cola frosties - yum!!!
Thanks for the updates, Bee and thats great your doing so well!   I posted previously I was struggling - talk about an understatement or denial.  I was in binge mode.  Started late Friday and daily I blew getting on track until Thrusday morn and thankfully since have not been tempted (a whole day LOL but really not a bit - guilt much?).

I did go weigh in today.  Shock. I reweighed 2x with same result.  Doesnt even seem possible.  I gained 15 lbs in 1 week.  From 358 to 373.  I know I was really bad but WTH?  Even considering weight gain, water reterntion, everything  the total still boggles me.  I rewrote this post because I initially couldnt even put the number out there.

Worst of all, I started a 300+ lb member thread to continue through the year with the OP to update each month so we are now at our very first monthly update and after losing 4 lbs this month, Im now 11 higher then the first and only other weighin Jan 1st check-in.

Ive decided to go back Monday because I cant deal with this number.  I know it was a hell of a horrible week.   Im in a great place actually diet and hunger wise.  Im glad to be back in a safe mindset but seriously, geez!  A lesson to stick with me?

Guilty of a bad week too. but today is going better and it has been a struggle to get past this holiday weight gain.  Rachel is so right about getting back on the wagon.   Just realized today that I'm going to be seeing my dad for the first time since I started losing weight.  the weekend after Valentines day.  I'm stressing about what I'm going to eat while I'm there(They eat a lot of carbs).  Portion control is going to be key to my survival.  Its a surprise party for my step-moms 60th/15th birthday so it should be lots of fun anyways.
Thats the funny thing Rachael - I was eating high cal food but not gorging myself.  Binge as in high cal food without healthy or low cal foods so Im sure I was due a gain but thinking Ive got something better to show on Monday.

Thank you Bee and you are very right.  The 300+ group was great to me.  Guess guilt because here Im encouraging everyone through Dec with our larger then average weight loss and screw up myself.  Thanks for reminding me and helping me keep it in perspective.

Funny Sarah anticipating an event and food there.  How great for you to see your folks again, especially them getting to see you!  I was calling defensive driving course places, trying to pick based on which restaurant there having class - its 6 hours and they cover your lunch.

Falling under 'too much information', I have been peeing like crazy all day.  Not so much yesterday when I cleaned up my eating.  Ive wondered is this a sign of getting rid of water weigh or does it not work that way and just a coincidence.  At least a reminder to up fluids so the body isnt holding water.

HELP, ready to throw in the towel.  I have 3 more days to go in Phase 1 and have only lost 2.5 lbs.  Whats up?  Everyone else I read about loses at least 6 lbs.  I am very discouraged because I've really done my best to stick to it and am afraid I will start putting on weight in Phase 2 since I didn't really lose anything in Phase 1.

I try to exercise at least 45 minutes 4-5 days a week on my elliptical machine.  I miss some days because of work and children's schedules.  I haven't been doing any weight toning like the ball because that always causes the scale number to increase and I didn't want the discouragment during Phase 1.

I do drink 2 - 3 diet sodas per day.  I heard that aspartame can block fat loss.  Does anyone know if that's true?  Maybe that's the problem???  I also drink about 80 oz of water though.

I got so hungry yesterday and my children were eating brownies that smelled great.  I refrained but I did have a protein bar that had no sugar.  Does anyone know if they are allowed?

Maybe I am making food mistakes that are throwing me off like the pudding misconception I had last week.  I just don't know.

Thanks for the vent.  I am going to do my best to stick it out for the remaining 3 days I have.  Good luck to all with the weekend.  It's the hardest for me.
