Id have to say that I think Sb and atkins are different. There really not a limit on the amount of carbs you can eat with Sb like there is on atkins. and it promotes low fat protiens. I always forget that veggies have carbs too but their at the low end of the glycemic index.
Jayne that storm hit us after it hit you I think it was heavier for you though. It was noisy but not that bad. I imagine that my neighbors were mad cause there roof hasnt been fixed yet. If they come over mad Ive decided to tell them that I did a special rain dance in my living room to curse them. Im tired of being nice
Going to have pleasant day no matter what. I wish the same you all too....Congrats on all the losses....WOOHOOO!!!!!!
Good control on vacation weight Rachael. I tend to have an all or nothing mode, something I'd like to break before I get to maintenance.
Dont know if you'd wanted to wait Sue but wish we'd caught you earlier - you can get SB books cheap cheap on eBay. Sarah made good points plus I think SB puts the diet more in your control with people encouraged to adjust it as they progress based on their own response to carbs, hunger and weight loss.
Dont quote me Sarah but Im thinking Friday has to be the best day to cheat - furthest from the following weigh-in :D. Plus its about our eating for the week, not just a day so balance is normally possible (not including my terror binges which luckily were just Thanksgiving and February (you can see them on my chart as spikes).
just figured i'd post the progress...i started last thursday and after completing the first week i have lost 7 lbs. it's a funny thing how the brain operates....i guess i needed the restrictions to break the plateau that i had been on for over 4 months....its a good way to jump start and get away from the white flour, white sugar etc. and i must say that the fruit abstinence had me wondering but i guess that all the natural sugars in them arent a good thing when the body is trying to break away from the sugar dependance... well enough from me because its only been a week...one day at a time...thanks D
Your swim sounds beautiful Rachael. Unfortunately as a kid, my dad pointed out the fish in the ocean - that they do come up to the shallow end and havent been in since, which was funny living so long on the FL coast. I know the scary you speak of - went over a 'hole' once snorkeling and had this feeling like you could fall eventhough Im an excellent swimmer. I also do the inch by inch thing with the cold - have tried the 'jump in and get it over with' and its too much of a shock.
Curious what you think of the dinner and which you got. They recently made them smaller so I try to add cooked brocolli or cauliflower to them plus they are quite low cal too.
She still has two cats at her dad, one from my house and Ive Gigi left here to adjust to giving away. Gigi is not one that likes to be held even by me (although I'll sometimes wake with her sleeping on my chest ?!) but she is still must be in the room Im in at all times which I find the funniest thing.
I started April 1 at 280, and am now at 276.8 .... so that's 3.2 pounds for the month so far, which (frankly), I'm pretty encouraged about. I think that eating more calories has really been good for me, mentally and emotionally, because it let's me fit more things into my menus (and life), ya know? Nuts and cheeses and the occasional bites of Ron's sandwiches -- that sort of thing.
As you might expect, I DO have my "eye on the prize" .... losing 100 pounds, which I anticipate I may hit around July 1. Why so far away? Two words: Alaska Cruise. OK, too more words: Water Retention. Still, when I started this on August 22, 2007 ... my goal was to lose 100 pounds by my ONE YEAR ANNVERSARY, and that's still my goal. If I make it a little early, great. If not, that's ok, as well. After all, this is a lifestyle change, right?
(Cute kitten pictures in my journal ... we're fostering!)
MOLLY
I wonder if Molly wouldve noticed if I'd slipped Sasha in with her clan - hmmm. The few vacations Ive had have been so lazy but Im definitely in different shape now so hoping to use your good example Rachael to get more out of the opportunity of going somewhere to actually do things! Hope those legs relax on you.
Heres to a big flush for you Sarah - if I hadnt experienced it, Id never appreciate how a dieting body can jump up in numbers after such a short bit off track. Still plenty of time until Thursday :D.
Hi All - Glad to hear that SBD is working so well for BigDee and Molly. I did buy the book and am still reading cause I must have done something wrong. :(. Today is Day 14 on Phase 1 and I am at 165. Only down 2 pounds and I really stuck to what I thought were the rules. I did cheat a little but not enough to only lose 2 instead of 8. I had about 12 oz of Sangria last weekend. I had one glass of wine (6 oz) this weekend. I ate out many times but only ate what was allowed. I need to get back to the book and read some more. I jumped around looking for a section about why people would not lose on Phase I but couldn't find one. I didn't track my calorie count each day but when I did it ran around 1400-1800 calories. Ugghhh.
Since starting this thread, were there any others who didn't lose on Phase I? I kept thinking that okay....weight not down but that's okay cause tomorrow it will be down a lot but tomorrow didn't come :(
How was the weekend?? Was a little sick on saturday - think I may have gotten food poisoning from a sunway sandwich I had, but feeling much better now!! thankfully!!
Weight is still down. A little surprised, but happy at the same time! Works busy here, so will check in, in a bit.
Gina Im SOOOOO happy for you that your weight is still down. what ever your doing its working for you. not good to have food poisoning though. Ive had it before but not bad.
Glad to hear that you had a good day yesterday!! By the way, did Ashton get to send Stanley to vinyard after??
Sue, there are factors that will affect the success of phase1. A major one is your starting weight and 165 puts you at a disadvantage for big loss with this or any diet but I still would have expected a higher then average because of how phase1 works and what Ive witnessed with others.
Another factor is your eating prior to starting because the further away from the plan you were eating, the more dramatic the loss. If one was already dieting and especially if they were already not eating that many carbs/ sugars, the loss wont be as significant as someone who was ingesting them.
An additional aspect might be the higher sodium associated with restaurant meals even in healthier choices because normally there is much water loss through phase 1 which could be counteracted.
I dont mean to be discouraging and hopefully Im not - your loss did seem smaller then I'd seen for Phase1 but youre starting with less to lose then many and I wonder if that causes you to react more to phase1 modifications or cheats than someone with more to lose. I have to wonder if your able to get strict to the plan and restrict sodium if this wont be a better week under phase1.
