What's The Best Cardio Exercise? Equipment Excluded...
Hey Everyone,
I want to get a really great cardio workout without any type of machine or equipment. Will I burn more calories running or brisk walking? What does everyone think the best cardio workout is?

Personally, I think brisk walking is the best way to burn up calories. It's less stress on a woman's body than jogging/running and I find it more enjoyable. That, of course, is key - find something you enjoy and you will do it longer and more often.
Especially with the weather warming up, it's exciting to get out and walk.

You burn more calories running than walking briskly, but do whatever makes you comfortable. Mix it up, who says you have to do just one or the other? Above all, have fun!
you will burn more calories on a brisk walk and get more of a cardiovascular workout running
So if you walk for ten minutes you'll burn more calories than it you run ten minutes?
I should rephrase that you will burn more fat on a brisk walk for 45 minutes, and more calories when running. it takes your body time to process things for energy, a brick walk gives it the time to process fat for energy, when you are running your body will use whatever it can. either way you will lose weight. but to help to maintain muscle, walking is better
I just thought about this now, but what about something like run 10 mins, walk 10 mins, run 10, jog 10...I may try that tonight lol. What's the difference between burning fat and burning calories? I don't get that one.
Actually the learning to run program is all about intervals... walking for say 2 min... running for 2... and so on. I've been doing that program and am into the 3rd week of it. It's been great to help me lose weight and if that's all I did... I'm sure I'd be doing fine.
However in the long run ... running is better than walking because it keeps your heartrate up longer and boosts your metabolism.... so you burn more fat than just walking. Still both are great... if you can't run then do the learning to run program and get the best of both worlds.
....
You still need some equipment though.... some good running/walking shoes. They need not be expensive if you buy separate running/walking insoles and replace em.
Also another option requires only a $6 piece of equipment...
JUMP ROPE!
Seriously it's right up there with running on the calories burned per hour measurements.
