Sarah - it was so strange not having you around!  Hoping this is a good weekend for you!  Thinking your adjusting just back with the change - Im already am getting used to cc plus.

Mom, thats great about the jeans.  Ages ago when I was thin, it felt impossible to get down to or below a 12 bcause Im so hippy.  My worst cravings were my first few days so hoping that means you wont get them later.

The double block yesterday had me sore today but I did do one block.  Strangely it wasnt my knees but calves and hips.  That's new!  My daughter is still hanging out here. After months, she just got her computer back and her dad doesnt have internet access so suspecting I'll be seeing plenty of her.

Good morning everyone.  Well today is a new day and the start of phase one for me.  Ive went from being stuck at around 160 for the last 6 months to 170 in only two months.  A little depressing but Im ready to go again.  Everyone sounds like there doing so well.  Im happy to join the ranks of the other phase oners LOL!

Jayne saw your new pics and you look so great.  I take it you and kiki are getting along better now?

Briana I agree that the frozen spinach being to strong for those quiche cups Ive made them before and fresh would taste so much better and maybe look prettier to.

Well Im starving so I need to go eat but Ill check in later.  Have a great day on the beach!!!

Yes, good morning! There has been progress with Kiki and after posting that she was still here last night, she was up (probably) all night on the computer having gotten it back and ended up staying the night - first time since moving in with her dad in March.  I even think she is walking with me because of the time together and Im appreciating that too.  Thursday night after our 1st walk, when I dropped her off her dad wasnt home and we sat talking in the car almost 2 hours.  Not ready to have a completely open door policy but finding a comfort zone for both of us.

What great timing to have so many new faces with you going into phase1 and wishing you a great start on it!  I know those lbs will be dropping Sarah :D.

I hadnt realized fresh spinach doesnt taste as strong cooked.  Asparagus is a food I like fresh cooked but not canned, although frozen is almost as good as fresh.  Im breaking records with not having gone to the store. Thought that would be a deal breaker for Kiki with extremely limited food here but it wasnt.

Found a forgotten tub of pancake 'just add water' mix that was behind an empty tupperware in my pantry so Kiki might appreciate that (if she ever wakes up - computer all nighter?) but no syrup - beggers cant be choosers LOL. On top of it was smaller tub of grits or cream of wheat (can never tell them apart) and going to make a littlle bowl for myself.

Wow - no carb reaction to cream of wheat.  Had it for breakfast again and man, does it keep me full.  Back to protein focus for lunch but cool because Im so reacitive to carbs.

Lower scale day, yay!  Not much but taking what I get since not far past Thursday.  I crashed last night 9pm to 7 this morning (well woke at 4 but thought best to take advantage).  I woke fired up and was going to go walking but realized I can lap the soccer field this afternoon at halftime.  If Im up for twice, will go for it.

Afternoon.  Day two and so far so good.  I did go out and buy some no sugar added fudge pops and I cant wait for this evening to come around so i can have one.  Funny that I used to have them around all the time and in the last 5 months I stopped buying them.  Fixing the garbage disposal today cause Im to cheap to call a plumber.  With the sink out of commision I wont have to wash dishes LOL!

This is Day 4 and I'm not seeing any weight loss as of yet. How soon should I see anything?

I've been eating my lean meats, lots and lots of veggies and I eat 2 hard boiled eggs for breakfast. I don't think I'm doing anything wrong. Hmmmmm

Hey momof2  I would give it at least a week to see results.   My first time around with phase one I lost 15lbs in two weeks but I was over 200 pounds and had really bad eating habits.  the next time around it was only 5.  Im hoping for a bigger number this time around to.

I guess I might not see a big number then. I only have 10-15 lbs to go. That's ok though. I've been losing weight for a year, so what's a little longer! LOL

When you all cut your carbs did you feel a little weird? Like, I don't feel right. A little sluggish, I guess. I don't feel like myself. :(  Should I be skipping Phase 1? I've read that if you don't have much to lose you should skip it. What do you all think?

I hear its normal to feel strange during the first week of phase one... my stomach always feels strange.     The last pounds are always the hardest... its like your body just doesnt want to let go.  If your feeling ill try a small amount of a carb with lots of fiber and see if that does the trick.  You might want to work some dairy in for the milk sugar.

Carbs are fuel so that very much could account for the sluggishness.  I agree with the good carb recommendation.  You probably would be fine to skip phase1 with your limited weight left if you prefer too.

I do believe that you already dieting before phase1 and having little to lose probably being a factor for your loss pace but its early and thinking within a 2week total, you will see progress. Also you mentioned eating out and you sounded like you did great but salt in restaurant food can cause temporary water weight to throw off a scale.

Sarah, did you get the disposal fixed? Im all for money saved!  Sounds like your phase1 has kicked off great!  Betting you'll see change come Thursday weigh in.  Im doing okay myself thankfully too.

Good morning! I hope you all had a good weekend! So, I'm officially done with phase 1! I was excited to buy some fruit at the grocery store yesterday! I have to admit, I am a little nervous to add carbs back in, but I'm sure it will help with my workouts. My trainer noticed the dip in my energy level and asked what I've been eating. When I told him, he was not pleased. I wanted to say "listen, buddy, I've been working out with you for months, counting calories, doing endless cardio and weight training and my weight is not budging! This is the only thing that has worked beyond 3 lbs!!! I'm sticking to it!"

So, I figure if I keep the carbs low, but eat slightly more on days I work with him ,I should be fine. Also, I made a new batch of the quiche cups but with fresh baby spinach and mushrooms. I also added some turkey sausage and they were SO much better!! Way easier to eat.

