No scale change today so figuring will need another week to reverse Saturday (yeah, it WAS probably that bad). The Make Up party was fine and while Alice knew I wouldnt be buying from her friend, it wasnt uncomfortable. The sets of skin care where in the $100s - I was surprised anyone was on board plus Im not a believer in the whole detoxing of skin through lotions and their were some wild claims.
The food went well - Alice is a unbelievable cook but as planned, ate before leaving and it was self serve buffet style. I did hit a few of the raw vegs towards the end.
Raining today but its on hold now so thinking sometime after 5 but before dark can still go walking with my daughter. BTW I did go walking yesterday - just left earlier. Funny how driven I am to go - skipping one day wouldve been find I know but its become a 'have to'. Maybe theres some Saturday guilt in that :D.
CANT believe weigh-in is here tomorrow and knowing my log graph will see an unfriendly bump up - just as long as I can have it drop in a week.
Hey guys Sorry Ive been missing. My hubby was home Friday saturday and sunday so we had a lot of family time. On monday I was struck with a terrible stomach virus and now tonight my tooth cracks in half so its off to the dentist tomorrow to either get it pulled or hopefully get it built up and capped. Im skipping weigh in this week as I fell or better yet leaped off the wagon. Good luck to the rest of you.
Sarah - good to hear you got time with your husband but how terrible about your tooth! I hope it wasnt as painful as it sounds and can only imagine the $$$.
Weird night - I ended up go get special boxes to ship stuff for work screwing up my time to walk during the light hours but on the way home stopped at Walmart. I finally broke down and bought groceries but its been about 3 weeks. The cool thing was that with my walking, I didnt have to lean on the cart - that is a serious first. Im sure the block walking was a big part of it.
I actually thought since its dark, what if I did my 'walking' at Walmart but thought that might be hard with Walmarts crowding. Funny thing was wanting to get home for the debate, I was zooming around anyway.
358.0, a 2.5 gain but lower than what it was up to just yesterday so I'll take it and focus on next Thursday. Still enough October left to not ruin it with a bad weekend.
Hello ladies...
Jayne, I know what you mean about wanting to get home for the debates. I skipped grocery shopping to get straight home. I weighed this morning and am at 165. So basically, my bad weekend led to a stall. Oh well...I'm back on track now so hopefully I will continue to lose. I have discovered I must really be sensitive to carbs/ sugars. I ate some cottage cheese and it made me hungry and crave like crazy. I did find out that I am not allergic to wheat, which is excellent news! Though I do notice that now even if I have just a little bit, I get bloated and uncomfortable. Before, I thought the low carb thing was ridiculous and swore I'd never do it. But the more and more I do it, the better I feel. And well, you can't argue with what the scale and mirror say.
TGIF Ladies-
Wow, it feels like I've been gone forever. I haven't been on in a couple weeks because my daughter and I were in a car accident and I injured my leg pretty badly. So, between the Dr.s appointments, trying to get healed and dealing with all the insurance issues I haven't had much time for the computer. The car was new (9 months old) and is now totaled, but thankfully other than my leg we are both fine. I am really frustrated with the insurance part of it though. From what I understand because it was a lease vehicle (which by the way we put $3000 cash down on!) even though the insurance company settled for $6000 more than the pay off we get NOTHING because the car company technically still owns the vehicle!!
And on top of that, even if we come up with another $3000 to put down on a new one, due to the shift in the economy the exact same vehicle that we bought 9 months ago with the same down payment will cost us $100 more per month!!!!!!!![]()
Ok-enough ranting about that- Through all of this I have managed to keep my diet on track, however due to the leg injury the exercise is down to nill. Thankfully though I have been keeping my diet so tight that the scale has continued to move ever so slowly downward (I guess hobbling around on crutches burns more calories than you think) . This morning I saw the snake eyes (200) which is a SB low for me. That makes 10.5lbs since I started. Not a huge amount, but considering that I have been laying around immobile for 2.5 weeks I will take it. Hopefully as I heal and start getting around more I will cross over into "one-der land" soon.
Have a great week end all!!
What a lousy deal Dooley! Great to hear from you though and sorry to hear about the injury but glad it wasnt worse with the car being totalled. Im doing a little 'snake eyes' dance for you . Great 10.5 lose so far - I know it seemed like you were stalling early on but glad to here things are moving again.
