Wow, good for you!  Congratulations!

I'm stalled out.  I've been losing and regaining the same 8 pounds since November, I had flu 5 weeks ago and then an evil sinus infection that required 10 days of antibiotics and twice-daily sinus rinsing, and it keeps raining.  At this point I'm hoping to just not gain any more than those 8 pounds and I'll try to pick it up again once it gets a little warmer.  *sigh*

Hi there!

My name is Amie and I have a 2 year old American Bulldog named Roxy.  She and I have recently started walking every night after work and she is loving it!  I am getting there but still have days where it is more work than fun.  I feel a lot better than when we first started about a month ago and have lost about 7 pounds.  I had hit a major plateau in my weight loss and was feeling defeated and frustrated.  I have a long ways to go but I'm really looking forward to increasing our distance and speed as we get in better shape!  What a great group, I'll look forward to keeping up with everyone's posts.

Hi, Amie,

I also have days when the walk with my sweet doberman starts like work, but when I see how happy she is it becomes a huge joy. When you feel you just cannot go, go anyway and take it really slowly. A very slow walk is better than no walk at all. And she will run anyway:)

Good luck with your efforts

p.s. do you also use CC's other instruments? the food log?

Hi...my name is Jim and my furry buddy is Sobe.  She is a boxer mix which I got from the humane society.  As to what she is mixed with is any body's guess.  She loves to go for walks and knows when that time arrives as to when we should go.  We go for walks of 20 to 45 minutes depending on the weather and my energy level.  I do feel sad if for some reason I can't take her for walk.  She will bear up to the rain, but she doesn't mind that walk being cut short.  She loves snow.  Her favorite toys are destuffed animals toys.  When I give her a stuff one it's not long before it's de-stuffed anyways.  Currently unemployed looking for work so we have been taking longer walks.  I listen to books on tape while walking her.  Got through the whole Harry Potter series without turning a page.

Hello,

My name is Dena and my profile pic is my beagle boy Dexter, I also have a LH dachshund girl named Rosie, but I cannot get them to stop playing long enough to get a picture together. They both keep me active and motivated, getting me out of my head and out of the house.  The dogs and I often have playdates with other dogs in the area, and they have even motivated me to do the five mile Walk for Animals this past May.  This Sunday if I can get to the Mall of America I'm hoping to go to the first-ever indoor Dog Walk with my hounds.  Nice to join the group!

Hi there everyone :)

My name is Paula and I am a dog trainer although i havent been able to work for 2 years following an accident.

I have two Rotties - Arnie 4yrs and Wilson 20 months.  Wilson is a rescue dog and unfortunately needed op's for both elbow and hio dysplasia so he cant walk for too long.  Arnie loves to run.  Oh and Wilson loves carrots :D

Hi, my name is Andrea and I have 3 dogs:

Booker,  4 year old shar pei/australian shepherd/lab mix

Flea, 4 year old golden lab

Shiloh, 1.5 year old rottie/pit mix (we think)

Booker was a planned adoption from a friend's unplanned litter, Flea and Shiloh were rescues.

I'm new to Calorie Count, and have recently gotten back on the weight loss bandwagon, for what seems like the millionth time, after a rather long absence.  I've joined this group because it seems to me that I SHOULD BE walking my dogs to get exercise, but unfortunately that's not our current routine.  My house has a big yard, so most of my dogs' exercise just comes from playing together outside.  Most of my exercise has been coming from sitting on my ass in front of the computer or tv, which is partly why I'm in my current situation lol

I know, I know, that's bad - I need more exercise and so do they, but its practically impossible for one fat, unfit girl to walk three big dogs who want to do everything together (if I just take one out the other two cry the whole time)!  So what I plan to start doing is getting my hubby on board with this revolutionary dog walking movement lol He needs exercise too!

Thanks in advance for the motivation, I know I'm gonna need it! =D

Hi there friends :)

Well tomorrow I am planning on going down the woods with Wilson and Arnie, a lot of it is uphill so I will be burning off some calories.  I like it up there because i dont feel so selfconscious about my weight like i would if i took them more local to me.  Does that make sense?