Congrats Briana on making it to phase two.  It is so exciting to buy fruit.... and the bonus is that it tastes better after two weeks without.  I love fruit but can seriously get into trouble especially with the dried stuff.

Yes Jayne I did get my disposal fixed and got a new surprise in the middle of the night.  I am now the owner of 6 of the ugliest puppies Ive ever seen.  I hope they get better looking when the get bigger.  the mom was a stray that my hubby picked up and by the time we could get her in to get spayed she was to far along.  Goodness they are noisey too.... got me up at 4 AM this morning with their crying.  Now the hard part begins ... trying to find homes for them LOL.

BTW the broccoli cheese soup on Hungry Girl is so good and phase one friendly. cant beat a big bowl of creamy soup for under 130 cals.

AWWW! Puppies? You have to post pictures of them...even if they are ugly.

I bought tangelos and boy are they tasty!! I had to restrain myself from eating 2. That broccoli cheese soup sounds delicious! I might have to make some! And pretend like bread bowls don't exist! :)

good morning everyone.  Okay I cheated last night on a big bowl of cereal.  Why I did this Ill never know especially when I had string cheese and sugar free jello in the fridge.  Thinking positive today and trying to shake it off.

I looked up pics of beagle puppies and I guess there supposed to look like that.  Ill post a pic as soon as I can but I really suck at putting up new pics.  Its all about getting them on my computer and I still use film   Ill just have to remember to get them on disk too.

Ugly puppies - is that possible? LOL  Imagining your house upside down with 6 of them.  Good luck with finding homes - I got quick replies on craigslist with our cats.  Shake off the cereal and moving on :D.

Briana - funny about you and your trainer ("listen buddy ...) and now as the carb intro continues, thinking they'll be happier.  Just watch your appetite but betting it will go fine!

Since starting the weekday block walk Wednesday, did a single, double, single and then yesterday did a double.  My logic was if I dont do another double all week, Im getting one in now but hoping to the zig zag helps me work through any soreness early on to where its double all the way.

OMG...and they're beaglepuppies??? Where do you live? Can you ship a puppy to San Diego? LOL, I think my cats may kill me for getting a dog...

Don't worry too much about the cereal. I had half an english muffin, and no it wasn't whole wheat. And yes it was TASTY!! For sanity's sake I think you have to allow yourself some cheats. It's especially hard for me since my bf is Mr. Bread and Sugar. But he manages to be 17% body fat without going to  the gym incessantly like I do. Grrrrr......

So I did have a tangelo yesterday and 1/4 cup brown rice with dinner, and it didn't seem to affect me negatively at all. I don't feel sluggish or bloated at all, so I will try the same thing today and see where that leaves me at weigh in on Thursday.

Jayne, the zig zag method is absolutely the best thing for soreness as well as building up your endurance. Actually, if your muscles are really sore from exertion one of the best relievers is a little bit of "the hair of the dog." No, not booze,  LOL. Any low key exercise following a particularly strenous session will relieve muscle soreness by getting the blood flowing to the sore areas. For example, usually my trainer kicks my butt pretty hard (that is, after all, what I pay him for, right?) Normally, I can barely walk the next day after so many squats and lunges, so usually I'll just take a leisurely walk as best I can manage without pushing myself, and it helps with the soreness.

Hope you all have a great day!

Okay so I have just started phase two this past saturday and my first choices for carb and fruit to add in was a whole wheat pita and apples.

I have to say that I have never experienced so much bloating in my life.  I have had a feeling of heaviness for the past couple of days and intense pressure from the bloating.  Is this supposed to happen?  Is my body just adjusting to the carbs and fruit?  Should I try a different carb or fruit next week to see if that helps?

I haven't started craving anything, if anything I crave more salads and dread the meals where I know a starch will be involved.

Any insight into starting phase two would be great!

ozma, Im not familiar with the bloat with phase2.  It might be a carb adjustment - sounds like a good idea to see if switching carb options has affects you but also you dont want to right them off just in case its the carb introduction, and not these specific examples.  If you try other options, you can always revisit the pita and/or apples to see if it was just a transition thing.

Im so sensitive with carbs, Im not good for advice for the more normal but I did find fruit spiked my hunger so I would try to time it not to long before a meal or as part of one.  It neutralized my sugar response.

Briana, my walking is actually somewhat low key so maybe just getting up and down more during the day will be helpful.  At least this morning I didnt have the morning after as bad as my first double.  BTW I also made brown rice in which I'd not had forever.  My picky daughter loves it and for me its a really cheap carb that I dont react to much either.  I used to eat the worst rice - white with ridiculous amount of butter and salt.  This is a whole new concept but at the nuttiness does give it a flavor.

Ozma, if you're experiencing major bloating and pressure after not eating wheat for a while, you may be sensitive or slightly intolerant to it. Like Jayne recommended, I'd say to try another starch and see if that effects you the same way.

Jayne, I love rice in all forms. Especially the sticky sweet rice you get for desert at thai food places. And not only did I add butter and salt to white but cheese too!!  Brown is good though, I had it again for lunch today and as far as I can tell, no real change, so that's good. What I do sometimes is make it into "spanish" style brown rice...I dissolve a tomato chicken consomme cube in the water before boiling the rice. It gives a different flavor for not many more calories. High in sodium though....

And yes...the more movement, the better in terms of soreness. Soon you won't be sore at all. :)

Hi All, I am sorry for being MIA but I have been adjusting to school and all the activity.  It is weird being in a class room after all these years.  I am finally at 449 so I lost 13 lbs this last month.  The water weight is finally gone.  I think all the walking around campus a couple times a week helps plus I have been trying to do activities other days too.  It is helping my mobility alot and I can feel and see the difference.

Sounds like you all are doing so well!

Take Care,

Tonya