Briana, Im thinking learning your okay with wheat was relief! You sound so conscious of your reactions to food - thats amazing and I know so helpful in dieting. I also was skeptical of the carb thing until my doctor gave me the push and I saw my own responses. I know its not everyones plan but if its the one that helps someone like me, its a godsend.
So again, a little bit down from yesterday - 258.0 to 257.2. Briana - Im thinking next Thursday is something for us both to particularly look forward to considering this week.
Wow - stepped on the scale to find myself at 253. Granted two weeks ago I was 255 but following bad Saturday I was up as high as 260 and then mostly 257. Realizing it might be a low flucuation but if I can hold that til Thursday I'll be happy.
Hope everyones having a good dieting weekend!
Hey ladies. Ogh. This week was pretty terrible. In general wise and diet wise. My birthday was on Tuesday so, yeah, there was some cheating, but I still lost half a pound. I wish I could get a gym membership, I feel like that would speed things up a little.
Does anyone know a SB pizza dough recipe? Is that an oxy moron? Ha.
A birthday week with a loss is good saravee - birthdays can be cause for a gain, good going!
I'd seen non-southbeachers praising SB Frozen pizza online before trying them and they are pretty awesome.
The only thing I found recipe wise was on the SB site but for crust, they only said "prepared pizza dough, preferrably whole wheat". Another listed using a pita but it was for a breakfast pizza.
A little bit up from my lowest low - no worry, thats the way I roll and still comfortable that I will be back down by Thursday for a loss.
Hello, I hope everyone had a good weekend.
Jayne, isn't it funny how skeptical you can be of something until you try it? It blows my mind how I can feel the responses my body has to what I put in it now. This diet, I think more than anything else, has made me really consious of what I put in my body and what I get in return. This really has been the only diet plan that has worked for me. And you are surely an inspiration.
I did have a little cheat this weekend and had a beer. I really think beer is my weakness...I don't necessarily drink to get intoxicated. I just, really, love beer. And my waistline proves it.
But excitedly, that's changing. I really am looking forward to seeing Thursdays weigh in though. I have lost a notch on my belt, and people are starting to comment. Even my roommate and boyfriend, who both see me everyday are starting to notice. Always a nice payoff!
Doodley, that SUCKS about the accident and the new car payment. But good you're not too hurt! Insurance companies are hell to deal with sometimes. It's really great that you kept to your diet, though. I know at least for me sometimes stress like that can be a killer.
saravee, I'm pretty sure SB pizza would be anything that's got a whole wheat crust. You could probably google a recipe for it and add whatever toppings float your boat. And happy birthday!! I think you're allowed to cheat your birthday week. The thing that matters is getting back on the wagon.
Hey All!
I am not even sure what I am weighing now. It is my TOM and I have been very up and down all week (mostly up). I also ended up having a glass of wine at a sushi place...though I had lettuce wraps for dinner so the food was ok. =)
I am hoping that once all is said and done I will be down to 136....though I don't know how feasible that will be. I think I may end up still stuck at 137...sigh.
I will be seeing my family this week and I really had wanted to be at 135 by this thursday, but I don't think that will end up happening.
Either way, progress with the diet is going pretty good. We have a D'Lites emporium where I live that serves sugarfree/fatfree frozen yogurt which is delicious! It is 50 cals per serving which would be a small and the regular size ends up being about 100cals. I am completely in love with this place and have been going every weekend as a treat. The ingredients look pretty good as it is made with skim milk and artificial sweetener. =)
I am again having trouble logging my calories. I have gotten really lazy about that. I wish that the logging system was designed a little better so that you could re-add multiple items at once.
I logged everything when I started but my diet is so repeative, Ive gotten down calories math in my head. I actually run low so Im not worried about going over but keeping them up.
Ive enjoyed the McD grilled chicken chipolte wraps but its a pain to order. I request no cheese, very little sauce and grilled chicken. Yet one of those 3 often gets done wrong. Plus I end up removing more than 1/2 the tortilla and would prefer more chick, less carb.
I bought La Tortilla Olive Oil wraps. Theyre huge for 100 cal and I cut them in fourths. Ive used wishbone FF bleu cheese I already had. Yesterday though out and grabbed a wrap. My daughter said to ask for the sauce on the side. At McDs? Yes they have little tubs of chipolte so I can make it without it drowning. Their chicken though didnt end up even needing it (my home chicken is not as flavorful so brought the tubs home). Unfortunately the first ingredient is high fructose corn syrup (in a BBQ base sauce). The site says a tub has 70 cal but i just use a tiny dab so funny but that small tub will last me a while :D.