I will take pictures if i remember :)

Hello, my name is Anna and I live in Thornton, Co. I have three furry kids. Emma is a 9-10 year old chihuahua (who by the way hates to walk and loves to sleep). Jessie, a 2 year old Daschund, and Bella (Izabella) a 9month old Chihuahua.

I got Emma about 1year 1/2 ago from some family friends, they told me she was about a year old, and sence she was as tiny of my chihuahua at the time (Blanka 3lbs) they though it would be a good fit. I started taking her on walks and noticed she walked slow and kinda weird. Took her in for a check up and found out she was actually between 7-8 years old, and that she might have had a hard/unhappy life. So she seems much better now, she loves to sleep in her electric blanket and each cookies!!

Shortly after I moved into my house, my little chihuahua Blanka passed away. I was pretty upset, and Emma did not provide the attention I was missing and needed. I found Jessie on Craiglist and adopted him from a family giving him away. He is a stabborn little boy, and his personality is really something I was not use to. He still did not totally fill the void of what my Chihuahua left behind. The lady that I originally got Blanka from found out what happened called me and told me Blanka's parents had another litter and if I wanted to have one, and that is how I met Bella.

Bella is such a puppy, and I wasn't sure if her and Jessie would get along. But they are the bestest friends, and they play, cuddle and totally love each other. At first taking Jessie for a walk was kinda difficult, he runs every where, pulls on the lish, and I just had a hard time. Bella hated going on walks and was so mad everytime I took her. But I kept at it, and Jessie is doing better, but still loves to be the lead and still pulls on his leash, and Bella is enjoying her walks better now that she is getting older and Jessie is there too...

During the winter I did not take Jessie for very many walks, and I notice that his behavior was getting worse in the house. And the time I did take him, his behaviour was better. So now I take him both days on the weekend, and every other day on weekdays (days I don't go to the gym). Even if I get home and its a little dark or a little chilly, we both bundle up and take a 20-30min walk. I know that we both need it, and he totally loves it. I wouldn't like being kupt up at home all day even with a backyard. Plus he behaves better when I take him!! He also loved it when I take him to the river down from where I live and we go on a hour+ walk... And I enjoy the walks as well, I totally feel better when we are done! Bella will be out of commision and not joining us on our walk for a few weeks, took her in to get spayed...

But I believe that the walks benefit both me and my dogs, and I just want them to have a happy fulfilled life with me!!!

My name is Stephanie and I live in South Texas. I have 2 dogs, Jasper is a 1yr old black and tan mini dachshund chihuahua mix and Shiloh is a black retriever mix. I adopted Jasper when he was 4 months old from the city pound and I adopted Shiloh when she was 3yrs old from the pound in another city, They are both great dogs I couldn't ask for better babies :D.  I plan to add another dog into our little group hopefully a German shepherd I know that breed needs lots of exercise so I need to get my bottom into gear and get active so that when I do add a new dog into the mix I will be able to keep up with him/her. I walk 2 miles every day with my older sister and I have 2 acres behind my home that I plan on walking every day with my dogs at least twice a day. I would walk them the 2 miles but the people on the other road have some very aggressive dogs that are not locked up and I don't want to chance my dogs getting hurt.  GOOD LUCK EVERYONE

Hi my name is Cassie I am 18yrs old and I live in Central Arkansas. I have 3 dogs, Scout a female 7yr old black and white, Border Collie/Saint Bernard mix, Pupster a white, female, 1yr old terrier, and Lillie-Lu a 3 year old black and white Australian Shepherd.

Scout was my 11th birthday present and she is the light of my life I couldn't love her more! She has been there for me through everything bad and good that has happened in my life. We do everything together but her favorite activity is long walks through the wooded area behind our house.

Pupster was a drop-off dog that showed up on our doorstep about 2 months old on the day of my high school graduation. She is an energetic and yappy little thing that looooooves our cats and tries to sneak inside whenever she can! We walk together a lot but she likes to ride in the car more not that that will help me lose weight.

Lillie-Lu was the runt of a litter and we bought her and her sister Lizzie (who sadly got hit by a car 6 months ago and died) in Mississipi. She loves to play fetch and is not fond of the leash! She is the most active of all my dogs and really pushes me when we go jogging or just play in the yard for a few hours.

I love my dogs and really enjoy exercising with them because they motivate me to keep going when I tell myself that I have done enough!