Briana - awesome that people close to you can see it. Sometimes its not as obvious to people who see us regularly because the change comes gradually. Ozma - sending you wishes for Thursday at 135 or close as you can get ;D!
Hello!!
I'm new to this forum..thanks to ozma : )
I started SBD Phase I last Monday and finished my first week yesterday. I started at 141 lbs and lost 4 during week 1, so now I'm down to 137 lbs. Is 4 lbs good?? I was really hoping to see better results. It is also my TOM, so maybe that has something to do with it... Also, I'm REALLY scared to transition into Phase II next week : (
Anyway, I just wanted to get that out there and start chatting with you all for support and encouragement!! : ) My goal is to weigh 115 lbs. Hope everyone is having a great day!!
I wanted to stop in and say Hi! I have been busy with school. It is good to see everyone is doing well.
I think my weight has stalled but I have been eating alittle more lately with school so I am hoping to get that curbed. Also I have been in school 4 weeks now and I noticed by week 3 I could walk alot farther then I could when I first started. When I first started I would park right out front of the building and walk up the few steps to get in the building and then sit at the bench right inside the door, rest and then walk the little ways to the elevator take that up to my floor get off the elevator and sit on the bench there and then walk to my classroom and sit and same thing leaving. Now I can park on the side of the buidling and walk all the way in and down the hall to the elevator and all the way to my classroom without sitting or stopping, I can also leave that same route and even walk across to the other building and down more halls to go to the computer lab when I have some work that needs done that I can not do at home. I cant believe how fast my body adjusted to the walking and how much farther I can go. Sorry for rambling I am just very happy about the upped mobility I have been having lately.
Hope everyone has a good week!

4lbs is great. Congrats. The first time I did SB I stayed on phase 1 for about 3 weeks, as I tend to lose weight very slowly. You might want to consider that if you have the will power to resist the carbs for another week.
Phase 2 isn't so scary... just make sure you add back the carbs and fruits slowly, otherwise you'll end up feeling gassy for the first few days. Good luck:)

Thanks, ice!
Ugh...as much as I'm NOT enjoying phase I, I think you're right...I think I might stay on it for a 3rd week. *sigh*
As for Phase II...that's exactly what I'm afraid of - I have heard horror stories already : (
I'll keep you updated!!! : )
4lbs is definitely on track. You are supposed to lose between 8-13lbs in the first two weeks. I wouldn't recommend staying on phase 1 unless you have a lot of weight to lose because you are in effect cutting out a lot of your daily fiber which can wreak havoc on your digestive system.
I got gassy in phase 2, but it goes away. I have been using beano to help me out with that and it has been working quite well.

Thanks for the tip on the beano. And yeah, I definitely don't want to mess up my digestive system anymore than I already think I have during week 1. Maybe Phase II won't be so scary after all!!
ICE: did you notice a difference when you stayed on Phase I for the 3rd week??
Welcome, welcome inlove and Im inlove with your avatar! Im not a 'cat person' but ended up with one that loos just like the photo who's now my baby (dont tell anyone I said that). Thanks also Ozma for giving inlove a heads up on us - great to have more mutual support. Thats a GREAT first week loss at your starting weight and tossing in TOM too, good for you!
Ice is right about not being concerned (although I was back then LOL but neednt have been). Adding a daily fruit and a starch is recommended for a week along with the other phase2 foods you can choose from. Then 2 fruit/2 starches the next week. Watch how it goes because you can speed up or slow down the transition based on how your body responds if at all.
I started at 400+ so was okay to extend phase1 which I did. Keep in mind Im insulin resistant so more sensitive to carbs. This may just be for me but my first starch was for breakfast and by morning break I was way hungrier than I'd been so I decided to hold off on starches until lunch or later. I do find that a 'starch' like triscuits which are not processed even as flour but whole wheat dont cause me any reaction and I get no response. Fruit I tried and stayed away from to long because serious sugar response. Now I just accompany it with a something like protein or string cheese to control that. You likely wont have such reactions but want to point it out in case your find yourself carb sensitive.
Good luck with week 2 and glad to have you!
